It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
Kim Monson (Host) :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water. What it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
SPEAKER 06 (Advertisement) :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Under this guise of bipartisanship and nonpartisanship, it’s actually tapping down the truth.
SPEAKER 06 (Advertisement) :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
Kim Monson (Host) :
On an equal field in the battle of ideas, mistruths and misconceptions is getting us into a world of hurt.
SPEAKER 06 (Advertisement) :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Indeed. Let’s have a conversation. And welcome to The Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured. You’re valued. You have purpose. Today, strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. And thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Wednesday, Producer Joe.
Producer Joe (Host) :
Happy Wednesday, Kim.
Kim Monson (Host) :
And it is Wednesday. And what that means is it is Wings Day at Hooters Restaurants. You buy 20 wings. You get an additional 10 for free. And that’s for to-go or to dine in at their five locations, Loveland, Aurora, Lone Tree, Westminster, and Colorado Springs. And tonight the girls are coming over, so I will partake in that special. I particularly like the lemon pepper rub and the Texas barbecue rub on those wings. And, again, that happens on Wednesdays at Hooters restaurants. And how I got to know them, it’s a really important story about freedom and free markets and capitalism. And you can find that at my website at KimMonson.com. Check out the website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. You will get first look at our upcoming guests as well as our most recent essays that goes out on Sundays. You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com. And your text line is 720-605-0647. And thank you to all of you who support us. We are an independent voice on an independent station searching for truth and clarity. By looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. My friends, it’s never compassionate to take other people’s rights, property, freedom, livelihood, opportunities, childhoods or their lives via force. Force could be a weapon policy, unpredictable in excess of taxation. Let’s see, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, the agenda of the World Economic Forum played out by the globalist elites, the United Nations. This Colorado State Legislature is pushing forward that agenda as well with the approval of this Colorado governor. And then we see it in land use code, zoning regulations, forest fees, conservation easements, national monument designations. All these things are to take away property. And that is why we need to shed light on it. Property rights are inherent in the American idea. I think the founders didn’t realize what could happen if everyday people could go after their hopes and dreams and keep most of the fruits of their labor. Well, America happened where everyday people could create wealth for themselves and their family and pursue their dreams. That has been under attack really since after the Civil War with the progressive agenda. And we are now in the third founding of our country with the Trump administration, Trump two, as I’m calling it. And we each are going to have to step forward as well. Trump is basically just opening a crack here in the door to reclaim our country. Colorado is at the tip of the spear of all the radical activists, Marxist stuff that’s going on. We have work to do here. And we have some great, exciting news that’s going on in our country as well. So we’ll talk about some of that. here in just a moment. But remember, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to use force to implement it. And on the show, we focus on the issues and we’ll talk about the people pushing issues, but we’re working to stay out of this whole personality stuff. Because when you get over there and talk about personalities, name calling, all of that, then you lose sight of the issues, which that’s what a lot of people want us to do is get unfocused on the issues. And so that’s why we work really hard on the show. to stay focused on these issues. The show comes to you 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. The first hour is rebroadcast 1 to 2 in the afternoon. Second hour is rebroadcast 10 to 11 at night. And this is on all KLZ platforms. That’s KLZ 560 AM, KLZ 100.7 FM, the klz website the klz app within 24 hours the show’s posted on my website kimmonson.com with a written summary as well as the podcast and once that happens the podcast can all be heard on the streaming services such as spotify and itunes as well so let’s go ahead and get into uh some of the things that we do on a regular basis our word of the day is prodigal and it is an adjective and of course we know from the bible the prodigal son but it could be characterized by profuse or wasteful expenditure lavish number two recklessly a spin thrift or three yielding abundantly luxuriant often used with a for an example nature has been so prodigal of her bounty and that is a quote by h.t buckle that was their example so i thought now so who’s h.t buckle and he was born in 1821 he was died in 1862 so he’s pretty young he was an english historian he was the author of the unfinished history of civilization and a strong amateur chess player and he’s sometimes called the father of scientific history and he said this he said sir the slowness of genius is hard to bear but the slowness of mediocrity is insufferable And I thought that was super interesting with the Biden-Harris administration with really this, you saw it in the 90s, well, coming out of the 70s, where there was this question, what is truth? You have your truth. I have my truth. Well, we realized that that is very shaky ground. That is not a firm foundation. And firm foundation is real truth. And that’s why we seek that truth here. But it was this movement towards mediocrity, which was you saw that played out in CRT, critical race theory, instead of people being the best that they could be and being hired and recognized for that. There were excuses that were made. And then the excuses were that instead of the best being hired for jobs or awarded scholarships, remember back in the old days when people either paid for their college or they got scholarships because they worked hard? And then this whole idea of government loans from for college made college so expensive because it was this influx of money. And then kids took out these loans. Now they have these huge debts and they’re looking to others to pay that off. And there may be those that decided not to go to college, started working, paying taxes. Is it fair that they would pay for somebody else’s choices? I don’t think so. But that all comes out of this whole mediocrity. And again, this H.T. Buckle said, Sir, the slowness of genius is hard, but the slowness of mediocrity is insufferable. And so I see this new awakening of people being really gonna be required to start to really perform again. And what that does to the soul is so important. It brings value. So this is all very exciting of what is happening in our country. It’s scary in some ways, but it’s very exciting. And here in Colorado, we are at the tip of the spear, shedding light on all of these issues. And the show comes to you because of great sponsors. And thank you to the Harris family for their goal sponsorship of the show. It is because of all of these sponsors and all of you that we are this independent voice. And you see these independent voices are being gobbled up by either national media on talk radio, which that’s great, but we need to have all these different voices, or as well as we saw that Soros had purchased a bunch of radio stations. And so we’re a little bit of a unique animal here, and I’m pleased that we do that and pleased to partner with Crawford Broadcasting to make all that happen. Let’s see. Let’s get into some of these headlines. And the first one that I had pulled up here, let me get to this, is this is regarding the Super Bowl and this performer. And I don’t really know that much about her. I did see a headline. I think she was at the Grammys and had a very extravagant outfit on. I don’t know that much about her, although people have told me that she’s kind of nasty. And this is Cardi B, and she blames Trump for ruining her shoes at the Super Bowl and demands that he bring back her deported uncle. And apparently she went to the Super Bowl, but because of all of the security, you couldn’t get a cart to get really close to the Super Bowl. So she had to walk in her shoes. And because she had to walk in her shoes further than she had anticipated, apparently her very expensive shoes were damaged. And so she went into this – let’s see, the article was posted by – It looks like it was Fox News. And she went into this rant with all of this nasty language. And really, she said, basically, she was blaming Trump because he was at the Super Bowl. What an Americana thing for Trump to do, to go to the All-American game. And you saw what a Several years ago at the Super Bowl, you had players that were kneeling at the national anthem, not realizing that the national anthem represents all of these people that have put their lives on the line for this American idea and many people that have died for that. And the disrespect was astonishing. And so the fact that Trump would go to the Super Bowl and the I think the real patriotism that you saw was great. And so this is what the left is doing, though. They are bringing out all of these voices now to try to discredit what is happening with Trump, too. And so I thought that was super interesting. Then another one. This is just unbelievable. And that is apparently last week, FEMA dispersed or was going to disperse $56 million to New York just last week for migrant housing in four star hotels. And the Trump administration said, you know what, we’re not gonna do that. And this is pretty unbelievable. But but I think that that Trump and Musk, I was watching Musk was in the Oval Office yesterday talking about Doge and he said that we’re going to look for competency and caring. in these federal agencies and caring for the American people and that they were going to be totally transparent. And so you have 56 million here, 56 million there. Pretty soon you have a billion. Pretty soon you have a trillion. And I think that they’re going to get this out-of-control spending under control. And what this does for us as Americans, what this does for our next generations is is so important. So this is very exciting. They’re being very transparent. And of course, the left is really showing their their cards as Maxine Waters was having a little press conference regarding that they want to make sure that they basically the bottom line is they want to keep all this grift and graft and fraud and abuse of the American taxpayer going. And I think the American people are waking up. So we’ll continue to have these discussions and it happens because of our sponsors. And one of those great sponsors is the Roger Mangat State Farm Insurance team. I know each and every one of my sponsors personally and highly recommend each and every one of them. Roger’s been in business for 48 years. You’re not in business for 48 years unless you’re doing a really great job. So they may be able to help you save some money on your insurance. If you bundle everything together, you won’t know unless you sit down and talk with them. at a complimentary appointment. That number is 303-795-8855. Like a good neighbor, the Roger Mangan team is there.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So I switched my insurance to the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Agency. Get this, I actually talked to Roger Mangan, who has been helping people with their insurance coverage in our community for 47 years. He helped me create a State Farm personalized price insurance plan for my home and auto and explained affordable options. For personalized service and peace of mind that you are working with a team that cares about you and your family, call Roger Mangin now at 303-795-8855. Kim highly recommends the Roger Mangin State Farm Insurance Team. Again, that number is 303-795-8855.

You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. Something’s a good idea. You should not have to force people to do it. And this came in on the text line regarding this entertainer, Cardi B, blaming Trump for being at the Super Bowl and ruining her very expensive shoes because she couldn’t get as close to the Super Bowl because I guess they were, the Secret Service was really limiting the carts there at the time. Of course, this is what one of our listeners said, said, take walking shoes, then change into your show shoes. Duh, that’s what regular people do. Huh, of course, that makes a lot of sense. And somebody that makes a lot of sense, particularly when we’re at our Colorado Union of Taxpayer Board meetings, is my fellow board member, Steve Dorman, and he is here for our Wednesday Cut Update. Steve, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Good morning, Kim. Always great to be with you and the smartest listening audience in all of Denver.
Kim Monson (Host) :
You’re absolutely right. And see, before we get into this, I just want to say thank you to this team that we work with. These all volunteers. regarding the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. They’ve been, since 1976, looking at legislation and taking positions on legislation. Of course, we’re out of control down there at the Statehouse with the number of bills that are being proposed as of yesterday. I think it was, let me just check, Steve, and see how many bills as of this morning. 428 bills have been proposed down there, Steve. That is out of control. It is a bill mill down there, Steve Dorman.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
They just have an insatiable appetite for control and power. Their guiding principle is control and power. Let me say something about CUT itself. From time to time, people ask me about CUT and do we play favorites? And the answer is we play favorites to principals. We are a nonpartisan organization, and we have voted for and against issues from sponsors on both sides of the aisle. And our devotion is to the principals. So I wanted to get that out there.
Kim Monson (Host) :
It really is, and we really stay true to that. But yet we have important conversations on this. And our fellow board members are you, Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Rami Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, and Corey Onizorg. And very pleased to welcome Paula Beard and Ray Beard to the board as well. So it is a stellar group of people. It’s just amazing. And it only costs $25 to join CUT. You can go to coloradotaxpayer.org to join. That works out to $2.08 a month. And the amount of analysis that you get for $2.08 a month when you get our weekly email that also goes to legislators and the governor is remarkable. So please join us, coloradotaxpayer.org, and support us. Before we jump in, anything else you want to say about any of that, Steve?
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Yes, voting is a good thing, but it’s not quite enough. It’s important that citizens do something, and one of the things they can do is join CUT. Every special interest in the state has a lobbyist down there, and we are yours. So please join Colorado Union of Taxpayers.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay, absolutely. So we’ve got some bills that you and I selected yesterday from this week that’s being heard down at the State House that we want to talk about. The first one is House Bill 25-1027, Update Disease Control Statutes. The prime sponsors on this are all Democrats, Representative Lindsey Gilchrist, Representative Kyle Brown, Senator Lindsey Doherty. And this is a big danger, danger bill, I think, Steve Dorman.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
You know, one of the biggest disappointments when you see the title of it, you kind of get your attention thinking, okay, they’re going to fix something. And the biggest issue regarding disease control, they didn’t touch at all, and that was the overreach of authority that we saw during the last pandemic. The local officials and the governor, they way overstepped their boundaries and just trampled on individual liberty. So they didn’t touch that part of it at all. The other thing that we did not like about the bill, it’s Colorado has a rule that bills must be single subject. That makes sense. Well, this bill covers multiple subjects, including, you know, vaccinations and reporting, et cetera. It removes gendered language. Fine. Okay. They’ve got to cater to that crowd. Okay. But it just didn’t do anything about the abuse of authority, and it has the laughable use of a safety clause. So those were our reasons at cut for voting no on this particular bill.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Yeah, and one other thing, that it gave more power to the CDPHE, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. And that’s a bureaucracy. It’s not accountable to the people. So we are a no on that. And, again, that’s House Bill 25-1027. So the next one that you and I selected was House Bill 25-1062, Penalty for Theft of Firearms. The primary sponsors are Republican Representative Ryan Arbogast and then Democrats Representative Monica Duran and Senator Nick Hendrickson. And this is – we’re seeing a number of firearm bills there. Of course, the big one that people have been talking about is the Senate Bill 003. which is regarding the magazines on firearms. And that looks like that’s running into trouble, even though the Democrats are pushing that. But there’s also some of these sneaky ones. And we were mixed on this one. We were a yes on it, but we had a really interesting conversation at the cut board meeting the other night, Steve.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Yeah, and just giving your listeners a bit of insight into CUT itself. We don’t always agree among ourselves on principles, and we sometimes see competing principles. And we’ll make a decision, but it’s a narrow decision. And this was one of those, and here are the arguments. If you favor stiffer penalties for stealing a firearm, we understand that, public safety. But at the same time, why are we treating firearms different than stealing a stereo or a TV? It’s an inanimate object, and should there be tougher penalties for stealing a firearm? So we came down on the side of, yes, there should be, but perhaps an asterisk by it. That is to say that not all of the board members on CUT agree with our decision.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Yes. And as and it is important to be able to think about these things and converse about them. And so, yeah, I think you great gave a great synopsis on that. Let’s jump over here to the next one. And this is House Bill 25, 1133. Another firearm bill says requirements for sale of firearms ammunition. And the prime sponsors on this are all Democrats. That’s Representative Monica Duran, Representative Lindsey Gilchrist, and Senator Kyle Mullica. And I think it’s important, Steve, that people understand that really these many times these legislators are not – writing this legislation. They actually have staff that does that. But what happens is, is you see interested parties, such as trying to prevent law abiding citizens from keeping and bearing firearms, our Second Amendment rights, they’ll come in and they’ll kind of shop this legislation with different legislators. And then the the the specific party, they’ll say, okay, who wants to carry this? Or they’ll ask people to carry this. So you’re seeing a lot of that with these firearms bills, Steve Dorman.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Yeah, we are. And Kim, pardon me, I’m slightly confused. What is the bill number we’re discussing?
Kim Monson (Host) :
It was 1133. I think I had that on our list. Did I throw you a loop on that? Yeah, it says House Bill 1133. Requirements for sale of firearms ammunition.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Okay. You know, if the bill sponsors think that 18 to 20-year-olds are not responsible enough to use a firearm, then repeal their ability to purchase one or own one or possess one. They didn’t do that. They said you can buy the gun. You just can’t have any ammunition to go in it. Now, that’s just stupid.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, it is. And 18 to 20-year-olds, they serve us. They can join the military. They can put their lives on the line for us. But the fact that they, as you say, you can buy a firearm, but you can’t have ammunition. This is just another little teeny tiny thousand cut to try to prevent people from keeping and bearing firearms. And think about all these young people that want to do competition or sports competition. Just think about that or want to hunt. So, again, this is House Bill 25-11-33, and we’re a strong no on that particular bill, Steve Dorman.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
It’s just another grab at control, and it’s virtue signaling to their constituency that believes if you can keep firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, that somehow enhances public safety. And we would strongly disagree with that.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Yeah, only the bad guys will have firearms. So this next one, oh, go ahead. No, I was done. Okay. House Bill 25-1137, adopt a shelter pet account community cats. This is prime sponsors, Democrats Representative Mandy Lindsey, Representative Elizabeth Velasco, and Senator Faith Winter. You had fun with this one, Steve.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Don’t you know that our founding fathers had it in mind when they sacrificed their honor and their fortunes, et cetera, to protect feral cats? Now, again, their ability to manufacture issues is just off the charts. The bill says that we will have grant money that comes from – I forgot where – No expenditure to the state, it says, but they spend money for animal welfare organizations to trap feral cats and neuter them and tag them and release them back. And the stated purpose, it was ridiculous, to help expand the population of what they call community cats. We’re spending state time on this for cats, feral cats.
Kim Monson (Host) :
And that is something that interested parties, they can put their own money into that and take care of that problem. Next one, let’s get to House Bill 251140. We are a yes on this. The sponsors on this, this is bipartisan. It’s disclosing information to immigration authorities. And the sponsors are Representative Jarvis Caldwell and Senator Rod Pelton. and it’s concerning authorizing probation employees to disclose information to immigration authorities for certain individuals. We agreed with this one, Steve.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
We did. We had one small quibble. First of all, the bill allows a probation officer to notify… immigration authorities when one of their parolees has committed a significant violent offense, and that’s the key, significant violent offense, first and second degree murder, assault, a couple of other violent felonies, that the probation officer is authorized to notify immigration of this person and their whereabouts, et cetera, their contact information. It does have some safeguards for illegal immigrants in that it is reserved only for those violent offenders. They can’t just pick up the phone and call ICE for anybody they have in their portfolio of offenders to call ICE. It has to be one of those violent type of offenders. Our only quibble with the bill was kind of small, but it allows that probation officer to make that call. We would have preferred to see the probation officer required to make that call.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay, and then one other thing, because I normally will take your comment, all of our board comments, and then I’ll create that email, and I used a word. Words are so important, and I love the fact that, again, we have conversations about this, and I’d use the word infer, and I think that was in our 1062. No, 1133. No, it was 1133 regarding 18-year-olds. I said that, let’s see. see here, bill sponsors infer that 18 to 20 year olds are not responsible enough to keep and bear firearms. And you said, Kim, I don’t think you used the right word there. And I think you’re right.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
I had a high school English teacher, Paige Chamberlain in Tennessee, and he was big on these two words, not being interchangeable, infer and imply. And so infer, you can only do that when reading or listening. It is your understanding of what is being presented to you You can only imply when you are writing or speaking, and it is a point that you are trying to make.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So I had used the word infer. The correct word would have been imply on that. And Steve Dorman, I appreciate you. I’ve learned something every day. So thank you. So Steve Dorman, most informative. And again, we work with an amazing board at the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And then also you do work with Liberty Scorecard as well, which is another group, Sue Moore and your whole group there. And I really appreciate all the time that you give because you care about the people of Colorado.
SPEAKER 05 (Guest) :
Well, Kim, you set the pace for the rest of us to keep up with the issues before the public and the pursuit of liberty and individual rights, et cetera. Keep up your good work, Kim. Thank you for all you do.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Absolutely. And that’s Steve Dorman. Join us at coloradotaxpayer.org. We have these discussions because we have great sponsors. And for everything regarding residential real estate, reach out to Karen Levine.

You can email me at Kim at Kim Monson dot com as well. Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s not something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. I know that we’ve got that global warming going on right now. It’s one degree here in the metro area. And if you want to have more conversations about this whole climate thing, check out our website for aclimateconversation.com. The documentary is The Project of Walt Johnson. And it’s a great documentary just talking about these narratives out there. And we also have a great podcast series there as well. But I know it’s chilly out there, but something very special is happening down at the Center for American Values. And that is located in Pueblo. And tonight, Drew Dix, co-founder of the center, will be presenting on the Cold War. I guess that’s appropriate when the temperature is so cold here today. But he was stationed in Greenland for several years, and he’s going to talk about that. Greenland’s been in the news because Trump. has realized the strategic importance of Greenland. So if you want to attend tonight, be sure and let them know that you’re coming. I think they’re at close to capacity, but that website is AmericanValueCenter.org, AmericanValueCenter.org. And for a climate conversation, that is at ClimateConversation.com. And pleased to have on the line with me, Susan Kochevar. She’s an entrepreneur. She is the owner of of the 88 Drive-In Theater, which springs around the corner. She will open soon, but not today. Susan Kochevar, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
Yes, I don’t think we’d have too many people arrive this evening in freezing temperatures.
Kim Monson (Host) :
And isn’t it interesting how global warming became climate change when we had this influx of different temperatures because of weather? And, again, that’s why the climate conversation is so important. But, Susan, I wanted to get your read on – I’m calling it Trump 2 – and the speed of what things are happening. And you really have your ear to the ground on so many things that’s going on. So what’s your perspective? What do you think?
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
I’m sure like a lot of people, it’s been exhausting trying to keep up with all the news, although it’s been great. But I think we have in the first few days, first few weeks of the new administration been launched, like launched into a completely new era. You know, Trump has picked his people and they’re getting confirmed. And as each one hits the ground, they’re already ready to go. They are in front of the public. They are doing, you know, all sorts of videos, talking to people. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a vice president so active. J.D. Vance is all over the place doing press conferences and so are all the other nominees and being really effective.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, I don’t know quite where Kash Patel is right now, but I watched what PM Bondi did as Attorney General almost immediately, and I think the deep state on both sides of the aisle is terrified to confirm Kash Patel as the head of the FBI. Is that right? I can’t remember now.
SPEAKER 09 (Guest) :
Yes.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. I think they’re terrified to do that.
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
I think we’ll get two more nominees today. I hear JFK and Tulsi Gabbard, and they’re trying to wait until the end of the month for Kash Patel. What you notice is when these people, even before they were confirmed, of course, so Elon Musk and Doge, Department of Economic Efficiency, got busy. And the first thing they did was go right after USAID. which shook the deep state to its core. And when we say deep state, we’re talking about this massive bureaucracy, departments like the CIA, the FBI, all of these departments. It’s beginning to look like the CIA are the people who were running the USAID. And through all of those grants, they could hide that they were busy trying to overthrow the United States. That seems like that’s more information that’s going to be coming out today, especially if you follow a fellow called Mike Benz, B-E-N-Z, on X or some other platforms. Some of these people are, he’s been putting out all night, you know, I’m not suicidal, so we’re going to see some more things. But all these nominees have been firing on all cylinders, all at once, and they’re everywhere, and that has just shook the deep state to its core, and that has to be done. For their protection, it has to go quick. And, of course, now we’re seeing the judges try to step in and slow things down, and it only looks, I think, like Trump is not doing too much to interfere with those judges. I think that’s coming, possibly waiting for some more of his nominees to to be confirmed. And he also could be waiting for some more evidence to come out. I mean, the stuff we’re finding that Elon and Doge are discovering is staggering. Yesterday it came out that they can only retire 10,000 government employees a week because they were keeping the documents in a mine, like an actual salt mine, And they would have to go down to the bottom of the mine to work on the documents for the retirement with paper and pencil and bring them back up out of the mine when they’re finished. And that was really slowing things down. You know, yesterday when that came out, I was shocked. No, they’re kidding. It’s not a real mine. Yes, yes, that’s what they have been doing since about 1955. The things our government has been doing is just unbelievable. Unbelievable.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, and it is unbelievable. And I was just going through some headlines here. And, of course, FEMA is in the news now. And this is from the Western Journal. It says media blackout. Trump’s new FEMA has handled 80 percent of the cases in western North Carolina in just five days. Biden had had 116 116 days. But when we see all of the money. that has been going to not Americans, but to this agenda of those that want to tear down America. It’s pretty remarkable. And then even some of the media that was in the pockets of USAID. I think we’re going to have a look back. Susan, I was looking at this thing regarding FEMA and $56 million to New York last week for illegal immigrants in luxury hotels. Don’t I remember that there was a news story in New York that they kicked out homeless vets out of some of these places that they were housing them? So I did a quick search this morning, and yes, there was that news story. But then you saw news stories like from Newsweek saying, oh, no, that wasn’t true. I think we’re going to now have a look back and see how some of these different news outlets were pushing news stories to discredit some of the things that we had learned out there. And I think the look back is going to be really important, Susan.
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
Yes, it looks like that USAID was funding all the media outlets. And if that is indeed true, that was all a CIA front. There are government documents that Mike Benz has been putting out there that show this and talk about it, how to – how to take it over and what to do. And if it turns out that CIA has been funding all of the media outlets, pretty much all of the left, all of this crazy stuff going on in other countries, and just absolutely raiding our treasury, I think things are going to change pretty quick. One of the things I’m always interested in is how all of this is going to affect Colorado. And I know when I ran all three times, my opponents always had gobs of money in their war chest. And I know we can, you know, you just look at Colorado and all of the Democrat candidates. They are so well funded. Of course, they have things like Act Blue and a whole bunch of other things where they were funneling money to their candidates. But I think if USAID is the head and that gets cut off, they may not be able to fund their candidates very well, even for this next election. And that will certainly help Colorado elections. We also have got to get control of the election system before the next set of elections in Colorado. And I think if we can do that, I think we will see Colorado flip red. I do not think Colorado is blue or even purple. It looks like all of our opposition was completely funded by the funneling of money through USAID and all of those NGOs, non-governmental organizations.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, Colorado is at the tip of the spear of this. And so let’s talk about Colorado elections. And when you mentioned you that you had run, you had actually stepped forward three times to run for state house. And one of the times that you ran, there were ballots that disappeared for a week in a truck and then they magically appeared. These inflection, I don’t know if the right word, Steve Dorman will make sure that I use the right words. These vulnerabilities, I’ll use that word. We have got to get a handle on that here in Colorado because I think that we are the petri dish for all of this stuff that’s going on. So we’re going to continue the discussion with Susan Kochavar. And we have all these discussions because of our sponsors. And for anything mortgages, new mortgage, reverse mortgage, and… Second Mortgage, reach out to Loren Levy. He can help you in 49 of the 50 states, just not New York.
SPEAKER 16 (Advertisement) :

Thank you to all of you who support us. We’re an independent voice and we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. Do check out the website for the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation. that they are raising the money for the remodel of the Marine Memorial. And so make sure that you have in your giving for this year to give to the USMC Memorial Foundation. We will be recording part two with Bob Chica, who is a Marine who was… a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War by the North Koreans. He was on the USS Pueblo. And they were held for 11 months. And we recorded his first interview and broadcast that last Sunday on America’s Veteran Stories. Joe and I looked at each other. We said, there’s so much information here. And so we will be recording the second part today. That’ll broadcast this Sunday, 3 to 4 p.m., But he will be the keynote speaker for the Memorial Day event in May at the USMC Memorial Foundation. So that website’s usmcmemorialfoundation.org. And how I got to know him is he did an On Values presentation at the Center for American Values recently. That’s online at americanvaluecenter.org. On the line with me is Susan Kochevar. She is the entrepreneur, owner of 88 Drive-In Theater. And Susan, you and I both are very concerned about these elections here in Colorado. And my ear to the ground says Trump is going to do some things regarding trying to clean up these elections. But we have to step forward in each of our states to do something. And this just this was under the radar. But United Sovereign Americans sent this over yesterday. It’s a press release. And it says New York election deniers move a mountain, says in a stunning victory for New York citizens audits 2000 volunteers. The New York State Board of Elections is quietly auditing the election and state voter rolls. After four contentious years of hiding the truth revealed by NYCA’s extensive analysis, the Board of Elections has admitted that there is a massive problem. so susan this is and that was the first things that marley hornick co-founder of united sovereign americans had started to work on and then it morphed into something national and so the people of colorado that’s one of our lawsuits is with united sovereign americans saying that our elections in colorado are not meeting minimum standards and we’re one of nine states that those lawsuits were filed and it happened because people all here in colorado stepped forward to make that happen. So we’ve got those two lawsuits out there that are in the legal wrangling. I didn’t realize how long all that takes, but it’s good that we have those there. And then I’m working on new things for, I’m calling it Reclaim Colorado 2025 for our election, Susan.
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
Yeah, that’s a very good thing. I see also, you know, they’re not alone. There are a lot of people who are also working on the elections. Mike Lindell has not sat down either. And you also have Scott Pressler out there. And I see he’s been working in Pennsylvania to clean up the voter rolls too. And they’re finding people registered in more than one state and where they receive letters that said it’s okay to vote in more than one state. So he’s been registering people in Pennsylvania and going through those voter rolls. And the next state he’s moving to is New Jersey. So every state that gets through United Sovereign Americans or through Scott Pressler or any other organization, every state that gets cleaned up will help a lot. I know Scott Pressler is also working to get people to vote no on some of the judges in Pennsylvania. Every state’s important. And every state actually, in this regard, affects every other state in our ability to free ourselves because we’ve got to get, you know, our elections sorted out and we’ve got to get our judges sorted out. Um, Colorado is in a really big mess there because of our judges and especially our state Supreme court. And, um, it’s going to take getting our elections sorted out to, I think, um, vote no on judges and replace them, uh, including our governor and, and on down. But, um, It’s such critical work.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, it really is. And this is from one of our listeners. She said, I do think that the American taxpayer has been paying for our own demise, unfortunately. My guess is that there are other organizations similar to USAID that are also funneling money to Democrat political operatives to support their campaigns. It’s very exciting to see what’s being uncovered. And have you did you see some of these press conferences? There was one yesterday with the Democrats, Maxine Waters and company. And of course, they’re having to use expletives because when they can’t really engage in the battle of ideas, that’s one of the things that they do. And so they’re trying to be really loud. and take the attention off of what Elon Musk with the Doge, the Department of Government Efficiency, what they’re finding. So they’re trying to be really loud to tear all this down. What do you think about that, Susan Kochvar?
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
At this point, it almost seems like that’s all they have. And I really agree with the person who sent that message because they are trying to keep those out of every department. The Department of Education, you saw them march to the doors there and demand entry, you know, and with saying, do you know who we are? And, you know, you’re acting like we’re a bunch of terrorists. Well, one branch of government cannot march into the other branch of government. The president cannot march into Congress directly. to make a speech, he’s got to be invited in the same thing with Congress into any of the executive branch offices, which the Department of Education is one of them. And I find it just hilarious that Maxine Waters was saying, you think we’re a bunch of terrorists. Yes, ma’am. For the last few years, you’ve been demanding that people get in other people’s faces and fight in the streets. Yes, ma’am. I do think you behave like a terrorist. So outrageous behavior out of these people. They don’t seem, outside of the judges, they don’t really seem to know what to do, which is why I think we have been launched, why I say we’ve been launched into a completely different paradigm, and we’re not going back. I don’t think they’re going to win. I think it’s going to be, there’s going to be a lot more to come out, but you know, Trump is on a mission. They try to kill him. They try to bankrupt him. They try to put him in prison. He knows the stakes. They will come after him and the American people again if he lets up. So I think that he’s giving them enough of the proverbial rope. And I think at the appropriate time, they’ll step in and either push this stuff, these rogue judges that are trying to stop him to the Supreme Court or just ignore what they’re doing because they are definitely out of their lane. They don’t have the jurisdiction in some of these areas that they’re trying to push forward. And the other thing in watching all this stuff, if you look at TikTok, you will see Americans and India X and other places, but Americans are really getting angry. And we see all this stuff. It’s been a great relief and a lot of fun to watch all these people be put on their back foot. But the American people still have not had any tax relief, have we? We are still, you know, struggling day to day. And I think they better stop fooling around because the anger is building.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, and I really do think getting a handle, clawing back this money that has been going to these, I call them PBIs, those politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties. They’re not creating anything. They are just taking things. And the fact that it’s coming out that it’s not just been the graft and the fraud and the abuse, but then that this money is also being used to try to take down America. So, Susan Kochavar, time goes so quickly. We’ve got a minute left. How would you like to wrap this up?
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
Well, it’s going to be interesting to watch to see what happens. And I think Elon Musk is going to press forward. I see he’s looking into how some of these members of Congress got so wealthy. So stay tuned. It’s going to get better, but I think it’s going to take just a little bit longer.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Yes. And so we are in a third founding of our country. It is an exciting and historic time. And the historic 88 Drive-In Theater will open when, do you think?
SPEAKER 13 (Guest) :
Spring, April or May, I will say the pictures this year look fantastic. It’s going to be a great summer.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Ah, that’s so awesome. And again, that’s Susan Kochevar, entrepreneur, owner of 88 Drive-In Theater and a great sponsor of the show. So Susan, great. We will talk to you very soon. In fact, you and I are going to get to spend some time together here very soon. So looking forward to it. Me too. Okay. And our quote for the end of the show is from H.T. Buckle. And I thought this was amazing. He said, in 1776, the Americans laid before Europe that noble declaration, which ought to be hung up in the nursery of every king and blazoned on the porch of every royal palace. So today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you, God bless America, and stay tuned for hour number two.

Indeed, let’s have a conversation and welcome to our number two of the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for listening. You’re each treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today, strive for excellence, take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Wednesday, Producer Joe. Happy Wednesday, Kim. And we’re down another degree. It was one degree in our number one. It’s zero now in our number two. And how’s that global warming working out for you, Producer Joe? Not so well. It’s a little cold out there. Maybe it is cold outside. And so that’s why it’s important to understand how this whole narrative of climate has been used to weaponize. It’s used to weaponize us to try to change our lives. And so check out the documentary at climateconversation.com. It’s a project of Walt Johnson. Documentary is there. You can watch it for free. It has been broadcasting on Newsmax periodically, but we also have a great podcast series there. So be sure and check that out. climateconversation.com because when it realized that it does get cold outside they changed the narrative from global warming to climate change and then been using that narrative to really push a lot of green going into the pockets of PBIs those politicians bureaucrats and interested parties Let’s see. Check out the website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. And I think I said that. And let’s see here. Sign up for our weekly email newsletter. And the show comes to you 6 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. The first hour is rebroadcast 1 to 2 in the afternoon. Second hour, 10 to 11 at night on all KLZ platforms. That’s KLZ 560 AM, 100.7 FM, the KLZ website and the KLZ app. And we search for truth and clarity online. on these issues, looking at them through this lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. Our word of the day is prodigal. It’s spelled P-R-O-D-I-G-A-L. It’s an adjective. It could be number one, characterized by profuse or wasteful expenditure, which is what the prodigal son did in the Bible, asked for his inheritance and then just went out and spent it on recklessly, which is that’s the number two definition, recklessly spendthrift. Or number three, it could be yielding abundantly and luxuriant. So this was a sentence they had. Nature has been so prodigal of her bounty. And that was from H.T. Buckle. And I thought, well, who is H.T. Buckle? Because I thought that was an interesting quote. And so he is our quote of the day. And he was born in 1821 and he died in 1862. He was an English historian. the author of an unfinished history of civilization he was a strong amateur chess-player and he is sometimes called the father of scientific history and he said sir the slowness of genius is hard to bear but the slowness of mediocrity is insufferable And my we have been in this mediocrity for a number of years and it is insufferable. And all of a sudden with Trump, too, when he’s talking about making America great again, I’m seeing people get excited again about going after their hopes and dreams. And so that is the quote of the day. A couple of things I wanted to mention. Steve Dorman, a fellow CUT board member, we had gone over some of the different pieces of legislation that are down at the Statehouse this week in hearing. This House Bill 25-1133, Requirements for Sale of Firearms. And it says the sponsors on this, all Democrats, Representative Monica Duran, Representative Lindsey Gilchrist, and Senator Kyle Mullica. It says the bill requires that ammunition sold at retail must be accessible to a purchaser or transferee only with the assistance of the vendor. And the bill prohibits the retail sale of ammunition to a person who is younger than 21 years of age. What about all these young kids that want to learn how to do competitive shooting sports? What about all that? But one of our listeners said, if 18-year-olds or if people less than 21 years of age can’t by ammunition, then they shouldn’t be able to vote either. And I thought, wow, that is a very excellent point. And so, yeah, just ruminate on that today. It is Wednesday. And normally, unless the Federal Reserve meets regarding interest rates, we get to talk with Loren Levy. And he is a mortgage specialist. He can help you in 49 of the 50 states, just not New York. And so the Fed is not meeting. So we’ve got Lauren Levy on the line. Lauren, welcome to the show.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Hey, good morning, Kim.
Kim Monson (Host) :
I thought I just saw something come across regarding inflation. Let’s see. OK, so it says it jumped up just a little bit. So what what’s your ear to the ground say about that, Lauren Levy?
Kim Monson (Host) :
Um, I say that as far as mortgage rates go, it’s a, uh, not a great morning. Um, you know, we, we get these monthly readings on, uh, all these price indexes. And today’s one of the ones that it causes the most action. It’s the consumer price index. It’s the one that gives you, uh, the broadest read of inflation. Um, it’s really two components. One is what they call, uh, the CPI. And then they have core, which takes away food and energy. And they both went up, uh, on an annual basis now, it looks like they’re higher by 3.3%. In just a month, it went up almost 0.5%, which is higher than what was expected. We’ve been talking about for the longest time that the Fed’s trying to get inflation to an annual rate of 2.0. So this was a reading annualized of 3.3, and the Fed was expecting around a 3. So anytime it’s higher, that causes that that read of the 10-year note that we talked about that affects mortgage rates to jump. So the 10-year note jumped about 10 basis points just in the last half hour, which that’ll, you know, at least temporarily for today, that’ll cause mortgage rates to creep up again just a little bit.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. So with everything with Trump too, his second administration, with everything that’s going on, in fact, I saw that some of the Democrats were blaming President Trump that he has not brought down inflation, although he’s only been in office for a little over three weeks. What’s your comments on that, Lorne?
Kim Monson (Host) :
My comments are that there’s some things that People want to see happen, but just can’t happen by just words. For example, President Trump, no matter what he’s trying to do, does not control the Fed. So if he says, I demand that they lower rates, well, they don’t have to do that. They’re supposed to be independent. You and I have talked about that for years. And so they’re supposed to be using data and news. But there’s a little bit of a tug in a pole between tariffs and prices. And I totally understand what Trump’s trying to do with tariffs. But there’s a fear that if you put tariffs out there, that those prices won’t just be absorbed by the countries that were putting tariffs on it. It’ll come through in prices to the consumer, which that’s inflation of itself. Um, so it’s a balancing act between monetary policy and then you have Congress, what they do as far as, you know, printing money and putting money out there and, um, in tariffs. And it’s, it’s been interesting. It hasn’t been long enough for Trump to do anything about getting prices down. They don’t move overnight, you know?
Kim Monson (Host) :
Right. And so this is going to be probably a little messy, I think, right now. What’s your thoughts about Doge and this USAID, all of this tax money that’s been used for things that really I think are not appropriate? What’s your thoughts on that, Lorne Levy?
Kim Monson (Host) :
I’ve been saying even just at home with my family and some people I know that we all know there’s tons of waste in the government. I’m surprised they haven’t looked at Medicare and just fraud in that area. You know, there’s so much waste that anything you can do to tighten that up and put it back at the treasury and not blow money will help. It’ll help with wasteful spending, which as we print more and more money, that creates inflation in and of itself. So that will help. It just takes time. You don’t just take a bunch of money out of the out of the economy and you know overnight and it doesn’t have a reaction overnight everything takes time so um you know the fed raised rates over a couple years and rates dropped after covet over a couple years so it’s not an instantaneous move and i think we’ll see things hopefully inflation will calm down once these things take effect but we need time
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. Well, and so some patience would be a good thing. Patience, they say, is a virtue. So Lauren Levy, thank you. I always learn so much in these weekly updates and when you’re on the show as well. What’s the best way for people to reach you if they have any questions regarding, well, a reverse mortgage? I’m sure that seniors are getting a little squeezed right now. And so the presentation tonight is the real Cold War, and of course you’ll be able to attend on a real cool night because we’ve got that global warming going on in Colorado right now. It’s zero degrees outside and I wonder what the temperature is wherever sixth generation farmer and rancher Trent Luce is. Trent, welcome to the show.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
It is zero, about the same as you have and I’m guessing we’re close to half a foot, six inches of snow since yesterday and I’m fantastic, Kim. Thanks for having me.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, that’s awesome. And farmers and ranchers do like to have moisture. And the snow in this high plains desert is so important. So snow is always a good thing to have. So first of all, what have you been doing the last week? What’s going on in your life?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Actually, when I got home last week from Rapid City, I haven’t gone on any trips. I was supposed to go to Ransom, Kansas today for a meeting that I do annually, but I’m going to guess that’s about a 50-50 whether I’ll get down into your old stomping grounds. I did Monday go to Lincoln, Nebraska, walked through our state capitol, paid attention to some of the committee discussions that occurred yesterday and Some of those are troubling. And there are other awakening things that have come to fruition. And I did acquire a lot of new information on avian influenza. So I just continue to look at those challenges that we have in front of us as it involves food and fuel.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So speaking of avian influenza and the killing of millions and millions of chickens, my understanding is there’s rationing of eggs at some places here in Colorado. If you can get eggs, they’re very expensive. You and I have been on this egg thing. For a number of years, we were concerned about the legislation passed here in Colorado and in California regarding dictating cage-free chickens, what that was going to do to the price of eggs, which that’s a contributing factor. And then, of course, killing healthy birds is another contributing factor. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that government… And intervention is really affecting our fuel source, the great protein-providing eggs in our diets. And they’re working to really limit our food supply. And it’s playing out now. People are starting to pay attention.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
So I got some interesting developments in that arena. We’ve had four positive cases. chicken flocks, two of those backyard chickens, two of those commercial flocks in the past 30 days in Nebraska. So my best meeting that occurred this week in Lincoln, our state capital, was talking about how this all takes place. You and I have talked about 150 million birds since October of 2022. that have been euthanized, and we should say euthanized or part of the death, the mortality from H5N1. It is apparent now that there is a high percentage of these birds that are dying. It’s estimated from the data that I’ve been able to put together that about 70% die by the time of the chickens or poultry, we should say, that just die from H5N1 from the time that they initially send in the first PCR test until they get the ELISA test back from the USDA lab. But there’s still zero emphasis on natural selection on birds that have the ability to withstand this disease. So there’s a few things that have kind of developed in that realm. But what is most interesting about this whole scenario, Kim, it plays right into what you just said. If you look at the 150 million birds, now that does include turkeys. It includes a few ducks, but mostly it’s chickens. There are still more broiler chickens that have tested positive. And for those that may not know, broiler chicken is what we call a chicken that is produced for The chicken that you consume and the layers are the chickens that are laying eggs. There have been more flocks destroyed that are broiler flocks than there are egg-laying flocks. The price of chicken in the retail outlets and even gas stations has really not moved at all. It’s the same as it was six months ago or a year ago. But as you indicated, there is rationing. And I even got a note from a friend of mine at Ray, Colorado this week, $11.50 for a dozen of eggs. So why if there are more, and by the way, it’s reported that our chickens are now laying on average 300 eggs per hen per year. It was a 280, but as we continue to improve environments, but is there a law of diminishing returns? as we now have 10 states that have forced farmers to use cage-free facilities, which we know increases mortality. But still now, the question that I’m asking, which I have no idea what the answer is, why has the price of chicken itself not changed when there have been more chickens destroyed for avian influenza than laying hens, and the laying hens are being rationed and prices are through the roof across the board all throughout the nation?
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, I don’t know the answer to that, but the first thing to do is to ask the question. But I want to get some clarification on something. So you said 70% of the birds that contracted the H5N1 bird flu influenza, that they end up dying. Did I hear that correctly?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
That’s correct. And that death is taking place immediately. Once the farm identifies they have some sick birds, they contact the veterinarian. The veterinarian contacts the State Department of Agriculture or the state vet. And then what happens is that they do a PCR test, which is a 24-hour test. And we know that they’re not always reliable. So if you take that PCR test, if there’s a positive from the PCR, then you go ahead and you submit a sample to the USDA lab. In this case, it’s Ames, Iowa. for an ELISA test, which takes longer, and it can take up to five days to get the result. And the numbers that I acquired this week is that from the time they first positive PCR until they get the numbers back from the USDA lab, and this is going to be variable, Kim, but I’m giving you what the estimates are from the people who are on the ground dealing with this now, that about 70% of the birds have died.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay, so let’s say Farmer has his flock, and 70% of the birds that contract the flu or test positive for that, they die. But that’s not 70% of the complete flock, is it, or is it?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Yes.
Kim Monson (Host) :
It is. So Farmer, if he gets it into his flock, 70% of his birds are going to die.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
I want to be clear. That is what the mortality is from the time the first positive is diagnosed until they get the confirmation of the second test with the ELISA test from the USDA. And then they come in and kill the rest.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Right. So they kill the other 30% that may have natural immunity.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Correct.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Yes? Correct. Okay. So that is actually more extensive within a flock than I realized. But still, the idea to kill the 30% of healthy birds… It seems like, and Susan Kojavar has said, it seems like you would want to not, and I’m paraphrasing the way I understood what she said, is you wouldn’t want to kill the ones with the natural immunity because those are the ones that you would want to continue to be part of this so that we would create natural immunity within these flocks. Your thoughts on that?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
I agree with that 100%. But here’s another… complication to this whole scenario. They continue to blame migratory wild birds for spreading H5N1 to domestic birds, and they blame that for spreading to dairy cows, which, by the way, again, the number 70% comes up. 70% of all positive dairy herds have been in the state of California. There have been 970 dairy herds test positive, 780 80 of those are in the state of California. All of the strains of the dairy cows go back to the original dairy cow that tested positive in Texas. In the bird population, there are different variants within H5N1, and we talked about that a little bit last week. But they still say that wild birds and migratory patterns are distributing this H5N1 And if that were the case, and if it was that deadly, as they’re telling us that happens from the farm, why aren’t the wild bird populations completely destroyed?
Kim Monson (Host) :
That is a real question. It seems like we would have dead birds.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
You answered the question. Because the USDA is not intervening, and in the wild population— They’re doing exactly what you just described, where the birds who have the ability to develop immunity and survive this virus are the ones that may be spreading it, but they’re still living. So the wild bird population is doing its own sorting because the USDA is not screwing it up.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So two things on this. Again, this is real naive, but it seems like I’m not seeing a reduction in the goose population. Are geese, can they get this H5N1 as well?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Yes. In fact, in last week, there were geese test positive in the state of North Dakota.
Kim Monson (Host) :
But I’m not seeing any dead geese around. In fact, I’m seeing a lot of geese around. Something’s not jiving with this whole thing.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
I agree with you 100%.
Kim Monson (Host) :
And if they were so concerned about it, it seems like that they would increase hunting licenses for these birds, right? If you’re going to call the domestic population, it seems like you would try to call the wild population as well, right?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Yeah, I can tell you right now that’s never going to happen with our government. Beyond anything, there may be a practical solution. Our government’s not into practical solutions.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Fascinating. I have some more questions about this, Trent Luce, because this is really affecting people. Eggs has been an affordable protein source for families for so many years, and I’m still struggling with the 70% number, what that means exactly. So we’re going to continue the discussion with Trent Luce on this. And we have these important discussions because of our sponsors. And for a great protein source in your diet, it is a premium product, but it really is the steakhouse experience at home. And that is Lavaca Meat Company. They are located on the corner of Main and Nevada in Old Littleton.
Producer Joe (Host) :
Lavaca Meat Company takes great pride in selling only the best. Lavaca Meat Company is a third generation family owned business with its roots in Eastern Colorado. Many individuals are concerned about the dangers of highly processed foods. So a product that is 100% wholesome makes sense. Lavaca Meat Company’s only preservative is a freezer. Wrapped in cryovac packaging, Lavaca has a very high food safety process. Lavaca is located at the corner of Main and Nevada in Old Littleton. For a steakhouse experience at home, visit Lavaca in person or shop online at lavacameat.com. Lavaca Meat Company, only the best. Again, that’s lavacameat.com.

USMCMemorialFoundation.org. Trent Luce is on the line, sixth generation farmer and rancher. Trent, the wheels in my brain are really… They’re moving around here on this whole egg thing. And this is really, really important. My dad, farmer, had said, if you can control the food source, you can control the people. And that surely seems to me like what’s happening with this whole egg thing. Now, one of our listeners said that or implied these PCR tests. Could there be – I’m just asking this question. I know this is kind of doo-doo-doo-doo, but could there be something in those tests that would poison the birds more? Is that out there to ask that question?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
No, I don’t believe that in any way, shape, or form.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
But I do want – along those lines, there’s more grease that needs to be applied to your wheels spinning.
SPEAKER 10 (Advertisement) :
Okay.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
In the 50s, post-World War II, we started confining birds because before World War II, everybody had a backyard flock. I mean, even myself, I’m born in 1966. When I was born, we had 300 chickens. My grandfather and I would go with my grandfather to town. We would peddle eggs. I mean, that was the way. And in the 50s and early 60s, the poultry industry, both layers and broilers, started exploding and they started growing. And the USDA suggested, I can go find the actual USDA pamphlet, that said, in order to protect your investment with your chickens, we suggest you build barns and put them inside to protect them from the wild population of birds. So the USDA actually said, please confine your birds to help protect them. So that should then bring us to 2025, and we ask the question, okay, it kind of makes sense that there is a risk to a backyard flock where they’re outside. If there’s migratory fowl, they have the ability to come in contact with droppings, whatever the case may be, because it’s very clearly designated the transfer of from wild population to domestic birds is through two things, saliva or feces. How does saliva or feces from a goose flying over your place get inside your chicken barn?
SPEAKER 09 (Guest) :
Hmm.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
I can hear the grease being applied to those wheels as we speak. I mean, it just doesn’t make sense. You can theoretically, and for the record, two of the positives in Nebraska that I’m talking about that were the backyard flocks were in Kearney County. And people may not know Kearney County. And it’s Kearney, Nebraska is not in Kearney County, but it’s right next to Kearney County. And Kearney County is the, it’s the major flyway for the Sandhills cranes because that’s where, for whatever reason, why that migratory bird crosses the Platte River right there. It’s very interesting if you look at the hourglass shape where they come and cross the Platte and then fan out again. But that explains at some level how the birds that are exposed, like the chickens that my in-laws have, you know, they’re out running around all day. So there is a chance, although it seems to be very rare, but these chickens and turkeys in barns that are getting exposure through migratory fowl, I’m not buying it yet, to be honest.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, it just seems, and I want to go to one other subject, and I know that people are going to be calling in in the last segment, 303-477-5600. That’s 303-477-5600. So… First of all, it seems like if you have this big percentage of chickens that are dying because of H5N1, and they’re also saying it’s in the migratory bird population, it just seems to me like we should be seeing dead birds everywhere. Correct.
SPEAKER 09 (Guest) :
And we’re not.
Kim Monson (Host) :
We’re not. I’m not. So something’s not matching up to me here on this, Trent Luce. It’s just not matching up to me. And in killing 150 million chickens, even if the 70%, let’s say that they had H5N1, But that means they kill 45 million healthy birds as well. Well, again, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that’s going to mess up our food supply, make things more expensive. And as producer Joe has said, because we’ve got this bill here in Colorado to try to prevent price fixing at grocery stores. Of course, grocery stores are on such small margins anyway. But so so what if they fix the price of bread at X? If you go to the store and there’s no bread, it doesn’t matter. And so this is this messing around with our food supply is getting serious and people are recognizing it.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
I hope that recognition ramps up very quickly because that’s exactly what’s taking place and it’s getting worse, not better.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. Let’s change gears because, and again, love to have you guys weigh in at 303-477-5600. But I received some information from Virginia Maka, who’s going to be on the show next week. You know her. And she’s all over these transmission corridors. And this, it’s NIETC, the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor. And they’re looking to do a big land grab here in southeast Colorado. And Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has sent a letter to the Secretary of Energy asking him to take a look at all this. So what’s your ear to the ground say about all of this, Trent Luce?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Well, the only thing that Congresswoman Boebert said that we need to point out in there that’s not quite accurate is she included the panhandle of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma governor, Kevin Stitt, actually said there will be no transmission lines in Oklahoma, as did Kansas. Colorado, we have not gotten that designation yet, and there are still plans to go up through Nebraska and South Dakota and North Dakota. for this NITC line. And if you read Lauren Boebert’s article, or it was her press release, along with the letter that she sent to Chris Wright, you agree with everything that’s in there.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. And so that’s good that we’re getting some light shed on this. And this would affect Baca, Kiowa, and Prowers counties, correct?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Correct.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So what are they trying to do?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
A high number of correspondence from folks in those counties trying to figure out what to do.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay, and any decisions on that, Trent?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Well, the answer is always the same. It is you cannot be the lone wolf fighting these issues. You need to have community meetings. You need to bring people together. I shared with you a couple of weeks ago what success stories had been taking place in Washington County, Colorado. And that’s at Akron, and that’s because people said we’re not going to sit back and just allow these things to happen. We’re going to show up in force. That’s the only avenue. I know everybody wants a recipe on what to do A, B, C, and D, and then sift it and do whatever you do to bake a cake. It’s not like that. You just simply have to show up in force and be loud and make sure that your presence is felt by everyone.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. Well, this is good that she is recognizing this because this was somewhat under the radar, and it’s called NHTSA, these power lines. So are they trying to go around Oklahoma and Colorado, or excuse me, Oklahoma and Kansas, come up through Colorado and then into Nebraska and on up into the Dakotas? Is that what they’re proposing now, or what does that look like?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
So it’s all convoluted. Because if you have not seen the original map, it actually starts in Indiana. And there’s a transmission corridor that goes through Indiana, Illinois, through the northern part of Missouri, and then slips down into Kansas. And then there’s another one that comes through the center part of Oklahoma and basically goes straight west and comes over into southeast and southern, south-central Colorado. And then there’s a proposed bit, and this is just what the map that came out that had all of this proposed from the Department of Energy. It goes halfway up the eastern plains of Colorado, then stops. And then you get up into the center part of western Nebraska, it picks up again. And then it goes through the Black Hills and up into North Dakota. That’s the proposed map. Now, The person who I know in Nebraska, who actually is the lobbying entity for Nebraska Public Power, he said he doesn’t even understand this because the Department of Energy has zero authority to design and build and construct a powers corridor such as this one. So at some level, there’s something else going on here. It’s kind of like the same situation as our avian influenza. There’s something else going on in that I mean, there are places in this southeast Colorado area where they’re talking about conservation easement or an easement for this power line at 18 plus miles wide. That’s unheard of. Nobody’s ever heard of anything like that. I actually was talking to a guy last week in South Dakota at the Black Hills Stock Show where I was. He had retired from a company that built transmission lines. I told him about this proposal. He said, oh, that’s nuts. There’s no way. I got the map out on my phone. I said, well, here’s the map right here. He said, that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen put forth. He said, and I just retired from this business of building transmission lines. So what’s the real story? What’s really going on? And notice that I said Congresswoman Boebert said all of the right things. I don’t know that anybody in D.C. will do the right thing anymore.
Kim Monson (Host) :

Trent Luce is on the line, 6th Generation Farmer and Rancher. You can text me at 720-605-0647. And, Trent, on these corridors, two of our listeners texted in and said, are these going to be transmission lines to nowhere? What would you say to that?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Yes. My quick answer is yes. The excuse they’re giving is that we need to increase our transmission corridor standpoint because of the wind and solar development. The truth of the matter is we had an infrastructure in place to generate electricity from coal, which we have a thousand years worth of coal left. We are not using those infrastructures and then want to build a new land grabbing infrastructure. So it’s not too hard for me to do the math.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So the next thing is, explain this on these, there would be easements for these transmission lines, 18 miles wide, which in essence, with those easements, they might use eminent domain, which would mean that the farmers and ranchers that own that land would not be able, they would not really be in control of their land, right?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
100% correct. Okay.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So that’s what this is all about, isn’t it?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
It is. It’s another land grab, which is what Congresswoman Boebert had in the title of her piece that she wrote, which was, again, said the exact right thing.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. So… And so Chris Wright has just recently been confirmed as the Secretary of Energy. It’s great that she has sent this letter to him on this. And so anything on your ear to the ground on what’s going to happen on this?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
No. I’m just going to say the same thing. Do not sit back and expect the efforts of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert or anybody else or Chris Wright to be the solution. The solution is going to be what are you doing in your county to generate more attention and get more people standing up to say, no, you’re not going to steal this land from us in our county.
Kim Monson (Host) :
So there’s really two things that I think are occurring here, is really the sealing of the land by taking control of the land. You may still have the deed to the land, but you don’t have control of your land. An 18-mile corridor. That is really unbelievable. But who’s going to be building these transmission lines? Well, then I think that goes back to the whole green and the Green New Deal, because there will be people that will be paid to build these transmission lines to nowhere. lining their pockets, costing, again, the taxpayer, hardworking Americans and our children because of borrowing money to pay for all this. It’s quite a grand scheme if you really look at it, Trent Luce.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
And it appears in Colorado there’s a wide variable on how wide the easements are. I’ve heard of 18 miles. I’ve heard of others at six. So I don’t know what’s determining all of that. I don’t have a handle on it. But I want to just add one other thing. You mentioned that you still have the title or the deed to this property, but you don’t have the decision-making authority. Plus, you still get to pay property tax on land. You can’t decide what you’re doing with.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Wow. And you and I both are looking at this whole property tax thing. What would happen if we got rid of property tax and income tax? What do you think would happen? Because there’s talks that we really need to do that. What do you think about that?
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Well, I’m 100% for that. But at the same time, where do those monies go? Well, property tax goes to fund schools. And so how are we going to fund schools? And at the end of the day, therein lies the problem. If you look at what schools are spending on the education that they’re giving to kids, that whole restructure needs to happen right now. We can’t wait. We have a group of kids coming through. that are not prepared to go into the workforce, are not prepared to even go on to a secondary education, and they’re paying more money than ever directly from the property tax coffers to get this poor education. It needs a restructure from the get-go.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Well, Trump is talking about reducing significantly the money that’s going to the Department of Education, the amount of money that’s been going to education, as you’ve said. And our kids don’t have the basics. Many of our children do not have the basic skills to read and write and do arithmetic. It is a travesty. It seems like the amount of money that’s being taken from everyday hardworking Americans is And there’s significant and there’s been a lot of fraud and graft and grift and a whole bunch of things. And if we can get that stopped, we’re going to get a long way towards getting getting America, I think, back on the right track. Trent Luce.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
OK, but don’t don’t be confused. No money that goes into the Federal Department of Education plays a role in educating your kid at the local level that is funded by by the taxpayers of the school district and the property taxes. What the money into the Department of Education goes to is to create this curriculum which is adverse to everything that these kids need to be learning. But directly, the money directly into the U.S. Department of Education does not come in and make your school work better or worse. That money does not come there. That is funded by your property tax at the local level.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Okay. So let’s ruminate on that. We’ve got Jim May on the line. You know him, cattleman with Lavaca Meat Company. Jim, what’s on your radar?
SPEAKER 07 (Guest) :
Hey, good morning, Kim and Trent. I’m really enjoying your show this morning, Trent. And I wanted to say a couple things about the egg-free deal right quick. I belong to the Alliance, my brothers and I, which is a group of about 20% of the industry, which is very, very large cattle feeders. And we had a meeting, oh, it’s been a few years ago now, but we had all the retailers there, all the packers there, like we had Costco and all the fast foods and all the Kroger and everybody. And they started telling us that there were going to be by 28 or 30 of all restaurants and everyone was going to just serve cage-free eggs only. And I got the floor, and I said, you know, I said, because I’m not going to throw rocks at cage-free eggs because we get ours from Uncle Marvin up there at Ray, and they’re real good. They’re bright yellow, and they’re good. But we all have to recognize that the cost to, you know, you’ve got predators. Instead of the egg falling on a belt and going into the factory, you’ve got to go Easter egg hunting every morning. And all the things that have to happen makes these eggs cost a lot more. And so my only thing about it as an American is, you know, if you want a H-free egg, God help you, you’ll get them. They’re good. But we deserve the right to have that choice and for the whole industry to say they’re all going to be this, and now we’re confronted with these high prices due to the birth flu and all those things. But, you know, if you can buy a, you know, if the egg’s going to cost a dollar apiece and you can buy a conventional egg for 50 cents, I think some people should have that option. And so that was my biggest point that I wanted to make this morning. And I really enjoy your show, Trent. You’re a wealth of information.
Kim Monson (Host) :
Wow. And Jim May, you are spot on. It comes down to freedom versus force. And the idea that there’s this force on these cage free eggs or cage free hens increasing the price of eggs, which then means that it’s taking away the option, the choice for people to buy a more affordable egg so that they can feed their family. Jim May is spot on. Trent, we’ve got a minute left. Your final thought on all this.
Trent Loos (Guest) :
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just about the chicken and the egg. You know, Jim’s paying attention to what’s going on in the chicken and the egg because this is an attack on animal protein, period. If you look at what Kim’s father said and was spot on, when you control food, you control people. And it’s not about controlling Twinkies. It’s about controlling the most nutrient-dense food substance that we have. and that is animal proteins and fat, and we need to pay attention to all of these issues because before long, our back will be against the wall, and then you’re going to say, what do I do now? Don’t get to that point.
Kim Monson (Host) :
And that’s why our independent voices are so important, Trent Luce. So thank you, and a lot for us to, I like the word, ruminate on today. Have a great week. We’ll talk to you next week. And great to hear from Jim May as well. He understands this whole freedom versus force issue. We are in the third founding of our country. It is exciting. People are stepping forward. And I love this quote from H.T. Buckle. He said, In 1776, the Americans laid before Europe that noble declaration. which ought to be hung up in the nursery of every king emblazoned on the porch of every royal palace. So today, my friends, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you, and God bless America.
