All right, before going on vacation, I had the opportunity to drive a little different car, because it’s a 2024 Mercedes-Benz, CLE450C4. I know that’s a mouthful, but anybody that’s in the Mercedes-Benz kind of knows what all of that means. But it’s basically a 450 4MATIC coupe, so it’s a CLE version of the Mercedes 450 4MATIC coupe, so it’s an all-wheel drive as well.
$72,600, three liter inline turbo engine, 375 horsepower, this is a two-door coupe car. Sexy, sexy, sexy looking car. I had multiple, multiple comments on how good looking this car was and the drivability of it.
I second to none, Richard, as you know. I mean, this is one of those cars where you get in it and don’t want to give it back because everything in it just functions the way it should. The only thing that I ever struggle with with Mercedes, and nothing against you guys, Mercedes, is something I just have to get used to when I get into a Mercedes versus some of the other versions of vehicles that are out there, other manufacturers, I should say, is when you adjust the seats, it’s up on the side of the door panel.
Most vehicles, the seat adjustment is on the seat itself. Every time I get into a Mercedes, I’m always feeling down around the bottom end of the seat cushion, if you would, trying to adjust things. I have to remember that, no, dummy, it’s not there.
It’s up over here on the door. Not a big deal. They do a lot of great things with the vehicle.
Their infotainment system over the years just continues to improve and improve and improve. This one comes standard. Carplay works fantastic.
And again, Richard, it’s a 375 horsepower coupe that’s turbocharged at our elevation. Just fabulous. The car just runs.
It’s got 26 miles to the gallon average city. I averaged higher than that. This thing will go all the way up into the 33 range.
I was in the high 20s all day long. Phenomenal car. Don’t know really what else to say.
The car just works great.
They do a phenomenal job, dad. Doesn’t really matter. The car, they really don’t have a lot of dead ones.
We’ll just say that, right? They tend to do a phenomenal job on their vehicles, how they put them together. Like you say, every car is a little bit different, especially when you get into the luxury brands, right?
It takes a little bit more getting used to, I think, with some of those. But not necessarily a bad thing. Just something that takes a little bit of time.
But yet, like you said, second to none. The luxury aspect of it, all of that is really hard to beat. And they just really do a great job.
And so it’s not a surprise that, and again, I know Ty talked to you about it, you really enjoyed driving that car and it was one of your more fun ones.
No, it really was. I mean, this car is sexy, looks really well. I mean, if you’re in the market, you’re at that stage where all the kids are grown, you’re looking to buy yourself a little bit of a luxury gift, if you would, because things have changed in your world and you’ve got the ability to do some things that maybe you couldn’t do prior.
You don’t want to go out and spend huge dollars. I mean, this is a car that, a lot of people say, well, $72,000 isn’t cheap. No, but as you know, Richard, there’s cars that you could add, let’s just say, another $20,000 or $30,000 to when it’s all said and done.
So this car, really, in the low 70s, fully equipped, everything dialed in, all-wheel drive for our climate. I mean, at the end of the day, this really is a pretty good, decent vehicle for the money. And yeah, it is a luxury car.
It’s a Mercedes. And again, they’ve got some entry-level cars as well. But this is a Mercedes.
This car will run you, literally, Richard. If you bought this car, it would run you the rest of your life if you wanted it to. The reality is solid car, $72,600.
Again, 2024 CLE450 4MATIC Coupe. If you’re interested in driving this car or buying this car, I should say. And Richard and I always talk about this.
Get out, get in the car, feel the car. I get questions all the time. What car do I buy?
Which one is better? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And what I always tell people, Richard, is it comes down to what fits you the best?
What do you like driving the best? What do you feel the most comfortable in? When it’s all said and done, you buy what you like, not what somebody else tells you to buy.
So go check this thing out at your local Mercedes dealer. Tell them that John and Richard Brush, both from Rush to Reason and Drive Radio, both sent you. This is John Rush from Rush to Reason and Drive Radio.
