SPEAKER 03 :
It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 10 :
I find that it takes work to get your brain around these ideas, and it takes work to engage in these conversations.
SPEAKER 03 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 10 :
With what is happening down at the Statehouse, I used to think that it was above my pay grade to read the legislation, and it’s not.
SPEAKER 03 :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
SPEAKER 10 :
I see big danger in as much as we will be giving an unelected bureaucrat the power to make rules about what we inject into our bodies.
SPEAKER 03 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 10 :
Indeed, let’s have a conversation. Welcome to the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today’s drive for excellence, take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. And thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Greatly appreciate them. And happy Thursday, Producer Joe. Happy Thursday, Kim. And we’ve got a great show planned for them, Joe. And check out our website. That’s Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter there. You’ll get first look at our upcoming guests as well as our most recent essays. You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com. And thank you to all of you who support us. We are an independent voice on an independent station searching for truth and clarity. by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And it’s never compassionate to take other people’s stuff, whether or not it’s their rights, their property, freedom, livelihood, opportunities, their childhood, or their lives via force. And force could be a weapon, policy, unpredictable and excessive taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, the agenda of the World Economic Forum and the globalist elites playing out through the United Nations, this Colorado state legislature, this Colorado governor. And then we see land use codes and zoning regulations and forest fees and conservation easements, national monument designations, and the list goes on and on and on. And socialism is not about free stuff. The free stuff is just to get people to vote for it. Socialism ultimately has to come down to force. And everyday people do not do very well under socialism and communism. And we focus on the issues, not the personalities on the show. We’ll certainly talk about people and the issues that they’re pushing forward. But when we get over here in the personality side, that takes our eye off the ball on what really we need to be focusing on. So we’re trying to be really, really disciplined regarding that. I want to say thank you to Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of the show because it is reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant energy that fuels our lives and powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. That whole industry has been under attack. We sit on amazing reserves here in Colorado and this Colorado legislature and governor is trying to really put our energy companies out of business, our coal companies, our natural gas companies, our oil companies through rules and regulations and taxes and fees. And while I really am very excited about things that are happening on the national level here in Colorado, we really see a doubling down on trying to put our oil and gas businesses out of business, of course, coal as well. And so that’s why we do the show is so that we can continue to shed light on all of these things. Be sure and join the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. You can do that by going to coloradotaxpayer.org. I think so. I should have that totally memorized. Let me get that for you quickly. And it’s only $25. And we are watching it. Yeah, it’s coloradotaxpayer.org. And we are watching legislation down at the Statehouse so that you can be informed on what is happening down there. and take actions on that. As of right now, there’s 503 bills that have been introduced, bills or resolutions that have been introduced down at the State House. And we’re only, gosh, six, seven weeks into the session. We’ve got two more months approximately, a little over two months left on that. And the Colorado Union of Taxpayers has taken positions on 152 of those particular bills. And if you want to get the email that we, we try to get it out on Mondays. I was traveling this Monday and just how the sheer volume of what it was that we were working on, I got it out on Tuesday. But you will get that email and that will go to all of the legislators, the governor, and those of you on our email list. And so join us. That way you know what’s going on and can start to take action on things as well. Our word of the day is factious, and it is spelled F-A-C-T-I-O-U-S. It’s an adjective. It could be given to or characterized by promoting internal dissension or insubordinate behavior. Number two, it could be given to faction addicted to foreign parties and raise dissensions in opposition to government. I find as I look at these And I probably should really go to I’ve got a whole bunch of hardcover and old dictionaries. I should probably go to that instead of looking on the Internet, because there are sometimes I find some of the social justice stuff in here. And this might be one of them. It says in opposition to government or the common good. So it’s implying that government is focused on the common good, which. uh in in our founding certainly we we do that the common good though is um i would say really conserving the idea of america that all men are created equal with these rights rights from god of life liberty and pursuit of happy happiness so anyway it goes on to say it could be turbulent seditious prone to clamor against public measures or men and um I would say that I’m going to go with the first definition here of factious, and that’s given to characterized by or promoting internal dissension. And I think we’re seeing a lot of that, particularly with the headlines with USAID, that the Trump administration has uncovered that there were lots of dollars going to factious activities. factious organizations, organizations that wanted to take down America. And so I think your job is to try to use factious in a sentence today and continue to impress your friends and family with your expanding vocabulary. Our quote of the day is Thomas Paine. He was born in 1737. He died in 1736. And he was an English-born American founding father, a French revolutionary, inventor, and political philosopher. He authored Common Sense in 1776. and the American Crisis in 1776 to 1783, two of the most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution, and helped to inspire the colonial era patriots in 1776 to declare independence from Great Britain. And he said this, he said, I prefer peace, but if trouble must come, let it come in my time so that my children can live in peace. And that is Thomas Paine. Our bill of the day will be talking with Senator John Carson in the next segment regarding his Senate Bill 25138, permanent reductions to state income tax. So stay tuned on that. First headline that I think. think that I’m going to go to. This one is pretty remarkable. This is from the Daily Caller and it says, regretful illegal migrants are flocking home in droves after the Trump border crackdown. And it says Latin American immigrants are turning around and expressing regret at attempting to cross unlawfully into the United States under President Donald Trump’s watch. The U.S.-Mexico border has become unusually quiet in the past several weeks with Border Patrol encounters stooping to levels not experienced in decades. The drop is being attributed to the Trump effect, where dramatically ramped up enforcement policies and nixing of government services have prompted many illegal migrants to simply turn around and not bother entering the United States. And this is, I think, just huge. And yesterday when I was talking with Trent Luce, we were talking, actually, I think it was with Greg Walcher regarding water. And certainly we have water challenges here in the metro area. One of the reasons is, is because we’ve not built any water storage facilities in a long time because environmentalists have really stood in the way to do that. But if we, as my friend Ivana said, you can’t have water conservation if you don’t have water storage. And so to bring more and more people into the metro area and not be figuring out water storage is really irresponsible. But then additionally, reports that there were 40,000 illegal immigrants that were in the Denver metro area, thanks to the sanctuary policies of Mayor Mike Johnston. Well, just think about the drain on resources that that is not only water, but housing, our schools, all of that. And so we need to to make sure that we’re understanding just what illegal immigration, what that is doing to Next thing, and this was sent over to me by another Bill Rutledge that I met up in Steamboat. And this is from What’s Up With That? And this is huge. It says the EPA tells the White House to strike down this landmark climate finding. The Washington Post published a report stating that the EPA advised the Trump administration to repeal the 2009 endangerment finding, which classifies greenhouse gases as a threat to public health and welfare. This finding has underpinned federal emissions regulations for over a decade. The Post suggests that such a move, if enacted, would mark a significant shift in U.S. climate policy. The story is relying on unnamed sources, leaving its claims unverified but noteworthy given the potential implications. The Post article indicates that Trump administration officials are evaluating whether to reverse the endangerment finding, a determination first made under the Obama administration, and later used by the Biden administration to impose limits on vehicle and power plant emissions. The report cites three individuals briefed on the matter who mentioned Mandy Gunasekara, a former EPA chief of staff and contributor to Project 2025, and Jonathan Brightbill, a former Justice Department official as advisors involved in the effort. So this is gonna be huge. I did find another article and this, it looks like the enviros are going to fight this tooth and nail. So stay tuned on that, that’s huge. Another thing that I wanted to mention is this Saturday, March 1st, 11 to 2 in Fort Collins at the corner of Timberline and Prospect. There will be a march in support of Tina Peters. She is currently incarcerated at the Larimer County Jail. And this march will be to show support for her. She was convicted on what I consider process crimes. And really they not only threw the book at her regarding sentencing, but the complete encyclopedia. She was sentenced to nine years in jail or prison time. And so Saturday, March 1st, bring your signs, your prayers, and your voices 11 to 2 at Timberline and Prospect in Fort Collins. And we talk about all these important things because of our sponsors. And one of those great sponsors is the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team. Give them a call for a complimentary appointment, 303-795-8855. We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And one of the ways that we see a lot of force is money that’s taken from us via taxes. And so I’m pleased to talk with Senator John Carson from Douglas County regarding his bill, Senate Bill 25-138, permanent reductions to state income tax. Senator Carson, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 08 :
Hey, good morning, Kim. Great to be on. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, very pleased to have you. And there are so many pieces of legislation down at the Statehouse that take away more freedom, more money from everyday hardworking Coloradans. This Senate Bill 25-138 is a breath of fresh air.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, I think so. I’ll give you a little rundown on it. So what this would do is… If you recall last year, one of the good things they did do last year was do a temporary reduction in the state income tax rate from 4.4 percent to 4.25. And the way they did that was, you know, we had such a huge Tabor surplus that they were able to both give sales tax refunds and also reduce the state income tax. So the first thing my bill would do, unfortunately, I will say that is just temporary, and it’s going to go back up to 4.4 next year. My bill would make it permanent. That’s the first step, make that rate 4.25%. And then over the next 10 years, it would gradually reduce the income tax rate. And we peg that to the amount of the TABR surplus. If you think about it, the TABR surplus is just an interest-free loan that we give to the state government. And so when people say, well, reducing the tax rate will reduce the TABR surplus, well, that’s correct. It’s because people are being allowed just to keep their money, more of their money in the first place. So I don’t want folks to get confused kind of with the semantics there with Tabor, but by reducing the tax rate continually over the next 10 years, people will just be able to keep more of their own money. And Tabor is just a reflection of the fact that the state government is collecting more money from people than they should. As Tabor tells us, Tax revenues can only go up in this state, fortunately, due to a constitutional amendment Tabor put in in 1992 that says revenues can’t go up faster than the growth in population and inflation. And so we’re going to keep buying down that state income tax rate. And in 2035, the bill I’ve introduced would eliminate it entirely. And I can talk about why I think that’s a great idea real quick here. You know, nine states in the United States don’t have a state income tax. Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. And they are in the lower with the exception of Washington. I don’t know why this is. They just love to tax in Washington. But the rest of those states are all in the lower tier of overall tax burden in the country. You know, our taxes have gone up in Colorado. We’re now numbered, according to WalletHub, we’re right in the middle, 24th in overall tax burden. I’d like to get us down below. We should be in that bottom tier of tax burdens in the states.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I think this is so creative. Now, I had a question. You and I talked a little bit about it yesterday because the Colorado Union of Taxpayers, I didn’t totally understand it. And we are in favor of this. And so we are a yes on this. But I didn’t understand on the fiscal note the way it was saying that it was affecting Tabor. And you said that that’s a little bit misleading from the fiscal note. Yes or what? Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
OK, tell me about that. It’s actually it’s actually very misleading because when you reduce the think about it, when you reduce the income tax rate, the amount of the Taylor surplus is going to go down because you’re allowing people to keep their tax money on the front end. So, you know, it’s like on your federal income taxes, when everybody gets excited, they get a tax refund. when they fill out their tax form, well, all that means is that you gave an interest-free loan to the federal government during the year, and now you’re getting that back. Well, you should have just had a lower tax rate from the start, and that’s what this bill would do, is it would give us that lower state income tax rate each year, continually going down, and then… In 2035, it would eliminate it entirely. And, you know, there’s actually nine states in addition to those nine that don’t have a rate. an income tax. There’s nine states this year that cut their state income tax rate, and some of them by quite a bit. Iowa went down from 5.7 to 3.8. Louisiana went from 4.25 to 3%. So we’ve got to be competitive in Colorado and keep ratcheting down our state income tax rate and make the economy competitive. The Democrats will say, well, This loses so much revenue. How are you going to keep the government running? Well, two things. Number one, this is going to help boost the economy in Colorado. Even the demographic note that they do even shows that. A lot of commentary on the likely dynamic effect of this bill in growing the economy. So we’ll have more revenue coming in from the sales tax and from the corporate income tax, which will still be in place. And secondly, everybody, their demographic note, which they wanted to put out there to show that this is skewed to help the wealthy, well, it actually shows that every single income class group in the state would get a tax cut. And the economic boost is going to help particularly the lower income and the middle income folks with great jobs, small business growth, a boost in the economy in the state. So I think it’s a great bill for the future of Colorado.
SPEAKER 10 :
That demographic note, I remember either was a piece of legislation or it was a ballot question. I can’t remember which now. But I did think that it was going to be used to try to put people into different groups. And I’ve looked a little bit at that demographic thing. It looks like it’s complicated. Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, the Democrats request that so they can make the argument. that it’s only helping the wealthy, but it may divide it into nine different income groups. And every single one of those actually gets a tax cut with, with eliminating the state income tax. And, you know, they break it down by race and sex and all sorts of things. And, you know, they’re trying to make the argument that it’s, it only helps upper income folks and, and, and, and, it doesn’t help minorities and those type usual democratic arguments, but it is going to help everybody because the, as I said, when you cut taxes, as you cut well knows you boost the economy, you help people create jobs and businesses and, and make Colorado more competitive. We really kind of lost that edge in Colorado in the last couple of decades, we used to be much lower tax. We used to be much more competitive. And now you see Colorado just kind of, wallowing along in the middle of the pack. I want us to do a lot better than that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and the CU Leeds School of Business recently had released a report that Colorado, which had been, I think, in the top 10 in economic growth, forecasted economic growth, is now 41st in the nation. And that is because of all of the rules and regulations and taxes and fees. Yep. So Senator John Carson, Jared Polis, governor of Colorado, there’s rumblings that he may want to try to make a run for president. And in doing so, he’s apparently indicated he would be supportive of getting rid of the income tax. So what’s your ear to the ground on that whole thing?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. Well, I actually – so there’s a hearing this morning on the bill. And, of course, the Democrats control all the committees in the state Senate, so they’ve got a majority on the committee. But it’s up this morning, probably about 11. Folks can listen to it on the TV station or get a rewind of it. It is. I do make this comment in my statement that I’m in agreement with Governor Polis that we need to get rid of the state income tax. So I don’t know, you know, I don’t think he’s done much on that front. He did push. I’d like to see him do a lot more, but he did push for that reduction from 4.4 to 4.25 last year. And I hope he’ll keep doing more. Of course, he’s only going to be governor for another year, but A little more than a year, but I’ll keep pushing to get this. And if I can work with the governor to get something good done like this, that’s great.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and Senator Carson, this came in on the text line. It says, do you think that there’s a way that we can disconnect taxes from property values to use a different method on that because people are really hurting from these high property taxes? I know that’s a little different area in income tax, but what’s your thoughts on this regarding property taxes?
SPEAKER 08 :
well i certainly support anything we can do to reduce property taxes and that’s of course at the county level but um that has just gone up ridiculously due to the assessed values and i think the texter is right we need to figure out a way to cap that or or give more relief there we do have the senior property tax exemption but i’d like to see a lot more of a reduction there it’s still going up even though cuts were reductions in the growth in the property taxes were made last year at the legislative level. We need to do a lot more on that front because that’s the overall tax burden. When you add in income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, we are over approaching 9% of people’s income in this state is going to state and local taxes. And that’s on top of all the federal taxes, you know, you add all that stuff together, you know, we’re looking at 40, Forty percent plus that people are sending in in taxes. So it’s gotten out of control. You know, that’s why I love what’s going on in Washington with President Trump and Elon Musk. We’ve got to get this spending and taxation under control at all levels of government.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. And so I really appreciate this. Senator Carson, I would love to try to testify on this. However, I’ve got two recordings that I’ve got scheduled, I think, just during your time. But if anybody wants to testify, let’s see, I think that I’ll work that out. I think that you can go to the bill, Senate Bill 138. I’ll have to work that out to try to help people with that. Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
People can testify online. They can testify online. It’s the committee. It’s Bill SB 25138. And the committee is the Senate State Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. And there’ll be a link in there where you can sign up to testify by Zoom. And you can also come in person, of course, right? That’d be probably about 11 o’clock, 1030, 1045, 11 o’clock this morning. A little unpredictable because it’s whenever we end the morning Senate session.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. Hey, thank you so much for watching out for the people of Colorado, Senator John Carson. And that’s Senate Bill 25138. And we will be watching on what’s going to happen with that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Great. Thanks, Kim. Have a great day, everybody.
SPEAKER 10 :
You too. That is just so exciting what’s happening down there. We’ve got some good things happening. There’s a lot of bad stuff down there, but this is really a good bill, Senate Bill 25-138. And the Colorado Union of Taxpayers is in favor of this and so, so creative. And that is to ultimately get rid of the income tax here in Colorado. You should not have to force people to do it. And can’t believe that March is right around the corner. And on March 15th, Paula Sarles, who is the president of the USMC Memorial Foundation, she’s also a Marine veteran and a Gold Star wife, will be doing the Celebrate the Climb Challenge, climbing 426 steps out at Red Rocks and honoring the Marines, Iwo Jima veterans turning 100 years old, and her birthday. And I thought, well, let’s get the PR person on the air to talk about what’s happening in Western North Carolina. Beth Moranville with Beth Connects. Welcome.
SPEAKER 13 :
Good morning. I’m just listening about the climbing red rocks and I’m exhausted already.
SPEAKER 10 :
Me too. And this is for her 76th birthday, if you can believe that, Beth Moranville. Last year for her 75th birthday, she jumped out of an airplane.
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh my gosh, that’s amazing. That is the kind of life that I want to live and keep going after it. That’s so wonderful. I’m so happy to hear that.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is. So Beth Moranville, we’ve seen what has happened while we had the disaster in Lahaina and Pacific Palisades and in California and in North Carolina. And you’re there and you’re working with a really great group. It’s Asheville Dream Center. And I know there’s so many people working to help the people there. of Western North Carolina. But what’s going on? Are people getting out of tents and starting to get back to some kind of normalcy or what’s going on?
SPEAKER 13 :
I am in shock and awe. It has been amazing since January 24th. Prior to that, there were so many people that were still struggling. And really, the people of Western North Carolina are very resilient, and they’re very much working. willing to say i don’t need help my neighbor needs help i’m sure somebody’s got it worse and many times there aren’t other people that have it worse as i have seen it but they have been so willing to share but when president trump came in on january 24th we began to see a marked difference Within days, literally what we had seen as devastation every single day since September 27th has begun to improve. It’s not perfect. There is still so much work to do. And as the Hurricane Relief Director for the Asheville Dream Center, that’s what I do daily is go out to see who needs help, how I can help them, where are volunteers that are going to come in and help us help them. But I have to tell you, Kim, I sent you the pictures that every day I look at them and I thank God that we are seeing healing happen to this area and and for the people as President Trump’s programs are happening. Like you and I had shown, I mean, I had sent you the pictures of these big, massive transfer truck-sized units that in half of it, will be some kind of big machinery, big construction machinery that will do the work that it’s assigned to do that day. And by the end of the day, you’ll see the back end of it completely full. We are seeing trees that have been over the roads and all over the place in the creek, everywhere within a day. They’re being cut down and cleaned up. It’s literally like things are in fast motion. I was laughing about it the other day at the amazingness of it. It’s literally like it’s in fast motion, like it’s automatons going so fast. It’s amazing. It’s wonderful. I’m so grateful.
SPEAKER 10 :
So these trucks, and I’m looking at pictures of them right now, is this FEMA or is this being paid for by the federal government? What’s that look like, Beth Moranville?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, I would say since FEMA did almost nothing for the people and for this area for up until January 24th, for sure, as I saw it, I would say that’s not FEMA. I would say that this is directly FEMA. the orders of President Trump to do what he said he was going to do. And he said, I’m coming for you. I’m going to take care of it, Swannanoa and Western North Carolina. So I would say that that’s what we’re seeing. I know that there are some programs that are being implemented by the North Carolina government. And also, I’m sure there’s something federal government in it that I’ve just seen this past week. But when I asked them where that money is coming from, who’s funding it, she didn’t know. So I’m a little weary and leery of government programs. And that’s me speaking on behalf of me and a lot of the people around here who have really suffered, really suffered over the past four months. that it never had to happen. If we would have had President Trump in office at that point, I cannot imagine how very different this area would look and how very different the people would look right now.
SPEAKER 10 :
So, Beth Moranville, you and I are both conservatives and are leery of government. And there are those that have said that we don’t want to look to government to solve this. This is a huge disaster. What’s your thoughts on this, on this? Personal resiliency versus government. And as I’m looking at one of these pictures that you sent, you said the couple on the far left has been living in a small metal shed since their trailer was destroyed in the hurricane. People, if everything’s destroyed, they don’t have their businesses. People don’t have jobs. So there has to be a blend, but it can’t become government dependency. So unpack that for me. What do you think about that?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, what I have seen over the past four months, and let’s see, I think today is the fifth month anniversary of this disaster. So I would say that these are especially the people who are living in the mountains who are the mountain people, not just people who have moved in, but who are the mountain people. They live in the hollers, and they talk about that is what they call where they live. And they are the most resilient people that I have ever seen. So when the government did not step up, they did step up. I was hearing yesterday of a story where there were locals that were out in some of the hardest hit areas and their subdivision, well, it’s not subdivisions, let me not say that, their driveways, everything that they had, their roads were blocked off, but there was a piece of equipment that was just sitting there on the property because I believe that there was, I’m not sure it was a government, I don’t think it was a government piece of equipment. Maybe it was a business piece of equipment that was supposed to be doing some work. So I’m sure it was private business. But they needed that piece of equipment to work. And with the resiliency of these people, two of them went out there and they put codes in until this John Deere piece of equipment actually cranked up. I think they put one, one, one, one, one, one, one, something really incredible. They went out and it started and they were able to clean off the road. And I’ve seen it over and over. And of course, we had groups come in. We have Samaritan’s Purse. I mean, their boots on the ground and we consider them local. And also the Cajun Navy. There were just private citizens that came together, as you’ve heard stories of that, and made things happen. Again, if we would have had to depend on the government, then it would never have gotten done. It would never have gotten done. But I will say with government, and I am a conservative and I’m happy and proud to say that, We have someone different in office now who is a true president and a true leader, and we’re seeing the benefits of that every single day. I’ve already seen them this morning, and I see them last thing at night. Their boots, their wheels are on the ground, and I cannot be more thankful for our local folks here who absolutely need their lives back. They have suffered enough.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and so a lot of this help is by clearing roads and getting people connected so that they can continue to move about and start to rebuild things. Is that right?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, we desperately need volunteers to come in because, and I can hook you up with that through the Asheville Dream Center. Of course, the American’s Purse is available. I can help with those places who are using, who have the 501c3s out boots on the ground doing the work. But we have a lot of needs now as some of a lot of the distribution centers are starting to close. And these distribution centers never expected when they went to sleep, the people went to sleep on September 26th, of, oh, we better get a good night’s sleep tonight. Tomorrow our life is going to change with our hurricane and tornadoes and floods. They never expected that. The private individuals and the small churches, as well as big churches, but especially the small ones, just put up signs, donations accepted. And as soon as anyone could start getting out, they began to bring things. I mean, so many things were closed and shut down. But as early on as possible, these distribution centers began to grow. And so there are people now, groups now, that they’ve got to go back to work. Like Silver Lotto’s has been one of the shining stars over the past five months. But it’s a private business, and they have to get back to work. And so as they are closing up, then there are people that still need help. That’s part of what I do. as I go out across the Western North Carolina area to see who are the places, where are the people who are still needing help so that I can connect from resource center to resource center to make sure that the people are going to get what they need. And it is, It’s amazing, and there’s a lot of feeling of, oh, no, are we going backwards because there’s not going to be the help as the distribution centers begin to close up. We desperately need fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fresh milk, fresh eggs, fresh cheese. There are places that have – kitchens and food pantries, they’re closed. They literally have on their doors, we don’t have food. We need paper products. Laundry detergent is really, really hard to get. And so those are things that I hear on a daily basis of people saying, we need diapers. We need bigger size diapers. We need formula. The health part of it is one of the things that are really beginning to concern people that they’re not going to be able to get those because everybody’s not back to normal. So we need help. I’m saying right now, we need help still.
SPEAKER 10 :
And the Asheville Dream Center is a spot. And then I’ve had Lee Brown on, who is a realtor in the area as well. And she’s also, and I don’t have her website there as well. But the Asheville Dream Center would be a great place to help. Beth Moranville, stay on the line. We’re going to come right back. We have these discussions because of our great sponsors. And for everything mortgages, reach out to Lauren Levy.

You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And my friends right here in Colorado organization, I’d recommend that you consider contributing to is the Center for American Values. I talk about them on a regular basis. They’re located in Pueblo. Pueblo is known as the home of heroes, but they do several things. They have their own values presentations. There’s going to be a great one coming up in March. their Medal of Honor Portraits Gallery, and then their Honor, Integrity, and Patriotism Civic Space K-12 Education Program. And they hope to reach 25,000 kids this year. Really great stuff. So check them out at AmericanValueCenter.com. Hold on here. I may have all these in my… mind here just a second. I can hold on here, Beth, because I want to get right back to you. I should have this totally memorized and I’m having a brain moment here. So I’ll get that in a second. Here we go. AmericanValueCenter.org. It’s .org. So make sure that you know that and you can make a contribution there. So Beth Moranville, Asheville Dream Center. What’s the best way for people to contribute to that?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, you can go to theashfieldreamcenter.org or ashfieldreamcenter.org. You can also reach out to me. My number is 770-843-2009, and I can connect you as well. I will tell you one of the things that I need because I am as much out over western North Carolina to help as many people as I can and to help individuals and then also the churches and the distribution centers. I need a volunteer to come and ride with me as I go out in these places. I have a vehicle right this minute that is stuffed to the gills with all kinds of products that and supplies that people need, and I’ll be taking those and dropping them off today. But the more help we have, the more work we can get done. Another thing that the Dream Center and some of the others are working on right now, Samaritan’s Purse, are rebuilds. That’s really important as we’re going forward is to help these people rebuild. And some of the houses are having to be destroyed because they are – filled with mold. And it’s very sad to see Kim. I heard of a family recently, I haven’t met them yet, but they had a home and a lot of the families here passed their homes down for generations. And one family, the grandfather or great-grandfather had built the house and they had passed it, passed it, passed it. Well, it was pretty much condemned after the hurricane, but people are still having to live in those places because they don’t have any place to go. We also need RVs. I have a police officer right now, as I’m thinking about it, who needs an RV for his family of six. But this particular family is went into their home, and all of the members of the family wrote memories on the walls, and the little children grew, and they just had family time there. And then the grandfather who had built the house actually bulldozed it while they were all there. So they were there for the beginning, and they were there for the end. So we do need help in the rebuild as people are going forward. And then there is so much poverty. I call what’s happening here with a lot of this rental property, our slumlords are running this. I heard of a guy day before yesterday. He’s 35 years old. He needs a job. He wants to work. He was living out in a trailer. And these are trailers, not to be confused with mobile homes. Many of them should have been condemned anyway. And these slumlords are renting these properties out. So this guy was paying $900 a month for rent. His trailer was destroyed. The guy he rents from said, oh, you can still live on the property in your tent, but you’ll still have to pay me $900 a month. He doesn’t even have a job, but he’s trying. So there are so many of those stories happening. Kim, that you just would not believe it. I hear it every day. One family, they have a nine-month-old, and the walls of their condemned trailer from the 1960s or 70s, the walls are bowed out in the baby’s room, and she stays sick all the time because of the mold. So it’s a real issue that these families are still having to live in these condemned places. So they don’t have a place to go. So we still need help. There’s a lot of work being done. Thank you, President Trump, for that. And I would love it if you could show that truck that I sent to you that I believe if President Trump was a truck, this is what he would look like. He’s a warrior, but we need more warriors to come alongside. He and his administration can’t do it all. We need help and we would love folks to come.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And Asheville Dream Center. And then, Beth, I had your phone number here. Again, that is 770-843-2009. Or email us, Beth, at BethConnect.com. We have just a couple of minutes left. What about the Biltmore, the famous Biltmore there? Was it pretty well destroyed? What’s happening with that?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, quickly, I want to give you this email address, BeachGirl257 at gmail.com. beachgirl257 at gmail.com. Here I am up in the mountains. The Biltmore sustained, and that area sustained a lot of damage. But you can imagine that as it is such a source of income for this area and for the property itself, they got in like, you know, ch-ch-ch-ch. quickly as they could. It’s not like the billboards presented of everything is perfect. It’s not like that, which I don’t like it that they have those billboards up. But it looks much, much better. The little town area, Biltmore Village, is just about destroyed. And it’s heartbreaking because my husband and I used to love going to those little restaurants over there. But it’s pretty much destroyed. They’re trying to Very hard to build back, but they’re going to have to destroy a lot of those buildings and start over. Even some of the big ones like the beautiful Grand Bohemian Hotel, I don’t know what they’re going to do with that. So it’s very interesting. And it’s very interesting, you know, the way that weather will do. I know that there were tornadoes in that. That’s never talked about, this weird hurricane. It did have tornadoes in it as well. And right down the street, there might be trees down, and then there would be a little flower shop. I literally saw this with the little plants and little pumpkins and, you know, daisies or whatever the flowers were out there perfect. It is such a bizarre thing that happened. But we’re healing. We are healing. But I just have to tell you, if you can come and help us, It would be amazing. AshevilleDreamCenter.org and tell them that Beth sent you because we’re all in this together. And as we’re seeing our folks now send so many things to the floods that just happened in West Virginia and Kentucky and those areas, we’re here to help others. as we have been helped, and we don’t take any of it for granted at all. Yesterday, we had two folks from Colorado here who have been volunteering as well. So our arms are open.
SPEAKER 10 :
OK, well, Beth Moranville, thank you so much. Thank you for all the great work that you do. And thank you for the Asheville Dream Center dot org. And just let them know that Beth sent you. And thanks, Beth. And our quote for the end of the show is from Thomas Paine. He said this. He said, these are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country. But he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. So, my friends, today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you. God bless America. Stay tuned for hour number two.

It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 10 :
I find that it takes work to get your brain around these ideas and it takes work to engage in these conversations.
SPEAKER 03 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 10 :
With what is happening down at the statehouse, I used to think that it was above my pay grade to read the legislation. And it’s not.
SPEAKER 10 :
indeed let’s have a conversation welcome to our number two of the kim monson show thank you so much for joining us you’re each treasured you’re valued you have purpose today strive for excellence take care of your heart your soul your mind and your body my friends we were made for this moment in history and thank you to the team that’s producer joe luke rachel zach echo charlie mike theresa amanda and all the people here at crawford broadcasting producer joe as we were talking with beth moranville from north carolina I think we take it for granted that we get to get up and go to work. And somebody has said there’s the blessings of the mundane. And I think that’s true, Joe, that the blessings of the just the everyday stuff, because when when we hear about these people in North Carolina and everything’s destroyed and they’re rebuilding. But but we have a lot to be grateful for, Joe.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re absolutely right, and it really stinks when you get a breakup in your routine that you usually have on a daily basis, and something big like that really, really does stink.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. And people will come together and to rebuild. And so anyway, there are the blessings of the mundane of just the everyday things that we do. And we need to remember that the show comes to you because of our sponsors. And I think many of you probably saw the headlines that Hooters National is filing for bankruptcy for restructuring of debt. And, of course, Hooters restaurants here with the five locations, Loveland, Aurora, Lone Tree, Westminster and Colorado Springs are great sponsors of the show and had exchanged texts with Brian, who is one of the franchisees. And he and Tom are real patriots, conservatives, businessmen giving people jobs. And he said that we think we may be able to make lemonade out of this lemon. And so stay tuned. But while you’re out and about, and I know that everybody’s getting squeezed right now, but I think… Better times are right around the corner for all of us. But if you want to have some great lunch special, get together with friends, check out Hooters restaurants. And their lunch specials are Monday through Friday and also great happy hour specials. And they are really good sponsors of the show. So be sure and give them some of your business. Our word of the day. is factious, and it is spelled F-A-C-T-I-O-U-S, and it could be given to or characterized by or promoting internal dissension or insubordinate. It could be different groups. I know that Washington, George Washington, was concerned about different factions evolving, and we now have different political parties involved. And the thing about different political parties is you have a general idea where people are going to stand on particular issues. Now, I know that many times we are concerned that there are Republicans that may be more of a faction of supporting bigger and bigger government, whereas the real Republican principle is to conserve and preserve power. the founding of our country, that all men are created equal with these rights from God of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. And then the factions of the Democrat Party now is it’s really been hijacked by extremists pushing government control over everything in our lives. And we really are seeing a lot of that playing out here in Colorado. with all of the legislation that is being proposed. As of this morning, 503 pieces of legislation or resolutions have been proposed in this legislature, most of them because the Democrats are in control. Most of them are antithetical to individual freedom, individual thriving and prospering. But there are some good ones out there, as we talked with – Senator John Carson regarding his bill, which is Senate Bill 138. And it is a good piece of legislation, and it is to reduce the income tax to ultimately get rid of the income tax here in Colorado. And so that is a good bill. The Colorado Union of Taxpayers is in favor of that bill that will be heard in committee today and if you can testify via zoom he said it’ll probably be after sometime after 11 o’clock be sure and check that out in that committee let me get that i think it is i think hold on here Here we go. It will be at the State Veterans and Military Affairs Committee on the Senate side. And so you go to that and you’ll be able to find their calendar and you’ll be able to sign up to make comments on that. So our word of the day is factious and it’s F-A-C-T-I-O-U-S and factious. We do see some real factious, I think, conversations, narratives out there right now regarding the Trump 2 agenda. And we need to continue to stay focused on where our country is and what needs to be done to reclaim the American idea. And I think that that’s what the Trump 2 is focused on. So our quote of the day is from Thomas Paine, and he was born in 1737. He died in 1809. He was an English-born American founding father, French revolutionary inventor, and political philosopher. He authored Common Sense in 1776 and The American Crisis, 1776 to 1783. They were two of the most influential pamphlets of the start of the American Revolution. And he wrote, And he helped to inspire the colonial era patriots in 1776 to declare independence from Great Britain. And he said this, I prefer peace, but if trouble must come, let it come in my time so that my children can live in peace. That’s one of the things about the founding fathers. They were always thinking about the next generations. And in some ways, we’ve lost that. And part of it is with this huge debt that we have taken on and running these deficits that are just not sustainable. And so I know that President Trump, Elon Musk with Doge, they are really mixing it up. But this is a third founding of our country, and we need to step forward into that and understand that things need to happen so that we can reclaim our amazing American idea. Several headlines. This just came across the, well, it used to be The Wire, but this is just, you’ll hear it here maybe first, Oscar-winning Gene Hackman and his wife and dog were found dead in their New Mexico home. And it says that foul play is not suspected, but there’s no additional details on that right now. But very, very well respected actor Gene Hackman has passed on. And so stay tuned on that. Sorry to hear that. A couple of headlines talked a little bit about this in the first hour, and that is that with the new Trump two policies down at the border is illegal crossings have plummeted, which is really huge for America. And so he is delivering on that. on his promise on that, and that is super important. And then also I had mentioned this piece of… Oh, it was called Endangered Findings. That is being very possibly rolled back. It was findings that was instituted during the Obama administration, and it was one of the things that then was used to push all of this… spinning a narrative regarding climate change. And be sure and check out our documentary at climateconversation.com. And you can watch that for free there and also check out our podcast series on that with scientists and experts really asking these questions about this whole narrative. And one of the foundations of that whole climate change narrative with Al Gore and all of them was this endangered findings in 2009 and so the epa is asking the white house to um basically i think roll that back get rid of that so this is super super huge that they’re going to be doing that and so stay tuned that’s pretty important and it’s reliable efficient affordable and abundant energy that powers our lives fuels our hopes and dreams and empowers us to change our personal climates And I thank Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of the show. And I also thank the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance team for their sponsorship of the show as well. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And pleased to have on the line with me, John Eastman. He was an attorney for President Trump. And we’ve seen a whole lot of lawfare that has gone after him. And there is a new film that has been released in early January called The Eastman Dilemma, Lawfare or Justice. And we talked with him shortly after the release. And we wanted to get an update and also find out what he thinks about justice. Trump’s administration now. So, John Eastman, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thanks for having me back on. It’s always a pleasure to be on your program. And hello, Colorado.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, great to have you as well. And John, you and Elizabeth, your wife, have had such great attitudes and optimism about all the stuff that’s come at you. And for people that don’t know, just describe what had happened ever since January 6th. Well, really, January 4th, when you were in the Oval Office with President Trump and Vice President Pence and I think Pence’s attorney and chief of staff. So take us through this with what happened exactly.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, you know, we all saw the illegality in the election in 2020 and President Trump and all the courts were refusing to look at it. And the claim that the left puts out there that Trump lost 65 cases because there was no evidence is just false. They were not looking at the evidence. They were not looking at the illegality. They were dismissing on grounds, highly technical grounds, sometimes correctly, but most often not correctly. So the president hired me late November, early December to try and get these matters heard in the courts and also to look at other constitutional paths. to have the illegality investigated to decide whether it was affecting the outcome of the election. That culminated with a meeting in the White House, as you point out, with Vice President Pence on January 4th. And following that meeting, he issued a letter saying he didn’t believe he had any authority to do anything. He was just an expensive potted plant, a letter opener. you know, that’s not consistent with the history of the authority assigned to him by the Constitution. But in any event, subsequently to that, somebody leaked to the Washington Post an internal brainstorming memo I had written, laying out various strategies on how we could get this stuff addressed. And that became, in Liz Cheney’s mind, the smoking gun, the You know, so they made me the national bad boy about trying to address the illegality in the election, which, of course, is the constitutionally protected right. It’s called the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. But I was an unindicted co-conspirator, and Jack Smith now dismissed criminal case against President Trump in D.C. I was indicted in Georgia and in Arizona, and those two criminal prosecutions still proceed today. Even though Fannie Willis has been disqualified in Georgia, she’s still filing pleadings in the case. It’s really stunning. And over in Arizona, a state that I had no involvement with any of the election challenges, I’m indicted. And the attorney general there, again, a hyper-partisan attorney general, hired States United Democracy Center, this rabid anti-Trump group that filed the bar complaint against me in California. She hired them to do the prosecution memo. Develop the prosecution strategy. That’s like hiring a fox to do the safety memo for your chicken coop. It’s insane. And yet that continues. We had a big win a couple of weeks ago, first phase of a motion to dismiss for violating our First Amendment rights. The judge said, yeah, you’ve met your burden there. And the state now has to prove that they did not do this in order to retaliate against our First Amendment exercise. I also went through, and I’m still going through, the longest and most expensive bar disciplinary proceeding in history out in California. We’ve got finally a year after the original recommendation for disbarment was made by this, again, hyper-partisan trial judge in the bar court. A year later, we finally have our hearing in the Court of Appeals, and hopefully that will get reversed, that recommendation. But this is what we’ve been dealing with for the last four years, and it’s all captured in that movie, the documentary Eastman Dilemma, Lawfare or Justice. And people can watch it. It’s still available for free streaming now until it goes up on the paid platforms, and that’s at eastmandilemma.com.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, EastmanDilemma.com, so if they want to watch it for free, they have that opportunity for just a little bit. Regarding having it in movie theaters, that’s still a possibility, yes?
SPEAKER 09 :
I think so, yes. And there’s also some people are looking at doing private screenings at rent-a-theaters. But we’ve been doing a lot of private screenings around the country. We did Chicago and Milwaukee last week, and then it ran continuously in the convention center at the CPAC conference in Washington, D.C., We’re up in New York next week. We’re doing one out at the America First Warehouse in Long Island. And then we’re doing one in Midtown Manhattan. And then over in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Thursday next week at the big tea party gathering there.
SPEAKER 10 :
Boy, this is so important, and I’ve watched it. It’s really, it is very interesting. And I saw you last year, you and Elizabeth, at a conference, and you were so positive because you basically went to our founders and you said something along the line, well, Kim, they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, and I can do no other, is kind of what I remember you said to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, no, that’s right. A couple of years ago, the L.A. Times wanted to do a human interest story about how devastated I was and how I regret representing President Trump. And I said, what are you talking about? Our country was on the precipice of losing the freedoms we’ve inherited. And for whatever reason, I’ve been cast into a leading role on the front lines of this battle to preserve our liberty, to preserve our freedom, to keep a check on tyrannical governments. And I said, you know, I’ve got the expertise. I’ve got the tenacity. I can’t imagine a place more important for me to be to make sure that what we hand off to our kids and grandkids is equally free and full of liberty and prosperity that we inherited. So, yeah, I mean, I certainly regret having to spend all the time defending myself against these things, but I don’t regret being engaged in the fight at all. This is this is the important fight for our time, in my view.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and John Eastman, you just mentioned something that I think is so important is the founders were focused on the future, on what they were passing on to the next generation. And they put their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor on the line. And as they were signing the Declaration of Independence, they could hear the British cannons just right down the river saying, And so those people that try to denigrate the founders and say, oh, it was a whole bunch of old rich white guys that were trying to preserve slavery. That was not the case whatsoever. They knew that as they were signing that declaration, that they were signing a potential death warrant or it was a death warrant on each of them. And that’s one of the reasons why that the the original declaration was not signed.
SPEAKER 09 :
released with all of their signatures initially was because it was a death warrant well it was an act of treason because and this is going to tie to one of the controversies currently swirling around because of president trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship when they signed that declaration of independence the last paragraph says we um are free and independent states, and we hereby absolve all allegiance to the king. Now, the birthright citizenship issue in English common law, if you were born in the king’s soil, you were the king’s subject and forever the king’s subject. It was not something you could ever renounce. And by signing that document, they renounced their allegiance to the king and repudiated birthright citizenship, by the way, in the process. And that was an act of treason against the king. If they had not prevailed in that revolutionary war, they probably all would have been hung. But it’s also why the Declaration of Independence makes an appeal to a higher law. The law of nature and nature’s God sets at the beginning, and they make their case to the candid world that this is the just thing to do, even though under the English positive law we’re committing an act of treason. Under God’s law, under the higher law, we are doing what is just in order to vindicate human rights.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and they felt this calling to the higher law, the natural law. So let’s just talk a little bit about this birthright citizenship and what Trump is doing. So we’ve had people that have come here illegally and had babies. They’re called anchor babies. And then because they are – and I have this in air quotes – citizens of the United States and the parents – have wanted to say as well. But you mentioned the word allegiance, and my understanding is that the word allegiance is what is important. So if someone is here illegally, they do not have an allegiance to the United States because they’re here legally, and they’re not adhering to the laws of the United States. So hence, because their allegiance is to a different country, then that should negate birthright citizenship. Is that close to…
SPEAKER 09 :
And the language of the 14th Amendment, if you understand it as they intended it, it makes that very clear. Recently, the Hawaii Senator Hirono posted on her Twitter page that the Constitution is clear. All persons born in the United States, dot, dot, dot, are citizens. But, of course, that’s not what the 14th Amendment says. It says all persons born in the United States and subject to its jurisdiction are our citizens now modernly a lot of people think that means if you’re subject to our laws you’re then you’re a citizen and everybody that’s within our borders except for diplomats are subject to our laws and so hence you get this idea of universal citizenship but that’s not what they meant by that what they when they they called that territorial or partial jurisdiction not the complete jurisdiction that the Constitution requires. The complete jurisdiction means you owe allegiance to the United States directly and immediately and not to any foreign power. That’s actually how the 1866 Civil Rights Act provided it, all persons born and not subject to any foreign power. They made the change because Native Americans were subject to the tribes, which were a domestic tribe. separate power, not a foreign power. So they made the change in the language to address that. But that’s all. So anybody that’s born here who is not within the complete allegiance, the complete jurisdiction in the United States, owing allegiance to them and no one else, they’d be citizens, but everybody else not citizens. That would include not just illegal immigrants who are not here with our permission at all, but people who are here only temporarily on a work or student visa, for example. That temporary status makes them subject to our laws while are here, subject to our partial jurisdiction, but not subject to our more complete jurisdiction where they owe allegiance and have renounced any allegiance to their foreign home country. So that’s the critical distinction. And President Trump’s executive order. That hits a nail on the head on this understanding. And, you know, people say, well, we’ve had this birthright citizenship ever since our founding. And I point out the last paragraph of the Declaration of Independence. We repudiated, repudiated that permanent allegiance to the king. We disavowed it. And we then took up by our mutual consent a new political community. And we can offer citizenship to others to join in that political community if we want. And they can accept such an offer if they want. But without that mutual consent, you do not become part of the political community. It’s very straightforward.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, that is so interesting. And it’s so interesting that Trump would bite this off. So we’re going to continue the discussion with John Eastman. You can watch his movie at EastmanDilemma.com. And these really are important conversations. And Lavaca Meat Company is located at the corner of Maine and Nevada. And really, it is a treat. It’s a premium product. And so pledge pledge for each of those steps to help raise money for the remodel of the Marine Memorial. And you can do that by going to USMC Memorial Foundation dot org. We have John Eastman on the line, and he is the star of the movie, if you will, of EastmanDilemma.com. You can watch it for free. John, what’s the exact title of the film? I don’t have it right here in front of me. I have too many things open.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, The Eastman Dilemma, Lawfare or Justice.
SPEAKER 10 :
and can watch it at EastmanDilemma.com. So first thing, this came in on the text line. It says, allegiance. We see many of these people that have been saying they want to stay in America, but they’re waving Mexican flags. That would indicate that their allegiance is to Mexico. What’s your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, that’s exactly right. And it’s one of the reasons why the control over immigration is, is given to congress because how much naturalization how much conferring of citizenship you allow is not a legal question it’s a policy question how many people can you allow in from any particular region any particular country with all without altering the fundamental nature of our own country without exceeding the capacity to assimilate people into our country into our political community And that’s why Article 1 of the Constitution gives Congress the power over naturalization. What’s happened with this misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment, if they’ve ratcheted up automatic citizenship so far, they’ve really cut significantly into Congress’s policy of judgment under its naturalization power. And you see whole communities now, whether in Detroit with people from Muslim nations that continue to act as though they’re just here as an infiltrating force from their foreign countries. That’s never what our Constitution intended. Our Constitution is not a suicide pact, as one Supreme Court justice famously said. And these policy judgments are now being deprived to the Congress because of this misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment.
SPEAKER 10 :
Again, this is so important, and Trump is understanding this. Another question coming in was you mentioned that your internal memo was leaked. Did you ever find out who that leaker was?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I’ve got a pretty good idea. I don’t want to say it in case I’m wrong and get sued for defamation, but I’ve got a pretty good idea. There were only a couple people that had it. And so it was in one of the congressional offices that I had shared this with. Somebody in their office was a snake and disclosed it to Bob Woodward at the Washington Post.
SPEAKER 10 :
Wow. Okay. Next thing, you mentioned the 2020 election. And John, as I’ve looked at things here in Colorado, I’d mentioned you’ve got the lawsuit here, or you’re working with the lawsuit here in Colorado regarding the open primaries. And I guess first, give us an update on that.
SPEAKER 09 :
So we kicked things down the road a little bit to see what would happen with the ranked choice voting initiative, because if that had passed, that would have mooted our lawsuit. So once that failed, we were back in full gear. We conducted discovery over the last several months, and now we’re teeing up motions for summary judgment, which will be due sometime next month. And if neither of those succeed, we’ll go on to a trial sometime in the fall, hopefully have this resolved in time for the 2026 elections. But the basic premise of the lawsuit is forcing a political party, which is a private association, to have others participate in their selection of their candidates. violates the First Amendment’s freedom of association, freedom of speech as well. And the Supreme Court so held 25 years ago in a case called California Democrat Party versus Jones. But that was a complete open primary. People could cross over from the other party and vote. Colorado’s is a semi-open primary. Republicans can’t cross over and vote for Democrats or vice versa, but independents can. can vote in either party they wish. And they’re trying to claim that that’s enough of a difference from the prior case to make it constitutional. I don’t believe it does. And hopefully the court will agree with me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And a guy that’s been playing in all of this is Kent Theory, who had been the CEO of DaVita Dialysis. And he had put a ton of money into that national popular vote question that was on the ballot this last election cycle. My voter’s guide, we made the case to no, to not approve that. But there was a total of $15 million at least that came in in support of that national popular vote, and it was just grassroots voices like myself and I think Coloradans realizing as they looked at it that this is complicated and would really change our elections. And amazingly, it was defeated here in Colorado. That was a big deal, John Eastman.
SPEAKER 09 :
It was, and I like to point out that the likelihood – If the national popular vote actually had enough states that had signed up to make it effective, You know, the California and New York and Colorado’s electoral votes would have gone for President Trump this year because he won the national popular vote. And so you would have had Coloradans who voted for Biden having to cast their electoral votes for Trump. I’m sure that would have sat well with them. But it’s an end run around the Constitution, and I think it will be found to be unconstitutional if it ever gets enough states signing up to make it pass. But look, the problem is I can’t. Well, go ahead.
SPEAKER 10 :
Go ahead. And then I need to make a correction. I’m getting mixed up on my different issues that he’s supporting. So the 15 million went for the ranked choice voting. And I needed to make that clarification.
SPEAKER 09 :
So I’ll go back and tie it together because he was heavily involved in in Proposition 108, which was the open primary proposition. He and his friends at the Chamber of Commerce and looks at what’s really going on here. It’s the uniparty, a moderate ring of the Republican Party joining with Democrat parties to block out principled conservatives. That’s what’s going on. And you see with President Trump’s election that the populist conservative wing of America has resoundingly won. And these folks are continuing to try and act as if nothing has changed. that the unit party is still in control. And you see executive branch officials refusing to comply with President Trump’s executive orders. And you see judges issuing injunctions against those executive orders that describe how his branch of government, the executive branch, is going to be run. And they’re digging in. They’re well entrenched. They’ve got civil service protections and otherwise. And, you know, they’re not going quietly into the night to respect the will of the American people from the last election. But this is what we’ve been saying all along. We’ve created a government that thinks that we all work for it rather than the other way around. And that they’re the experts, and if we don’t get on board with what their idiocy is, then we are undermining our democracy, even though we’re the people who are directing the direction of government. So everything’s gotten turned upside down, and President Trump is trying to set the apple cart back in the right direction, and he’s doing a magnificent job in my view.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, it is. And John Eastman, I really have said that I think that we’re in the third founding of our country. We’re in this ideological battle. I feel like we’re on the beaches of Normandy in this battle. And we’ve got a toehold here. But we as individuals need to step forward and engage. We’re seeing, I think, the doubling down on this uniparty agenda, doubling down at the state, the county, and the local levels. And so that’s why we need to be engaged. And you mentioned the uniparty. So Kent Ferry has put millions of dollars into messing with our Colorado elections, as you mentioned, with the open primary elections. The 15 million regarding the ranked choice voting and an influential Republican consultant. And that’s Josh Penry is is theory is his client. And Penry’s been very involved in Republican politics for quite some time. My understanding, he’s moved to Arizona. However, they still have their offices here. And I think it’s important that people understand that particular connection, John Eastman.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, yeah, I don’t know that person, but this pattern replicates itself all over the country. This consultant class… You know, I’ll take one of the hot button issues, abortion in the consultant class tells conservative candidates, don’t talk about it, you’ll lose. And that, of course, leaves the playing field open for the other side to define the issue. And then they win. But when our candidates do talk about the issue and in terms about what’s at stake, Our side wins. And so this consulting class is skewing things by – and they’re making a lot of money, and they make a lot of money whether they win or lose. And it’s almost as if they lose, then they charge more the next time around. It’s quite a gig, I suppose, if you can get it. But they are there to advance a particular understanding of government that is not compatible with our constitutional system of government. And they would be just happy if the people didn’t have a say at all. I mean, you look at what happened on the Democrat side of the political aisle this last time. Kamala Harris becomes the nominee of the party through the machinations of the party leaders and the consultants without a single vote in the primary going her direction. And when she had tried to run in the primary four years earlier, she got hounded out of the race with less than 1% support before the first primary even hit. This is their model. We can select who we want without any input from the American people because the American people really don’t know what they’re doing. And we’ve got to do it for them. This is the mentality of the progressive deep state. And it played out in the last election. And the American people finally said, we’ve had enough. That’s not who we are. We’re going to take control back of the direction of our country. And we’re going to make this deep state accountable to us again. And boy, it’s just so much fun watching what, what, President Trump and Elon Musk and the others are doing. Kash Patel coming in to head the FBI. It’s like the knight in shining armor riding in on the white horse to fix some of the problems that we’ve been witnessing.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is remarkable. Now, John Eastman, we had scheduled for just two segments. Is it a chance that your schedule would allow that you could stay with us for the last segment of the show? Or do you have to get off to the races?
SPEAKER 09 :
Sure, I’ll do that. Yep.

Welcome back to the Kim Monson Show. Be sure and check out our website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You can email me at Kim at KimMonson.com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. On the line with me is John Eastman, and you can watch the documentary regarding his story at eastmandilemma.com. And you can watch that for free right now. And, John Eastman, we were talking about elections. And elections are foundational to a representative republic. And Colorado has a lot of questions regarding elections. You mentioned Joe Biden earlier. In 2020, it defies common sense that he was able to get about 81 million votes. And then Kamala Harris, there was over 6 million votes that disappeared. So it just seems very suspect. But here in Colorado, we have Tina Peters, Mesa County Clerk. and recorder who I really feel she was convicted of process crimes. And then into her sentencing, they didn’t only throw the book at her, they threw the encyclopedia at her and gave her nine years. She’s at the Larimer County Jail at this particular point in time, and there will be a march for her in support of her this Saturday, March 1st, 11 to 2 in Fort Collins at the corner of Timberline and Prospect. What’s your thoughts about this whole Tina Peters issue?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I watched that sentencing hearing, and I thought it was one of the most outrageous exercises hubris by a judge I’d ever seen. And his lecturing her when what she was ultimately trying to do was comply with federal law. Federal law required that election records not be destroyed for 22 months after the election. And the update that was being done was going to destroy election records, and that would have made her liable for a violation of that federal law. And I don’t know all the details about how she tried to preserve that record. I do know that she made a mirror image copy of the record so that they would be preserved. and then had that subjected to forensic analysis where information was found in the code that votes were switched or packets deleted and the new ones uploaded. That’s extraordinary. That’s whistleblowing activity, and it should be fully protected. And because it’s a federal issue, I think the federal government will have some basis for investigating what has happened to her. And I mentioned Kash Patel earlier. This, I think, is part of his portfolio of things to look at now. And hopefully he’ll get to the bottom of what happened to Tina Peters, because it’s just egregiously wrong what she is suffering for trying to comply with that federal law. And the people that did this were, in my view. simply trying to hide the analysis that her team was able to conduct after she obtained a mirror image of that data. And, you know, Americans ought to be shouting from the rooftops that this is the kind of analysis we need. If we’re going to continue to use machines, we need to know what’s happening in them and not just accept that there’s a black box of our voting system. And it’s why a lot of counties around the country are going back to paper ballots where there’s an auditable trail. Because you’re right, and you said it earlier. Elections are critical. And why is it? It goes right back to the Declaration of Independence. Our government is based on consent of the governed. None of us was here in 1776 when that was signed or 1787 when the Constitution was drafted. We give our consent, ongoing consent, every time we have an election. And if the elections are not free and fair, if one side is not playing by the rules or is cheating, and you end up with people in office that do not reflect the will of the people, the consent of the governed, then you no longer have a free government. You have a tyranny. And people like Christina Peters standing up to fight against that by exposing what was going on should be getting medals, not prison sentences. And I hope Kash Patel and Dan Bongino will take that case up as one of the things they look at to try and figure out what went on and what a grievous violation of that federal law was at issue underlying her conduct.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and Colorado, I think, is at the tip of the spear, John Eastman, on much of the stuff that is going on. And there’s the lawsuit regarding the open primaries. But then this last year, Coloradans stepped forward and we raised money for two lawsuits. one with Wisconsin Center for Election Justice. And I just got an email on Monday that the legal back and forth, the Secretary of State wanted Wisconsin Center for Election Justice, Peter Berneger, to run the comparison list again because we had presented a list of places or voters where ballots should not be sent out. And that list was just… run again and it says in short 14 507 voted who should have not gotten a ballot and uh so that is um that lawsuit is going to continue forward as well and i’m really grateful for everybody that stepped forward to raise the money for that john eastman
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, you know, and there’s, you know, I mean, our voter rolls are terribly dirty. And by design, it’s easy to clean voter rolls. If you fight against cleaning voter rolls, it’s usually because you have in mind being able to tap into people who are dead or have long moved out of the jurisdiction and use those names and registrations to cast votes. if you need them to get over the hurdle. They’ve got a warehouse of blank ballots up in Detroit, Michigan, that they call the Chicago warehouse. I mean, that’s just a brazen claim that, you know, if we need to, we’re going to steal the election, because what’s the most notoriously bad election integrity city in the country but Chicago? I mentioned in the movie a friend of mine had left in his will that he wanted to be buried in Chicago. And so I asked him why. He said, well, I’ve been active in politics all my life. I want to stay active. You know, this this this kind of stuff needs to stop. And I think the SAVE Act coming out of Congress is. which will require voter ID to vote, that seems rather sensible. You know, you need voter IDs. I used to say to go rent a movie from Blockbuster. We don’t have those anymore. But, you know, voter ID is a common thing. Everybody has an ID, their driver’s license or a state issued ID one way or another. There’s no vote suppression here. You show your ID and get the ballot that proves that you’re the person who deserves to get the ballot and vote it. It’s very simple. And I think we need to go back to same day voting and, you know, instead of months long voting where people can vote. engage in all sorts of machinations to try and affect the outcome of the election illegally. Same day voting. You show up in person, you vote. If you’re disabled and can’t make it, we’ll make an exception for that. If you’re in the military and are assigned overseas, we’ll make an exception for that. But beyond that, for heaven’s sake, citizens, this is a duty of yours as a citizen. Take it seriously and And, you know, and and and and go vote on the day that you that’s designated to vote. If you’re not if you’re not concerned about that enough to go vote, then you really ought not to have a say in how the country is governed. So, you know, I hope these these changes get put in place so that we don’t continue to have these problems with our elections in future elections.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and two minutes left, John Eastman. Trump, too. You’d alluded that you’ve enjoyed watching what’s going on. It’s really been shocking, although I think that the opposition is getting organized. A couple of minutes. What’s your thoughts on all that?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, it was shock and awe, and it continues to be. I mean, there are new things coming out every day. And, you know, they had four years to put in place the legal analysis, the teams, the strategies to deal with all of this stuff. And, you know, like the judges ordered yesterday that President Trump had to spend another $30 billion in foreign aid by midnight last night. It’s preposterous, a single judge directing executive branch actions. But they had Sarah Harris, the new acting Solicitor General of the United States, nominated to get the permanent position there. They had a fabulous emergency motion ready to go to the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court issued a stay late last night saying, no, you don’t have to do that until we hear this case fully. A single district judge doesn’t have the authority to make policy judgments about our foreign policy. The Constitution vests that authority in the president. So I’m confident they’re going to win most of these litigations. But this is manifestly an effort to thwart the president in conducting and giving effect to the mandate that he received from the American people. So these litigations by the left-wing groups are ultimately a threat to democracy, to borrow their favorite phrase. They refuse to acknowledge that the American people said enough is enough. This is the direction we’re going to go. And they’re trying to thwart it. It’s about as undemocratic as you can get. And yet the media, the statist media is trying to cover for it. And that’s not working either because President Trump and his team are are using X, using truth social. They’re going directly to the American people. And we’re not getting our information filtered through these liars in the media.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is remarkable. And John Eastman, thank you to you and Elizabeth for being the patriots that you are. And coming in on the text line, people are praying for you every day. You are on my prayer list every day. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thank you very much. And if they want, they can go to GiveSendGo.com slash Eastman. Send us some money to help us continue to fight these legal battles so they remain ongoing.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I have done that, and I’ll need to do that again. Thank you, John Eastman.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right. Take care, Kim.
SPEAKER 10 :
And Thomas Paine said this, these are the times that try men’s souls, the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country, but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
