It, of course, is a big day. It’s October the 7th. It’s two years ago today that hundreds of men, women, and children were slaughtered by Hamas. There’s a beautiful essay that Brad Parscale wrote over at townhall.com. He writes that those of us who know really know better, those of us who lived through 9-11, those of us who understand that radical Islamists want to destroy the world we know and replace it with something far darker, those of us who know better have a duty to fight while there’s still time. And what’s at stake isn’t abstract. This isn’t just about personal faith, he writes, or what we believe. What we’re fighting for is a country that celebrates God-given rights, democracy, liberty, the rule of law, freedom of religion and speech, traditional families. These principles connect the Greeks, the Romans, the Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence to the Ten Commandments. It defines who we are. as a people. And in the Middle East, Brad writes over at townhall.com, Israel is standing on the front lines of this same fight. Israel faces daily threats from radical terrorists and authoritarian regimes that chant death to Israel, death to America. It’s not a slogan, Brad points out. It’s a mission statement. They understand that Israel and America’s history and therefore our mutual destiny are inextricably intertwined. Look, you’ve got to take a side. And for me, it’s real simple. This isn’t about Democrats versus Republicans, right versus left. It isn’t even about right or wrong. It’s good versus evil. And if you want to conflate Israel’s defense And essentially wiping Gaza off the map, considering what Hamas has done and how Hamas has used civilians as human shields, used hospitals, cafes, schools, to almost dare Israel to kill innocent people. The choice is clear. It’s a complicated issue. I’m not pretending it’s not. I get that it’s complicated for some. But ultimately, there is a clarity that we all ought to possess. There is an understanding that if Israel put down their arms today, they’d be obliterated. If the Palestinians put down their arms today, there would be peace in the Middle East. You know it, and I know it. I am very proud to partner this month with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. And on this important day, October 7th, you can tell the people of Israel that you’re with them by supporting the fellowship. There’s a banner posted at the top of my website, mikeonline.com. You can make a generous donation. Any size gift, $25, $50, $100. Your donation will rush a food box to a Jewish person in need in Israel. And your gifts will support building more bomb shelters for the people of Israel and many other life-saving security projects of the fellowship. And thanks to a generous fellowship supporter, for a limited time, your gift will be doubled. Please go to mikeonline.com and make an online donation to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. MikeOnline.com. There’s a banner at the top of the page. And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you’d like to phone in your donation, 800-613-5511. 800-613-5511. Or go to MikeOnline.com. And thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. I want to get to a story that we didn’t cover yesterday. Big cover today in the New York Post. my favorite newspaper in America, and yes, I still love to read newspapers. It’s so funny, Christian and Eric, these guys today in New York are like, you want your papers? Because I love papers. I love the Post. Look at the cover if you’re watching here on Salem News Channel today. You’ll see it in big, bold headlines. Snapped. Why did nice guy Mark Sanchez end up mad and bleeding on an Indianapolis street? Look, this is an almost impossible story to follow. They’ve got security footage of the former Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, who’s now a big commentator. I think he’s on Fox, right guys? He’s like a commentator, an NFL broadcaster. And he was in Indy for a game. gets into an argument with a 60-something-year-old truck driver because the guy’s got his truck parked at a loading dock, which evidently is where it was supposed to be. But Mark Sanchez, who was allegedly drunk as a skunk, gets into an altercation with the guy. Have you seen the pictures of the guy in the hospital? The guy’s got his face split wide open. Sanchez evidently, and this guy get into it, and the guy tries to pepper spray Sanchez to defend himself. That doesn’t work. So he stabbed him a couple of times. Mark Sanchez could have died. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and then winds up getting arrested. Arrested. So, look, I don’t know how to get into the X’s and O’s of this altercation, but here’s what I do know. And I see this every day here in New York or when I’m back in Florida or anywhere I travel around the country. There is so much anger right now in America. People are turning on each other and it is kind of wild. I always have a rule. The rule I have is Count to ten. I think about road rage all the time. I think about fights. I think about people arguing with each other on the subway or bumping into one another in the mall. And before you know it, somebody’s dead. To me, the takeaway of the Mark Sand… And I want you to join me here. Fill up my phone lines. You know me, love loaded lines. It’s Tuesday, October 7th. We’ve got a lot to cover here in the Relief Factor Studios. Our number is 800-655-MIKE. To me, the only takeaway, the most important takeaway, is this. Count to ten. Think that the other person might have the ability to kill you. Consider before you start yelling at a stranger over… getting cut off on the highway, or bumped into on an elevator. Consider the fact that before you get into an argument with that person, that person might be himself unhinged, and he might have a gun or a knife, and your life’s going to be over. And you’re going to leave your wife, a widow, you’re going to leave your kids without a dad, you’re going to leave your children without a mother, whatever it is. There is just so much anger going And there’s a lesson here. The lesson is, take a breath. It isn’t worth it. Life is short. Don’t shorten it because you’re in some stupid road rage argument with a truck driver in Indianapolis. I mean, to me, that’s the whole story here. Give me your take on all of it. I want you to join us. 15 past the hour. Number is 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. Don’t play the fool. Get your act together. Take a breath. 800-655-MIKE. Join us. Everybody plays the fool sometimes. You know how much I care about family, tradition, and the kind of meals that bring people together. That’s why I love telling you about Tritail’s Premium Beef. They’re a fifth-generation ranching family down in Texas, real ranchers, not corporations, and they put together something really special, the Autumn Butcher Box. SPEAKER 05 :
So here’s the way the New York Post has covered this bizarre story involving Mark Sanchez. His friends and former teammates are baffled by the charges levied against him and asking how the nice guy quarterback wound up bloody on an Indiana street accused of savagely attacking a 69-year-old truck driver with hearing aids following a drunken night out. No more Mr. Nice Guy? People are asking about Mark Sanchez? And his friends and colleagues are calling this. He was arrested. I mean, the guy wound up being charged in the hospital room, stabbed in the torso. There’s video surveillance of him bloody. But you ought to see the guy, the other guy, the 69-year-old truck driver. Here’s a guy nearly 70. He’s all slashed open and big, huge gash down his cheek, blood everywhere. What in the world happened? Pennsylvania sent a text message on the MyPillow text line, alcohol is not for everyone. Well, that’s the truth. But I would also urge you to take a lesson from this. Count to ten. Take a breath. You don’t need to get into it. It amazes me to watch. And we’ve all done it. We’ve all flipped off somebody driving down the highway. Somebody cuts you off. You’re mad. You’re honking. They’re flipping you off. You’re flipping them off. And before you know it, somebody’s killed. Was it worth it? As you’re bleeding out on the side of the road because the guy you flipped off shot you, was it worth it? Did you feel better that you gave him the middle finger? There really has to be kind of a reckoning here that we’re all just too angry. We’re all just too prone to instantaneous road rage. Jason’s in Columbus, Ohio. Hey, Jason, how are you? Hey, Mike, how are you today? Fine, fine.
SPEAKER 08 :
What’s up? Good. So a quick comment. My wife does this really funny thing, and maybe it’s because she’s a mother of four and she kind of has that matronly aura. When someone engages with her in traffic, she just kind of shakes her head and gives them a thumbs down. It’s the most disarming thing you’ll ever see. People can just be enraged, and she’ll give them this thumbs down and kind of this disappointed look. And they just kind of avert their eyes and put their head down a little bit and go about their business. I like that. I like that. don’t get the middle finger, just give a thumbs down and just keep going along your way.
SPEAKER 05 :
I like that. Have you ever noticed how it works that sometimes when, if you honk at somebody because they’ve cut you off, how they become aggressive towards you? They’re the ones that did the wrong thing, but they go on the offensive.
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, it’s holding the mirror up and then, you know, now they’ve been almost like being held accountable for an action versus going, oh man, I’m so sorry because I don’t know about you, but if I cut somebody off, I feel terrible. I wave.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, I’m shrugging. I’m saying I’m sorry. I’m mouthing I’m sorry. I feel terrible if I’ve cut somebody off. But a lot of times, people who cut somebody off, again, you’re right. It’s projection. It’s the weirdest aspect of human nature. And this happens all the time. When you might be minding your own business in your lane, somebody cuts right in front of you, almost causing you to crash. You might just honk to let them know you’re there. And then they’re mad at you. They turn around and they’re flipping you off and they’re mad at you and they’re yelling at you. And you haven’t done anything wrong. But what do you have any other takeaway on this Mark Sanchez story? 25 past the hour. We’ve got an open line. 800-655-MIKE. We’ll stay in Ohio where Marshall is standing by. Marshall, how are you? Hey, Mike. Thanks for taking my call. You’re a great man. You bet. God bless you. Glad you called. Thank you.
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, you know, first of all, we need more prayer. You bet. Christ is going to bring peace. So we need more prayer.
SPEAKER 05 :
You got it.
SPEAKER 07 :
This is what I think. This is what I think that his defense team will do. If you look back at his career, he was sidelined several times with concussions. So I think they’re going to use post-concussion syndrome as a defense for him. But he’s looking at six years in prison. I watched it on the news. They charged him with a felony yesterday.
SPEAKER 05 :
I saw that. I saw that. And you’re right, he could be up to six years in prison. But here’s the funny thing about the concussion defense. Does a concussion defense include getting drunk? Because that’s apparently the allegation was that he was half in the bag. Think that something happened there that could cause it? Look, there’s… I will tell you this. It always blows my mind how somebody’s life just gets completely upended by one bad night. This guy’s, I mean, he’s ruined, right? How does he come back? Surely Fox will fire him. He’s going to face felony charges. Might wind up in prison for a number of years. And here he was, former NFL quarterback, big star for the New York Jets. Fox, a color analyst on Fox and Fox Sports? And it’s all down the drain now. For what? For one drunken night on the town? PhD weight loss has changed my life, and I’ve got a little secret for you. SPEAKER 05 :
I have some bad news for you. The liberal hippies are singing again, this time in Portland, Oregon, where liberals are very upset. The left is very angry at law enforcement carrying out the deportation of illegal immigrants. Doesn’t matter that… As they are rounding up illegals, they’re capturing rapists and murderers and drug addicts and pedophiles. It doesn’t matter. No, no, no, no, no. This land is our land. You can’t take it from us, Donald Trump. ICE, you can’t do it. The mayor of Chicago, incidentally, has signed an executive order creating… wait for it, ICE-free zones to try to block federal law enforcement from carrying out their duties. I said this yesterday. I cannot even believe we’re watching the implosion of the Democrat Party the way we’re watching it. It’s kind of a crazy thing to observe. And these big… These big… Huge cities with Democrat leadership that are failing abysmally ought to be a wake-up call. Ought to be a big-time wake-up call. In fact, here in New York, they’ve got a decision to make in a few weeks about the future of this city. And there are three men left in the mayoral race. You’ve got, of course, Eric Adams, the incumbent, who’s dropped out. to try to boost any chance of defeating Zoran Mamdani. And the only two people who can stop him are Andrew Cuomo, the disgraced former governor of New York, and our pal Curtis Sliwa. And look, the election is almost here. Tonight we’re going to have a big online town hall featuring Kevin McCullough as moderator, Joe Piscopo, Both of these guys, dear friends and colleagues of mine here in New York City. Hugh Hewitt will be with us. I’ll be on air. We’ve got Dottie Herman, a whole bunch of special people. You go to am970theanswer.com. You can order your tickets. and they’re free. The stream is available, and we’ve got, I think, thousands of people already signed up. You just go to am970theanswer.com or our show website, mikeonline.com, and get your ticket. Again, they’re free. You just got to go through kind of a registration process, and you’ll get the instructions on how to watch. It’s going to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern tonight, and I hope you can take part. We hope to see you there. I’m very much looking forward to this because this guy’s got to be stopped. I have been doing some soul searching. I just talked to our phone screener, Alex, in the hall, who’s just really in a bad mood. He said, look, this is the second anniversary of October 7th. I just feel so angry about it. I feel so down. I feel so frustrated. And Alex said something that I have said for years. How lucky we are to have a show like this where we can kind of air our grievances, wear our emotions on our sleeve. I do a great deal of soul searching. And if you’ve been with me for a while, you know I’m a pretty emotional guy. Highs and lows. I’m like everybody else. I do my best. Try to keep my head down. I try to do the best job I can do for you. And I have made a mistake over this New York City mayor’s race. And it took my friend Mark Davis this morning to sort of convince me. The conventional wisdom is that Andrew Cuomo, this disgraced, disgusting, failed governor, and he is on every level, just not a good guy. And everybody knows it. Everybody knows what he did during COVID. Everybody knows how his policies led to thousands of elderly people dying in nursing homes. Everybody knows all of his own transgressions. This is not somebody that you can enthusiastically pull a lever for. But Curtis Lewa, the founder of the Guardian Angels, is a law and order, common sense, Republican candidate for mayor. Now, I understand the dynamic that if New York stupidly elects a communist to be the mayor, okay, watch New York crash and burn, but boy, that’ll be great for the rest of the country because 49 other states are going to be filled with voters who are going to look in horror and in shock at this failed experiment. And Mark said something today. He actually has said it a few times. And today, for the first time, it stuck. He said, Mike, you’ve got to do the right thing. If Curtis is the best candidate, you can’t call on Curtis to step down. If anybody ought to step down, it’s this disgrace, Andrew Cuomo. So that if it’s one-on-one and it’s Curtis versus Zoran Mamdani, maybe, just maybe, Curtis has a chance. Now, again, conventional wisdom doesn’t. says that isn’t going to happen. The Kurdish doesn’t have a path to win. You want to know what conventional wisdom also said about 2016? That there’s no way Donald Trump can beat Hillary Clinton. At one point, she had a 93% likelihood of winning. And I have been thinking about this and praying about it and struggling, and it is a struggle, but I am not… going to fall prey to conventional wisdom any longer. Mark is right. You’ve got to be all in for Curtis Lewa. And I am. And I absolutely am. I saw Rudy Giuliani endorsed him yesterday for mayor. A lot of endorsements are coming in for Curtis. He’s got a lot of momentum. I have no idea if he even has a chance. But as an American who loves this country and loves this city, listen, this was a dream of mine to come work and live here. And for me to say, well, I’m going to abandon my pal Curtis. I know he’d be great, but he doesn’t really have a path. I guess you’ve got to hold your nose and vote for Andrew Cuomo if you’re a resident of New York. No. No. You’ve got to do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may. I support Curtis Sliwa for mayor, not Andrew Cuomo, and certainly not Zoran Mamdani. You do the right thing, and you see how it plays out. Every New Yorker has a stake in this election in a few weeks, and supporting Curtis is the only option. And I’m sorry that I wavered. I’ve struggled with this, and I’ve shared. This is the beauty of this show. I love how I get to, when I struggle, my struggles are your struggles. I don’t suffer in silence. So you know something? I apologize for wavering in my support for Curtis Lewa. I apologize for going down the pragmatic path and saying, well, Curtis has got to do the right thing for the city. He needs to drop out. No, Cuomo should drop out because Cuomo, frankly, shouldn’t even be in the hunt. The one that should drop out is the disgraced ex-governor, not Curtis Lewa. So let him drop out. And I was wrong to even suggest that the only path would be for Curtis Lewa to drop out. I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically support Curtis, and that’s what I should have done from day one. And I hope you will, too. Let’s see where you stand with all of this. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. We’re in the Relief Factor studios. It is Tuesday, October the 7th. We’re going to have a very special tribute to some of the people we interviewed in Israel shortly after the October 7th terror attacks. And we do have an opportunity for you to step up and support the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. We’ve got a lot to do today. But let me get your reaction to this mayor’s race for a few minutes. And again, hope you accept my apology. If you don’t, you don’t. It’s okay. But I just come to you with my hat in my hand, and I admit to you that I blew it. I shouldn’t have wavered. I shouldn’t have waffled. I should have been with Curtis completely and 110% all along. And I am, and I will be. And we’re going to see how it plays out. because let’s not let the pundits and conventional wisdom defeat us. Curtis Sliwa ought to be the next mayor of New York City. Not Andrew Cuomo, and certainly not the commie, Zoran Mamdani. Let’s get your reaction to all of it. Call or text, join us, 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. The Mike Gallagher Show on Salem News Channel and the Salem Radio Network.
SPEAKER 06 :
Can we stop with the pro-clutching about the mean tweets and some rare tweets? This week it came to light that a Democrat candidate for Attorney General of the state of Virginia called for the assassination of a political opponent, called for the assassination of that political opponent’s family, and there’s not one national Democrat calling for him to step aside. Not one. It’s disgraceful.
SPEAKER 03 :
In the ReliefFactor.com studios, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 05 :
The Democrat… Some cops need to be killed and maybe then the cops will stop killing other people. That’s the guy who wants to be Virginia’s top attorney general, this Jay Jones character. You’ve got Zoran promising free stuff. So, look, New Yorkers are going to have a choice. And the reason it’s an important issue on this show is that it is more than just a New York issue. The whole country is watching this mayor’s race. And if it goes south, and if an actual communist, a Democrat socialist named Zoran, becomes the mayor of New York City, and this city is damaged badly, the rest of the country is going to say, see what the Democrats have become? And if you’re just joining us, I started the hour with a formal apology for even wavering or waffling in any way, shape, or form. for supporting Curtis Lewa. Of course you have to support Curtis. If you’re a Republican, you vote for the Republican. If you support law and order, you vote for the law and order candidate. If you believe in fiscal sanity, you vote for the fiscally sane candidate. You vote for Curtis. You don’t turn around and say, well, I’m going to hold my nose, and Curtis probably ought to step down, and I don’t know about the red beret, and I don’t know about the polls, and I don’t like the data. No, you do the right thing. You do the right thing. Ron is in Greenville. Ron just dropped off. Sorry, Ron. I hate that you waited that long. Joe’s in New Jersey. Joe, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 09 :
Mike, love you, always have, and I think one reason is you are never reluctant to admit when you’re wrong.
SPEAKER 05 :
I just wish I wasn’t wrong so often.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, it makes you human. I still got you beat tenfold, Mike.
SPEAKER 05 :
I hear you.
SPEAKER 09 :
We’re all fallen. We all make mistakes. Well, you know, in this case, you were right then and you’re right now. But I think the difference is now there’s such a clear moral choice. And if you want to compare this to anything, what if in 1860 we encouraged Abraham Lincoln to get out of the race? What’s his name? John Bell of the Constitutional Union Party could have beat the Southern Democrats.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What if what if a Stephen Douglas supporter said, oh, come on, Abe, you got to step down. You got to be. Well, look at 2016. Could have said the same thing. They were given Hillary a 93 percent chance of winning. She wasn’t supposed to lose. And you could say, you know what, I love Trump, but, you know, I’ve got to be pragmatic. It’s the same exact equation here. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but you know what I do know? God knows. It’s in God’s hands, and it’s in the voters’ hands. Now, let me ask you a question. As somebody from New Jersey, do you think your neighboring state, do you think New Yorkers can come to their senses before it’s too late for this city?
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, Mike, I hope so. And I know I actually work in New York virtually, and all of my Republican and conservative friends and people of faith, they just keep their mouth shut. And I hope there’s this movement, the Charlie Kirk movement, where people just aren’t afraid now to speak up and talk about immorality. This DA… With the threatening murder of his opponent?
SPEAKER 05 :
The Attorney General. Yeah, the Attorney General candidate. Yeah, Jay Jones.
SPEAKER 09 :
Mike, I need to ask you. Was that part of the reason why you’ve changed your mind on this?
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, the Virginia race? No, I think, again, the way I’ve kind of evolved on this is just my friend Mark Davis, who said, look, you’ve got to do the right thing here. If you’re a Republican, be a Republican. And he’s right. And then as we were talking about it this morning, it just hit me. What if we all sat around and said, well, Hillary’s going to likely win, so we’ve got to vote for her. No, you do the right thing. And let God sort it out. Let the voters do the right thing here. And if New Yorkers are idiotic enough… to buy what this snake oil salesman is selling. Free stuff. Free bus rides. Well, who doesn’t want a free bus ride? Free subway rides. Well, you know, the people that don’t want to pay for subways, they just jump over the turnstile. They’re stealing. You want a shoplift? Go shoplift. He’s not going to arrest people. You go into a Duane Reade or a CVS here in New York City, they’ve still got… half the store under plexiglass, all the items. You want to know why? Because all the shoplifters who never get prosecuted. I mean, they’ve lit people on fire on the subways here in New York City. It is time for New Yorkers to wake up. But they may not do so. There is a contempt… that people on the left have for cops, for the rule of law, for peace. I mean, look at the mayor of Chicago. Cut number three. Here’s Brandon Johnson denouncing what he calls… President Trump and the federal government’s war on Chicago. What’s Trump’s crime? He’s trying to clean up the streets of Chicago. He’s trying to end the crime, the lawlessness, the gang violence, the black on black crime, the black on white crime, the white on black crime, the shootings, the stabbings, the rapes, the murders. And here’s the mayor of Chicago.
SPEAKER 04 :
Today I stand with all of our elected officials and community leaders in denouncing President Trump’s declared war on Chicago and Illinois. I am proud the city of Chicago is joining the state of Illinois in our lawsuit against the Trump administration’s unlawful deployment of the National Guard in our city and in our state. I’ve promised that the city of Chicago will do everything in our power to protect the constitutional rights of all Chicagoans.
SPEAKER 05 :
How would you like to be a crime victim in Chicago with that clown as your mayor? How would you like to be somebody who – what about your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers, your fellow churchgoers who’ve suffered violence at the hands of criminals? The Democrats are pro-criminal. This guy’s pro-criminal, pro-crime. Illegal immigration, of course, is a crime. And Americans voted for Donald Trump by a wide margin, contrary to Kamala’s lie. Oh, it’s the closest race ever. Oh, we were neck and neck. He doesn’t have a mandate. Yeah, every swing state, lady. The popular vote. It really wasn’t close because Americans have had it. Americans have had it with failed Democrat policies. And in a way, if… Zoran Mamdani wins, you’re going to see a nationwide revolt against the Democrat Party. Establishment Democrats are terrified of what’s happening here in New York. Why do you think a lot of these big shot Democrats have still not endorsed this guy? Because they know they’re endorsing socialism and communism and anarchy and chaos and crime and misery. Businesses are going to flee from this city. The NYPD is going to have a mass exodus. And they’re going to deserve it all. They’re going to deserve it. They’re going to get what they deserve. Hope it doesn’t happen. I really do. Speaking of Chicago, I’m thrilled. I found out yesterday I’m part of the Freedom Summit agenda in Chicagoland. It’s Saturday. I want to make sure I get the date right. I think it’s November the 8th. If you go to am560theanswer.com, I’m sure you can find details, but I’ll be giving you more information about it. It looks like I’m going to hopefully be doing a one-on-one with Sean Thompson. And I remember him. He was a caller to my show before he became a host. And some of the best hosts are people who started out as callers. Of course, Dan Proft will be there, and I believe Dr. Ben Carson is going to be there, and Scott Jennings. And I’ll be there as well. So make it a day. Come on out and see us for the big Freedom Summit. It’s a huge, huge event. that they’ve done a great job at AM560, The Answer in Chicago, over the years, the Freedom Summit. I can’t wait to meet you in person. Hope to see you there Saturday, November the 8th, right, Eric? You said the 8th, right? Yep, so check that out. I’m also going to be in the upstate of South Carolina next week. They have a big client appreciation dinner. I’ll be there as well for that. Going to be putting up some frequent flyer miles in the next few weeks. And tonight, of course, is the big Mayor’s Town Hall streaming event that you’re invited to. If you go to mikeonline.com or am970theanswer.com, you can get your tickets. They’re free. But it will be a very important conversation hosted by Kevin McCullough, and Joe Piscopo will be involved, and Hugh Hewitt. I’ll be there, Dottie Herman, a whole bunch of great folks. I think my buddy Arthur Idalla can’t be on the broadcast tonight because he’s got another engagement. He’s a very busy guy, a very popular attorney. But I don’t want you to miss that. That’s tonight. Again, for tickets, mikeonline.com or go to am970theanswer.com.
