SPEAKER 04 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 18 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush. My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, Turk.
SPEAKER 15 :
You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 10 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 15 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 04 :
And we are back here on Rush to Reason. Richard Rush in for John Rush with Andy Pate sitting in, getting ready to draft for, well, I don’t know what it is. But again, folks, we are here for our 2025 NFL Draft Show. Normally we have Walt McClain, Andy, but he decided to ditch us again. We are the backup crew for Walt.
SPEAKER 05 :
He was kind of the face of this, and we are kind of the journeyman backups that you put in because your star is out.
SPEAKER 04 :
You’re the B-plus team, I’m the B-team, and then Walt and my dad are the A-plus team. Exactly. So sorry, folks, you’re stuck with the B slash B plus team. But again, we do this every year for folks that are kind of new. It’s always a fun time for us to just kind of talk about the draft, where we think players are going, what’s happening. And it’s sort of a time for you to kick back and we can ignore all the other craziness that’s going on in the world, Andy. And just sort of hone in on, I guess, what we would call our nerding out a bit, right? Because we do. We nerd out and really enjoy talking about guys running around. Well, not running around in their underwear anymore because they put on the uniform.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, you know, it’s going to be fun talking about this next pick because it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there are a lot of Steelers fans here. I don’t know if you know this, but they’re like the Packers. They are spread across the country. But one more time, before we get to me doing the Steelers, I want you again to talk about who you just gave your Denver Broncos.
SPEAKER 04 :
Fair enough. So it’s between two running backs for me, Andy, and in this case, how we had it come down – would be Travion Henderson of running back Ohio State or Omarion Hampton, a running back out of North Carolina. Both really good players. Similar players in some senses, Andy. Travion’s a little bit faster, a little bit more of a, I guess, a speed-slash-complete back. Omarion… He’s more traditional. He’s more traditional. He runs well. You’ve talked about beast mode, Marshawn Lynch. He catches the ball well. He’s not as good of a pass protector. The tie break for me was I think Henderson, running back out of Ohio State, he catches the ball really well, runs the ball, but he pass protects, and I think that’s something that Sean Payton looks for from his running backs.
SPEAKER 05 :
It sounds like you see Henderson as more of a LaDainian Tomlinson type.
SPEAKER 04 :
I actually see Henderson as more of a— Because Tomlinson did all three aspects perfectly. I see Henderson as more – I don’t think he’s as talented as LT. I think he’s more of an Alvin Kamara type.
SPEAKER 05 :
No, but I mean that type. I mean Alvin Kamara is a poor man’s LaDainian Thomas.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, and that’s what I would say is I think Henderson reminds me – and that’s who Sean Payton is. And there’s been a lot of talk around town about the Joker role for the Broncos, this guy who can do it all. And a lot of people thought that that maybe is a tight end. But I think that that’s more of the running back, where they can put Henderson in the backfield he can pass protect. They can put him out in a slot receiver, and he can be a slot receiver. They can put him almost as an in-line tight end, and he can chip a defensive end before he goes out.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, I’m going to start a stir. I’m going to start a controversy right now. Love it. Love controversy, Andy. And I felt this before we did this draft today. I feel that Henderson could actually be a little better than Kamara.
SPEAKER 04 :
And if you tell me – because Kamara was a third-round pick, if I’m not mistaken.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, but he was a steal.
SPEAKER 04 :
He was a steal. He didn’t belong in the third round. If the Broncos can get Alvin Kamara with Travion Henderson, they will have gotten an A++ pick because I think that that type of a player – just opens up so much to your offense, Andy, that it just brings so much value and so much more explosiveness to your offense if you can do that because the defense doesn’t know where to go. Fantastic. I love it. So, all right, we’re going to jump right back in. Charlie, you can give us our theme music, as Coach Prime would say. And, Andy, you are on the clock with the Steelers, which it gets interesting because, honestly – I’ve got Shadur Sanders going here to the Steelers to pair with Mike Tomlin. I think that would be a great pairing. But he is not available, so they don’t have a quarterback, but I don’t think that’s where you’re going.
SPEAKER 05 :
A lot has changed. A lot has changed. Yeah, Shadur, I took him at No.
SPEAKER 1 :
9.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m sorry I like him too much down in the Dome in New Orleans. I just think he’s going to have a ball down there. And I do not, you know, a lot of teams, a lot of people are saying Jackson Dart, the quarterback out of Mississippi is going to go here at number 21. And the reason they’re saying that is the number one need of the Steelers. And I’m not going to go with him. The number one need of the Steelers is quarterback, and they don’t have a second-round pick, so they get it here or they don’t get it.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, well, they gave that up for DK Metcalf.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right, and so what I believe, though, is that they won’t get it. I believe they’re going to go with other players. They’re going to get a journeyman. They’re going to do something for this year and get a quarterback next year because you just left their second-biggest need running back, Omarion Hampton, on the board.
SPEAKER 04 :
Wow, that would be.
SPEAKER 05 :
I am sorry. There is no way, if I’m the Steelers and Omarion Hampton is sitting there, there’s no way I turn him down. I take Omarion Hampton here, and I say thank you because, oh boy, is he a Steelers type of guy? No, no, he actually is.
SPEAKER 04 :
He’s a Steelers type of player. Jerome Bettis. Again, I just don’t know, and I’m with you. Maybe they go Aaron Rodgers, another journeyman. Maybe they just go Mason Rudolph. Maybe they do take a third-round quarterback pick on a guy. I’m with the Steelers.
SPEAKER 05 :
I think you make do because it’s what you said earlier. Next year is a much better quarterback draft. Why reach now when you can… Yeah, because the Steelers are never that bad, Andy. Why reach for Jackson Dart when you can get Omarion Hemp?
SPEAKER 04 :
I agree. I agree. My issue is the Steelers with Mike Tomlin are just never bad enough… To get a good quarterback.
SPEAKER 05 :
To get a good quarterback. Yeah, but it’s Jackson Dart. I think Jackson Dart is somebody you can get any year drafting low in the draft. the first round.
SPEAKER 04 :
Let me put it this way, Andy.
SPEAKER 05 :
In fact, last year, Jackson Dart would have been low in the second round. Fair enough.
SPEAKER 04 :
I think this, if you’re the Steelers, you’re waiting for a trade up from a Giants, obviously not the Browns because you rarely see in-division trades happen in the draft, especially the into the first round. I could see the Giants moving up and maybe grabbing Jackson Dart here just to make sure no one else does. They move back. They get a second-round pick. They probably get another third-round pick and maybe even a fourth or a fifth there. And I think in that point in time, the Steelers could then draft one of the quarterbacks in the second.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, but let me ask you this. Coming up at the pick number 24 is the Vikings. They only have four picks in the draft. To me, they’re the prime team to trade down.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, well, I think any of these next number of teams, I think, well, actually the Broncos could potentially trade down, depending on who’s available. If Shador is available, I could see actually the Giants coming up with the Broncos and grabbing him there. I think the Chargers are a candidate to trade down because they’ve missed out on some players, although maybe they’ve got one that we’ll go with. And I think the Packers could potentially trade down as well. Yes, we could. I hope we do. With that, we’re going to get to your Packers here, and I want to have – actually, we’re going to go to them after there. So I’m going to be on the clock, Andy, with the Los Angeles – we always mess this up for a few years, Andy – Los Angeles Chargers. What do they need? Well, they really needed Colston Loveland, the tight end out of Michigan. True. They really needed that. They don’t actually have a running back right now. I mean, I know that they drafted Blake Corham last year, but J.K. Dobbins is no longer on their team. Corum is their second stringer.
SPEAKER 05 :
I forget who their starter is.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m not sure who he is. I think the Chargers, well, honestly, Andy, if you had— Oh, wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER 05 :
Didn’t they pick up the Steelers running back?
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, Najee? Oh, yeah, Najee. Yeah, they’ve got Najee Harris. There you go. So Najee. Well, and you could be right, Andy. Honestly, I think the only spot they don’t go here is where there’s some really good talent, which is wide receiver. You’ve got McMillan here. You’ve got Ekbuga, right? Yeah, Ekbuga from Ohio State here. But you just took Ladd McConkie last year. You’ve got… Yeah, but they don’t have that much at wide out. I mean, who’s the other guy they’ve got? They’ve got Ladd and some old guys. And Johnson. Whatever his name is. Yeah, but Quentin Johnson hasn’t panned out. I think, Andy, I think this guy’s falling a little bit right here. Okay. And I think that he’s a good player for him. And I think that Harbaugh loves himself some meat and potatoes. And the meat and potatoes is obviously the offensive and defensive line. Like I said, if he was still here, I think he would go with his Michigan man in Kenneth Grant. Right. I agree. I think he’s going to go Derek Harmon. Defensive tackle. Oh, no. And that probably was going to be your guy that your Packers were going to take. Yes, that was my guy. You ruined my entire season. I apologize, Andy.
SPEAKER 05 :
How could you do this? Don’t you want to get a worse player?
SPEAKER 04 :
You took Derek Harmon from Oregon, who is a killer. He is. He is a really talented player, Andy. He’s sliding a little bit in this case, but I think it’s, again, I think if I’m the Chargers, and maybe they do, right? Maybe they do go wide receiver here. I just think that the defensive line, they’re looking to shore that up, especially, Andy, and this is something to think about, if the Raiders, as in the case happened with us, end up taking Ashton Gentry, it kind of gives them a sure hand in there. So when we come back, Andy, your beloved Packers are on the clock. You get to be their GM, as I know you’ve wished for since you were a little boy. Yeah, but you just ruined our season. You know, it happens. It happens to you a lot. So, again, folks, when we come back, Andy’s going to be on the clock with the Packers. Richard Rush, Andy Pate, KLZ 560, Denver’s Afternoon Rush.
SPEAKER 12 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. SPEAKER 09 :
This is Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 18 :
And they stay there. And they stay there. And they stay there.
SPEAKER 04 :
All right, we are back on Rush to Reason. Richard Rush, Andy Pate, Charlie behind the glass throwing out some bangers there. I believe that’s DJ Khaled, right? Right, Charlie? Oh, my generation right there. Just so you folks know, if my dad was in studio, you would not be getting All I Do Is Win as they come back from break. No, I don’t think so. I’m just saying all we are doing is winning because for some of you folks, you probably never heard that song, but you’re missing out, let me tell you.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, the Broncos are doing winning because they just got the next Alvin Kamara only better.
SPEAKER 04 :
Only better, Andy. But then your Packers, in this case, based on this draft, are not doing winning because I just took the player that you wanted.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, you just took Derek Harmon. For those who don’t know, Derek Harmon is a defensive tackle. He’s 313 pounds. He is a ball of dynamite. going through the line. He bursts through seams and just blows up running backs. He blows up quarterbacks. I mean, he is equally good rushing the passer, stopping the run. Now, his one problem is he’s not a very good tackler yet. He’s got to wrap up better. But you can learn that, baby.
SPEAKER 04 :
You can coach that.
SPEAKER 05 :
He’s incredible. Okay, let’s get to my Packers.
SPEAKER 04 :
We’ve got to move it along here. No, you’re good. You’re Green Bay Packers on the clock. Andy picked 23, and I think you’ve got some great options. Even though I took your guy, I think you’ve got some options.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’ve got some options. Now, I’ve got to go best player available, not what we need. A lot of people think our top needs are wide receiver and edge. They are wrong in both accounts. Okay, those are like our fourth and fifth needs. Our big problem on edge is that we don’t have a good defensive tackle in the middle of them like you just took, and our edge players are having to play too much run. They’re having to squeeze in because our defensive tackles are bowling pins, and they just get bowled over, so our edge players are playing defensive tackle. It’s a mess in Green Bay. However… Tedaroa McMillan, the wide receiver out of Arizona, is still on the board. I have him as one of my top ten players in this draft. This guy is 6’5″. This guy, like I said, has the wingspan of a condor. This guy is the best red zone or move the sticks target in the entire draft. This guy is incredible. And for people who say, oh, but he only ran in the 4’5″. I said this earlier. The sticks move.
SPEAKER 04 :
Andy, I will say.
SPEAKER 05 :
Good luck stopping him.
SPEAKER 04 :
I will say with this, if this happens, I think Jordan Love is going to be happy. Very happy. Aaron Rodgers is going to be mad because the Packers never took a first-round wide receiver with him. I think this is actually a great pick. I know you wanted Derek Harmon more, but I think especially up in Lambeau. This is a great pick. It’s just not Derek Harmon. For sure. But especially up in Lambeau, cold weather, lots of things. He is a quintessential NFC North wide receiver. He’s going to make the tough catch. He doesn’t need to run a 4-3. You’ve got some of those guys on your roster already. You can get some of those guys later on in the draft if you really need them.
SPEAKER 05 :
You know what he reminds me of, though? Remember Rod Smith and McCaffrey for you guys? They were not fast, and they were always open. Okay, they were big, fast. Physical, excellent blockers. So is he, by the way. And yet they were always open. They were always open.
SPEAKER 04 :
Why?
SPEAKER 05 :
Because they ran great routes. This guy does. He’s always open.
SPEAKER 04 :
I think he’s your second coming of Jordy Nelson to me. He’s better. And he could be. And if that’s the case, you guys have got to be thrilled. Because Jordy was a stud for you guys. I mean, it was only for a short time. But he was really, really good in what he did.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, before he got hurt. So, Ted Roe and McMillan. Green Bay, you just got yourselves a new wide receiver number one. There you go. Yeah, at…
SPEAKER 04 :
Pick 23, Andy, which is a great value. All right, Minnesota Vikings. Give them someone bad. You know, Dan’s listening right now. So give them a kicker. I would love to be the next first-round kicker taken instead of Sebastian Janikowski. However, Andy, I do think Minnesota, they need a few things. They’re going to hand the keys over to J.J. McCarthy this year. We’ll see what happens. But to me, Andy, they need help in a few different places. I think this is a trade-down candidate. Because they only have four picks. They need more. So if a quarterback is there, I could definitely see a team jumping up to get him. However, we’re not really doing trades in this, and we’re not getting too crazy on the line.
SPEAKER 05 :
Really quick here. If you did a trade, would you agree that the Giants or the Browns are going to come up and take Jackson Dart right here and give them extra picks?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, it’ll be Dart or shut, right? Is that what we were saying? Tyler? No, no.
SPEAKER 05 :
I would say there’s some speculation. I would say the kid out of Alabama, is it? Milrow? Milrow.
SPEAKER 04 :
I could see that. Again, I think they could stay in the second round. I don’t even think they would need to move up. I think they could snag him. I think this is a potential trade spot for him. I really do because I think that they would, well, they want that fifth-year option, right? And for folks that don’t know, if you’re taking in the first round, you have a four-year contract with a fifth-year basically team option that the team gets to.
SPEAKER 05 :
And that’s why people want to take quarterbacks in the first round when they can.
SPEAKER 04 :
Because it gives, yes, an extra year of cost certainty exactly but we’re not doing trades nope we are not and so andy you get to get used to actually one of andy’s and i’s favorite players in the draft yep he’s being under drafted because he’s a player of not at need which is going to be nick a man worry a safety or db out of south carolina this guy’s a freak andy i think he’s a really good player and i think for the vikings if they do stay put i think that that’s a really good pick for them
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, now, here’s the thing, and this is the great debate that a lot of people are having right now with the NFL draft. Emanuari versus Malachi Starks. Yes. And Emanuari is more the physical freak. Malachi Starks is just a great safety, ready to go, and also very fast.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.
SPEAKER 05 :
Emanuari is the physical freak. Yep, agreed. Rod Woodson. Yes. Okay. Shall I go on?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, Houston, Andy, interesting position because – Oh, because you took Josh Simmons, who I would have had there. Josh Simmons, and I think Houston can go tackle here, Andy, or even wide receiver because they lost Stefan Diggs and Tank Dell is – who knows what’s going to happen with that knee.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, but also you know what their second need is after offensive tackle is guard. He’s still available. And there’s a guy named Gray Zabel, guard out of North Dakota State. I would actually have them taking Josh Simmons here or another tackle, but I think any of the tackles right now are a reach, and I don’t want to give them that. I want them to get somebody who belongs there. Gray Zabel, most people have going to the Seahawks, so this is actually really good value. Gray Zabel, guard North Dakota State, going to the Texans.
SPEAKER 04 :
I like that. Yeah, offensive guard, first guard out, Andy, which I’m okay with. And again, like you say, maybe even could have gone to the Seahawks a little bit earlier. All right, we are up to the Rams. Andy, I’m going to make a quick pick here. I think that this is going to be a really good spot for them to, again, trade out. There’s also speculation that the Rams may take their quarterback of the future here. Yeah, how about that? They may take a Jackson Dart, or if Shador falls, maybe they take him. Yeah. But the Rams have also been known to trade out, Andy, and trade down, and I would not be surprised if they did that. In this case, I don’t think that will be the case. They do need a little bit of defensive help here, Andy. I think they could go with safety or let me see here. Where’s my guy? Well, they got a great safety there. Oh, they do. Sitting there on the board. I think they’ll go with another DB here, Andy, Maxwell Hairston. Oh, okay. Cornerback out of Kentucky. I think he fits well with them with McVay if they stay here, which, again, I don’t know if that’s necessarily the case, but we’re going to go with it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Maxwell Hairston is, for those who don’t know, the fastest player in the draft. And he has got some cover skills to boot, Andy. Oh, yeah. He’s a football player. Now, the one thing is he’s 185 pounds soaking wet. He’s definitely like, well, so is Travis Hunter.
SPEAKER 04 :
But, oh, man, can he fly? He can. Okay, good pick. You’re up. The Ravens are on the clock. Pick 27.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, this is a tough pick because the Ravens, their top need is cornerback, and sitting right there is Will Johnson. However, I’m not going to go with Will Johnson here because their second need is edge, and I happen to like Mikel Williams’ edge out of Georgia. Wow, that would be a – I just think it’s more important to get that big boy up front than the little guy in the back. And I’m sorry, to me, they’re even players, okay? But I like Michael Williams here for Baltimore. What do you think?
SPEAKER 04 :
I actually really like that pick, Andy, just because he screams to me a Baltimore player. Tough guy. Yes, tough guy. He’s going to be physical. He’s going to get in the trenches. He’s going to do what he needs to do. Again, I think we talked about earlier, he’s 6’5″, like 250, 260. He’s a heck of a player, and I could definitely see that. And honestly, if he doesn’t get taken there, I could see him being taken to the Lions. And for him to fall to 27 just based on how the board has fallen, it’s the eagle strategy, right? Yeah. Take the best player available. Don’t overthink it.
SPEAKER 05 :
I agree. By the way, really quick here, going back to the previous pick, the Rams, I had Maxwell Harrison in my mock going to the Rams. So, you know, we’re thinking alike here.
SPEAKER 04 :
I like it. Great minds think alike. So do ours. Go. All right. So we’re going to – yeah, okay. We’ll go here. Lions at pick 28. They are a really complete team, Andy. They have everything. As we saw last year. So in theory, and especially as we get to the later rounds, this is them – the rich getting richer, right? in some cases, and I think that that should be how this is. I think they’re going to look at this board. I think they love Shamar Stewart. I think that they are going to look at it similar to how maybe the Browns were looking at it, but they’re going to actually do it, which is We’ve really got a stud in Aiden Hutchinson. Yes. Can we pair someone else to go with him? I know they’ve got some players on their defensive line, but you saw last year when Hutchinson was out, they did lack some of that pass rush that they needed. So to me, and he’s sort of fallen, but I think he’s a really good player, and that to me is James Pearce. The edge out of Tennessee. Oh, over Shamar. I think so. Just because I think Shamar, I think Pierce is a little bit more technically sound.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, he is.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I think that the Lions like that and value that versus Shamar is kind of a freak, freak athlete in a good way. I mean, he actually lines up measurably to Miles Garrett, which is crazy. Oh, yeah. But he’s not as sound technically. And I think the Lions will really value that. So I’m going to go with James Pierce, edge out of Tennessee. And Andy. Yes. With that, we’re going to pause. We’re going to take a break here in a second. And we’re going to come back for the last four picks. of the draft. We can take our time. The rich get richer. The rich do get richer. We get to pick for, well, you get to pick for the Chiefs, unfortunately, and we just wipe them off the face of the earth. I’ll give them a kicker. Exactly. I’ll take care of it. But, folks, we are going to come back, and then after that, Andy, we’re going to kind of go through the draft, go over some things for people to watch for, and kind of go over our favorite picks of that. So, again, you’ve got Richard Rush, Andy Pate, in for John Rush, Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.

SPEAKER 13 :
Everybody get up.
SPEAKER 17 :
The best export we have is Common Sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason. Everybody.
SPEAKER 04 :
And we are back on Rush to Reason. Great intro there, Charlie. Richard Rush in for my dad, John Rush, who’s on a much-needed vacation. Andy Pate with me. Walt McClain not because he doesn’t love us, Andy, or maybe he just loves his kids more. But we are doing our annual NFL draft show. But you’re his brother. You tell me. And he loves his kids more than you. This is getting personal. It is a great mock draft, Andy. I love it how it’s going. There’s always some surprises. We’ve got a few of those in here. We’re not going all chalk, but at the same time, we’re kind of keeping it a little bit spicy. So with that said, Andy, we now have the four teams left that were in the conference championship. And so you could really argue that these next four picks are the rich, Getting richer. And you could say that with the Lions and with the Ravens and any of these playoffs teams. But really, these last four, right? You’ve got the Commanders and the Bills, the Chiefs and the Eagles. Again, the last four teams that were remaining in the league this last year. They each made it to their conference championship. Now, at the same time, each of them needs something, Andy, for one reason or another. They each need a little bit of help.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, yeah. I mean, when we look at the commanders, obviously they’re being carried by a spectacular young quarterback in Jaden Daniels. Yeah. What a find. And he should have been the number one pick. He went number two. He should have been number one.
SPEAKER 04 :
I think we can safely say the same thing.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, and don’t get me wrong. I think the kid the Bears got is going to progress and become better and better. But Daniels is a different kind of animal. He is going to be a top five QB for quite a while, it looks like. At least top eight. Just a wonderful player. But they probably would not have beaten… Detroit, if Detroit weren’t missing a ton of players. Detroit was missing half their defense. That is the reason Washington… So when we say the rich getting richer, yeah, but they’re not as rich as Detroit.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, they made a surprising run of these four teams, Andy, that the Commanders need the most out of any of them. Honestly, they need more than the Lions. They need more than the Ravens.
SPEAKER 05 :
Their biggest need is either cornerback, edge, or wide receiver. Those are their biggest needs. And Will Johnson… Honestly, if he is healthy, if the medicals check out, Will Johnson is quite possibly the best cornerback in this entire draft. So the question is the medicals. I’m going to have him going there. I think at this point it’s him or Shamar Stewart-Edge out of Texas A&M. I’m going to go Will Johnson.
SPEAKER 04 :
And he’s a blanket when he’s healthy. He was. And honestly, up until this last year, Andy, he was in a position to – well, again, if Travis Hunter wasn’t considered a cornerback or whatever it might be, he’s probably the number one cornerback. Now I think John A. Barron sort of took that from him, and obviously we even took Maxwell Hairston kind of above him. Medicals are a big deal, and some of you listening are saying, well, why is that? Well, again, you’re making an investment in this guy Ideally, folks, a first-round pick, in an ideal world, they would be Pro Bowlers, Hall of Fame players.
SPEAKER 05 :
How many great players have you seen get one injury and then they come back and they’re never the same?
SPEAKER 04 :
It happens time and time again, Andy. Players’ careers that are cut short because of injuries or guys dropping out of the first round. Honestly, names are slipping me right now, but it happens occasionally. Every single year where medicals are a big deal and teams basically know your bone structure by the time this is all said and done. And so for Will Johnson, obviously for him slipping here, Andy, I think it’s an interesting topic.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, he’s healthy right now. Apparently in private workouts he’s knocking it out of the park. But here’s the thing. So what? You still have an injury history now. If you’ve had one there, you know, if you’ve had one ACL, what are you going to have? Probably another.
SPEAKER 04 :
Probably another. Well, and again, I think for him, if he could have come out last year, he probably would have been, well, he probably would have been the number one corner. Yes, he would have. Coming into this year, obviously, national championship last year. Coming into this year, he was a really great player. Or I should say, coming into last year, he was a really great player. They didn’t have a great year. Part of that was just Michigan as a whole kind of fell off after Harbaugh left. overall, I actually think this is a great pick for Washington and Andy. I think that they can use them. They may potentially go with an offensive weapon here, too, for Jayden Daniels. However, like we just talked about, they need a little bit more help all around as compared to just here. So, I like it. We’re now up, or I am, I should say, on the clock. Buffalo… Now, that’s a team that has quite a bit of talent. They’ve got quite a bit of talent. They obviously have the reigning MVP here, Andy. So the question is, where do they go? They need help. Well, they’re kind of adding, in my opinion. What I mean by that is they don’t necessarily need to reach for someone here. They could go with Emeka Egbuka.
SPEAKER 05 :
He does need a better set of wideouts up there. He does.
SPEAKER 04 :
He doesn’t have a go-to guy.
SPEAKER 05 :
I mean, Zay Flowers, people talk about. Look, Igbuka is a guy. Well, Zay’s a Raven. Oh, Zay’s a Raven. I’m sorry. I’m thinking Northeast. Sorry. But he doesn’t have anybody that scares me. Igbuka does everything well.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. And he also ran a 4-4-1. They did. They drafted Keon Coleman last year. They signed their slot guy to a contract extension this last year, Andy. You know, I’m going to go best player available would be technically Shemar Stewart here. I’m actually going to go with Andy. I’m going to break from my draft because I didn’t expect him to be here. I’m going to go with Egbuka here. I think he’s a really high character guy. I think he’s a high quality guy. And I think that the Bills in their case would really, really like… him to pair with Josh Allen, and he’s controlled for a few years. And what I mean by that, folks, is, again, that fifth-year option for a wide receiver, he is on a – when you look at these really talented wide receivers, Andy, they start to get really expensive after year four, year five, even year six.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, yeah. The two wide receivers in this draft who move the chains constantly are Tet McMillan, and Egbuka, who you just took. I mean, both of them, they just move the chains. You cannot stop them. You can say, well, he’s only this fast, this height. Doesn’t matter. He beats you every single time.
SPEAKER 04 :
When it counts, Andy, they are there to rely on. Exactly. You’re up Kansas City, Andy, so we’ll just skip that. As much as I’d like to. I never like when the rivals get a pick.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, you’re going to hate me for this. The Chiefs, their number one need actually is offensive line, but there’s nobody here. You’re reaching if you take an offensive lineman here.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, you got Tyler Booker still available as a guard?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I don’t like, I don’t want a guard.
SPEAKER 04 :
And they just traded away their guard.
SPEAKER 05 :
But why get a guard when you can get Shamar Stewart, Edge, out of Texas A&M? Edge is one of their needs, and this guy is terrifying, and they’ve got just the coaching staff to teach him what to do.
SPEAKER 04 :
Just aim him. I wouldn’t like it if I was the Broncos. The only thing that gives me – he’s really raw, and so he’s got to kind of come into it. But he’s got a guy like Chris Jones, and they’ve got another guy on the other side. What’s his name?
SPEAKER 05 :
And, Chris, here’s the thing.
SPEAKER 04 :
Here’s the thing.
SPEAKER 05 :
They are becoming the team that is getting overtaken athletically by other teams in their division. Yeah. They need – they need to take a risk and have that risk pay off so that they can athletically keep up with the Broncos, with the Chargers. And this is the guy that can do it, Shamar Stewart. I don’t disagree.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, Andy, in this case, I think that he could be used, and it’s Carl Laftis. George Carl Laftis is the other side. But you put Carl Laftis, Chris Jones, and then Shamar Stewart on the field, that’s a pretty nasty defensive front for anyone to deal with. I could absolutely see that being it.
SPEAKER 05 :
And you’re going to need that face in the Broncos.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes. No, you’re not wrong. Okay. All right, Andy, I’m going to go. Eagles, don’t give them anything. Oh, the Eagles. They’ve got everything. I don’t like them. They do everything. Andy, it’s one of two places here to me. Okay. And it’s either Edge with Nick Scowerton from A&M or Donovan Ezuraku. Or, in this case, Andy, in this specific draft, you’ve got Malachi Starks, the safety out of Georgia, sitting there. Now, I know they’ve taken a DB. They’ve got Gardner Johnson sitting back there. But this is what they do.
SPEAKER 05 :
They take players who fall way too far every year. They do. They take players who fall way too far. I don’t have them taking Starks because I don’t have Starks being there. Okay, I have Starks going, you know, to Minnesota at 24. But then they’d have M and Worry, same difference. I mean, these are great players. When we look at these edge players, because I love Azuraku, right? But do you think Azuraku is, or Nick Skorton, do you think either of them is as good a football player as Malachi Starks? I don’t.
SPEAKER 04 :
Just a pure football player. No, probably not as good of a football player. But again, Andy, to me with the Eagles, it’s a situation of, well, again, they just tend to take the best player available. Who’s it going to be?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s a tough one.
SPEAKER 04 :
They’re all good. They are.
SPEAKER 05 :
They did just lose an edge player.
SPEAKER 04 :
They did. I’m going to go with Starks here, Andy, because, number one, they’re going to go back to the Georgia well, and that has proved them very well over the past few years with several of their picks. And like you said, you can never have enough DBs. You can never have enough linemen. Yes, they did lose some edges. They did lose some linemen in that regard, and so I could see them going Scourton or Azuraku.
SPEAKER 05 :
But now you’re giving them potentially another top 10 pick, and they’re getting him at 32. This is what the Eagles do every single year.
SPEAKER 04 :
Andy, it’s the benefit that they get to do because, again, I don’t love Howie Roseman. It’s just a personal thing. Don’t get me started. I just don’t love how the Eagles, and Lurie, I don’t really like their owner either. But they do that, right? And it’s the luxury, which a lot of good teams, honestly, the Chiefs have done it for a number of years, but… But as you start to pay people, some of that goes away. So I think with the Eagles, they’re going to try to take advantage of this window. And if you can get arguably a top 10 player in this draft at pick 32, or Andy, and we’ve mentioned it several times, I could also see the Eagles trading out of this. Again, even one spot back to the Browns. Give someone a fifth-year option. I highly doubt they’re going to go to the Giants because, again, you rarely see in-division trades, especially into the first round. I could see the Browns moving up one pick, grabbing Jackson Dart. The Eagles can still get Malachi Starks as the first pick of the second round and pick up some additional capital.
SPEAKER 05 :
And they can pick up maybe a fourth rounder or something like that. Which is what the Eagles do.
SPEAKER 04 :
Which you’re getting for nothing. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER 05 :
And by the way, from the Browns, if you get a fourth rounder, that’s like end of the third round.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes. Absolutely it is. And so for them, you’re getting a third-round pick to basically just forego that fourth-year option. Well, Andy, I like where we’ve gone here. When we come back here in just a second as we take this break, obviously I want to get your opinion on this. I want to get your thoughts on it as far as kind of where we go, just some really quick thoughts. And then what I want is your three main things to watch for people who maybe aren’t as – big of fans as you and i and walt right you know we’re just kind of i’ll say for people like my dad who they they’ll tune in and they’ll watch it just to kind of see what’s going on but maybe they’re not as intense as you and i are so i want three things for people to look for tomorrow okay all right you have richard rush andy pate here in for john rush on rush to reason klz 560.

SPEAKER 04 :
And we are back on Rush Trees. Is that Burn Baby Burn Charm? Disco Inferno. See, you’re a little bit out of me, but I love it, folks. All right, we are back again. Richard Rush, Andy Pate in for John Rush. Andy, we are finally, I can’t believe we’re not finally, we’re already to the final segment of the show, our 2025 NFL Draft. preview show folks we appreciate you tuning in thank you for letting us burn your ears for i don’t know good three hours here which is always fun for andy and i um so with that andy we just finished our mock draft yeah give me your you got the list in front of you folks you probably don’t remember it that’s okay give me your you know your biggest steal and your biggest reach or your least liked pick okay well also you you said things to look for well yes we’re gonna get to that okay we’re good or a second i should do that second okay my biggest steals uh there are several but
SPEAKER 05 :
My biggest steal, number one, would be the Bears getting Warren at number 10. Tight end, Warren. I would have to say the Chiefs getting Shamar Stewart at number 31. And the Eagles getting Malachi Starks at number 32. Those are steals.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I like that. Okay, which is your least… Well, actually, I’ll give you my steals. To me, the biggest steal… Yeah, I mean, I don’t want to say Warren’s a steal, Andy, because I feel like for a steal, you’ve got to kind of go back. Sorry, go back.
SPEAKER 05 :
But I think Warren is a top five player going at number 10.
SPEAKER 04 :
For sure. So I think that’s great. I think… You know, Andy, I’m actually going to go with James Pierce here to the Lions or the Malachi Starks pick. And I know we’re kind of in the latter part of the draft, but that’s, to me, Andy, where you get the steals, right? Because people are falling. And so those are kind of the biggest steals that I think are. available.
SPEAKER 05 :
What about the Packers getting Tedaroa?
SPEAKER 04 :
That would be another one. If that happens, Andy, again, if you’re the Packers fans, which you are one of, I think you’ve got to be happy because I think that guy’s a stud of a player. I think he’s going to really do well in that offense, and I think that with Jordan Love… It’s going to be a hard combination to beat.
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay. I liked all the picks. So I don’t think there were any bad picks here. But I’m going to say, too, that I think could be the most suspect. Will Campbell at number four for the Patriots is not a top four player. They definitely reached for need. And very good player, but not a top four player. Okay? I had Will Campbell as my 10th best player in the draft. And then… I do think the Saints are reaching for Sanders. Shadur Sanders at number nine. I agree. I think that’s a reach.
SPEAKER 04 :
I think it’s a necessary reach, but it’s a reach. Andy, my biggest reach actually is going to be number one. I think that Cam Ward, number one to the Titans, is a reach. That’s a good point. And I wasn’t saying that it was you. I just think, again, I think this draft as a whole – I just think that the Titans would be very well served to go grab a guy like Travis Hunter, who we here in Colorado have seen for several years now. I just think he would be that prospect that they could do a lot of things with down there in Tennessee. And then again, I think you could potentially get a quarterback at a different spot. So I think that’s a reach. And as much as I like Shador, I’m with you, Andy. I think that that’s a little bit of a reach as well. I just don’t love… Again, I actually, I think my dream scenario for Sador, Andy, and we’ll talk about this just, well, you and I kind of talked about it in the break. I think it’s the Steelers. And you and I talked about it because of Mike Tomlin and folks. I know there’s a lot of Steelers fans here, maybe even some listening. Tomlin is just such a sure head coach. He just knows what he wants. He knows what he wants from his quarterback. And Andy, the Steelers have an operation that does not require a lot from their quarterback. I mean, look, when they were getting a lot from their quarterback with Big Ben, they were a force to be reckoned with. And they still are, right? I mean, they’re still making the playoffs year after year after year with Russell Wilson at quarterback.
SPEAKER 05 :
But they’ve always been a power running team. They are. The quarterback doesn’t have to carry them with some ridiculous passing game.
SPEAKER 04 :
Which, again, having watched Shador, and it’s one thing CU didn’t have. We did not have a running game. But the games that we did have a running game, he was at his best. And so I agree with you. I actually think if he does slip, I think it would be – he’s probably not going to take it this way. He’s going to take it as a slight – I think the Steelers would be the perfect fit for him because, again, I think Tomlin also would speak his language. And what I mean by that is Tomlin would be able to come to him and say, Shador, we don’t need you to win. We need you to come in here. We need you to learn. We need you to be steady. We need you to make the throws that we need you to throw. But we also need you to… hand off when you need a handoff, and then not lose us the game when we have T.J. Watt on the other side of the ball, Cam Hayward, a stud, Minka Fitzpatrick, all of these guys.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I totally agree. That’s the better place for him. I just don’t think that’s where he’ll go. I think he’s going to go to the Saints at No.
SPEAKER 1 :
9.
SPEAKER 05 :
I don’t know that. He could drop out of the first round. It is really wide open with Shadur Sanders. Nobody agrees on him. Yeah, I agree. We agree that no one can agree.
SPEAKER 04 :
right i haven’t gone to the saints though and so that’ll be all right so andy with that we got about five minutes left okay i want your two or three doesn’t have to be three but top things to look for not yet it doesn’t have to be you know a certain player it can be doesn’t have to be a certain team it can be just maybe themes or something for people that are just watching maybe they’ve got it on the background tomorrow night they’ve heard us talking about it they want to know well Okay, what can I look for as a non-football fan?
SPEAKER 05 :
Okay, here’s what I would look for. And it’s not so much a theme, because I think the theme is pretty obvious. It’s going to be defensive front, and there’s going to be a lot of them drafted. I think we already know that. But what I think is important is what happens at a few key picks, because those will totally change the rest of the first round. Okay, and those three picks, I’m going to give them here, number four, number five, and number nine. Okay, four, five, and nine. So you’ve got the Patriots. If the Patriots take Jenty, that totally changes what several other teams do after them. If the Jaguars take Jenty instead of Graham, which they may do, or if the Jaguars go out of the blue and take Membo or somebody like that, that totally changes everything. I mean, it changes like the next eight to ten picks. It totally reorders them. And then, of course, the Saints. If the Saints take Shador Sanders, okay, then it kind of goes predictably the way we did. The Bears are going to jump on Warren. The 49ers will take a defensive tackle, one of them probably Nolan, and so forth, and you can predict them. But if the Saints don’t take Sanders, that totally reshuffles the deck behind them. So I would look at, if I were people who are kind of new to this, because I think the top three picks – are probably going to be Ward, Hunter, Carter, and maybe Ward, Carter, Hunter. But either way, that wouldn’t change anything. Correct. Okay? Everything changes with picks four and five. I agree. And then it can change again with pick nine. I believe those are the picks that can reshuffle this deck and throw it off. What do you think?
SPEAKER 04 :
I 100% agree. And what I would say is look out for some trades. We’ve actually talked about this for two years in a row, Andy, and we tried to predict them. Although last year there wasn’t as many trades as – We thought there was going to be. This year, I feel like since we haven’t done trades in our draft, there’s going to be a lot of trades. I could be wrong. I look out for the quarterbacks because we only have two in our draft being taken right now. There’s a good chance that a third one is taken, whether it be Dart or Milrow. With a trade. Correct. With a trade up. It’s kind of the latter part of this round. And then the other thing I would say is look for… Look for those picks that can change the draft, like the surprise pick, Andy. There’s always one of those. For example, we kind of mentioned the 49ers. A team like last year was Atlanta. They had Kirk Cousins. They signed Kirk Cousins. They still took Michael Penix.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, and they took him way too high. Penix was a second-round talent. They took him at the eighth pick in the draft, I think.
SPEAKER 04 :
Does that happen this year? Do the 49ers, who have Brock Purdy, They’re going to take him. Maybe if Shador does fall, maybe they do. We talked about it hypothetically, but maybe that does happen. Look for one of those things because it feels like there’s always one moment, Andy, in the entire draft where it’s just a surprise. No one anticipated that happening, right? And I’m not saying the Bengals are going to take a quarterback or anything like that, you know. But maybe the Colts. I have no idea. But maybe the Colts, if Shador starts falling, maybe they take a guy. I just look for that kind of that wow moment. The shocker. Yeah. And you’ll know it just from the commentators and all that. So, Andy, we’ve got about a minute left. Anything you want to add to finish off?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, last thing. Who is the most likely to deliver the shock? And I’m going to say, just because they always do, the Raiders.
SPEAKER 04 :
The Raiders. Actually, I’m going to go with you. This is going to be shortly. I think it’s the Jags because I think that they could go wide receiver. They could go running back. They have a young GM. It’s kind of unknown. They have a young head coach, kind of unknown. They’re kind of in a funky situation where their head coach was going to stay with the Buccaneers and then didn’t stay with the Buccaneers. And they’re a No.
SPEAKER 05 :
5 team with an excellent quarterback. You don’t see that often.
SPEAKER 04 :
You don’t see it very often. So you could see them. Again, I don’t think they’re going to go quarterback, but you could see them kind of surprise. And so to me, yeah, I would say that would be the surprising team. Maybe one of the least surprising teams for me would be the Steelers because I feel like they’re going to just do something that is just totally Steeler-esque, which is like not take a quarterback and we’re going to take him a little bit later on. But, you know, you never know. So, Andy, it is always fun. Thank you for joining me. It is just a blast. Charlie, thank you behind the glass for letting us, again, take over the show and you just being the good sport that you are. Dad, thank you from afar. I really appreciate you letting us do this. And, Walt, thank you because you did help us in a lot of ways in that and let us poke fun at you. So, again, folks, you have Richard Rush, Andy Rush. This has been the 2025 NFL Rush to Reason draft preview show here on KLZ 560. Thank you so much. Have a great rest of your evening.
