8-25-2024: Naysayers Regarding Hiroshima and Nagasaki- Bill Rutledge Elaborates

Welcome to the America’s Veterans Stories podcast.

Kim Monson is your host.

In August of 1945 atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. Ninety-six year young Col. Bill Rutledge addresses naysayers regarding these actions. After many years, Col. Rutledge had a colleague who shared details of the classified plans for the invasion of Japan. Conservative estimates, if the invasion occurred, were at least 9 million Japanese casualties and 1 million American casualties. This information was critical to Truman as he made the decision to drop the bomb.
