Join Kim Monson as she dives into a critical discussion on the socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water by examining the control government exerts through rules and regulations. Through thought-provoking dialogues, the show explores the dichotomy of freedom versus force and encourages active listener engagement with ongoing political and world affairs.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 10 :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water. What it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
SPEAKER 13 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 10 :
Under this guise of bipartisanship and nonpartisanship, it’s actually tapping down the truth.
SPEAKER 13 :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
SPEAKER 10 :
On an equal field in the battle of ideas, mistruths and misconceptions is getting us into a world of hurt.
SPEAKER 13 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 10 :
Indeed. Let’s have a conversation. And welcome to the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today’s drive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. And thank you to the team. I thank you for stepping in here today. in a pinch, and I greatly appreciate you running the boards.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, you’re very welcome, Kim.
SPEAKER 10 :
And Amanda, actually, she keeps all of the Crawford stations on the air, and so I really do appreciate what you’re doing for us this morning, so thank you. Check out the website. That is KimMonson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. uh sign up for our weekly email newsletter there you will get first look at our upcoming guests as well as our most recent essays you can email me at kim kimmunsa.com and the text line is 720-605-0647 and of course would love to hear from you on anything that you want to let me know about as well i’d love to hear what you guys have to think about the super bowl and particularly the halftime halftime show. I did not watch it. I saw a little bit of it and I thought, you know, I don’t think I even want to have the TV on during this time. And of course, congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for their victory there. Kansas City, it took them a little while to figure out that they needed to show up. And so anyway, I had it on. on the background while I was doing some other things. But again, congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles. I appreciate all of you who support us. We are an independent voice on this independent station. And it’s so important that we have these independent voices. So thank you for supporting us. And the show broadcasts 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. On all KLZ 560 platforms, the first hour is rebroadcast 1 to 2 in the afternoon, the second hour 10 to 11 at night. And that is on KLZ 560 AM, KLZ 100.7 FM, the KLZ website, and the KLZ app. And on the show, we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And my friends, it’s never compassionate to take other people’s stuff, whether or not it’s their rights, their property, freedom, livelihoods, opportunities, their childhood, or their lives via force. And a force could be weapon policy, unpredictable and excessive taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, The World Economic Forum’s agenda, the globalist elite’s agenda, the United Nations. We’re seeing this play out at the Colorado State Legislature with this Colorado governor. And they’re using land use codes, zoning regulations, forest fees, conservation easements, national monument designations. The list has gotten very long under the O’Biden-Harris administrations. And Trump is working to walk this back. And so we’re going to talk with Dr. Brian Junedepth about that here as our featured guest in the first hour at the bottom of the hour. But remember, if something is a good idea, you should not need to use force to implement it. And we focus on the issues, not the personalities. On the show, we will, of course, mention people, but we really want to stay focused on the issues. Our word of the day is intrepid or intrepidity, which we hear that word typically every Friday when we are reading the citations for the Medal of Honor recipients and their citations, and we read the quote from the Medal of Honor quote book from the Center for American Values. And do check out the Center for American Values this Wednesday, the 12th. They will have a fantastic online or on values presentation. And Drew Dix, co-founder of of the center, Medal of Honor recipient, is going to talk about the real Cold War, which was when he was stationed in Greenland. They are getting close to capacity. It doesn’t cost anything, but you do need to RSVP, and you can do that by going to AmericanValueCenter.org. That is AmericanValueCenter.org. But intrepid or intrepidity means fearlessness, fortitude, endurance, and courage. And it’s spelled I-N-T-R-E-P-I-D-I-T-Y. And so your challenge today is to use the word intrepid or intrepidity in a sentence today to impress your friends and family. Our quote of the day, I went to Tom Landry, a great football coach. He was born in 1924, died in 2000. He was an American professional football coach, player, and World War II veteran. He’s regarded as one of the greatest head coaches of all time. He was the first head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, and he held that position for 29 seasons. And so because of the Super Bowl, I thought, let’s have a football quote or somebody involved in football. And he said this. He said the quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence. Again, Tom Landry, the quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence. And I think we’re going to be talking with Representative Kindergraf here. in the second hour about some of the bills that are scheduled for hearing for this week. This is one that we at the Colorado Union of Taxpayers, I did not select it to be one that we would actually take a position on. And the reason is, is because I couldn’t see that there was any tax money. I just didn’t seem like it fell into our purveyance of our pledge. It is a very interesting bill, and I’d like you to check it out. It’s House Bill 25-1134. Its sponsor, the main sponsor is Representative Scott Bottoms. And it’s regarding insect production for human consumption. And it basically says that companies that are currently creating this product, insects for human consumption, They can stay at the levels that they are, but no new efforts on that. And while I don’t really want to eat bugs, and I know that there is a real assault upon our meat industry, I don’t think I’m in favor of this because of the freedom versus force issue. And I’m concerned that if we start to prevent some food sources from being um, produce, even if we don’t like them, that we would see things that we like that would not be produced. So I want to hear what you have to say about this. And again, that is, um, let me get that house bill again. I think it’s 1134. Uh, yeah, it’s house bill 25, 1134. So let me know what you think about that. Uh, and the text line is 720-605-0647. Some of the headlines that I think are important that you hit is we’ve got this very, very bad Senate Bill 003. And it is a bill that would make it more difficult for everyday law-abiding citizens to carry firearms to protect themselves and their families against bad actors. And this is from Rocky Mountain Voice. Okay. And it says this is a much maligned bill that some have said would make Colorado the most anti-gun state in the country. It can’t seem to get the support it needs to clear the Democrat-controlled state Senate. Support for the bill appeared to have collapsed Friday before a second reading and preliminary vote and was laid over until February 13th. the bill was introduced january 8th cleared by a democrat-led committee on january 28th and friday was laid over for the second time if passed senate bill 3 led by democrat senators tom sullivan and julie gonzalez and sponsored by democrat reps andrew bosenecker and meg froelich explicitly prohibits the manufacture distribution transfer sale and purchase of common use gas-operated semi-automatic rifles or shotguns and gas-operated semi-automatic pistols, all with detachable magazines. Says a death knell toward passage through the Senate may have been delivered when Senator Nick Hendrickson, a Pueblo County Democrat and the majority party’s whip, declared his opposition to the bill in its current form. The whip generally is responsible for whipping the votes needed in his caucus to pass legislation. And he says, I believe that broadly, semi-automatic firearm ownership by law abiding individuals is protected by the Second Amendment. Duh. So that’s a Hendrickson. So stay tuned on that. Doesn’t mean that it’s going away every year. We will see things that will be introduced to try to limit our our right to be able to carry firearms to protect ourselves against bad actors. And Colorado seems to be the tip of the spear. the place that they are running all of these bad bills. And then if they can get them through in Colorado, they’re going to try to get them in other places. And so that’s why the work that we’re doing with our Colorado 2024 election project, which is which is morphing into Reclaim Colorado 2025 is so important. We’ve got our two lawsuits out there. And because of all of you, we raise the money for those lawsuits. So stay tuned on all of that. We’ve been very concerned about the cost of living in Colorado. Everybody’s getting their power bills, their electricity bills, and they’re all super expensive. And it’s all because of public policy and unbelievable. But again, this is from the center square, I think, that says Colorado is going to continue closing coal-fueled electric plants in 2025, trying to close all of them by 2031. And you think electricity is expensive now in Colorado. Just stay tuned. And again, that is because of the radical activist Democrat policies of this governor and his bureaucracies and this Colorado state legislature. It is all making Colorado more and more expensive. And so there is a poll that was taken and the center square reports this. The Colorado voters say GOP more represents the working class and addresses top concerns. Now, we’ve got to again, we’ve got to get a handle on our elections. We’ve got to make sure we support these great candidates. Those two things together, I think we can reclaim Colorado. Because even in Colorado, people are saying that this Democrat Party is not representing us. And these discussions are so important. And we have them because of our sponsors. And one of those sponsors is Hooters Restaurants. They have five locations, Loveland, Aurora, Lone Tree, Westminster and Colorado Springs locations. Great place to get together to watch all the games. We’re now moving into basketball and hockey season now that football season is over. And so be sure and check out all those specials for lunch Monday through Friday. And again, that’s Hooters Restaurants. Also really appreciate the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance team. They know that there’s a lot out there that you can worry about at night, but one of the things should not be your insurance coverage. They’ve been great sponsors, and I really do appreciate them. for all that they do for us. On the line with me is Yvonne Paez. She is a co-founder of Perspectives 101 Northern Colorado. It’s a group in Northern Colorado that meets on a regular basis, just really a civics group to provide information for the community. And they’ve done a lot of great work over these last years. Yvonne Paez, welcome. Good morning, Kim.
SPEAKER 06 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 10 :
And when did you found Perspectives 101? It’s been several years, correct?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s now five and a half years ago. Can you believe it?
SPEAKER 10 :
That is awesome. And before we get into our subject of the day, if people want more information on Perspectives 101, how can they get that?
SPEAKER 06 :
They just need to email perspectives101.info at gmail.com.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And you’ve got something going on tonight, which is, I think, super important up in Fort Collins. So tell us about that.
SPEAKER 06 :
We do. So a couple months ago, on Perspectives, we had a meeting because there were people who were really interested in speaking about the trash issue in Fort Collins. So we did that. And now the trash group is having a meeting of their own, a public meeting of their own, And thank you for letting me advertise that on your radio station. And it is tonight. The Fort Collins Trash Group has a public meeting at the downtown library in Fort Collins at 530 p.m. And the meeting is to discuss the ongoing issue of trash charges to non-users of the city selected trash hauler, which happens to be Republic. And here’s what I will have to say about that. If people do not have a problem with what is happening with the Fort Collins trash overreach, they do not understand the issue. So I do have a little bit of info on the harm to some Fort Collins residents that if you have time for me to very quickly tell people, the people who think there isn’t a problem might understand what the problem is.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and it comes down to what we talk about all the time on the show, Yvonne, and that is freedom versus force, force versus freedom. So this is all about force, and it’s the opposite of free market. So, yes, explain the harm to Fort Collins residents.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m sure in this meeting, residents expressed a variety of harm and some is listed here. So folks, what people need to understand is that folks are made to pay for a service that they do not have, want or need. And did not ask for and are not receiving. So it’s really people need to wrap their head around that. So, for instance, people who do not receive service are charged a monthly fee they did not consent to and which Republic, which is the chosen hauler, collects. providing a kickback to the city of Fort Collins so that’s one another is okay now now they don’t call that a kickback right what do they call it an administrative fee is what they call it but you can call it a submarine or a twiddlywinkle you know if somebody collects something on on your behalf and hands it to you it’s a kickback yeah okay So then we go to the next one. The next one is people who use commercial dumpsters or take their trash to the landfill because they have a full load due to the work they do or other reasons like, let’s say, composters who are really good at managing their trash so they have almost no trash and they take stuff to the landfill from time to time. Those people are all penalized because they also have to pay even if they dump their trash in a appropriate way by their own means. So that’s not fair. Then we go to the next group, people who have vacant properties like vacant houses, which require no trash service, and including people who have vacant lots with no structures on them get a trash bill. So, I mean, this stuff is insane. And another one would be people who use the alternative hauler, which is RAMS. And they have to pay the chosen city holler, Republic, in addition to their holler that they have already always had, which is Rams. So let’s say they didn’t decide at the last minute after Republic was selected to go with Rams. Let’s say they’ve been with Rams for 20 years. Then they start getting a bill from Republic because even though they have their holler, they have to pay Republic, too. and the city via Republic, too. So this is not okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Not at all. And ultimately, the city is picking winners and losers, and ultimately it could put Rams out of business, at least in Fort Collins. So continue on.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yes. Okay, so speaking of Ram, you know, when we contacted them to – see if they wanted to be at the meeting. They couldn’t come, but they gave me a statement. And I would like, just so you can see how sad this is and how wrong this is, let me just read this very brief statement, you know, such a classy brief statement made by Ram. And it says, we wish that the city would have left things in the open market system as they were. It has been a little unfortunate for us after 40 years to lose the amount of customers we worked so hard to earn. but we greatly appreciate those who have chosen to stay with us. And obviously, on our end, we have adjusted our prices a little to help compensate for that quote opt-out unquote fee to help residents of Fort Collins feel that they have a choice of trash hauler without having to pay more out of pocket. That’s what we’ve done on our end, and we appreciate those who have chosen to stay with us even those who have chosen to pay that opt-out fee and come over from Republic. I mean, how classy is that?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, it really is. And so what’s going to happen tonight? Is there going to be some of the bureaucrats from Fort Collins there, any of the elected representatives? What’s that going to look like tonight at this 530 there in Fort Collins?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, they were invited to the original meeting, and none of them made it. So the only people that came were the people in the, say, division. I call them the trash team. Really, there were a couple of really nice people who came and kind of explained what the city was doing and then very patiently and with open hearts listened to all the variety of ways in which the people of Fort Collins, many of the people of Fort Collins, are being harmed. And they’re just caught in the middle because the city set this thing up and then placed these poor people in charge of managing this chaos of people who are really upset. So they have to sit there and listen to it. I feel so bad for them. Listen to all of this. And they sent an email to the city, the people, the city council or whatever, where this was all decided. to try and explain some of this on our behalf. So we thank them on the trash group for trying to put forward some of the information on how people have been harmed to try to effect some change. So this second meeting is really for, is a general meeting for people who didn’t make it to the first one, who would like to tell us what is going on with them. We may find out more ways that people are being harmed that we don’t yet know. And just to start seeing what it is that we can do. So in this case, we are inviting the trash group people who helped us. They don’t have to present. They’re not in the hot seat. But they can come and listen if they want to to this second meeting. We’re trying to catch the people who might have originally missed the first meeting so that we can move forward in trying to find ways to change things to help the people that are being harmed.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, so what about the elected representatives, the mayor, the city council members? Anything from them? Are you hearing anything? Is it crickets or what’s going on with that?
SPEAKER 06 :
We haven’t heard anything from them, but this morning I will be contacting the trash group in order to see what they may have heard from them up to this point so I can take that information to the meeting office. in the event that they can’t come themselves and tell us. So we will find out, and in future meetings, hopefully we can invite them, and hopefully they will be able to show up. I know they’re busy, but maybe somebody could show up. That would be nice.
SPEAKER 10 :
I think you’re giving them a lot of grace. I think that elected representatives should be all over this. And because this is something that people care about. This is a huge overreach by the city. And I think that they should be all over this. And so I think you’re giving them a lot of grace on that, Yvonne.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, well, you know, we appreciate the things they do for the city, but we also want them to step up and correct the things when they have done something wrong. You know, when we step in it, we just need to take responsibility and say, you know, this didn’t work out the way we thought it would work out. We really weren’t thinking clearly when we did this. We have identified the people we are harming, and I know there’s contract sign and stuff like that, but we are going to fix that, and we are going to stop harming the people that we’re harming. That is what we’re looking for. And, I mean, I kind of laugh because, you know, the city code of Fort Collins 17-36 on theft pretty much says that, you know, no person shall knowingly obtain, retain, or exercise control over anything of value. less than $1,000 or another without authorization or by threat, you know. And they didn’t have our authorization to just start charging us for a service we’re not receiving. So they’re violating their own city code. I mean, I’m not a lawyer, but if, you know, any lawyers out there could probably have a field day with this. But, you know, I’m not about being litigious and stuff if it doesn’t have to be. Just recognize when you’ve stepped in it and then step up, do the right thing, and help the people who you have inadvertently harmed and solved this problem.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and again, the meeting time and where is that? The meeting time is at 5.30 p.m. tonight.
SPEAKER 06 :
at the Fort Collins Downtown Library in Old Town. And it is a public meeting for anybody in Fort Collins who, one, has been harmed by this and want to let us know so we can add you to the list of ways people are harmed, or for the people of Fort Collins, who maybe it’s not affecting them in those kinds of matters, but want to be there because this is an overreach and because they want to support the residents in Fort Collins, their fellow brothers and sisters in Fort Collins who are being harmed.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, well, Yvonne Paez, thank you for being all over this. And again, that meeting’s today at 530 at the library in old downtown Fort Collins. So let us know what happens with all that.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I do have an email. They have their own email. They have started, if anybody wants to contact the trash group people addressing this issue, their email is Do unto others 03 at gmail.com. So that is D-O period, U-N-T-O period, others 03 at gmail.com.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and just this thought that just came in on the text line, what about a class action lawsuit to get their attention? So why don’t you just ruminate on that, Yvonne Paez?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, that’s for lawyers to do. Thank you. I appreciate you.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thank you. And we’re going to go to break. And when we come back, we’ll talk with Dr. Brian Joondepth.

He is a political commentator, and he writes a variety of places. This particular piece was published at Rasmussen Reports, and it is, What if Trump finishes his presidency by Easter? Dr. Joondepth, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 11 :
Good morning. How are you?
SPEAKER 10 :
I am well. And what’s happened in what, now is it the first three weeks of the Trump presidency? I don’t think that the radical activist Democrats knew what hit them. Now, they’re trying to organize, I think, now, but it’s been remarkable what he’s done.
SPEAKER 11 :
It really has. And my article’s kind of tongue-in-cheek, but at the pace he’s going, they’ll have accomplished everything in a few months. It’s amazing. He’s got the border under control, and he’s taking down the deep state. He’s doing it through funding. He’s shaking up the Middle East. He’s got plans for Ukraine. So all the hot issues that he was talking about, he’s in process of fixing or at least – going in that direction. So the funny thing is, what if he runs out of things to do? What if we’re back to a semi-normal constitutional republic by Easter? What’s he going to do?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, there is a lot. And of course, we’re starting to see the digging in their heels. And again, I don’t think that they realized the blazing speed, how organized he was, because they’re disorganized. They don’t strive for excellence. It’s mediocrity. And America’s in a very difficult situation. But do you think he’s going to get… this, I guess if he gets his spending under control, we might start to get this debt under control as well.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, absolutely. It’s $100 billion here, $100 billion there. Pretty soon that adds up to the point where the deficit goes away and we can start paring down the national debt. It’s amazing how fast he has done all this, which tells me that this has been in the works for a long time. This is not just the transition period. You compare it to 2016. Trump was surprised that he won. He didn’t think he would win. He won, and he had no experience in D.C. He didn’t know the players or the situation, and he had to cobble together an administration in two and a half months, and the deep state already laid traps, and they already had roadblocks and stuff to his administration from, you know, Trump-Russian collusion and things like that, which hamstrung this entire presidency. I think he’s been planning this for the past four years, which begs the question of the 2020 election. And did he happily let it play out the way it did so the country could have a taste of Joe Biden and the left running things? Meanwhile, he’s assembled… a dream team of lawyers and advisors who have previous experience doing this. And he hit the ground running. He had his executive orders ready. He had lawyers ready to push back against any pushback from the deep state. It’s amazing. It’s very well orchestrated and had to have been planned for many years.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m surprised that there had been no leaks on this, that the Democrats are caught so – well, I’m not going to say just Democrats, Republicans as well. There’s deep state Republicans as well, and they have all been caught by surprise.
SPEAKER 11 :
They really have, and Trump ran a lot of this outside of D.C. He had his own team, his own security, and yes, no leaks. He knew the way the game was played the second time around. And he wasn’t going to make the same mistakes again. A lot of his transition ran out of Mar-a-Lago. And, yeah, kept the media at arm’s length. And there were no leaks. He had loyal people, unlike the first time around. He tried to make nice with the Republican establishment. And, you know, Reince Priebus, his chief of staff, who was – R&C guy and an insider, and who knows where the leaks came from, but he had a lot of people like that with ties to the establishment, and of course there were leaks. But he ran a very tight ship this time. He learned his lesson well.
SPEAKER 10 :
So, Dr. June Depth, what do you say? And I’m concerned about it as well. We don’t want a country that is run by executive order. We want to reclaim our constitutional republic. So one of the things that you’re starting to see is, oh, he’s ruling by executive order. What are you saying to people on that? Because Congress is not going to take the action as quickly as he’s taken it. So what do you say to people when they’re concerned about it, as I am? But yet I read a piece by Jeffrey Tucker in the Epoch Times where he had talked about 10 days that changed the world. Apparently there was a book regarding the Bolsheviks when they moved Russia towards Russia. Marxism and communism. But he said, here you’ve got Donald Trump that is moving us to freedom and the American idea. And so this is the next 10 days that have changed the world. I found that riveting.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s, Kim, that’s a very legitimate concern because executive orders can be undone by the next president, whoever that is, if we flip parties again. And it’s interesting thinking about this. It’s almost why a deep state exists. The deep state exists, and I’m not defending it by any means, but it exists to have some continuity in policy because presidents change every four or eight years and things could go 180 degrees sideways. And foreign policy, economic policy, relations with other countries, things like that, can’t just be shifting on the dime. Nobody can plan that way, just like businesses can’t plan with a fickle tax code that changes every few years, which is, I think, why the deep state exists or came to be to serve as that continuity. Again, I’m not defending it because it’s gone off the rails, but Congress needs to codify these executive orders into law. And I think they will. If you notice during the transition, Mike Johnson was hanging around Trump. You know, Trump went to Madison Square Garden for that MMA fight. Mike Johnson was there. And there’s the picture of Trump and RFK and Elon eating McDonald’s on the plane. And Mike Johnson’s there. He was brought into the inner circle. And I think there’s a specific reason for that. Trump needs that ally. He’s the one that’s going to get this legislation going. So that’s that’s an important part of it. It has to be put into law because then it’s a lot harder to undo if it’s just executive order. Yeah, it’s great for a few years. And then, yeah, J.D. Vance is the next president and he’s president for eight years. Great. We got 12 years of good times. But what if a Democrat wins and reverses everything? So. That’s the problem. And we can’t run a country. Businesses can’t function. Foreign policy can’t function. It just it doesn’t work that way if the borders closed and then it’s open and then it’s Gulf of America and back to Gulf of Mexico and and just crazy stuff like that. That’s that’s at the whim of whoever’s in charge.
SPEAKER 10 :
So the American people are seeing the deep state, I think. This whole thing with this USAID. And I had a conversation with a dear friend yesterday. And she said, well, some people are saying, well, yeah, but USAID did some good. Well, maybe so. But it would have been trickling down for sure. It looks to me like people were padding their pockets. They were… I wonder if they were just sitting around in a back room coming up with all these crazy things that they said they’re going to name, that they’re going to send money to, and then maybe it was just a big money laundering operation. We don’t know for sure. But the American people, one of the things, Dr. June Depp, is people, I think American people, they trust, they look for the best in things. But when you… stomp all over that trust. They’re like, wait a minute. And, uh, I think people are at that point of you have taken our trust and you have, um, really degraded it. I think what, what’s your comments?
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, absolutely. The, yeah. Uh, USAID maybe have done some good, but you know, as the expression goes, Mussolini made the trains run on time. So, um, a little bit of good here doesn’t negate all the bad. And this has been out of control. There’s no accountability. It’s trillions of dollars. And a lot of it is contrary to American interests, or at least what most Americans would consider their interests. They’re running color revolutions around the world, including America. Michael Schellenberger talked about the Trump impeachment and the Russian collusion hoax. And a lot of that was funded by, you said, and just nonsense. It’s not so much a million dollars for transgender opera in Peru, but when you add it all up, it’s big money. And when you put that against the fact that average families having trouble putting food on the table because of inflation and interest rates and all the daily living expenses. And we’re just pissing money away like this. It’s unfathomable. So I think it’s a good thing. Number one is, what are we spending it on? And number two, which is, I think, part two of this, is where’s the money actually going? Who’s getting it back? Zelensky said $100 billion in funding of the Ukraine war from the U.S. is unaccounted for. $100 billion. Where did that money go? What I want to see is an audit of where it went and whose pockets. And I suspect there will be politicians on both sides of the aisle that personally or through their foundations or their campaigns saw that money. You have Lindsey Graham that’s pushing the war. Did any of that money find its way back to him? That’s what I’d like to know. And I’m sure we’re going to find a lot of that. It’s a big grift, and that’s where we need the accountability because this money is just being spent. There’s no check on the Treasury. The person approving it approved all expenditures. There was never any – the word no never came up. It was yes, yes, yes. It’s like having an unlimited ATM card, and they’re just spending it on whatever. You create an NGO that sounds good, you get money, and you put 5% of it toward what the NGO is supposed to do, and the rest of it is donated back to the politicians who appropriated that money. Funny how that works. And that’s why presidential campaigns are – billion enterprises. Where does that money come from? Is that small donors that are donating a billion dollars? I don’t think so.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, this is such an interesting time in our country, Dr. June Depp. And again, I’d highly recommend people check your piece out at Rasmussen Reports. What if Trump finishes his presidency by Easter? And when we come back, we’re going to talk with Dr. June Depp about another piece that he’s written that is an American thinker says cold winters mean global warming in what world? We’ll be right back.
SPEAKER 12 :
We’ll be right back. If you’d like to explore what a reverse mortgage can do for you, call Lauren Levy at 303-880-8881. That’s 303-880-8881.

And welcome back to The Kim Monson Show. Check out our website. That is KimMonson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You can email me at Kim at KimMonson.com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And certainly would recommend that you have in your giving this year the USMC Memorial Foundation, because my friends, it’s so important that we honor our memorials, that we honor those that have given their lives or been willing to give their lives for our liberty. And of course, during the Biden-Harris administration, you saw tearing down memorials and statues and renaming things. And so that’s why we need to make sure that we support the USMC Memorial Foundation and the memorial that’s located right here in Golden, Colorado. And on the line with me is Dr. Brian Joondepth. And he’s really, I’d say, a prolific writer and a great thinker. And he’s written a piece regarding cold winters mean global warming in what world? And this is a good moment to mention A Climate Conversation, which is the documentary that I had the great honor to moderate yesterday. It is the project of Walt Johnson. He’s a geophysicist and he just wanted to create a documentary with Socratic questioning of this whole narrative. And you can watch that for free by going to a climate conversation dot com. And also we’ve got a great podcast series with a number of experts there. So check all that out. It’s free at a climate conversation dot com. So, Dr. June Depp, in your piece, you said that we’re on average to have the coldest January nationally in the lower 48 states since 1994. So that’s why they had to change the narrative from global warming to climate change, right? Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, that’s part of it. It started back in the 70s. It was global cooling. And there’s a famous article, I believe, in Newsweek, all gloom and doom about the cooling planet and what that’s going to mean and ice ages and everything else. And that was just part of a small cycle where for a few years it was cooler. Then it warmed up. Then it became global warming. And to avoid the ambiguity and the contradictions of, warming and cooling, they called it climate change. And climate change now covers everything. So what they’re doing is all manner of weather is blamed on climate change. Yes, we have extreme weather. We have hurricanes. We have storms, tornadoes, droughts, all these things. But it’s a lot more convenient to lump it all under climate change. than just calling it the normal weather variations. We deal with long and short cycles of weather, including the 100,000-year cycles of ice ages and things like that. 10,000 years ago, we’re getting out of an ice age where the Great Lakes were covered under a mile of ice. How did the planet warm then? There wasn’t cars and SUVs and barbecues and coal-fired vehicles. power plants, but the planet’s climate changes. There are forces that we cannot influence, and some we don’t understand, solar cycles and the tilt of the earth and things like that that affect the climate. And short-term variations, which is weather, versus the long-term variations of climate are two very different things, and there’s no distinction there. And it’s all agenda-driven. It’s about money and control.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, in doing our podcast series and also the documentary Climate Conversation, what I realized, the green and the Green New Deal is the green that is going into politicians and bureaucrats and interested parties’ pockets. And you talk about grift. This really seems to be one of the major grift situations that I think that we’ve ever seen in society.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, absolutely. It goes back to I think it’s Bill Clinton’s days of Solyndra, the green energy company. I don’t know if it was Clinton or Obama, but I think it was Obama. Obama, maybe hundreds of millions of dollars went into this company and it went belly up and the taxpayers bailed it out. And And where did that money go? Who got rich off of that? That’s the kind of thing that we need an audit and follow the money. Al Gore has become fabulously wealthy on carbon credits and things like that. Rush Limbaugh used to say that the environmental movement is the new home of communism after the fall of the Soviet Union. And Michael Crichton wrote a book about – all of this. And he had a preface or the first chapter of the book talked about, you know, what a big scam it is. And it’s about money and control. And it’s now the religion of the left. It’s instead of the God of Jesus and the Trinity, it’s the God of
SPEAKER 10 :
climate and there’s repentance and and all the tenets of a religion are built into the climate movement and and that’s become the religion of the left it really has become the religion of the left and uh this came in on the text line it says we need an executive order from trump that declares climate change as just weather and that may be coming uh dr june depth
SPEAKER 11 :
I wouldn’t be surprised. During halftime of the Super Bowl, he got rid of the penny, which is something that’s been bothering me for years, that the copper lobby kept it alive. Nobody uses a penny. You can’t buy anything for a penny. We’re largely a cashless society, and years ago, you’d buy something and you’d get four pennies and change, and who wants to carry pennies in their pocket? It just you know, leave them in the tip jar or just throw them out. It’s not worth caring. It’s not like when we were kids, you could get a piece of gum for a penny. But now pennies, nickels, dimes are worthless. They should just round up or round down. Other countries have been doing that for years. And it’s just a common sense thing. We save a little money by getting rid of pennies. So maybe, yes. Climate change is weather.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and to your point is that a billion here, a billion there, and it all adds up. And I think we’ve been wringing our hands and thinking, what can be done about this spending? What can be done about this debt? And I also think that Trump plans on getting this economy really rocking and rolling. And as that economic pie gets bigger and bigger, then you can actually have lower tax rates, but you increase tax revenue. And by doing that, we should be able to pay down our debt and get a handle on this. And we’re in a dangerous time, certainly. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, first we have to get rid of the deficits. And Musk has uncovered $100 billion in Medicare-Medicaid fraud. The Department of Defense hasn’t been audited yet. What about the Department of Education, the Department of Energy? I have a feeling in each of these agencies, you’re probably going to find $100 billion of waste. And all of a sudden, you’re at $1 trillion, and you’ve cut the deficit in half. So it’s not insignificant money. And where’s it going? We don’t know. We need a full audit of this, and I think that’s what’s coming next. But This has been funding so much of the left’s nefarious activities, BLM and Antifa and all this stuff. We’re paying for it. This is all taxpayer money that’s funding the George Floyd riots and all this stuff. We’re paying for that. And as people realize that, they’re not going to be very happy with it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I think that is true. And so shedding light on this is so important. These pieces that you’re writing are also so important, Dr. Brian June Depth. Just a teaser on the next one. Do you have that in? Is that on the typewriter, if you will?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, I’ll have something, I think, tomorrow morning in American Thinker. Interesting on social media, I’ve been seeing posts from generally liberal friends of Oh, somebody told me they regret voting for Trump and they’re so embarrassed and they so regret their votes. And we welcome you back to common sense and sanity. And I think this is all nonsense. I’ve yet to meet a Trump voter that regrets their vote. They’re all ecstatic and they want more. So I’m writing about that, that, no, we don’t regret our vote for Trump. His approval numbers are going up and people are solidly behind him. The applause he got at the Super Bowl compared to Taylor Swift getting booed. That’s a good example of the support he has. And the left is losing its support. So, yes, we we do not regret voting for Trump. Hell no. So that’s the title of it.
SPEAKER 10 :
OK, well, Dr. Jundep, thank you so much. And we’ll talk with you next month.
SPEAKER 11 :
My pleasure. Thanks, Kim.
SPEAKER 10 :
And our quote for the end of the show is from Tom Landry, great football coach. He said, a champion is simply someone who did not give up when he wanted to. So my friends today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you. God bless America. Stay tuned for hour number two.
SPEAKER 07 :

We are an independent voice on an independent station, searching for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. You can hear the show 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday on all KLZ 560 platforms. Those are KLZ 560 a.m., KLZ 100.7 fm, The KLZ website, the KLZ app, show summaries and podcasts are posted on my website. And then also you can hear those podcasts on the streaming services such as Spotify and iTunes. And all of this happens because of our sponsors and all of you. And thank you to the Harris family for their goal sponsorship of the show. I so appreciate them. And so let’s get into it here. Our word of the day is intrepid or intrepidity, which we hear normally every Friday when we do the citations of the Medal of Honor recipients, as we are reading from the Medal of Honor quote book from the Center for American Values. And thought, you know, let’s let’s make sure we understand that word is characterized by resolute fearlessness, fortitude, endurance, bravery, courage and. And the word is intrepid, I-N-T-R-E-P-I-D, or intrepidity, I-N-T-R-E-P-I-D-I-T-Y. Your challenge is to use those words in a sentence today, and you can impress your friends and family. Our quote of the day is from Tom Landry, great football coach, born in 1924, died in the year 2000. He was an American professional football coach, player, World War II veteran. And he’s regarded as one of the greatest head coaches of all time. He coached the Dallas Cowboys for 29 seasons. He said this, the quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence. Our bill of the day, House Bill 25-1134, which this is, let me get over to it. I thought I had it here. Hang with me. I might have. So it’s insect production for human consumption. And it’s a bill from Representative Scott Bottoms, who he’s really typically a freedom guy watching out for everyday people. And I know what he’s probably attempting to do, and that is to protect our food source of our meat production, because that is so under attack. There is a however, though, and that is a problem where I see force on this. And I wanted to get to comments here from one of our listeners. And this was, here we go. This is from Mark. He’s a great thinker on this. He says, good morning, Kim. I looked up House Bill 1134. I agree in theory, again, limiting human consumption of bugs. However, there is verbiage in the bill that states existing businesses are capped at what they’re producing when this bill goes into effect. Between the price cap bill and that verbiage, the state is getting into regulating the free market. And where does that stop? They could then eventually say, hey, you own a small business and you can’t grow and are now capped at XXX revenue a year. This is government overreach. Mark, I have to agree with you. And so we have to have these conversations about these bills. You can understand where there might be something that is well-intentioned, but that freedom versus force question should always be one of our litmus tests on that. And so, again, that is House Bill 1134, insect production for human consumption. If you want to look that up and read it, just go to Colorado Legislature, put in House Bill 25. That would be the year, 25-1134. It’s a relatively short bill, and so you can read it. And we’ll probably talk a little bit more about that, I think, in the last segment with Representative Kindergraf. But again, that that is we want to make sure that we keep government in its proper role and always move towards the free market. That’s why with Yvonne Piaz in the first hour talking about. The Fort Collins trash fee. Again, whenever you see this force, freedom sometimes can be messy. It can be difficult, but we always want to come down on the side of freedom. And so that’s why we need to continue to think about these things. i wanted to say thank you to my fellow board members for the colorado union of taxpayers and we will be having our board meeting tonight this group is doing amazing work as far as watching legislation down at the state house and taking positions on that we send out an email every monday before they get into committee which is at 1 30 in the afternoon we send that to all of our legislators as well as the governor And if you are a member, you will receive that email as well. It only costs $25 a year to join. That’s $2.08 a month. And my gosh, you get amazing analysis. A lot of volunteer time. We’re all volunteers. But this group, when you see them, say thank you to them. Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Rainey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, and Corey Onasorg. They are doing amazing work. And we need to get the word out about the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. So many of you wonder, how can I keep track of what’s happening at the statehouse? Colorado Union of Taxpayers and that website is coloradotaxpayer.org is an excellent tool to have in your toolbox to do that. And regarding headlines, I’d mentioned in the first hour that Colorado House bill or excuse me, Senate Bill 003, which is the anti firearm bill. Looks like that’s laid over, which is is good. Hopefully that’s that’s good. Not going to pass, but again, those that want to take away the rights of everyday people to keep and bear firearms, to protect ourselves against bad actors, are not giving up. Colorado is really the petri dish for all of this legislation. That’s why elections are so important. Kicking around what our next step is going to be on this Reclaim Colorado 2025 election project. So stay tuned on that. Colorado is expensive, and it is because of POLIS, this legislature, all of these PBIs, which are put in place by POLIS. And they say that they will continue to close coal-fired electric plants in 2025 and want them all closed by 2031. Have you looked at your electric bill? Well, thank you to these PBIs and that interested party in there is Xcel Energy. Next thing, there is a poll, and that’s from Center Square, that Colorado voters say that the GOP more represents the working class and addresses top concerns. And next thing, Trump, as we saw the headlines regarding the USAID and closing that down, basically, and the light that is being shed on the amount of money. that has been spent going to things that are really not what they say the stated goal is of USAID has been pretty remarkable to see what’s coming out on that. This next headline, and this is from, let’s see here, it is… This is from Business Insider. It says the Consumer Financial Protection Board tells its workers to not perform any work tasks this week while it shuts down its D.C. headquarters. And so this is going to be super interesting to see the next thing that occurs regarding Doge, the Department of Government Efficiency, that Elon Musk is going into these different bureaucracies and looking at the money that is being spent. Apparently, these bureaucracies have not really been audited. How is that OK? So it’s going to continue to be so interesting about everything that is happening on that. so let’s see um show comes to you because of our sponsors and a great sponsor of the show is the roger mangan state farm insurance team and they know he understands that there are unknowns that can keep you up at night so that is why the roger mangan team can also come up with life insurance and health insurance needs to replace lost income so call roger mangan at 303-795-8855 for a complimentary appointment like a good neighbor the roger mangan insurance team is there And I’m talking with Roger Mangan with the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team. And Roger, there are so many unknowns in life and death. And why should people make sure that they have life insurance coverage?
SPEAKER 05 :
Boy, that’s a million-dollar question. And let me answer it as briefly and concisely as I can. If you give me, as an agent representing State Farm, a $50 check each month, And I can create for you an estate of $500,000. By one simple stroke of the pen, you exchange money for risk. The risk for your family is substantial. You have a mortgage. In most cases, you have kids that have to be raised. They’re going to go to college. It’s probably close to $800,000 for them. from birth to the time kids are emancipated, and hopefully that’s at 21. Today that’s well beyond that. So the cost to raise a family is so significant. If something happens to the primary breadwinners, plural, then either or of them are going to be under substantial duress financially. So you want to trade your $50 a month, Depending on your age and your insurability, for $500,000 of money, we will instantly create a pot of money for you in that transaction that will go to your family tax-free at the time of death. Now, so I feel most people don’t look at it that way, so I’m trying to make the point. If you don’t have an adequate amount of insurance and you’re relying on your employer… That’s usually not enough, you know. So give us a call. Let us talk to you about that because I think it’s essential for you to get a handle on how to create this estate by a transfer of your $50 give it to State Farm, and they’ll put $500,000 in an account for you in advance you die.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and you said one thing that people may not have really honed in on, and that is if something happens and that life insurance policy is used, that it is transferred over to the heirs tax-free.
SPEAKER 05 :
Absolutely. Absolutely. That is a critical feature. That’s term insurance I’m talking about. You can buy other kinds of insurance. There’s enough insurance product out there to totally confuse the public. So let’s not get into that at this point, but it’s worth noting that it’s not hard to create that estate for the benefit of your heirs, your children, your wife, your husband.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and one other thing, we’ve talked about this in the past, and that is also that you want to buy your life insurance from a company that has great finances. And State Farm is a very solid company.
SPEAKER 05 :
Absolutely. We’re triple A-rated, A-plus rated by all the rating agencies, so I think you would be wise to… When you make that decision to make sure the company you’re buying it from has the financial strength to back up its claims.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. And so to get more information, set up an appointment to talk about this. What’s the best number for people to reach you?
SPEAKER 05 :
You can call us at 303-795-8855. That’s the right. Go ahead. I’m sorry. My great team is there to help you.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I was going to say the same thing, that Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance team can certainly help you with that. And like a good neighbor. The Roger Megan State Farm Insurance team is there.

Something’s a good idea. You should not have to force people to do it. Please dab on the line with me, Rebecca LaFrenz. And you know her. She’s known as the praying grandma. And on January 6, 2021, a few days before, she felt compelled. She felt the good Lord put on her heart that she needed to get in her car, drive across the country to Washington, D.C., so that she could pray for our country. Ultimately, then she got a knock on the door, accusing her of, I think, breaching the Capitol. Rebecca Lovrenz, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, thank you so much for having me on, Kim. I am delighted to be on your show, as always.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and am I getting this right? You go to Washington, D.C., you are praying over the Capitol, you end up going into the Capitol for a few minutes, and then months later, you get a knock on your door.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, that’s exactly what happened. Didn’t think I did anything wrong. I was just standing up for my country and believed that the people in authority there were the ones that had opened the door for us, let down the barriers, and was shocked when I got a knock on the door in April of 2021, and they asked if I could be, and they said they wanted to investigate me for my involvement in January 6th. And here I am.
SPEAKER 10 :
And so you ended up getting convicted of a crime, right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. And I was charged and arrested in December of 2022. And then because of different things that occurred, I had decided that God did not want me to take a plea because I was doing something for him. And I felt really directed to go into the Capitol House. Like you said, I had been there just to fast and pray. And during the events that occurred that day about 1 o’clock, I felt impressed by God’s that he told me, you know, if those doors open, would you carry my presence into the building? So out of obedience to God is why I went in the building, plus standing up for my First Amendment right, which is we have the right to address our government for redress of grievances. And so then because of being led by God to do that, there was no way I could take a plea. It just wasn’t possible in my heart. So I actually went to trial on March of 24, 25. Fifth is when the trial started, was convicted on the 4th of April on four charges, four federal misdemeanor charges. Went, felt like after the conviction of guilt, God wanted me to go out and tell my story to as many people on interviews such as yours, and I did. And then when I was sentenced in August of last year on the 12th, the prosecution was very adamant that they thought I was too loud of a voice. for January 6th, contrary to what their narrative they wanted out. So I was sentenced to six months house arrest, a year of probation, banned from the internet, and then fined $103,000. So you had to pay that $103,000? No, my legal team said, well, I was charged, you know, that I had to do that. But the probation and my judge and the attorney said, just, you know, pay whatever you can. So I’ve been paying that because we are appealing my case. They felt that if I pay, you know, that I was just supposed to pay whatever I could. So I did. I haven’t paid it all yet. So we’re waiting on what that I think that may be removed. But we have to clarify that.
SPEAKER 10 :
goodness so last time we talked you were on house arrest and explaining what that looked like that was before donald trump was elected donald trump has issued uh pardons uh for many of the people that were being held regarding january 6th and so what happened did you get a pardon what’s going on with that
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. So on the 20th, we all know that. I mean, if you watch all the executive orders and things that President Trump has done, he did issue a pardon for all but 14 of the J6 defendants. The other 14 had their sentences commuted. But I was called the next evening. Fortunately, my judge had given me permission through a motion we filed to allow me to go to the inauguration, which I did, still wearing my monitor, and then three days later, And then on the way back on Wednesday, I believe it was, so that would have been two days. No, I guess it was Tuesday, the very next day. I was on a flight, ready to go on a flight going back, and I had a call from my probation officer said that because I’ve been pardoned, I can take off to monitor. But it’s a little bit complicated because initially, my legal team was not clear whether if accepting the pardon would nullify my right to appeal my case. So I was not willing to just cut my monitor off because, as I said before, I mean, I went there to defend my country. I think our country has and still is in a lot of trouble because a lot of people do not understand that we have to – are tried and convicted of things that are really unconstitutional. And then those judgments are on the case law. And so this will affect future generations. And I’m not okay with that because at my trial, the judge did instruct the jury at my trial that I did not have a First Amendment right at the Capitol. And if that’s on the books, then for the generations, my grandchildren, your great-grandchildren may have to fight this battle again, and I’m not willing to do that. So that is why I’m still appealing my case and hope to have those rulings overturned by higher court so that when they look at case law, they won’t say, oh, we don’t have a First Amendment right at the Capitol. And I hope that makes sense. Maybe I need to clarify some of that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I think let me see if I’ve got it. So you will. And do you still have your monitor on or did you have you taken that off?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, let me skip that part. So that my probation officer said that. When she called me on that Tuesday when I was getting ready to get on flight, she said, you can cut your monitor off and then just bring it back at the end of the week when you’re back to Colorado because I want to fly back to Colorado. Well, because I wasn’t sure what to do, I kept it on as long as I thought possible because I wanted to be clear on that, whether I could deny or accept. And according to what my legal team has said, I really can’t deny the pardon. As far as I know, the denial of the pardon actually – Or the pardon means that I’ve been forgiven, but doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m exonerated or that I’m freed or cleared from my guilt at the conviction. However, so then on Thursday of that week, when I got back, I got a call from my… probation officer says you need to cut your monitor off immediately so and if you don’t we’ll come out there and cut it off so anyway we had a little cutting off ceremony um my son came over and we did a little video that put on facebook just to um but i am free now so the sentence the actually the pardon does i do not have a monitor i’m free to go where i need to go and my all the restrictions that security when i go through the airport that’s been off and i i I’m off house arrest. And so it’s very much a freeing thing. And I feel good to be able to go around. But there’s part of me that’s very I’m very, very grateful for what President Trump did for me, for all the J6 defendants, because we need it was very unjust. But we still have a battle on our hands to make sure the narrative doesn’t continue that we were all criminals. And just, you know, that we were treated the way we were and not just treated the way we were. But I mean, this wasn’t a fair. There weren’t fair trials. We were not given opportunity to share all the discovery and things and video and things like that, which could have just exonerated our cases. But we have to keep appealing that so the truth can come out. We can’t shove everything under the rug what happened to January 6th. And that’s what we need to fight for.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and one of our listeners just texted. She said, what? No First Amendment right at the Capitol? This is the people’s house. I think that we forget that. And I went down to the Colorado State Capitol to testify last week. And I thought it was very ironic in Sanctuary City, Denver, and many of those representatives in the state capitol are very pro-sanctuary city. I thought it was so ironic that I had to go through a metal detector and there were guards and basically there was a… a fence around that people’s house. And there’s a fence around the people’s house in Washington, D.C. And that was at the time that the moving into the Biden-Harris administration as well. I just I just find it all so interesting.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, it is very interesting. And because it has gradually happened, people don’t realize how serious that is, I think, because we should have a right to that capital. But because we have put those that we’ve elected and we’ve put them in such a high position in our head that we don’t see that we have to learn. We have to educate ourselves. We have to know our rights as well. as citizens of the United States of America. And we have to exercise that right. If we sit back and do nothing because we are, we are, you know, fearful or whatever, and don’t know our rights, then we just abdicate our authority to those who will gladly take it because they’re all about wanting more power and more greed. But those people that we have elected, the vice, vice president Pence, vice president, or I mean, the, And the representatives that we have put in office, they are there to represent us. And that’s what I feel was such – stirred up such emotion in so many of us during that time of January 6th because you’re not listening to us. We put you in that office. And whoever is holding us back, we weren’t dangerous. None of us – there was nobody that – you know, Ashley Babbitt didn’t have a – have a gun or anything you know it’s just like why are you putting making us the criminals you know you need to listen to us and i think that’s what basically we thought that if we would be allowed to go forward in which i think we i did anyway i didn’t push those barriers down you can even see that on the videos but um we need to uh allow our voices to be heard we need to be heard and that’s First of all, I’m so thankful that you’re letting me on this call, so you’re letting my voice be heard so other people can understand the truth of what really happened, what I was charged with, and what I could and couldn’t say. Kim, if you were at my trial, you would have been very angry to see what was not allowed.
SPEAKER 10 :
So, Rebecca LaVrenz, first of all, you obedient to our Lord on what he put on your heart to do. And you want to make sure that you continue to appeal this case because this is for the ages. This is this is. Do we actually have freedom of speech? Do we have the right to address our grievances with our government? These are key foundational principles that you are standing for, and we want to continue the discussion. And we are an independent voice on an independent station. And all that happens because of all of the support that you give us. And also these great sponsors. And Lavaca Meat Company really is a premium product. And talking with Rebecca LaVrenz. She’s known as the praying grandmother. And she felt on her heart, the good Lord put a tug on her heart, that she needed to get in her car, drive by herself across the country to Washington, D.C., so that she could be there on January 6th, 2021, to pray for our country. She ended up, barricades came down, she ended up going into the Capitol for not very long, prayed in the Capitol, and a few months later gets a knock on the door and says that she’s accused of a crime. And ultimately, she was convicted of a crime and put on house arrest and said that she had to pay a big fine. And she was offered a plea And she said, I’m not going to do that because this is an important issue for my children, my grandchildren, for the ages, I would say, Rebecca Lorenz. It’s a big deal, and you are taking a very important stand on this.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, it’s a very big deal, Kim. Yeah, and it’s interesting. You just said it so succinctly because that’s exactly what was on my heart. I realized after I did that, first of all, when I first came out, or when all this happened, that people were being arrested, I just thought, there’s no way that anybody would come after me. I was there just by myself, not involved with anything. I wasn’t even on Facebook. But I realized later that this is, like you said, for the ages, it’s God had called me up. You have an assignment to stand for the covenant that we have with America. And I think that’s what, as time developed, well, even at the Capitol itself, that’s what happened to that day before I even went into the Capitol, I noticed there was a group praying on the side of the Capitol. And I went over there and God just led me through his presence and an intercessory time, about 10 minutes that lasted that time. I prayed the 1620 Mayflower compact at that outside the Capitol. And, which says that this land that those pilgrims set foot on in 1620, they dedicated this land for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith. And I think that, Kim, is the basic reason why I was called up, because God wants a people that will recognize that God is faithful. the one who ordained and originated this country to be in itself. And if we need to get back to a godly nation, and I think that’s what my assignment is right now. So I will continue the fight and it’s getting bigger all the time.
SPEAKER 10 :
So what’s the next steps? You now offered a plea. My understanding would be if you took the plea, you would admit guilt. Is that right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. A plea would, you know, like I had charged for was charged with four misdemeanors. And if I would plead guilty to one of them, then they would hopefully be nicer on the other sentencing. Because if they total them out, it could have been, you know, I could have spent time in prison, but. When I have lived all my life since I became a Christian as a teenager, I have lived that I have one goal in life is to know Jesus and make him known and let him be number one in my life. And that’s the story of my life. I’m not here on my own accord. God put me here on this earth for a purpose and a reason. And And as I developed my walk with the Lord, I realized that I’m here to fulfill whatever His assignment is. And because God loves each one on this planet, He’s going to call certain people up if they’re willing to say yes and just stand up and fight for the truth and things that are important for more people to know the truth. And I think that’s why developing a relationship with God, standing for covenant, that’s why I had to do what I had to do. And I could never… Could never take a plea when God is the one that called me to stand up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, so next things that are going to happen. You mentioned that the judge for this trial did not allow some things in discovery. I’m learning that that, I don’t know if I want to say it’s a game, but in a way it’s kind of a legal game. I think that we as citizens think that, oh, all the evidence will be there, and then that way people, the jury, can make informed decisions. But if the judge prevents evidence, key things from, as you mentioned, video, a variety of things, if he prevents that from being used as evidence and then directs the jury that they can only make their decision or they can make their decision only on what is presented in court. And then I think I remember you said that he directed the jury that they could not consider your right to freedom of speech. Well, that skews things a little bit, Rebecca.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, that is exactly right because my attorneys have – they did – I mean, that’s all they did in the last four, three, four years is do January 6th cases. And they had tons of them. Plus, they were aware of all the other cases, how many cases were out there. And at every case, they said these cases, when they go into deliberation after the case is presented, they usually get a guilty verdict within an hour to two hours. Well, my – My jury deliberation lasted over 25 hours, three days. And the reason, because I believe, because I mean, I’m not saying I’m better than anybody, but if you look at any of what I did, there was absolutely no violence on my part. And my jury, I believe, saw that. I was able to take the witness stand and give my part. But because the different boundaries or whatever, I forget what the legal term is, but before the trial, there’s a pretrial conference, and all these stipulations are put on what you can and cannot do. And And I was appalled, Kim. I’ve never been involved too much in attorney things at all, legal cases at all. But when I got there, I felt exactly like most of the public, which you just said, would probably think that everything would be presented. Well, when I got there, there were video footage and words on the audio on these videos that clearly showed there were things that weren’t that would prove my innocence. But we couldn’t show them.
SPEAKER 10 :
OK, Rebecca, I think you might have hit the mute button. OK, or maybe we’ll try to get her back on here. OK, OK, we’re going to go to break. We’ll be right back. And welcome back to The Kim Monson Show. Check out our website. That’s Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You can email me at Kim at KimMonson.com as well. Rebecca LaVrenz is on the line. She is known as the praying grandmother. She went to Washington, D.C., January 6, 2021. And we just wanted to finish up. Rebecca, we lost you as you were just kind of giving us your last final thought. You are appealing your case. You have received a pardon from President Trump. But this is so important. So next steps, what does this look like? And obviously, you would appreciate our prayers. You’re on my prayer list every day.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. Well, just briefly, the problem we’re having right now is just because these cases have been all pardoned, though they have not necessarily been exonerated or freed from guilt, the justice system right now and the judges are trying to stop all the appeals, and that’s what we’re wanting to do. We don’t want our… Because of the way that we were pardoned, then they’re saying these cases are moot, which would nullify our right to have an appeal, apparently. And so that’s what we are fighting against. So that’s what I basically would appreciate prayer for, that the judges would not stop, be able to call our cases moot and not be able to continue with the appeal process. So the first step, one of the briefs for my attorneys is due this month. So we will see how far that goes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, again, this is so important for our children and our grandchildren. And so, Rebecca, we’ll keep you in our prayers. Let’s keep us in the loop on what is going on. And thank you for your courage for standing up for our American idea and really appreciate it. So thank you. Just God bless you. Thank you. Thanks so much, Kim. And we’re going to jump over here now with Representative Ken DeGraff. He is, I had it written down, representative of, I did not write it down. Representative Ken DeGraff, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 04 :
House District 22, but we’re supposed to represent all of Colorado. So I represent all of Colorado from House District 22.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and you are really standing in the gap there with what you guys are now called the Fab Four. Is that right?
SPEAKER 03 :
I have heard that, yes. Yes. So that’s funny.
SPEAKER 10 :
And that’s Stephanie Luck, Representative Luck. That’s Representative Scott Bottoms, Representative Kindergraf, and Representative Brandy Bradley. And so thank you. So let’s talk about a couple of these bills that you wanted to make sure people had on their radar. The first one was, I think it’s Stephanie Luck’s bill, is requirements for filling certain vacancies in offices. Why is this important, Kindergraf?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well… So right now we have, I don’t know the exact number, but we have quite a few representatives that have been appointed by just a very small number of people. And then they, on a vacancy committee, that could be, you know, like you have 10 representatives or something that have been put there by 200 people total, you know, because it’s just the vacancy committee. But then once they’re in that vacancy committee, Then they go into the next election with incumbency. Chris Hansen would be one of those. He was appointed by a vacancy committee, and then he was obviously one of the most radical people there. say he was an elected lobbyist, and then he went on to be, after jacking up the electrical rates for eight years, then he went on to, after re-election, went over to La Plata Electric as a CEO. So apparently he was applying for the job. And there’s a number of other ones that have just been appointed by a handful of radicals. And then they go into the next election as the incumbent. So, you know, there’s certain advantages of that to have some, you know, smooth flow and all that, but it’s really not indicative. So Bob Marshall has a bill on that. Stephanie has a bill on that. I haven’t really been able to dig into the nuts and bolts of Stephanie’s bill yet.
SPEAKER 10 :
OK, and so there’s a large percentage of I have this now in air quotes, representatives down at the statehouse that have not been voted into office by the people, but in fact have been put into office by these vacancy committees. And we’ve seen that this is a little bit, I think, of a game because there were two Democrat candidates. Representatives or senators that within a week or two weeks after being elected, that they resigned their seats. And then as this vacancy committee then selected representatives to go into those seats. those positions. And then your example regarding Chris Hansen, then he moves on to a job that’s probably pretty cushy into, and that’s not really the private sector, but into not in the elected sector, I’ll put that. And so this is really important, this bill that Stephanie Luck has brought forward.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, I think so. I think so. We need to get the representation back. And so there’s various ways to do it. And, you know, hopefully, you know, we get some sort of mashup of, you know, the best way. So I know Stephanie’s, you know, of course, is going to be very well thought out.
SPEAKER 10 :
Most definitely. Let’s move over here to your bill, and that is to repeal the National Vote Compact. And last week, Mary Jansen, who’s one of my fellow board members on the cut board, she and I talked a bit about this. But it’s House Bill 25-1102, repeal the National Popular Vote Compact. So talk to us a little bit about that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, that came from Prop 113. And as you probably remember, Rose Pugliese and Don Wilson were pretty instrumental in putting up a solid fight against that. But ultimately, the Democrats basically tricked the population in saying vote to protect the Electoral College. So people actually voted yes because they thought it was protecting the Electoral College the way they made the ads. And when what they were doing is voting yes, actually, for the popular vote. So a lot of confusion. They were also promised that it wouldn’t cost anything. And we know now that that’s not true. They’ll they’ll be if implemented, there’ll be quite a constitutional crisis because other states that are not signed on will will will definitely have a problem. I’m hoping that the Democrats will realize that this isn’t a great idea because President Trump would have taken all of Colorado’s electoral votes and would have, in fact, taken 521 out of 538 electoral votes by winning the popular vote. So when people asked the Democrats if we were going to give them Colorado’s vote, they were quite adamant that no, they would not. So they did not seem to like that. proposition so obviously they just thought with uh controlling the election machines that they were going to be controlling and importing lots of illegal aliens that they were going to be controlling the popular vote forever so um now you know how that’s going to play out as uh trump drains their uh electoral coffers uh with doge then we’ll see how that plays out but I’m hoping that they will get back. The popular vote is not a new idea. It was kicked around when they were drafting the Constitution, trying to figure that out. It was one of the ways. The Electoral College allows, kind of compartmentalizes all of the states. So if you have a state like Chicago that’s just inherently corrupt, then or Colorado, Illinois, then it doesn’t ruin everything for everybody else. So it kind of compartmentalizes it with the Electoral College, spreads out the representation, and then, of course, doesn’t just turn over the vote to big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, who can’t even manage their own… who can’t even manage their own cities. So why would we give them any sort of control over middle America?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, but that’s why they would like to have control over middle America so that that everybody else can help pay for their terrible decisions and their terrible mistakes. So you hit on something, Representative DeGraff, and that is, is I think that the radical activists that have taken over the Democrat Party thought that they would never lose another popular vote. And after Joe Biden received 81 million votes from his basement and then in the next election, Kamala Harris, six million of those votes didn’t show up. You have to go, well, what happened to all of those votes? So I think that all of the work that was done regarding the integrity of our elections is I think really was a contributing factor to Donald Trump. winning the election. And so those pushing the national popular vote, I think, never thought that they would ever have to have this dilemma of, in fact, Colorado’s votes would have gone to Donald Trump. And when you couch it that way, I’ve got to think that most Democrats would say, no, we would like to make sure that Colorado’s votes go the way Colorado votes. Yes?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. Yeah, I would think so. And like I talked to a Democrat last Friday and he he said, you know, everybody on the Democrat side is worried about, you know, how far this goes, all these things that Trump and like, well, yeah, that’s what we were worried about when, you know, Biden and Harris were in office. Like, how far how far does this go? What what does this look like? You know, it’s a little bit different for them now that they’re on the side of not, you know, not being inherently trust trusting of government. So it’s like, well, this is good. you’re back on the side maybe of not trusting government implicitly, which is, you know, really where we should all be.
SPEAKER 10 :
How do you think that’s going to play out here at the Colorado State House? The work that you all are doing as Republicans to hold the line in the House of Representatives and in the Senate is pretty monumental right now with the majorities that the Democrats have in both houses.
SPEAKER 04 :
It is. It is. People ask, why are you not passing this? Why are you not repealing that? And it’s like, well, I mean, we can’t. Now, I think with an honest election, we would have had more representation there. But I think the important thing for Colorado is that we are, as a body, not just being, well, we’re here being Republicans, but that we’re promoting and forwarding the values of our our republic. I mean, a big difference between the two parties is that, you know, Republicans have a standard by which we can hold ourselves, and those are the values of our republic. So if somebody calls themselves a Republican but doesn’t adhere to the values, then, you know, it doesn’t really matter. They’re not a Republican. We have a set of values, and that’s our founding documents, whereas the Democrats Anybody, you know, their value is anything that the majority wants. So, you know, if, you know, the radical, you know, the radical stuff that they have going on with, like, transgender, the unsatiable taxation, you know, that is the Democrat Party. That is who they are right now. So I think people, my sense from everybody that I talk to is that people really are wanting to go back to the values of our republic. And I think as we as Republicans promote that, we will gain strength. We’ll grow following. People email us and say, hey, I see you guys are willing to fight. If you’re willing to actually fight, I’m willing to get engaged. Because when we had people that were in the have been in office. Look how many times we’ve had majorities in the House and Senate federally, and we think, oh, we’re going to get something done. And then the politicians just start spending on different pet projects with no real difference than Democrats. And then that’s when I think you turn people off because people say, well, you’re not really different. We as Republicans have a standard that we hold ourselves.
