The Supreme Court has upheld the banning of TikTok in the United States of America. It’s fascinating to me because I don’t know how this is even going to work. But nonetheless, the United States Supreme Court has upheld the federal law that would ban the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok. Two days before this is slated to take effect. Now, the caveat is, unless sold. So somebody’s got to buy it in order to prevent it from being shut down. So we’re going to see how this all plays out because President Trump is on record as having pivoted a little bit. I think he initially agreed with the attempt to ban TikTok in the United States, but he has since come around and has changed his position and supports TikTok. Look, I’m thinking about all the video clips I see all the time on social media. Ninety percent of it comes through TikTok. You see ads for TikTok now. You may even hear ads for TikTok on my show. I don’t really have any hand in that. I don’t have a say in that. People are always concerned about China’s influence and access to our data. That cow’s out of the barn. I don’t think that they’re going to infiltrate the United States via TikTok, but many people do. And I don’t know how this is going to work. Seems kind of crazy to me. And I’m going to still predict that somehow TikTok will be saved. If Trump wants TikTok to survive, he’s got the richest man in the world by his side, Elon Musk. And Elon could buy TikTok. So I think something like that might happen, but time will tell. But again, breaking news, the Supreme Court has ruled that TikTok is to shut down as scheduled unless it is sold. Meanwhile, it’s Friday, January 17th. After the show, we’re off to Washington, D.C. to cover President Trump’s inauguration. It’s going to be bitter cold. The forecast is that this probably could be the coldest inauguration in history. It was pretty cold back in 1985 with President Reagan. It got down into the low 20s then. And, in fact, they canceled the parade for Reagan. Now, I wonder if it is this bitter cold on Monday. Will Trump do the parade?

Well, I think Ivanka has said he will. In fact, I think the early word was the whole family is going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. You know where I go right away instinctively. I hope he’s safe. I don’t want anything to happen to this guy. They can’t harm one hair on his head. And I’ve been thinking a lot about this, Joey, and I’m in this grateful mood. I mean, did you ever have any moments in 2024 where you thought that the unthinkable was going to happen and Kamala could win?

I had plenty of those moments. I didn’t want to think about it, but yes, I mean, with everything that they were throwing at Donald Trump, you just think, how much longer can the man do this? You know, my fear was that they were going to end up putting him in jail, literally, and they tried everything they could. But, you know, we’re here now. He’s going to be our next president on Monday, and we’re going to be there to witness it. So everything is good. 2025 is off to a good start.

I got overruled, and you’re making me be in the studio because you want to get all the glory and actually go to Trump’s inauguration in person. How dare you? How dare you?

The Supreme Court has ruled that TikTok is to shut down as scheduled Sunday unless it is sold. Now, that’s the caveat that I think could lead to a buyer like Elon Musk. Again, Trump doesn’t want it sold. There are folks I know that have had enormous success. And, you know, if you believe the commercials that you see and hear about it, TikTok is also used as a force for good. Now, I know about the existential threat that China poses to us. I appreciate the concern we have. You want to get serious about China? Why don’t we block them from buying all the land they’re buying? You want to get serious about China? Then let’s talk about China. The real estate ventures and how about all the products that we have to buy? I mean, look, this is a multilayered thing. To go after a social media platform like TikTok doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Let’s see what you think. We’ll start in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Michael is reacting to the news. Yes, thanks for picking up. I personally, I think… I’m against forcing the sale of TikTok. Okay. Now, but I think instead we should pass a law that says that if you do business with, that basically if you censor people on your platform that you should Yet you lose your what’s that one law that gives them all these protections? I can’t remember.

I’m not sure. But, Michael, what I do know is that here’s a text that makes a lot of sense from New Jersey. We have to make up our mind. Is China the biggest foreign threat to our country or not? If they own and control TikTok and are using it to gain control over us, we need to block it. Well, OK, this is what’s strange. We don’t all have TikTok. Not everybody subscribes to TikTok. Not everybody has the app. You believe that China’s a threat and you don’t want them spying on you? Well, for crying out loud, don’t engage in TikTok. I mean, there’s some basics here that I don’t quite understand. Here’s William. William, you’re up. What do you think about the Supreme Court going along with this TikTok ban?

The golden era is about to begin. And the post that I saw on social media from somebody, the account is Jack, at Jack Unheard, he said, this is what real happiness feels like. We’re so back. We are so back. Incidentally, ironically, the video clip that I just saw on X came from TikTok, like so many videos do. If you haven’t heard, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the ban on TikTok. And the caveat is, unless somebody buys it, you wait and see, somebody’s going to buy it. Maybe Elon. Who knows? But you just don’t ban a social media app and take… Again, that joy and happiness away from people who have the option of taking the risk or not. The risk is, of course, whether China is spying on you. You don’t want China to spy on you? Don’t get the app. Don’t engage. Don’t give them the opportunity. You know, somebody texted me about the way the world has changed since 9-11. And this texter is so right. So many of our freedoms as a country have just been arbitrarily removed. And I truly believe that Trump’s return restores many of those freedoms. The texter said, we’ve got TSA going through our suitcases, our bags. How intrusive. We’re learning how bad the communist Chinese really are. The texture says, I agree with you, Mike, we should ban Chinese land purchases in this country. We’re starting to ban Chinese electric vehicles from coming into this country. Things take time. But it is not a question of just turning TikTok off from not using it. If it’s a national security issue, then we need to ban it. I’m not in favor of banning things, he said. But to stay safe in the post 9-11 America, we have to ban TikTok. Do we? Really? Hey, Michael, don’t get on TikTok. You know, I saw the texter say that we’ve lost so many of our freedoms. You don’t have the choice? What if you choose to go visit China? No, no, no, can’t go to China. What if you choose to buy a Chinese product? What if you choose to sell your apartment building to a Chinese buyer? I mean, how far down this rabbit hole do we go? I don’t know. All I know is nothing can shatter my great mood. And one of the interesting aspects of the inauguration is going to be who gets to go, who’s not going. And I get it. Trump didn’t go to Biden’s inauguration. People are… kind of murmuring about Jill Biden offering to have the traditional First Lady tea with Melania, and Melania turned Jill Biden down. Michelle Obama isn’t going to the inauguration. I saw a list last night of about 13 or 14 Democrats, three of them I didn’t even recognize. Who cares? Go, don’t go. You don’t want to show up, don’t show up. If Michelle Obama doesn’t want to go to the inauguration, who cares? I mean, I remember her saying that she finally was proud of her country, but only when her husband ran for president. It was the first time she’d been proud of her country. Remember that clip from Michelle Obama? Now, she’s clearly tacky and classless by not attending Jimmy Carter’s funeral, by pouting and staying home and not going to Trump’s inauguration. But look, I get it. She doesn’t like him. Okay, don’t go. Stay home. Good for you. You really showed him. You’re going to make Barack go. He’s going to, you know, get all dressed up. He’s going to the funeral of a former president. He’s going to the inauguration of the future president. But you’re going to stay home. Okay, so be it. And he has quite the eyebrow-raising take on Michelle Obama’s decision to stay home. I wanted to play it for you and get your reaction.

About Michelle Obama boycotting the inauguration. From New York City, Jason Whitlock is absolutely right. Typically speaking, men are to be leaders of their home with compassion, love, and strength. Unfortunately, the feminist movement has created an era of weak men. This is the whole happy wife, happy life mentality. A strong man follows God first, and a good woman should follow him. Here’s a text message from Georgia directed to Eric Hansen. Hey, Eric New Jersey Hansen, he’s not being misogynistic. Now, how dare you? I did not give Eric up. I didn’t say his name. I did not identify Eric by name. I don’t know why you’re guessing that it was Eric Hansen who was surprised at Jason Whitlock’s comments and somewhat offended, even though it was Eric Hansen. As a woman, there’s no shame in knowing woman is the helper of man. Equally important, we all have a place, like the food chain. One piece out of whack, everything changes. A couple of other texts about the inauguration and TikTok. Florida, Tampa writes, Monday is more like the 4th of July. I’ll be lighting my fireworks. Let’s just stop and let this ruminate a little bit. Think about this. We’re off to Washington, D.C. after the show to cover the inauguration of Donald J. Trump. Mark, I want to ask you a personal question. In the middle of 2024, when Trump was being convicted of 34 felonies, think about that for just a little, let that sink in. If you or I had one felony to our name, We’re done. We’re done. It ruins our life. How about 34? How about 34? Which, of course, the absurdity of that, taking a misdemeanor that expired due to the statute of limitations over a bookkeeping mistake and turning it into 34 felony convictions.
SPEAKER 03 :
And maybe not even a mistake. It was a drop-down menu where he called it a legal cost. It was a legal cost.
SPEAKER 02 :
So to take that and turn it into 34 felony convictions, the absurdity of that is a big reason, a big part of why he won. Of course, the assassination attempt is a big part of why he won. All of this came together. And this is a God thing. You can’t ever convince most of us that God didn’t have his hand in this, Mark. You know, it’s been said that Trump believes that the assassination attempt was absolutely, it was God’s will, of course, that that bullet didn’t hit him in the head. that it would graze him. If he hadn’t turned his head in that split second, how do you not think of that as divine intervention? Even his haters can’t go around saying, well, this is the luckiest son of a gun who ever lived. No, this isn’t luck. This is fate. This is spiritual. And I am so proud to be bundled up and headed to the tundra conditions. Oh, my gosh. This is going to be one of the coldest inaugurations on record. One of the presidents who went to the inauguration was just cold. He died. William Henry Harrison. William Henry Harrison got pneumonia.
SPEAKER 03 :
And it wasn’t even that cold.
SPEAKER 02 :
It was just, it was like raining in like 38 or something. It was going to be cold. It’s going to be in the teens when people are filing in. Now, look, I have to sacrifice. I got to be in a warm, toasty studio anchoring. Joey Hudson will be among the crowd.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know what inquiring minds want to know? What? Where you stay in.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, I’m not staying where I usually stay because that hotel room – you know the hotel room where I usually stay?
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s why – by the way, I don’t need hotel name or room number. No, but I’ll tell you the story. Have you priced it out and found it?
SPEAKER 02 :
I have. There’s a hotel that I’ve always stayed at when I go to D.C. and I always like it. It’s an older hotel, but it’s very luxurious, very comfortable. It’s the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City. And it’s right across the river, really. You know, right over the bridge. And it’s easy to get to. In fact, do you know why it’s kind of famous? Do you know why it’s notorious for a reason?
SPEAKER 03 :
Something happened there? What happened there?
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. Monica Lewinsky was confronted by FBI agents in that hotel. And that’s where she had, like, Linda Tripp. Remember how Linda Tripp turned her in and everything? Well, that all happened at that hotel. Anyway. I like that hotel. It’s comfortable. And, you know, it’s not a cheap room. I mean, but, you know, thankfully I can put it on the Salem expense account. It’s usually about $700 or $800 a night. Yeah, what is it now? $4,000. A night.
SPEAKER 03 :
$4,000 a night for a home. Is it time for my 30 cents? There’s no such thing as gouging.
SPEAKER 01 :
Oh, really? Really? No.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s the marketplace. That’s gouging. I mean, gouging is like criminalized to some. Well, that should be criminal. No. Oh, stop it. Stop it.
SPEAKER 02 :
Stop it. We’re the conservatives.
SPEAKER 03 :
We’re the libertarians. They have every right to charge that. And if somebody doesn’t want it, they don’t pay it.
SPEAKER 02 :
And I’ll bet they’re sold out. So, anyway. So, proves my point exactly. We’re staying a little farther away, but not too far. In Baltimore. And we’re going to get to go to the balls. We’re going to go to a couple of inaugural balls Sunday night. It’s going to be, you know, Phil Boyce and Joey and Peg Hudson and I. We’re going to go off to the South Carolina Palmetto Bowl.
SPEAKER 03 :
Make sure you’ve got a black tie and boots. Got to hang with the Texans.
SPEAKER 02 :
I got the boots. Well, I don’t have the boots, but I got the tux and I got the tie and the cumber. I got a big boy tie, too. I’ve got an actual tux tie that you’ve got to tie. It’s not a clip-on. Woo!
SPEAKER 03 :
Do you know how to tie one of those? I do. I haven’t done it in 20 years, but I do.
SPEAKER 02 :
I don’t know how to tie it. I have no idea how to tie it. So Joey Hudson is going to have to treat me like a toddler and tie it for me. Come on. But how about the ball, the big ball, the Turning Point USA ball we’re going to get to go to, thanks to Phil Boyce’s connections. The actual village people are performing. Man, oh, man. They’re performing. And Don Jr. and President Trump, I don’t know if he’s going to show up or not. I’ll bet he may.
SPEAKER 03 :
I mean, the president and the first lady, the freshly installed president and first lady usually make the rounds. Yes. I mean, the last one I actually went to was Black Tie and Boots, the Texas ball for the first Bush inauguration. But would Trump come to the Texas one? I would think. Maybe. Would Trump come to various other ones? I don’t know. It’s a cool tradition.
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s going to be Sunday night. Washington will be packed and there’ll be lots of excitement and drama. His official inauguration portrait has been released and it bears a striking resemblance to his mugshot, which I love.

He’s got that glowering determination.

With the lighting from below. It’s like, hey, look, I love the phrase, dad’s coming home and dad’s pissed. Dad is not happy with you. He is not happy. And speaking of interesting things about the inauguration, you know Jason Whitlock, right, from his many appearances with Tucker? The Fearless podcast. Fearless podcast. He does a rant about Michelle Obama refusing to go to Trump’s inauguration. Now, here’s what he said. It’s fascinating. I’m going to play it on the show today. And the post that he put up on X was, Michelle Obama is setting the example for black women. By missing Jimmy Carter’s funeral and making a fool out of Barack, she’s telling black women that they don’t have to pay any respects or follow any protocols. He mocked a conversation. He did a mocking conversation between – Barack and Michelle. And it went something like this. Honey, I’ve got to put on a suit and tie. We’ve got to pay respects to Jimmy Carter. Honey, we’ve got to go to D.C. It’s the inauguration of the 47th president. And Michelle says, I ain’t going. I ain’t going. I’m staying home. Honey, don’t embarrass me like this. And Jason Whitlock has a whole rant. Now, he’s a black man.

I was going to say, which gives him a little bit of Teflon to be able to do this.

Go ahead. I guess he has the latitude to do this. And he says, look, in the black community, this is a black – and he talks about a wife has a biblical – duty you know god a husband is accountable to god um a wife is accountable to her husband and god and it’s basically almost a scriptural reference he makes where he says look she’s making a fool out of barack obama there’s a lot of rumors swirling that their marriage is trouble in paradise yeah i mean what do you what do you make that’s that’s the second uh hottest uh active rumor about michelle
