And our featured guests in this hour number one, we’re going to talk about a type of force that we don’t talk about that much, and that is licensing. And there is a bill down at the statehouse. It does have bipartisan support. So I need to have some conversations on that. And licensing is a form of force. And my friends, it’s never compassionate to take other people’s stuff. And we could insert the word take. or steal with the word take so it’s never compassionate to steal other people’s stuff whether or not it’s their rights their property freedom livelihoods opportunities our children their childhoods are being stolen and lives and lives enforced can be obviously a weapon but it could be policy unpredictable in excess of taxation fear coercion government-induced inflation the agenda by the world economic forum and the globalist elites played out through the United Nations, this legislature, this governor here in Colorado, land use codes, zoning regulations, force fees, conservation easements, National Monument designations, and I’m going to add in licensing. Now, Joe, we need to be reducing this list, but that’s another thing that we’ll add on there. And remember, if something’s a good idea, you shouldn’t have to use force to implement it. And we focus on the issues. We’ll mention the people that are pushing the issues, but we’re trying to stay out of all this personality fighting that can happen out there. Now, I’ve had some of you say, hey, sometimes, depending on the weather, I can’t get KLZ on my AM dial. And we do have a great reach, but weather and different things can affect that. So there’s all kinds of different options for that. Our word of the day is germane. It’s spelled G-E-R-M-A-N-E. And the definition is being at once relevant and appropriate. And I’m going to, I think with Ramey Johnson, who will be calling in as our CUT board member to give us our weekly update, Colorado Union of Taxpayers. I think that there’s some things that were said down at the Statehouse on Sunday calling Republicans’ names that are germane to the discussion. And so we’ll talk a little bit about that. And again, germane, G-E-R-M-A-N-E. Your challenge is to use that in a sentence today. And a good friend of mine, Wyatt, had given me this particular quote by Robert Anson Heinlein. He was born in 1907. He died in 1988. He was an American science fiction author, aeronautical engineer, and naval officer. Sometimes called the dean of science fiction writers, he was among the first to emphasize scientific accuracy in his fiction and was thus a pioneer in the subgenre of hard science fiction. His published works, both fiction and nonfiction, express admiration for competence and emphasize the value of critical thinking. His plots often pose provocative situations which challenge conventional social mores. His work continues to have an influence on the science fiction genre and on modern culture more generally. And he said this. He said, I am free no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them. If I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. That is pretty powerful. And again, that’s Robert Heinlein. And so… Yeah, so thank you, Wyatt, for that particular quote of the day. Next thing I wanted to mention, and I’m getting caught up. I was up rather late last night working on getting caught up on a variety of things. And so first of all, thank you to all of you who have contributed to the two lawsuits that we have regarding our elections here in Colorado. These are very important. And I think that they will bode very well as the Trump administration makes some different moves regarding our elections. And elections are the first place that we have to make sure that are honest and transparent. And in Colorado, our two lawsuits are one through the United Sovereign Americans legal team that we have proof that Colorado elections are not meeting the minimum standards as set forth by Congress. And that is a civil rights issue. And that is what that first lawsuit is. So thank you to all of you. That is in place. And just stay tuned. I did not realize all this legal stuff takes a lot more time than anticipated. But it’s important to be in the game. The second lawsuit is through Peter Berninger with Wisconsin Center for Election Justice. And that is that our voter rolls are not clean. And he ran the data on the voter rolls, a very targeted list of voters as of Election Day. He had actually run it two other times, but the Secretary of State had come back and said, oh, the data is old. So we decided to do it again. And on Election Day, we can prove 14,500 people that should not have received ballots voted. And so just to extrapolate that out to what’s going on in Colorado. So those two lawsuits are in place. Our Reclaim Colorado 2025-2026 project, I will be really starting to roll that out after Lent is over, which is in a couple of weeks. But this has come to my attention, and I know Holly Kaysen very, very well. And she’s one of the co-founders of the US EIP, which is the U.S. Election Integrity Plans. And what they did is after the 2020 election, they went into some different neighborhoods and basically canvassed, knocked on doors and said, hey, this says so-and-so lives here, so-and-so voted, does so-and-so live here. And they actually have a report, which you should be able to find at USEIP. Let me get that website for you. And as they were preparing to release that information, which is very informative, the, let’s see, the League of Women Voters, the NAACP, and Me Familia Vota decided to file a suit against them saying that they were intimidating people. And so they go through the whole thing, two years, lawsuit. They win that lawsuit, and they had been recommended by some of their attorneys to actually settle, which they did not. They went through the complete duration, and they won that case. Of course, we know that attorneys are expensive. Their legal fees ran around a half million dollars. They thought they were awarded legal fees, but there is a Supreme Court case called christianberg it’s a christianberg standard and it comes from a 1978 supreme court ruling and it bars defendants like holly and her ash ep and sean smith from recovering fees unless a case is deemed frivolous which is a very high bar that protects ngos even when they lose with reckless or bad faith lawsuits As Holly explained to us a few last week, she said, Christianberg rests on the assumption that NGOs are bringing lawsuits in good faith. And abuse of this equity-based assumption is rare, but Christianberg was established in a different era. It doesn’t hold in 2025 when NGOs are using litigation as a weapon. So they are appealing the denial of their fees ruling. which will challenge Christianberg, which very possibly may make it to the Supreme Court. And if they win, this will be another knock at the knees on these NGOs that are out of control. And these NGOs have been abusing this Christianburg for decades. And this is a unique situation because you can’t just file a lawsuit against Christianburg. You have to have some damages. And so Holly and Ash and Sean do. And so we are raising money for this appeal. And many of you have already texted me with your contribution pledge. And you can text me at 720-605-0647. And my friends, this is very, very important. So again, text me at 720-605-0647 because this is a really big deal. Colorado, it’s so interesting. We really are at the tip of the spear. Yesterday I mentioned this Judge Boasberg, who has ruled that, and I think the Supreme Court is looking at this, but he’s ruled that, hey, no, no, no, we need to bring back those violent gang members that were in our country illegally, and Donald Trump and company exported them, and he says we need to bring them back. Well, his brother was superintendent of Denver Public Schools, So everything seems to lead back to Colorado. That’s why when I say we’re made for this moment, we truly are made for this moment. And I tell you, Ramey, you and the team really picked up the slack for me this last week because I was traveling and I normally need my computer to do all the stuff that we do with Colorado Union of Taxpayers. So I thank you and our whole team for stepping up and filling in on all that that needed to be done, Ramey.

You know, I wished I could take more credit, but we’ve got some folks on that cut board that are just dynamite. Sometimes they leave me at the desk.

Well, they are. And I want to say thank you to all of them. And that is Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Corey Onizorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. It was a busy week. uh… rainy johnson and i think you have a unique perspective because you are a former state legislator uh… and that twenty twenty five twenty twenty six long approach appropriations bill was introduced which is also known as the budget senate bill twenty five two oh six And it’s pretty darn complicated. There’s a whole bunch of what are called orbital bills, which tweak spending. I know Mary Jansen has been concerned how they’re taking our Tabor refunds. Corey Onizorg, he used some AI to go through and make some analysis because it is daunting as we look at this appropriations bill. Rami Johnson.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, it is, Kim. And it takes months actually to put that document together. The Joint Budget Committee is really involved in that and so is the leadership for both the Senate and the House. I can guarantee you that legislators are not actually reading that bill. It is like how many hundred pages or so very detailed. And basically, particularly as a new legislator, you really kind of take guidance from leadership in your caucus, and they will kind of help you with what’s important in that bill. But I can also guarantee you that there will be many amendments, and those that are run by any Republicans are probably dead on arrival to begin with. Unfortunately, that’s the reality of the situation that we’re doing it with now right in our state legislature. It’s more than egregious, Kim.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, it really is. And so it’s scheduled for House Floor Work tomorrow, Thursday, April 10th. And I think you bring up a really important point. And this segues also over into this House Resolution. that is um and we have democrats that want to sue to get rid of tabor our colorado’s taxpayers bill of rights and i’ve heard this they’ve been rattling the sabers on this for a while saying that this is not a part of a republican form of government uh and in the u.s constitution we are are guaranteed a republican form of government but and also in the constitution here in Colorado, it says that we the people can also review bills. We can bring things forward through the initiative process. And if a bill doesn’t have a safety clause, we can actually vote on that bill as well. Now it’s a pretty high bar to get that onto the ballot. But after all these years, these Democrats want to sue to make sure that they can tax us with abandon, or without abandon, I should say, tax us without abandon, incur debt without abandon, and keep all of the excess revenue that they collect from us, we, the people. And then they are going to hire consultants, just like they did out in Jeffco, where you live, in Arapahoe County, hire consultants to convince you to give all this up. forever. It’s crazy.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, it is. And Tabor was put in by the people because they’re concerned over the way that the state legislature was operating with our money, the taxpayer money. There was something that happened Sunday in the legislature, which I’ve never heard of them meeting on a Sunday at 9 o’clock. They basically restricted the voices or the amount of time for the Republicans to speak that day. Now, we’ve got 19 districts that have a Republican representative. If you really believe in a Republican form of government, Kim, what it means is that people are elected democratically. All of us get one vote to elect somebody to carry our vote to the state legislature. What happened Sunday is a violation of that. We’ve got 19 districts that have Republicans. They basically now have no voice and no face. That is almost what is about a third of our state is not being heard down at the state legislature. They do not have the ability to represent us. And so this is kind of a silly play on words when they say they believe on representative form of government. They are doing away with our voices. And what happened down there where they are actually taking away the voice of the people in the districts and not allowing for our representatives to speak out, it seems to me that a wise attorney could look at that and say, you know, there’s a lawsuit here. that these people need to understand that they need to allow debate on both sides, not just theirs.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, that’s a really important point, Rami Johnson. And one other thing regarding representative government, there is no way that these representatives have had time to read all of these bills that have been presented and voted on and gone to the governor’s desk for years. His signature, that’s also, I think, egregious. That is not a representative form of government when you have people in elected office that are passing legislation into law that they haven’t even read. There’s no way that’s a representative form of government either, Ramey.
SPEAKER 04 :
I absolutely agree, Kim. They don’t have the time to read some of this long nonsense that is being introduced. We currently have a state legislature that is out of control. They are on a power grab. They are on a control grab of complete control of the people, their money. Elections have consequences, Kim. And this state, unfortunately, is an island in the middle of the West. It shows what can happen when people want all the control over other people and are on a power grab.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, Rami, this just doesn’t make sense to me. That’s why I’m doing all of this work regarding these lawsuits and these things over here on elections. Because, as you mentioned, elections have consequences. And you ran a very… important race for your house district. And Rebecca Stewart was actually, I have this in air quotes, elected to that position. And she is one of the sponsors on this House Bill 251312. It’s titled Legal Protections for Transgender Individuals. But as we delve into it, there’s a whole bunch of things I’m concerned about. But the two things that percolate to the top is, first of all, if parents do not affirm their child experiencing gender dysphoria and bear in mind that you’ve got this whole transgender extremist agenda pushing this in the schools and after schools. So the kids come home, you know, they’re impressionable. They say, gosh, maybe, blah, blah. And if you don’t go, oh, yeah, that’s the case. This bill says that child protection services can come in and take your kids. And I know people don’t believe that’s possible here in Colorado, but that’s what this says. I’ve read it. And the other thing is, is if you’re out in public places and you don’t affirm someone lying to themselves, they’re a man and they – Think they’re a woman. If you don’t affirm that, it could be considered discriminatory. And who knows where that’s going to go. And so when elections have consequences, just think if Ramey Johnson was in that spot instead of Rebecca Stewart, we wouldn’t have this going on. So it’s important. I know that you’re pretty humble here. And so that’s why I’m saying this is elections have consequences. And if Ramey Johnson was there instead of Rebecca Stewart, this wouldn’t be happening.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, it wouldn’t. I would just like to say that this district basically does not have representation. This type of bill does not reflect the values of House District 30. I grew up here and I really don’t have Rebecca Stewart is a fine person, but I really have a hard time with the way that she’s representing us. She does not have children of her own, Kim, and you look at the world differently than you do. She actually did not grow up here. She hasn’t lived in this district long enough to understand what our values are, and I have trouble with that. I would just like to say something about this transgender The human brain does not even actually mature until about 24 years of age. And if an adult wants to go down this path, that is their choice. You know, that’s something that they can pursue. But our children are being brainwashed in school. And we have to affirm with the teachers in some cases, We’ve really got some fine teachers in our in our education system. But for those that have chosen to accept this kind of thing if parents don’t get a lot don’t agree with it then we have to support that in our home with the pronouns of our own children. This is this is a total violation of being a parent. particularly from a person that doesn’t have children. I take real problem with that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and rightfully so. This came in from one of our listeners. She said they don’t want a Republican form of government. They want a tyrannical form of government. She’s right on that. And then she also said when asked about this bill, this House Bill 1312, if it was going to be put forth, She was asked about that at a town hall, and she said that she hadn’t heard anything about it. And then 48 hours later, she is one of the sponsors. Again, that is – I think that’s being disingenuous with the voters. And one other thing that I just – a point I wanted to make, Ramey, is my understanding is on Sunday – down at the State House, and I think Gammy said that it was Representative Titone that called the Republicans Nazis or anybody that was disagreeing with this transgender bill. And it made me think, when I was in 2016, when I went to Normandy with this group, with these 40-day veterans, we ended up having dinner at a variety of different people’s homes. And one of the homes where we had dinner is the grandmother had been a child during World War II. Family was Jewish. And at the age of three, her mother was taken to a concentration camp. And so a Catholic family, blonde haired, blue eyed family took her in during that time. And said that she was their child as well to save her life. And her mother was actually did make it through the concentration camp. The father didn’t. But her mother was never quite the same. But what I was thinking is the Nazi regime and also they took German kids away from their families as well. Taking children away from their families is something that Nazis do. And so I wanted to make that point with this representative calling those that disagreed with this bill Nazis. The real Nazis are people that want to take away children from their families. And I know that’s a strong statement, but it’s a statement that I wanted to make, Ramey.
SPEAKER 04 :
Isn’t there an irony, Kim, that somebody that can call other people names, for one thing, it’s poor manners to begin with, and her caucus should have grabbed her by the ear and asked her to behave. It’s not good manners. It’s not even statesmanship. There’s nothing like that down there, where somebody can make an accusation like that, and actually they are the ones that are behaving wrong. in that way. It’s a real irony. We are in real trouble in this state with the kind of representation that we have, Kim.
SPEAKER 14 :
And that’s why elections matter. And our listener said I was incorrect on Rebecca Stewart. It was not this 1312 that she said she’d not heard about. It was the resolution regarding Tabor to sue regarding Tabor. Rami Johnson, we’re out of time. Your final thought. Okay. And you’re both concerned about a piece of legislation, House Bill 25-1220, and it is the regulation of medical nutrition therapy. And whenever I see the word regulation, I see the word force. And we’re freedom people over here. So why are you two concerned about this? Christine, let’s start with you.
SPEAKER 15 :
I have a lot of concerns about this bill. But yes, I agree with your assessment of it really being about force and forcing only a single kind of practitioner, which is a registered dietitian, to be able to practice nutritional therapy in this state. So the way that it’s been advertised is that it’s just to licensed dietitians and the way that this is just kind of all about Medicare and Medicaid. But if you actually read the language of the bill, there are a lot of things that fall under this kind of broad category of what they’re calling medical nutrition therapy that puts many other types of practitioners at risk. And the access of Coloradans to get holistic and alternative care In any way that is involving nutrition, it puts our practices at risk and it puts people’s ability to access that type of care at risk.
SPEAKER 14 :
This concerns me significantly as well. And there is bipartisan support on this. And we do think it’s important that you know the names of those that are sponsoring this legislation. And so let me give that to you quick like here. Again, this is House Bill 1220. The sponsors on this are Democrat Representative Karen McCormick, Republican Representative Anthony Hartsook, Republican Senator Byron Pelton, and Democrat Senator Kyle Mullica. And… It’s important that we know who has their name on this. And CUT, Colorado Union of Taxpayers, is a no vote on this. But Jessica Whitmill, tell me why you are concerned about this bill.
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. Just like Christine said, this bill really does create a monopoly in the state. We know that nationwide about 60% of adults have some sort of chronic disease that’s preventable by simple changes in their diet and lifestyle. So by restricting access to important nutrition care to only 1,000 qualified practitioners in the state that are registered dietitians, we’re not only restricting that access, but we’re also potentially really dismantling thousands of businesses in the state of Colorado as well. Because this has far reaching effects beyond just nutrition professionals, but health coaches and people who do like Ayurvedic medicine or postpartum doulas, anyone that’s offering individual nutrition guidance, will be restricted by this law and not only that but it would be considered a class two misdemeanor which is an excessive and unseen penalty that is not even in similar laws in other states that restrict the profession of holistic nutrition so it’s very concerning this overreach with this bill
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, don’t you think people are smart enough to figure out who they might want to talk to regarding their nutrition instead of having the government come in and do this whole licensing? Because I know licensing, that’s a whole other issue. And I know that, for example, hairdressers have to be licensed. But I don’t go to my hairdresser because she’s licensed. I go to her because I have a good experience. I trust her. She does a good job. And don’t you think people should be smart enough to figure that out themselves on this? Christine McCarroll?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, absolutely. And, you know, as I mentioned, I have been in practice for a decade and my practice has built fully up to a very full practice based purely on referrals. So people come just as you would go to your hairdresser, you get a good result, you’re happy, and you tell the people that you know about that. So I’ve seen that with a lot of my colleagues as well. You get your referral, you know who’s actually going to help you. And quite often, frankly, I’m getting people who have been to many other kinds of practitioners and haven’t been able to get resolution. And that’s why they seek out the care of somebody who can help them a little bit more specifically and individually. So I do think people are wise enough. People have experiences, and then they understand what they’re supposed to do. And honestly, I’m not here to set up a war with dieticians. I think the care in, for example, a hospital setting, I don’t have any interest in knowing how to or administering dietary food through a feeding bag in a hospital. That’s not my skill set. So I have no issue with there being a licensure requirement for something like hospital care. But there is this entire other group, which includes, as Jessica was mentioning, a majority of Americans who have some sort of an issue and may be helped by the kind of intervention that holistic nutritionists and functional nutritionists could provide.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and so, Jessica, you mentioned a couple of things. You mentioned the word penalty, which that’s a force word. And I mentioned requirement or regulation. I guess regulation is another force word. What does this penalty look like? Because I’m pretty concerned about that.
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. So somebody who is not a registered dietitian, by what the law says, it’s vague in how it’s written. And that’s why Christine and I and our group of holistic nutritionists are concerned because it could be things like reviewing somebody’s food journal, right? Providing a specific supplement or nutrient recommendation or specific food timing or specific food group that would benefit a client based on their health And goals, right, could be considered a Class 2 misdemeanor just because we are not considered that registered dietitian, that licensed authority in the state on individualized nutrition guidance.
SPEAKER 14 :
So penalties would be what, a financial penalty? A Class 2 misdemeanor, so jail time and fines. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to laugh. This is serious. But somebody comes to you.
SPEAKER 12 :
It is serious.
SPEAKER 14 :
Somebody comes to you and you help them with their nutritional things that they want to eat. And if you do that and you don’t have a license, you could be thrown in jail and have to pay a penalty. I’m beside myself. I can’t believe this, Jessica.
SPEAKER 02 :
I can’t believe it either, Kim. And, you know, this goes beyond even certified nutritional therapy practitioners like Christine and myself. We think about people who are like fitness coaches that might offer macro balance advice tailored to a client’s fitness plans, right? And we are worried that things like that could be even considered within this law a crime to provide your clients with that individual guidance that they need in different types of settings where nutrition is an important topic of conversation. And so especially somebody like a trained health coach who’s also a fitness coach, that could be restricted as well. So this has a far reaching effect to many, many small businesses in the state, as well as people who are just trying to help people have active, healthy lifestyles and prevent diseases that we know can be prevented with lifestyle and diet intervention.
SPEAKER 14 :
Goodness. So, Christine, years and years ago, I was about 30 pounds heavier than I am now. And so at that time, my mom and my grandmother always struggled with their weight, and they were doing Weight Watchers. And so I never signed up and did Weight Watchers, but because that was in the house and all of the information, and that was at the time that you weighed your food and everything. But I really learned a lot about nutrition. And over time and with exercise, I ended up losing weight and been able to keep it off because I also have this rule that if something, if you’re going to splurge on a calorie, you want to make sure that it’s worth it, that it tastes good enough to do that splurge on it. So I’m thinking that even something like a Weight Watchers, could possibly fall under something like this. Is that too much of a stretch, Christine?
SPEAKER 15 :
I think the issue is that is a gray zone, and really that’s what we’re pushing for is amendments in this gray zone. So, you know, I think what the purported nature has been is that, okay, as long as you are not, quote, unquote, treating disease, it’s not, you know, you’re excluded, and there are exemptions within this bill, and that is what the sponsor’s keep promoting as though there’s exemptions and it doesn’t matter. But when you say, you know, any of those things are defined as medical nutrition therapy. So what we’ve been hanging our hat on, what they’ve been hanging their head on is like, well, just don’t diagnose somebody, right? So I couldn’t like, you know, say, oh, I diagnosed you with type two diabetes. you’re just overweight, you’re in Weight Watchers, it’s not a problem, we’re just going to do this. But that could be considered if someone in Weight Watchers was to give individual recommendations on something like counting points. I’m actually not all that familiar with Weight Watchers, but I do think there is some point counting. If they were to give individual recommendations, the way that the law is written is those definitions could be considered medical nutrition therapy. And so that MNT is really where there is the issue is all of those definitions. And the definitions are quite vague to the point that it absolutely could be that we are considered providing this medical nutrition therapy per the definitions in this law. And, you know, something else I’d like to point out is that this is really, I believe, part of a broader strategy. I went into research what’s happening in other states, and there are currently eight states. where we have active legislation that’s very similar and has almost the exact same wording of this medical nutrition therapy, including things like nutrition assessment, nutrition intervention, nutrition monitoring, all of those things. But yes, even something like your Weight Watchers could fall under. So we have eight states currently with almost identical legislation coming through. So really pointing to, you know, this is a broad coordinated effort. This isn’t a Colorado-born solution to a local problem.
SPEAKER 14 :
Boy, that actually addresses something coming in on our text line. So let’s go to break. I am talking with Christine McCarroll and Jessica Whitmill. Is it correct if I say that you are holistic nutritionists? Is that the proper way to introduce each of you? Christine? Christine?
SPEAKER 15 :
So, yeah, so my official, you know, certified title is functional nutritional therapy practitioner. But, yes, that is a heck of a mouthful. And I do usually tell people who would ask that I practice holistic or functional nutrition.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. I think that makes a lot of sense. This is really an important discussion, my friends. This is under the radar with all of these bills down there. It’s under the radar. But this is really, really important. And, gosh, to say if someone – is an expert in nutrition and they’re giving somebody nutritional advice that they could be brought up on a misdemeanor and have penalties in jail time we definitely are in crazyville we’ve got to make sure that this doesn’t happen and so we will continue the discussion and we have these because of our sponsors and one of those is lauren levy

Well, I would love this bill to be pulled. I also I feel like this has the weight of industry behind it, and it’s probably going to come back around. So in my in my mind, the realistic solution is probably amendments. But of course, I would love for it to be pulled.
SPEAKER 14 :
OK, now this is the next thing is I don’t think that these legislators went down to the statehouse and said, hey, I’m going to to bring a bill forward on regulation of medical nutrition therapy. Somebody shops this to them. And you mentioned that there’s very similar legislation in eight other states. So that makes me think, okay, what’s the real endgame on this? Who do you think is behind this, Christine McCarroll?
SPEAKER 15 :
So I think it’s, to me, pretty clear that the push is coming from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which bills itself as the gold standard in nutrition. But essentially, they are a trade group, and they have a documented track record of having very close financial ties to junk food and pharmaceutical and pesticide companies and their own internal documents. So they have millions of dollars in sponsorships from companies like Nestle and Pepsi and Bayer and General Mills. And I think that they are just a trade group. They are a front. And they have even been criticized by the Federal Trade Commission. So a few years ago, there was a study in public health nutrition because they were pushing all of these corporate-friendly messages and taking money on the backside from processed student beverage giants.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. What’s the name again of that trade group? The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Okay, nutrition and dietetics. Okay. Boy, this is really important, particularly with MAHA, which is Make America Healthy Again. I find this so interesting. This is all happening at the same time, and I’m going to have to look all that up. Jessica Whitmill, we’re getting low on time. I first of all want to thank you and want to thank Didi and Angela for getting this onto my radar. I really do appreciate this. This is something that is so important. So Jessica Whitmill, your final thought and then we’ll go over to you, Christine.
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. Thank you so much for having us, Kim. I think on behalf of all of the nutritional therapy practitioners and holistic nutrition professionals in the state, we just want to help people, right? We see the need. We know that there are preventable diseases that Americans, that they can just take simple steps of their diet and lifestyle and holistic approaches, that we can be a completely different nation, a completely different state. And that is our heart behind what we’re doing. We want to keep doing what we’re doing. And we are pleading with the General Assembly in Colorado to make amendments to this bill. or kill the spill as it would prevent so many Coloradans from getting necessary nutrition advice that can be life-changing for them in a system that’s already overburdened and is not serving them well.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and the other thing, Jessica, is just think about all of these small little businesses that this would put them out of business. I’m just really concerned about that too, Jessica.
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. I started my business full time last year, and I’m really, really proud of that fact that I own a business in the state of Colorado. It’s a dream of mine to be a small business owner. And I love what I do every day serving clients and the fact that that could be taken away and that there are other states that are also restricting this. It feels very scary, to be honest. And and I know that. And so being on your show can really provide a lot of hope. that we’re getting the word out about this issue.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and this is why we search for truth and clarity on these issues. And so, Jessica Whitmill, thank you so much. Christine McCarroll, again, thank you. What’s your final thought you’d like to leave with our listeners? We have about a minute.

Yeah, I would echo what Jessica said. You know, we are here providing a service. We have, you know, lots of experience behind us. When this came before DORA, back in 2013, they rejected it because there was no evidence of harm from unlicensed practitioners, and that hasn’t changed. So DORA is the only registered organization still also against this bill, which I think speaks volumes. We’re just here to provide a helpful, beneficial service. There’s no evidence of harm, and we would be happy to continue to serve our fellow Coloradans in a holistic and more natural way.

And I think that people should have that choice. I want to say my nutrition, my choice, Christine McCarroll and Jessica Whitmill. I thank you for bringing this issue forward. Thank you. And we had Christine McCarroll and Jessica Whitmill on yesterday. in our number one to talk about this. They’re both holistic nutritionists, and this would basically put them out of business. If they went ahead with their business, they could face a misdemeanor, penalties, jail time, and this isn’t the way it’s supposed to work. And so again, we focus on these issues and freedom is the issue that we focus on here. So again, that’s a very important bill to understand. And it is very germane to this discussion to talk about freedom. And that’s why we do the show. So germane is our word of the day. It’s spelled G-E-R-M-A-N-E. It could be at once relevant and appropriate. And our quote of the day is from Robert Heinlein and had this from one of our listeners said, I love the Heinlein quotes. I had to read them in high school. And Robert Heinlein was born in 1907. He died in 1988. He was an American science fiction author and aeronautical engineer and naval officer. And thank you to Wyatt for sharing this. And he said this. I am free no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them. If I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything that I do. And so again, that is Robert Heinlein. I would encourage you to check out our bill of the day is House Bill 25-1220, Regulation of Medical Nutrition Therapy. And I did want to give you our the Colorado Union of Taxpayers position on this. So hang with me. I’ve got too many different windows open to get to this. We took a position on this particular bill. We’ve taken positions on over 220 of them. And this is an amazing amount of work that we’ve done. And this was our position on House Bill 1220 recommending a no vote on it. And this was our commentary. We said this bill seeks to regulate dietitians and require evidence of academic training and licensing. We wonder if the bill was brought forth by established players, which after talking with Christine and Jessica, I think that the answer is yes. Seeking to protect their granola bowl. In any event, consumers can do just fine without PBIs, politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties telling them who to consult on nutrition. And the track record of government in protecting health is not exactly stellar. And so you will be privy to the email that goes out to legislators and the governor. And as we have been watching the whole discussion on Trump’s tariffs, the pushback, apparently this morning, a I think maybe an additional tariff was going to go in against China. They’re retaliating. Stock market’s down. What does that do to interest rates? That’s why I wanted to talk with mortgage expert Lauren Levy. Lauren Levy, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, good morning, Kim.

We could probably do about an hour on all those questions, Lorne.
SPEAKER 07 :
I think we could.
SPEAKER 14 :
So first thing, these tariffs, and apparently China’s pushing back the stock markets. I guess the futures are down. It hasn’t opened yet. So what do you think about all of this right now?
SPEAKER 07 :
I think it’s been a very interesting time. I don’t know that I’ve lived through something like this, to be honest with you. almost to the day, you know, how news driven things are. Um, because as much as you and I’ve talked through the years, typically when the more, when the stock market is pulling back, which has been going on now for a week, people look for what’s called a flight to safety. So they get out of riskier things like stocks and they buy bonds and that causes mortgage rates to go down when you have like recessionary or stock market stuff going south. Um, it’s usually good for mortgage rates and it’s an opportunity. But in this case, these tariffs are being looked at as inflationary, and it’s causing the opposite effect. So temporarily, we saw mortgage rates take a little bit of a dip right when things got started. But the last couple of days, including this morning, really, the 10-year Treasury is now back up to like 443, and it was 386 just less than a week ago. So it’s been really volatile. It’s making it a little bit difficult for someone, you know, and they might qualify for this rate and then come wednesday the rate’s gone up by a quarter point you know um so it’s really important right now if you’re if you’re in the process of looking for a home or you stay in touch with the person you’re working with but i could it’ll be interesting to see the effect this has to see if it makes just people say i’m just going to hold off for a minute and take a break and and see where this all settles out so could people lock in a rate and then if rates go down get something lower for their mortgage They can. There’s a couple of things they can do. Number one, they can lock in a rate while they’re actually looking. It’s called lock and shop. But you need to find a house within like 30 to 45 days or else you can lose that rate.
SPEAKER 14 :
And do you have to pay money to try to lock that in?
SPEAKER 07 :
No. No, you don’t. Not for that period of time. Only if you wanted to lock it out for like, you know, 120 days or something. And then, likewise, they could go under contract, and then if the rates drop in the meantime, it’s possible that someone like me could move it to a different bank if time allows. But what I tell people is if rates drop soon after, then within the next several months, I’ll help them refinance and cover as much, if not all, of the closing costs the second time around. just to make it right on the back end. So there are things you can do if you’re working with someone that’s willing to help you and do the right thing. There are ways to just get in the house if you can afford it now and then handle it later if rates should go down. It’s just so volatile right now. We don’t really know which way things are going, and that makes it kind of difficult.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and this is something we have not mentioned in a while regarding you and your particular mortgage business. First of all, I mentioned that you – can help people in 49 of the 50 states. But the other thing is, is you’re not constricted to work with just one particular company of lenders. And you just alluded to that, that you could switch, which that brings a lot to the table for people as well.
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely. It’s one of the benefits of working with a broker is, you know, we have more banks than I would have knowledge of that we’re signed up with just because for various different reasons. you know, it’s over a hundred. So if need be, if we’re working on a loan and something drastic happens where rates go down and, you know, you need at least like about 10 days to get a loan done legally. So if you’re within 10 days of closing, it’s very hard to move it to another lender. But if it’s outside of that, conceivably we could move it to a different lender and secure a lower rate. And that’s definitely an advantage of working with a broker.
SPEAKER 14 :
okay one other thing you mentioned this well we talked about this volatility in the market and when stocks go down and we have supply and demand people generally may move to what’s considered a flight to safety which would be bonds government bonds and normally so you have more people demanding that which would then put pressure on interest rates and bring them down, but you said that they’re staying about the same. How can that be if you’re having more demand for that?
SPEAKER 07 :
Because they’re not buying those, Kim. That’s a normal situation where they sell stocks and buy bonds, but what they’re doing right now is just going to cash. They’re just selling stocks and not buying anything because they’re afraid that if they buy government bonds right now and we have inflation from these tariffs— that they will have been able to get a better yield or a better interest rate on them if they waited. And so inflation tends to make bond yields spike. And that’s what’s happening today. Like the 10-year is up 13 basis points just this morning from 430 to 443. So if you bought… If you bought a 10-year yesterday and you got it at 429, today you could get it at 443.
SPEAKER 19 :
Wow.
SPEAKER 07 :
So they’re just waiting, you see, so they can get a better opportunity. So when they’re worried about inflation, they just don’t buy government bonds either. They just go to cash.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Okay. Well, all this is so complicated. In the meantime, there’s houses out there. People may be outgrowing their house. They may want to downsize. They may be moving out of Colorado and want to move to a different state. And you can help them in all the states except New York. What’s the best way for people to reach you?

Oh, my gosh. I know. And we’re getting into that particular season. And what’s the crops look like out there as you’re traveling throughout rural America?
SPEAKER 08 :
In the bag.

What do you mean, in the bag?
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m told the wheat crop in Kansas, Oklahoma, is looking fantastic. I haven’t been to southwest Kansas in the last, well, since February 15th or 13th. But this week, after a little bit of rain, most of the country is going to start to see corn planting take place. So it’s in the bag, and it’ll be going in the field here directly.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Well, that’s good. What have you been up to this last week, Trent Luce?
SPEAKER 08 :
Not a darn thing, just sitting around here waiting for something to happen. No, that’s not true. Sunday, this is another one of these encroachments on – PEOPLE’S PROPERTY. I DON’T HAVE A FULL HANDLE ON WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE, ALTHOUGH I KNOW EVERYTHING THAT’S BEING REPORTED. THE MAUD FAMILY IN SOUTH DAKOTA HAS BEEN FARMING LAND SINCE BEFORE THERE WAS A U.S. FOREST SERVICE DESIGNATION ON THEIR LAND. AND IT DATES BACK TO THE 50s, EARLY 50s. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS YOUNG COUPLE, CHARLES AND HEATHER MAUD, AND THIS HAPPENED LAST FALL, were arrested and their trial is to begin on Tuesday of next week, the 29th. And the charges are potentially 25 years in prison for both of them. And they farmed 25 acres of land without said permission from the federal government. It’s actually in line with what happened to a friend of mine in California who went out and he bought a piece of property that he had never owned He went out and he chisel plowed that property and he wasn’t arrested with criminal charges, but he was fined and ultimately paid $2 million fine for plowing a field without permission from the federal government. In this case, they’ve got criminal charges of trespassing and we are going to have a rally supporting the Maude family at noon on Sunday this coming weekend as their trial is set to begin on Tuesday. It’s just unbelievable how Our federal government seems to target people for some reason. There’s always a reason behind it. And before you and I got together in 2016, I spent a tremendous amount of time with the Hammond case in Harney County, Oregon. And they put a father and son in prison in that situation for, they said, burning federal property. And Stephen Hammond called and got permission to start a backfire to put out a fire that was started by lightning. And then that recording was even played in court. And yet they convicted them of destroying federal property and sentenced to five years in prison. So these egregious actions continue to happen. And fortunately, the community is going to rally around the Maud family. And we’ll see what happens within the next week.
SPEAKER 14 :
So how do you spell their last name, Trent Luce?
SPEAKER 08 :
M-A-U-D-E.
SPEAKER 14 :
The Maud family. And you said this is in South Dakota.
SPEAKER 08 :
Custer County, South Dakota County. Charles and Heather Mott are, they’re probably 35 years old, and they run a diverse farming operation, been doing what the Mott family’s been doing since 1900 in South Dakota. And all of a sudden, what they’re reporting, Kim, is that there is a hunter, that last spring witnessed the Maude family farming land, 25 acres. Again, I want to remind you, 25 acres that was not their land to be farming. It was just Forest Service land. If it’s Forest Service land, that falls within the guise of the United States Department of Agriculture. So, again, there are so many unanswered questions, and I think that confusion is what everybody wants to keep on the forefront here. I’ll have much more detail next week because we’re going to have our event Sunday, and then again the trial is to begin in federal court in Rapid City on Tuesday.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so I think I’m understanding this, and I found this from Tri-State Livestock News. It says a ranch couple faces criminal charges over a federal property boundary, but you’re saying that the family has been farming this particular piece of land for many, many years?
SPEAKER 08 :
Since 1952.
SPEAKER 14 :
since 1952. Right.
SPEAKER 08 :
And that piece that you’ve written by Carrie Stadheim is absolutely the most accurate piece that you’ll find. She’s fantastic.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. And it says that the summons charges them separately, which means they must retain two attorneys, which that’s expensive. And they could each be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and find up to $250,000. What were they farming on this particular 25 acres?
SPEAKER 08 :
What crop?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Typically wheat.
SPEAKER 14 :
So wheat that feeds people?
SPEAKER 08 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Okay. So, again, the family’s been farming this land since 1952. They’re raising something to feed people, and the federal government is bringing them up, saying they might throw them in prison for 10 years and fine them up to $250,000 each. 10 years each.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, exactly. Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Huh. This is a real problem. That’s a minor statement.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, it is a real problem. And nothing is really clear because in defiance of what I would suggest, and nobody can call and ask me, their attorney has prevented them from talking to anybody on or off the record. I don’t think that’s the approach anybody should take. I’ve known Heather Maude for some time because she actually, this is a bit interesting, Kim. Heather was the person who, she also works at the Tri-State Livestock, who you quoted that story. She’s been not maybe a full-time employee, but a contract writer for Tri-State Livestock. She was the one who covered the Hammond case for Tri-State Livestock in Oregon that I talked about before. And here they have something very similar placed against them. And the way that we’ve, if you can say we fixed it, the Hammonds were pardoned, the Hammonds are out of prison and they’re home and they’re ranching and they have been now since 2019. The way that we fixed that is we shined, we did a big light, we put sunlight on the situation and the atrocities that were occurring. And I sat on the couch with Susie Hammond, and she walked me through in an interview exactly what took place and why this was an egregious misstep of justice. And because we rallied the whole nation, and in some cases the entire world, about what was happening to the Hammonds, the sunlight brought about somewhat of a just cause where they otherwise would have spent five years in prison, terminal islands. Stephen would have. Dwight wasn’t ever scheduled for that. Dwight’s the father, Stephen’s the son. But in the Mudd case in South Dakota, their attorney will not allow them to talk to anybody. And I think too many times attorneys do that, and it really creates a harm to their clients. Because if we could really shed light on exactly what took place. Now, the reason that you see Kerry writing about that is that Heather’s mother has finally said, I’m not gonna sit back and allow this to happen. I’m gonna start talking about what’s going on. And I give kudos to the mother of Heather for saying, we’re gonna shed light on what’s happening to our family.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, I think it’s really important. And that’s why this whole federal lands thing, particularly in the West, with the federal government and the state government owning so much land. And then of course, we have cities that are buying land up as well. Boulder has a bunch of land. And I don’t think that’s the proper role of government, Trent Luce. So I’m going to keep that out there as a cliffhanger. And then I had a listener that reached out regarding he had a question about grandfathering, something that he wanted to do on his property. So I want to ask you about that as well. We’re talking with Trent Luce. He’s a sixth-generation farmer and rancher. We shed light on the people that feed and fuel us. And all of this has been under attack. So if they’re attacking… from a legislative standpoint, from a cultural standpoint, from a bureaucratic standpoint, the people that feed and fuel us, well, that means that they are attacking your food, your fuel, the things that you rely on to make your life go round and round. And I had an email from a listener, Trent Luce, that said that he bought his property in 1986 in a county here in Colorado where there were not really a lot of rules and regulations. Now, in 2025, he wants to put a Quonset property. hot up and he’s having to jump through all kinds of hoops to try to get approval to do that. Of course, I’m sure there’s licensing fees or different kinds of fees. And he said, could I be grandfathered in? And I said, I don’t know, but that seems like a really good question. What would you say to that?
SPEAKER 08 :
I don’t see where there’s any grandfathering clause for somebody that wants to permit something i disagree with the whole permitting process i don’t understand why you have a permit to build something on property you own but as long as we comply they continue to get by with it and it’s just a means of collecting taxes on what you’re going to do but i am not aware of any grandfather clause that would enable him to do that without a permit
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes. Okay. Yeah, this whole permitting and licensing, we had quite a discussion in our number one, Trent Luce, with a couple of holistic nutritionists regarding a bill. And we’ve got two Republicans that have their name on this bill. It’s House Bill 1220, which would require basically licensing for – for holistic nutritionists and I know that I think one of your daughters is in is a dietician which is and they’re so they said they’re not trying to get in on you know what’s happening in hospitals with dieticians but it sure does not make any sense to me that we should have to license holistic nutritionists so what do you think about that?
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m going to have the same standard answer. I don’t know why we need a permit, a license to do anything that we do. Why do we need government permission to be free? Isn’t that what the Constitution was all about, the Declaration of Independence? And yet we are the farthest thing from free ever.
SPEAKER 14 :
We’ve moved away from a free society to a compliant society. And I think that the PBIs have realized that Americans are good people. We want to follow the law. We always hear this term rule of law. But the rule of law, these laws have to hit people. You know, make sure that they cut the muster with whether or not that they can match up to the vision of the declaration and the Constitution. So first and foremost, and I took and I cast some no votes when I was on city council, because under the guise of economic development. They were picking winners and losers. They were saying, hey, this business that we want to bring in here, that we’re going to give you a kickback on some of the sales tax that you create so that you’ll come to our town. And I said, instead of doing these kickbacks, the way to make real economic development is lower taxes and rules and regulations across the board for everyone. then it’s going to be amazing what’s going to happen to your particular city or town. Now, nobody wants to do that, but I challenge some municipality in the metro area to lower their taxes, lower their rules, lower their regulations, and I really think that their little economies would boom, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 08 :
So I’m holding in my hands the Constitution of the United States. Would you tell me which article… And section says that the government’s role is to incentivize business.
SPEAKER 14 :
It’s not there. I know that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, really?
SPEAKER 14 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, right. Government is not supposed to own land, and yet it’s the largest landowner in the United States to the tune of 33% of the total landmass. By the way, I looked it up. Colorado is 36.2, so you’re higher. No, that’s just the federal land owned by the federal government. I don’t even have the state land owned by the federal government. Or city land.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Or the city land. Or the county. Absolutely. So we’re so far away from the basic premise and the guise of what the Constitution says. And every government right now, no matter how small or big, whether it be local or county or township, they want to incentivize business. It’s not the role of government to create incentives for business.
SPEAKER 14 :
It is not. And the incentives are picking winners and losers.
SPEAKER 12 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 14 :
And I actually did take strong stands regarding economic development. And during my time on council, I don’t think that we passed any economic development packages. You know what? There was one I should back up, and that was Cabela’s. That was when I first got onto council. I didn’t quite understand what was going on. In fact, I don’t think I even voted on that. I think that they brought that forward first. right before I got on council. Now, this was a long time ago, 2012, so I’m doing this from memory. But I basically really took a stand on this is not right to treat different businesses differently because under the vision of the declaration, we’re all to be treated equally under the law. And we all have these rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. And those are the foundational principles that this country was founded on. And I had actually put in our teaser for the show that you and I talk a little bit about the Declaration and Constitution, and we automatically segued right into it, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, how about that? That’s what a plan does when it comes together, even if it’s by accident. Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
that’s true okay several things coming in on the text line first thing uh trent is there any way to get this mod case to the attention of the department of justice and possibly through governor pillen okay first of all it’s in south dakota so it’s under governor larry roden okay and secondly this is an interesting little tidbit i don’t know that you and i have ever discussed this but
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m personal acquaintances with Cash Patel.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
And Cash has always been very responsive to me. Like when he was confirmed, I sent him a text and gave him congratulations. He gets right back to me. When this article came out, the latest one, and it actually mentioned Cash Patel in it, I said, Cash, you’re going to want to read this. He has not even opened that text yet. So it was almost like there was a red flag. He didn’t open that one, and he’s responded to me in every other text. I don’t understand why there are some walls you just can’t break through. I do know that there’s been a concerted effort in South Dakota to bring this to the light. Senator John Thune is currently the leader of the Senate. He has not done anything. And there are state legislators who have sat down with his people and explained the situation. And that’s one thing that we plan to accomplish on Sunday is just bring more light to the situation and have somebody say, what is really going on here? This does not make any sense whatsoever. It ranks right up there with the family starting a backfire to put out a fire to protect federal property and then going to prison for it.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and didn’t you say last week we were talking about the Dad’s Something fire in Valentine Park and that there was federal vehicles that were driving across the grassland with a vehicle behind it putting out fires? Do I remember that correctly?
SPEAKER 08 :
Mostly correctly. It’s a Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, not a park. but it’s under Fish and Wildlife Service. It’s 74,000 acres total. There was a refuge pickup driving through tall grass that’s not grazed properly that a friend of mine who is a firefighter saw four different fires that that pickup set as they were driving through while they’re putting out the bigger fires.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, so they weren’t putting out those fires that the pickup was starting then?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, he was getting to them as fast as he could to put them out, but they were fighting a fire. And then here’s a Federal Refuge pickup that’s driving through starting new fires.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so two key things that you mentioned here. This was tall grass that had not been grazed properly, so that’s important to understand. And then I know that during wheat harvest you don’t drive a— you know, a pickup or a vehicle through, you know, the wheat because you could start a fire and that could be a real problem. So even I know that. And you would think that these wildlife officials would know this.
SPEAKER 08 :
And I don’t want to say you’re old or anything, Kim, but your experience in doing that and your wisdom in knowing that is even before they put a catalytic converter on these vehicles. So if you really break down the problem with that whole scenario, which is why it’s a big deal for me, number one, there is management within the U.S. Forest Service, we’ll be honest, management within the entire federal government is anti-grazing. Do not believe that animals should be grazing land. Okay, so because this belief is present at the National Wildlife Refuge in Valentine, You’re not grazing as you should be. So you have overgrowth of vegetation, which is why the fire was very intense. I just want to remind people that 23,000 acres in total burned, about 3,000 on the refuge, 20,000 on deeded property with neighbors that suffer the consequences. Three families that I’ve talked to that will not be able to graze their cows on this property at all this year, and they will still pay taxes, which the federal refuge only pays 21% of what they should be paying. Secondly… You’re so stupid. You’re driving through this tall grass with the pickup, as Kim Munson absolutely just said. You don’t do that. But because there’s a catalytic converter on there, and we put that in place to minimize the emissions to make it a cleaner burning fuel, and yet it creates a higher level of risk. So you have the anti-grazing movement and the whole nonsense of clean air that facilitates more dangerous situations.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and again, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out not to do that. I remember stories as a child that a fire was started during harvest. So here the farmer had the field was ready to be harvested. And it started a fire and it not only burned the field, but also burned the equipment to harvest the field as well. And so again, I remember those stories. And again, I guess that was before catalytic converters, but still it’s always important to be smart and to be careful. It just makes common sense. Yes. And next thing regarding our listener asking about getting this to the DOJ. He said, thanks, Trent. I got my governors mixed up. Well, that happens. I get my governors mixed up. It does, too. Next thing. This is from Eric. He said. Do you know a lot of these Democrat bills that are being pushed forward, are they being created by the ACLU? Because when we’re talking to Christine McCarroll and Jessica Whitmill in our number one regarding this regulation on holistic nutrition providers, they said that there’s eight bills or there’s bills like this in eight other states. And so this doesn’t mean that these legislators are sitting around thinking about what, you know, what is it that my constituents want? These bills are being shopped to them. And is the ACLU behind a lot of them or do you know?
SPEAKER 08 :
I cannot speak to that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. And that was Eric’s question. We have Ron on the line. Ron, what is on your radar?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, Kim. This is a California thing. They… What they do is, and we have their playbook basically, is they taxed their constituents to death. And that’s why everybody’s leaving them. And they’re trying to do the same thing here for their lack of, well, their incompetence of spending. And that’s where they’re coming up with these fees and these licenses and like for weapons. for other businesses. So what they’re trying to do is they’re trying to cover their incompetence and the lack of money that they’ve spent. And that’s what they’re trying to do for their incompetence.
SPEAKER 14 :
OK, and Ron, I think I might challenge you on the word incompetence. I think that they I think they know exactly what they’re doing. And so I’m not sure that I think it’s incompetent. I think that they have a specific agenda. So I might challenge you on the word incompetence, but I think you’re absolutely right. that they’re trying to make up revenue in all different kinds of ways. And that’s when we had Ramey Johnson on in the first hour regarding the long bill, the budget bill, and just this assault upon Tabor, our Colorado’s taxpayers’ bill of rights. I agree with you. They’re trying to make up revenue every place that they can, Ron.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, Kim, I’ve seen this. They have it on TV that the Tabor, the people, do you know that they – with their adjustments, they have $40 billion of taxpayer money, and now they want to get more. So they’ve spent $40 billion, and now they’re going after the Tabor because they went through that $40 billion.
SPEAKER 14 :
You have certainly nailed it. So thank you, Ron. And Trent, I know you’re watching all the different states, but out here in Colorado, we have an enormous spending problem. We have something called TABOR, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights, passed by the people of Colorado in 1992. that basically said to pbis politicians bureaucrats and interested parties if you want to raise our taxes if you want to incur debt that we have to pay off or if you want to keep excess revenue that you’ve collected from us we the people you just have to have the good manners to ask us well now we have democrat legislators that are bringing forth a resolution to sue to try to get rid of this because they say that it’s not i have this in air quotes a republican form of government When we have those on the left that say capitalists are greedy, capitalists don’t have the force of government behind them. But government does have force. And I think one of the greediest things that you can do is to tax, create debt, and keep excess revenue of the people of Colorado. I think that is the definition of greed, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 08 :
One hundred percent. I am familiar with the Tabor situation. I don’t zero in on it, Kim, because I have plenty of things to work on. But I do know the amount of money that’s been compiled and the lack of accountability on where it’s going. But it’s not government that’s going to bring that accountability. It’s everyday people, just like the phone call we got. And more people engage, the more accountability there is. It falls upon the citizen.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, it does. And Trent, that is why I really think that these elections are so important, because as we shed light on these issues, as people understand what’s going on, I think the American people will vote for. freedom in their lives, liberty, the responsible exercise of freedom. But that is why these elections are so important. And I talked about it in the first hour. These two lawsuits that we’ve raised the money for that are in place regarding our elections in Colorado and then Trent, I’m in the process of raising money for Holly Kaysen, Ash Epp, and Sean Smith, who they were sued by La Familia Vota. I think it is. Let me get it right here. I’ve got it right here in front of me. Mi Familia Vota, the NAACP and League of Women Voters regarding the U.S. election integrity plan that did canvassing after the 2020 election. And they won their case against these three entities that brought this lawsuit. But they incurred a whole bunch of attorney’s fees. And they were, my understanding, they were awarded attorney’s fees. Well, there is this little-known Supreme Court case, Christianburg, that happened in 1978. It was a Supreme Court ruling that said if an NGO… and even if they lose, if the NGO sues someone and loses the case, they don’t have to pay legal fees. And so Holly, Ash, and Sean are going to appeal this. They need money for attorney’s fees to make this happen. I think this could go all the way to the Supreme Court, and I think that this could really be a big case for, regarding getting these NGOs, reducing their power, Trent Luce?

You just opened up a whole new can of worms. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Equal Access to Justice Act, which began under the Carter administration. And these NGOs, a selective few of these NGOs have the ability to sue the federal government. And the federal government pays their attorney fees So it’s no expense whatsoever, and I have sat with different public information officers of each branch and agency of the government, and they tell me they avoid certain management styles, and again, I’m back to talking about management of resources, based upon where they think the least amount of litigation is going to come their way. But here is a group of three individuals that do not have the same level of protection that a nongovernmental organization has, And the weapon that they all use against us when we are right, it doesn’t matter if you’re right or not. You can take it to court and win. Do they really win if you end up with a $250,000 attorney fee?
SPEAKER 14 :
Half a million dollars.
SPEAKER 08 :
Half a million dollar attorney fee to defend yourself and say, hey, see, we were right? No, there’s got to be some serious tort reform to this.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and that’s why this is so important. That’s why I’ve agreed to help them raise the money. And they need to raise $60,000. And we’ve raised about, let me think here, we’ve raised about $22,000. Trent, I’m just coming at this with little bits and pieces regarding getting to reclaim Colorado, because Colorado, I think, is at the tip of the spear. I know that you see a lot happening in all these other states, but I really think that we’re at the tip of the spear on so many different things that are happening out there. So a couple of minutes left, and we talked about the Declaration, the Constitution. We’re all supposed to be equal under the law. How would you like to wrap all this up as we’re heading into the balance of the week?

Well, thank you, Lucy, for listening and bringing this all back home. You know, I mentioned the Hammond situation in Oregon in 2016, and the Hammonds did go to prison for a few years. And there was a community that came to support the Hammonds and the atrocities that were committed against private property and being a citizen of the United States. And one of those individuals, a LaVoy Finicum, a rancher who was a teacher of the Constitution, he went there to take a stand, and they literally murdered him on the highway in Oregon. That particular situation on January 26th, I’ll never forget. I was in Atlanta, Georgia, and I got the phone call that they got LaVoy. That is what we have to keep in mind, that there is nobody that they will not target and take down if they feel you’re a threat. to the control of the government. Thank you.
