In this engaging episode, Joey Hudson, filling in for Mike Gallagher, dives into the complex political maneuvers surrounding former President Trump and the current state of affairs on Capitol Hill. Discussion surfaces around controversial decisions, media cover-ups, and the ongoing power dynamics among leading political influencers today. From the CBS report pullback on El Salvador’s immigrant detainment to accusations of media bias, the narrative unveils the layers of political strategy aimed at shaping public perception.

The Mike Gallagher Show. The Murdochs to the McConnell, Karl Rove, everything up on Capitol Hill and in the state parties, they hate Trump as much as the Democrats do. And they now see an opportunity to get rid of him. They’re not that worried about losing the House. They’re just not. They don’t want to lose the House, but they say, hey, if losing the House comes with getting rid of Trump and his cabal, eh. Maybe we can do it for a while and we’ll get it back later.
SPEAKER 13 :
In the Relief Factor studios on Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 11 :
Joey Hudson in for Mike. Glad to have you join us on this Monday before Christmas. Are you excited? Are you ready for Christmas? Have you finished your shopping? 800-655-6453. You can text me on the MyPillow text line. Interesting story. Evidently, CBS had a story about the El Salvador prison, what is described as a hellhole of a prison where we’re sending gang members, illegal immigrants who are part of the MS-13 gangs and other very, very bad people, murderers, rapists, burglars, robbers. And we have an agreement, I guess, with El Salvador to take some of the worst of the worst. So CBS, their 60 Minutes had a segment, and I’m sure it wasn’t going to be a complimentary segment. And they pulled it at the last minute. Didn’t explain why, other than they said they’d need some additional reporting. which in TV newspeak means something didn’t check out, something at the last minute they realized was incorrect. Now, the reporter who did this, Sharon Alfonsi, she asked a former inmate if he thought that he was going to die there. His reply, we thought we were already the living dead, he said. This was a very, it was a hit job. sort of a poor little, you know, we can’t believe what you’re doing to these illegal immigrants, sending them down to this horrible, horrible place. Now, I think the Trump administration was doing this for a couple reasons. Number one, we just don’t have room for all of them. Number two, though, is to get the message out. It’s a deterrent. Let these gangs know, if you come to America illegally, you break our laws, you get caught illegally, You could end up in this El Salvadoran prison. You could end up in what your buddies are calling a hellhole. And I think it’s working. But evidently, this CBS 60 Minutes reporter was going to do a hit job on the Trump administration. Something didn’t add up, though. It’s going to be interesting to find out, or if we do find out, CBS says that they will air it at a later date. Yeah, we’ll see. Back to the phones. Let’s go to Donna, who is in my hometown of Greenville. Welcome, Donna. You’re on the Mike Gallagher show.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, Merry Christmas to you. It’s good to hear you.
SPEAKER 11 :
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you, Donna.
SPEAKER 04 :
You bet. It’s in your heart. I wanted to bring up the First Amendment and the Tenth Amendment. on this religion and the mayor’s trying to prohibit free expression. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. First Amendment. So it says Congress. So some people will argue, well, it says only Congress can determine it. But this is one of the things, the 10 First Amendments are the Bill of Rights. Those are under federal jurisdiction. And so nobody else can take that part away. So And also, Congress has not made a law. They can’t. And so there’s nothing for any government, local or otherwise, to go to and say, we can block this. And then the Tenth Amendment says the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it by the Constitution, to the states are reserved to the states, respectively, or to the people. So it didn’t allow it in the United States under their jurisdiction to And then some people would say, well, then the states could do it. No, the jurisdiction is federal. And secondly, a lot of the states have an awful lot of constitutions that are very, very similar to what the U.S. is. And bottom line, the Ten Amendments come from God’s rights, freedoms for people, to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. So I don’t know why the Supreme Court, if you can tell me this, Why the Supreme Court says that they can mandate that secular things have to be with the nativity. There’s nothing in the Constitution that allows that.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, yeah. They were wrong. Good point, Donna. And I think that that was part of a ruling in this. I think it was in 1984 when this was brought up. I think they were using that as an example. But when I read that and when I read the decision, I thought the same thing you did. I thought we don’t need to justify it. We don’t need to have to stick Santa and Rudolph out there just to justify a nativity scene.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right. It belongs to we the people by God. The rights are not given by the government. They’re given by God.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, the good news in this case, Donna, is Mullen, South Carolina, has a nativity scene, and they’re not going to take it down.
SPEAKER 04 :
Everybody should stand up like that to these violations. Everybody has to do not comply with these illegal and immoral rules and regulations. Don’t get me started on COVID, okay?
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, Donna, appreciate your call. And again, Merry Christmas to you. 800-655-6453. If you’re just joining us, Donna’s talking about a case that we’ve been talking about some today. Mullen, South Carolina. It’s a small town in my home state of South Carolina. And the mayor… had requested that a nativity scene be removed that a group of volunteer citizens had put up in the town square as part of the Christmas decorations. They had Santa and Rudolph and all the others in there and all the likes, but they had a nativity scene, as they should. Again, it’s Christmas. Christ-mas. And when we start taking Christ out of Christmas, we’re kind of defeating the whole purpose, right? And this group of citizens, the mayor claims he was concerned that the city would get in trouble, that this was a violation of the separation of church and state, which is hogwash. It has nothing to do with the separation of church and state. But good for these folks that they’re standing up and they’re saying, we’re going to keep our nativity scene because we celebrate Christmas for the right reasons. We recognize that this is a very special holiday and we’re celebrating the birth of Christ. We’re celebrating the story, the Christmas story, of Jesus being in that manger. 800-655-6453. Let’s stay with the phones. Joan is in Delaware. Welcome, Joan.
SPEAKER 03 :
Welcome to you. Merry Christmas to you, Joey, and your listeners.
SPEAKER 11 :
Thank you, Joan. You too. Merry Christmas.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re very welcome. Yes, the reason that I am calling, a similar incident a couple of years ago happened in the state of Delaware. But the town… It shall remain nameless, if I may. One person complained, Joey. One person. And they took it down. They even had a priest in the Catholic Church. He tried to keep it up, but they just wouldn’t allow it. But there’s other towns in our state that are being allowed to put it up, whether it’s in their front yard. But the first thing that my husband, I make sure he does, the first thing we decorate within our front yard is a nativity scene.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep. Good for you. Good for you.
SPEAKER 03 :
First thing. So if everybody out there gets in a bandwagon, whether you’re not Christian or not, I mean, it is the reason for the season.
SPEAKER 11 :
Exactly. It’s why we have Christmas.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right, Joey. Well, you’re doing a great job, and Merry Christmas again to you, and thank you for taking my call.
SPEAKER 11 :
Thank you, Joan. 800-655-6453 is how you can join the conversation. Alex will put you in queue. We’ll talk as time permits. You can text me on the MyPillow text line. You can also email me directly, joey at joeyhudson.com. And, again, let me invite you to join me on my daily podcast, Just the Truth. Joey Hudson, in for Mike.

Joey Hudson in for Mike. Glad to have you with us on this Monday before Christmas as Mike is taking time off to be with his family at Christmas. I got some photos that he sent to me yesterday. We talked for a minute. They’re already having a white Christmas in Montana. Just a beautiful, beautiful place where they are. But I’m happy to be with you. Appreciate you spending part of your day with me. I was talking earlier about the Turning Point USA event a conference that wrapped up yesterday. This was their big annual America Fest and, of course, the first big conference since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. And Charlie had a thing where he always had a surprise guest for the crowd. And so Erica kept that tradition going this year when she introduced Nicki Minaj the musician. I want you to hear, you know, Minaj has come under fire from her colleagues in Hollywood for liking President Trump, for supporting President Trump. And Erica asked her about that. I want you to hear Minaj’s, in cut number six, her response to Erica on how she stands up to these people.
SPEAKER 06 :
You are getting a lot of backlash from your own industry. What is your reaction to that? I didn’t notice. Amen. I feel the same way. When people are like, what do you think about them? I’m like, I don’t think about them. Bingo. We don’t even think about them. We don’t have time to. We’re too busy building, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah. We’re the cool kids. Okay. The other people, they’re the ones who are still just disgruntled, but really they’re just disgruntled with themselves. They are angry with themselves, you guys.
SPEAKER 11 :
Isn’t that great? Don’t you wish there were more people like Nicki Minaj? And honestly, I don’t know her music. It’s just not my kind of music. But I applaud her and I admire her for standing up to the people in her music industry and saying, hey, I love my president. I love my country. And I’m going to support him because he’s doing what is best for our country. And when she says, hey, I don’t even hear them, that’s the thing to do. Ignore them. Pretend they’re not there. and just move on. But that Turning Point USA, their America Fest, was a huge success. Of course, Vice President J.D. Vance was the final speaker. He wrapped things up last night. And again, I’ve got to say, although he did not say, I’m running for president after Erica Kirk endorsed him and said that Turning Point would be doing everything they can to to get him elected, he sounded like a presidential candidate last night, didn’t he? He talked about policy. He talked about the future. He talked about how, yes, things take a little time to turn around, and, yes, our economy is not where it needs to be, but there are signs that we’re headed in the right direction. And J.D. Vance sounded like he’s the man who’s ready to step up and lead after President Donald Trump returns to Mar-a-Lago for his retirement. 800-655-6453. We’ve also been talking about some fun stuff about regifting. How many times have you received a present from someone and you realize that you’d given them the present the year before? You got a story like that? Text it to me on the MyPillow text line, 800-655-6453. Email me, joey, at joeyhudson.com. Or better yet, give me a call, and we’ll put you in queue and talk about it as time permits. Bonnie is in my hometown of Greenville. Welcome, Bonnie.
SPEAKER 05 :
Hey, good morning. Merry Christmas. I live up at Table Rock.
SPEAKER 11 :
Ah, beautiful country at Table Rock. Merry Christmas to you, Bonnie.
SPEAKER 05 :
It is.
SPEAKER 11 :
What’s on your mind today?
SPEAKER 05 :
So I am a pharmacist, as is my husband. And we had these beautiful set of engraved set of crystal glasses that had the RX symbol in them. Never used them. I don’t know why. They sat up in the cabinet in a really nice gift box. And they just sat there. And one year we had a friend come over for Christmas. He was also a pharmacist. And he showed up with a gift. And I was mortified. So while my husband and he were downstairs, I wrapped up this beautiful gift box of glasses and gave it to him. And then when he left, my husband was like, you know, that’s where those glasses came from, right? And, you know, clearly I was even more mortified. I don’t do that anymore.
SPEAKER 11 :
Look, when you get caught, it’s very uncomfortable, isn’t it, Bonnie? But, hey, we’ve all done it. We’ve all done it. So, hey, Merry Christmas to you. Appreciate you listening to 98.9 WORD, the Voice of the Carolinas, our home station here in upstate South Carolina. Let’s go to William, who is just up the road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Welcome, William.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hey, Joey. I actually live in Powdersville, so not too far away from you.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, okay. Powdersville. Okay, you’re even closer. Yeah, well, Merry Christmas.
SPEAKER 15 :
Merry Christmas to you, too. Almost similar story to your previous caller, but my parents are well off, and they’re very, very difficult to shop for. So all of us kids and some of the grandkids and some of the wives and the other husbands… Last Christmas, we snuck, I don’t know, 10, 12 different Christmas items out of the house and re-gifted it to mom this year. And I know a lot of people have seen that trend going around on Facebook or social media or anything. But the first one, she was like, oh my gosh, I’ve lost this and I could not find it. Thank you so much. The funny thing it was, was this is her crystal. nativity scene baby jesus she couldn’t find baby jesus and the first gift she opened up was baby jesus isn’t it amazing how santa knows things like that and it just went on and on and on and she finally caught on about the 10th 12th gift and it was absolutely hilarious we all had a great time and then obviously she got more gifts because she opened up things she already had, and then we got her more stuff. So it was a lot of fun. And, I mean, that’s what the holidays are about. And, you know, your previous colors, previous segments, you know, you take Christ out of Christmas.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep. What’s the point? That’s a great idea, William. Honestly, I don’t know that I’d ever heard that, but that is a great idea. I’m going to have to use that. Oh, you haven’t? Wow.
SPEAKER 15 :
Next year, I mean, we stuck things out this year as well, but we were a little bit more – inconspicuous this year. We also came up with another Christmas idea. Yeah, I’ll share it next year.
SPEAKER 11 :
Merry Christmas to you, William. Appreciate your phone call. And again, thanks for listening to the Mike Gallagher Show. Carl is in Connecticut, I believe. Welcome, Carl.
SPEAKER 14 :
How are you doing?
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m wonderful. Hope you are. What’s on your mind today?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, I heard you talking about this Christmas thing.
SPEAKER 11 :
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER 14 :
And I don’t know if it’s what it’s supposed to be. But as Christians, right, Americans? Yes. So do you think we should support people who support our beliefs?
SPEAKER 11 :
Should we support our belief? Is that what you’re asking?
SPEAKER 14 :
Shouldn’t we support people who support our beliefs?
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, absolutely. As a Christian, yes. I mean, Christmas is all about Christ. Christmas is about the birth of Christ. And so we do not need to take Christ out of Christmas. And that’s unfortunately what happens around the country. We’ve seen, like in Oregon, they had a Christmas tree lighting, but they didn’t say it was Christmas because they were ashamed to say Christ. and with nativity scenes. And this is not, you know, Mullen, South Carolina, it’s not the first time we’ve seen this come up. But that’s it for today. Appreciate the time that you spent with us. We’re back again tomorrow. I’m in for Mike Gallagher, Joey Hudson.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 11 :
Joey Hudson in for Mike on this Monday before Christmas. Texter says, this is Jen from Pittsburgh. I’m so sick of hearing about Epstein. It’s obvious the crazy Democrats are trying to connect the president with him. Give it up already. I’m sick of it too, aren’t you? And what I’m even more sick of is how when we have a situation like Friday, where Friday was the deadline to release all the Epstein files, the DOJ released them as they were supposed to. Evidently, after they were posted on the web, some figured out after a judge said, And according to the story, some of the victims, their representation went to a judge and asked the Department of Justice to take some down until they could be redacted because they had information about some of the victims. Well, of course, the Democrats immediately jumped to the conclusion that these involved Donald Trump. and that he had instructed the DOJ to take them down because they would be detrimental to him. Now, according to Todd Blanch, the Deputy Attorney General and former personal lawyer to Donald Trump, every redaction in the Epstein files had one purpose and one purpose only. That was to protect the victims and comply with the law. because the law requires them to do so. Again, on Meet the Press, when Blanche was pressed about what was released, he again doubled down and cut number eight, explaining that they’re going to protect the victims first every single time.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, you’re talking about protecting the victims. The law directed the Justice Department to, quote, release internal DOJ communications, including emails, memos, meeting notes concerning decisions to charge, not charge, investigate or decline to investigate Epstein or his associates. That’s the crux of what many of the victims or the survivors say they want to see. Why wasn’t that information prioritized in the first release, Mr. Blanch?
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, first of all, it was. And there are numerous documents released on Friday that address what you just quoted from, from the statute that address internal communications within the Department of Justice and internal communications between law enforcement and the Department of Justice. But it’s for the same reason, because many of those internal communications talk about victims. many of those internal back and forth between prosecutors and law enforcement talk about victims and their stories and that has to be redacted and by the way everybody expects us to redact that so the same complaints that we’re hearing yesterday and even this morning from democrats and from others screaming loudly from a hill about lack of production on friday imagine if we had released tons of information around victims. That would be the true crime. That would be the true wrong. And if anybody out there, I heard Congressman Raskin, the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, releasing statements accusing Attorney General Bondi, Director Patel, and myself of not doing our jobs. If they have an issue with me protecting victims, they know how to get a hold of me.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, and if they had left those up, the Democrats would have been complaining. They’d been the first to complain that the Trump administration had exposed, had once again victimized the victims. Right? Portions of today’s show made possible by Hotel Harkness. Hotel Harkness is right here in the upstate of South Carolina, and when Mike travels to visit the market, he stays at Hotel Harkness. What do you think about the idea that they took some of these files down, and they say temporarily, because of the victims? And that’s what they’re supposed to be doing, right? Protecting the victims. These young girls who were taken advantage of by Jeffrey Epstein and his cohorts. But yet the Democrats, their first response is, oh, there you go, you’re protecting Donald Trump. There’s no evidence, and Todd Blanch and others in the administration say that we have seen all that we’re going to see with Donald Trump. 800-655-6453 is how you join the conversation on this Monday before Christmas.
