Join Dana Lashley in an episode that dissects the uncertain political coalition between Trump and Musk as recent media narratives unfold. With a spirited discussion on the media’s intentions and its potential impacts on strategic alliances, Dana presents a compelling argument on why these fractures must be addressed privately, not publicly. Delve into the nuanced conversation about shareholder interests, media machinations, and why fighting out disagreements openly could be a significant misstep for political figures. From Musk’s stance on government subsidies to Trump’s political maneuvering, this episode sheds light on how personalities and policies intersect in the fast-paced world

SPEAKER 19 :
But if they picked him, I would have won Pennsylvania. I won it by a lot. But I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people. He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden, he had a problem. And he only developed the problem when he found out that we’re going to have to cut the EV mandate because that’s billions and billions of dollars. And it really is unfair. We want to have cars of all types, electric. We want to have electric, but we want to have gasoline, combustion. We want to have different. We want to have hybrids. We want to be able to sell everything. And when that was cut, and Congress wanted to cut it, it became a little bit different. And I can understand that. But he knew every aspect of this bill. He knew it better than almost anybody. And he never had a problem until right after he left. And if you saw the statements he made about me, which I’m sure you can get very easily. It’s very fresh on tape. He said the most beautiful things about me. And he hasn’t said bad about me personally, but I’m sure that’ll be next. Okay, that’s crappy. Come on. I’ve helped Elon a lot.
SPEAKER 12 :
Welcome back to the program. Dana Lashley with you. And I’m telling you, this is… There’s several different ways I’m looking at this. Kane, do you remember in the very beginning when… I think it was right after the election. So they were still in the transitory period and Musk was advising and they were forming Doge. I don’t even think that they had they had announced Doge just yet. And I think, well, they did. They I take that back. They had announced Doge and they were they were discussing Doge. And the media started in with their headlines saying so. I think I’m trying to remember it because some of it’s not some of it they read. re-headlined because I had it saved in my online bookmarks and the headlines changed. But essentially, they were trying to trying to plant the seed of division between Musk and Trump. And remember, I was telling you that if they can’t get Trump’s scalp, they want Musk’s. And if they can’t get Musk’s scalp, they want the alliance. Now, here’s the problem. And again, I’m going to lay this out in a very elementary way. You can like a politician and You can like an elected official. You can like the president. It doesn’t mean that you have to agree with everything that he does. It also doesn’t mean that you have to disagree if you don’t really disagree. But. I think that we’ve got to be really practical and realistic in how we look at this. I warned everyone this is a very fragile coalition and the media is going to look to expose any cracks and it doesn’t help when members of our side play into it. And Republicans absolutely have. And with that remark, Trump absolutely just did. Trump is very smart and he… When he says, well, and I’m sure he’s going to go and say mean things about me publicly. That isn’t him doing it to say, I hope Elon doesn’t. He’s basically saying, I dare you. And I think, Cain, you would agree with that because and I don’t mean this as a pejorative. So please don’t look at it that way. I’m not saying this as a put down. I think that in chick strategy and how you deal with things actually is a mark of intelligence, not because women are super smart or smarter than dudes. Women operate very differently. Case in point, your girl out there may have beef with someone. I don’t care how long you’ve been married or you may not even know. I don’t care how long you’ve been married. I don’t care how long you’ve been dating. I don’t care how long you’ve known her, how long you’ve been related to her. I don’t care. Chances are a female in your life has beef with someone, some female, and you won’t even know about it because chicks operate underhandedly. Oh, oh my gosh. It’s so Machiavellian. I think Machiavelli may have been a chick. I’m just saying. You read the prints and you’re like, that sounds like a girl. It’s so underhanded. Dudes fight it out. Like a dude will go, wait a minute. I don’t like what you just said. Yeah, you don’t like what I just said. What of it? And then they fight and then they get over it. That’s what always flummox. That flummox is chicks. We can’t figure that out. We’re like, wait a minute. Now you guys are friends again? Because once a chick doesn’t like you, dude, we don’t like you for forever. It is just the way of things. I don’t know how you would explain that in terms of biology or sex. I just don’t know. But that’s just the way it is. And every woman out there listening right now in unison is going, mm-hmm. That’s right. And these ladies know it too. I have friends that are women that I know all their beefs. And the men in our lives have no clue. And that’s fine. That’s the way it should be. But there are some things that dudes will do. And when they’re used to negotiating and these machinations… They incorporate some of this stuff. So him going, well, I’m sure he’s probably going to say something. That’s a chick move. Because he’s not saying, well, I’m going to be really hurt if he says anything about me publicly. He’s not saying that. He’s not saying, well, so many people turn on me. I just know that he probably will too. He’s not saying that like he is sharing with you a great sorrow. He’s saying that like I double dog dare you, you expletive. That’s what he’s doing. And you know that, Cain. That’s what a chick would do, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, it’s a little woman-y.
SPEAKER 12 :
I mean, it’s psychology. And we only say that it’s woman-y because women tend to use it. And when dudes use it, when a dude uses tactics like that, that’s when you should go, wait a minute.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, like what’s the end game here?
SPEAKER 12 :
Like if you know a man, a straight dude who gossips with you. That man is dangerous. That is one of the most dangerous dudes ever because they get the psyche out. They get it. I’m just explaining that to you because when he said that, I was like, oh my gosh, come on. No. It’s like what my grandma would do, right? She would say something like that. Well, I’m sure they’re just not going to be here for Thanksgiving then. You know, and she wasn’t saying it like, well, I’m going to be so sad. I’m sharing my sorrow with you that, you know, this particular grandchild won’t be here for Thanksgiving. No, she was saying, I double dog dare you, you brat, to not be here for Thanksgiving. That’s what grandma was meaning and you all know it.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s true. Sounds like you don’t like old people now.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, I love old people. I’m not like you. I mean, I get you hate old people and all that, and you think they’re dangerous and scary. That’s okay. That’s not fair. That’s all right, you know. So, life and fair. I got to say, I think that Trump’s representation of Musk is a misrepresentation. And I don’t think it’s fair to say, well, he liked this bill until the EV mandates. That’s not actually accurate. Can we play audio soundbite one? I want you to listen to the timeline that Speaker Johnson says in this statement. Listen.
SPEAKER 14 :
Elon Musk just said we need a brand new bill that doesn’t grow the deficit. He was actually quote tweeting a video of you from the press conference this morning saying he tried to reach him last night. Do you have any response? He says we need a brand new bill that doesn’t grow the deficit.
SPEAKER 03 :
Elon, look, we don’t have time for a brand new bill. And I want Elon and all my friends to recognize the complexity of what we’ve accomplished here. This extraordinary piece of legislation. A record number of savings, record tax cuts for the American people and all the other benefits in it. We worked on the bill for almost 14 months. I’m sorry, what? 14 months?
SPEAKER 12 :
And we shouldn’t. We have a great product. Cain, how long has Trump been in the White House?
SPEAKER 06 :
Not quite even six yet. Almost six.
SPEAKER 12 :
14 months. So this isn’t even Trump’s bill. Although he’s claiming it, though, at this point. But that’s not even his bill. So this is the Swamp’s bill. If they’ve been working on this for 14 months, this is the swamps bill. Now, I think that’s interesting because one of the other things, too, is that Musk has called for ending the tax credits for forever. He has said it over and over again. We’ve played audio on this show. He has said he’s tweeted about it. Take away the subsidies. It will only help Tesla. He goes, I think we should get rid of all of the credits. When asked by the Hill, he said, I think we should get rid of all of the credits. When asked again by Politico, he said he supports getting rid of all of the EV credits. He supports getting rid of all of the subsidies. He doesn’t support any of it. And here’s the other thing. From what I understand, I don’t even think most of Tesla’s models are… I don’t even think that they qualify. Do they? From what I understand, I think it was the older models that qualified. I don’t even think the newer ones qualify. So I. The other thing, too, is that when it comes to subsidies, I’m just going for a seat. This is CBS. And this is a story that I had saved. This is from June of 23. I’m going to drop this in Slack for you guys real quick. This is June 23. Sorry, CBT. So everybody got a EV. Actually, all automakers except Tesla got subsidies under Biden.
SPEAKER 1 :
Huh.
SPEAKER 12 :
Remember, Biden shut them out entirely. He didn’t even invite Tesla to the summit at the White House. And the mandate that they’re talking about, this means that vehicles sold, you have to have all vehicles sold by whatever date to be electric. And that’s different from the credits. And Musk is on record in opposing the mandate also. So what Trump is just describing here is not accurate. It’s not true. The things that he’s saying. This is the piece that Juan is showing you on the simulcast. If you’re watching Channel 347 or the stream, that’s one of the articles. And in this article, it gets into how Tesla didn’t get anything. routinely Tesla did not get it. And the mandates, the EV mandate, I mean, it’s essentially an incentive and they’re incentivizing it. It’s like a reverse syntax in a way. So they’re incentivizing it like in a reverse syntax to get people to purchase EVs so that they can claim a certain percentage of vehicles sold and owned by whatever date are EVs. And he actually has never supported that. And a lot of people pointed out that, well, the media in the past would try to seize upon it as a way to drive a wedge between him and his shareholders. Saying, oh, well, he’s not acting in the best interest of his shareholders if he doesn’t support these mandates. Oh, Musk isn’t acting. I mean, he’s getting attacked on all sides. I don’t agree with the guy on everything. But I think that the way that basically people are going at him because he can’t be used right now. It’s interesting. Interesting. And they’re, I mean, the market that they have, et cetera, they’ve been under attack a lot. This would, he would actually, if he really, if this was about EV mandates, as Trump was claiming, which I thought was a great impugnation of his character, of Musk’s character. If it was about that, then Musk would support this bill. He could easily get a carve out like, oh, I want Tesla in this. I want Tesla to get the lion’s share of this. I want this to be most incentivized for Tesla. The funny thing is, is that he could do it. And I think most people who are on the right wouldn’t bat an eye. You know, I’m right, Kane. You know, I’m right. Most people would be like, OK, because he’s one of ours. I’m not. They are. That’s that’s where consistency comes in. But he isn’t doing that. But like I said, the EV mandate, it’s not so much a mandate as it is a reverse syntax incentive. But this is just ingenious. It’s dishonest what he just said about him at the at the press conference. And I don’t need to go in and be like a white knight for Musk or anything like that. But I just think that that’s that’s not accurate. And I think that it plays into what the media wants. The media wants division. The media wants to rock the coalition. And they look at the Musk Trump coalition. alliance and friendship as being the linchpin for that if they can take that then they can start picking away at the other aspects of the coalition because the left for as much as we make fun of them for being stupid and focusing on dumb things yes but there is a faction of them that are incredibly smart there’s a reason why they’ve been able to stick around for so long despite having horrific financial policy they’ve been able to stick around for a long time for a reason And I think people are overplaying their hand and underestimating that particular faction on the left. If they can drive this wedge, if they can claim that alliance, then they’re going to start picking off the rest of the coalition. They’ve already started. And the right does not need to help them. Republican lawmakers do not need to help them. The president does not need to help them. This is why fights like this should be kept private. And I do think to an extent that they were. I don’t doubt for a second that, you know, you have two boardroom guys. I don’t doubt for a second that they tried to solve this privately. But I also suspect that there are a lot of people in Trump’s inner circle that have advantages for them to not solve it amicably privately. And that’s a real reality. That was a problem that plagued him his first term. I think with the addition of some of the people in Trump’s campaign, that’s why you’re not seeing the leaks the way that you did. But I do think that those competitive factions still exist within the circle. And I’m just saying this is not the time to be doing this. We don’t have the time. We’re actually behind schedule now. We have a lot more on the way as we have days of these United States, our partners that help bring you the program. SPEAKER 12 :
OK, I got to interject. All of this is happening because the. They were arguing over whether or not somebody’s job should be at risk over jokes about Jewish people. And I think that they’re conflating. The guy was insubordinate. If you’re the employee, I can’t go to my boss and talk to my boss like that. I can’t. Nobody can. There’s insubordination. And then there’s, oh, well, I didn’t like it that you made a joke. And I think Portnoy had less of a problem with the latter and more of a problem with the outright disrespect that’s within the insubordination. But we’ve got, you know, single cell amoebas out there who are going up and it had to do with the two jokes. No, it didn’t. It had to do with insubordination. And if you think that somehow insubordination is allowed, then let’s do a social experiment. I want you to go to your boss and tell them to go do something unflattering to themselves and see how long you get your check after that. Case closed. Yeah. Good luck with that one. All right. SPEAKER 15 :
I mean, frankly, I can’t believe I’m here doing this. It’s kind of bizarre. But I kind of think that we’ve got this enormous federal budget deficit. And it’s a $2 trillion deficit. It keeps growing. Our interest payments are higher than our Defense Department budget. That, I think, was the real problem. wake-up call for me was looking at seeing that the interest payments the national debt exceeded the Defense Department budget and that was only growing over time which meant if we didn’t do something about this then there won’t be any money for anything
SPEAKER 12 :
And he’s right. I mean, I think, you know, one of the big things and especially one of the big things that’s in this in this bill as it pertains to defense spending, defense spending isn’t a sacred cow. And I think that when you have an entity that has failed seven audits in a row, I think that needs to be rectified. I know that we’re in weird times in terms of China and the South Sea and the Pacific and with all of the neocons wanting to go fight Russia and Iran and everything else. But I think you’ve got to make sure that it’s sustainable. I mean, that has to be remedied before we just start And a lot of the money that’s being spent, like for instance, in parts of the bill, they’re talking about allocating billions of dollars for manned flights when everything has been going into unmanned aerial battle, drone warfare. Welcome back to the program. Dana Lash here with you. It’s at the top of this second hour. A complete civil war is broken out on the right because you have the fight between Elon Musk and now Trump. And now it’s actually kind of a fight. Because it decided they I don’t know if both of them decided. I don’t know who went public first. Does it matter, Kane? No. It went public. Does it matter how? No. I don’t think so. Yeah. So now they’re going back and forth. Musk is on X. Just letting it fly. It’s Trump earlier during a press availability with the German prime minister. had addressed it, and then Musk, oh, there you go. Juan’s got it. That’s just one of the many posts on X that Elon Musk has. Like, where is this guy today? And has all of his previous tweets. Oh, my goodness. So it’s going to be a mess. And this is what I had said just a little bit ago on X. The there is this very fragile coalition on the right. The last time we had a coalition, I would say, was maybe during the Tea Party era, like 2008, 2009. And it was a lot of us. You had people who were constitutionalists. That’s the best. That’s how I describe myself. You know, conservative constitutionalists, I like to conserve the individual. You had Republicans, you had libertarians, capital L and lowercase L, independents, you had some moderates. Everybody came together because it was what? Reduced spending, more about empowering the individual over the state. And everyone came together on that, delivered a whopping victory in 2010 midterm elections that cost Barack Obama his control in the House. They took a shellacking and really hurt him. And so, you know, then we kind of bobbed along and, you know, sort of, you know, you wouldn’t have had Trump today without that movement. But now it’s weird because that movement, I think, eventually led to Trump. But now we’ve got a lot of. I don’t say this like talking about baseball, like Bush League. And it’s just the best way I can describe big spending Republicans, like Republicans who think that government should actually be a facilitator to things as opposed to limiting everything to the enumerated powers of Article 1, Section 8. So it’s a really weird spot. And because now we have this populist layer to it and populism is not principled. It’s a tactic. So populist saying that you’re a populist is not the same as saying you’re a conservative. You’re just saying I like this tactic. It doesn’t describe a set of principles because the left can be populist. So that’s why you can say that you you like populism. But it’s weird when I hear people say they’re a populist because that is a tactic. It’s not a set of ideals. So that tactic, though, has been used quite a bit in the past, you know, what, 10 years. And as a result of that, the right started getting into hive mind the way that the left did. And this is why I always think that’s dangerous. You cannot have a coalition and a hive mind mentality. Look at the left. When was the left at its most powerful? They had a coalition. You used used to used to have pro-life Democrats and they ran them out of the party. They literally changed their platform. Do you remember what DNC it was where they did that, Cain? It was like in the aughts, I thought. And I remember that there were. Members of the party, when they were trying to solidify their new rules package for the DNC that were objecting and they were booed out of the room, there was video because we played it on air. When you cover this so much, some of it becomes a haze. But I remember they were booed off air. There were Democrat candidates that were told if you are a pro-life Democrat. you will no longer receive funding from the DCCC, and that’s the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. They were officially not going to help candidates who described themselves or advertised themselves as pro-life Democrats. They went after pro-Second Amendment Democrats. There used to be Democrats that actually they were, I guess you could call them moderates now or independents, but they did not buy into gun control. They were hunters. You know, they they were more Democrat because they were union blue collar. And now you don’t even have I mean, it’s they’ve changed so much. They wanted everything to be streamlined and siloed. There were no there’s no deviations from the rule. That’s how you kill a coalition. The right started getting into that, where you couldn’t disagree with anyone. And, you know, I’ve said this before, but there were people who would attack me if I would disagree with parts of Trump’s policy. And I know Trump. Like, my gosh, he personally asked me to introduce him at CPAC. He was on my show all the time when I was in St. Louis. All the time the man was coming on. We got along great. Knew his family. I still know him. And he’s always been incredibly kind and gracious. Can’t say that about everybody in his inner circle. But I don’t agree with him on everything. I don’t agree with my husband. I don’t agree on everything. Like he hates old people. And I think that’s me. We don’t agree with, you know, we always don’t agree. You know, he’s constantly pushing probiotics. You know, we don’t. I’m just saying, you know. But my point is, is that the hive mind kills a coalition. And that’s what we’re seeing right now. And Elon Musk is not one of those to fall in line. And I’m not saying this is like to stand him or anything else. I’m just pointing out that this is the problem. You will get individuals in your coalition that we just want consistency. We want to be left alone and we want consistency from our lawmakers. That’s how I’ve always been. And I’m not the only one. And you’re not going to be able to get those people in line with heavy hands. It’s not going to happen because they just dig in harder. you are also not going to have a healthy coalition by demanding that everybody always agree and that no one question your principles. And this is the problem. I mean, this coalition is on the edge of a knife. This is like, because I can bring everything back to Lord of the Rings. This is like what Gladriel, what she told the fellowship in, this was what the first in the fellowship of the ring. And they were at Galadriel’s house and she told them that, you know, your fellowship is on the edge of a knife. One false move and everything falls apart. You know, there has to be consistency in going towards this objective. And that’s and the left knows this. The left did not push the right there. What the left does is they just magnify and amplify any division. Coalitions are going to have divides. I think a lot of people on the right expected the coalition to all agree. And that’s never going to happen. That’s not how coalitions work. You have your party and then you have the coalition. The party agrees on everything. There’s there’s they’re all on the same page. The coalition, there’s certain things they agree with and certain things they don’t. The Reagan rule was my 80 percent friend is not my 20 percent enemy. And the right has never figured out the art of disagreeing and remaining united. They’ve never figured that out. They have no idea how to do that. And so the left didn’t push the right here. The right did it themselves because they keep taking the stupid bait. Trump takes the bait. Everybody takes the bait. Republican lawmakers take the bait. I see some activists that take the bait. Talking heads take the bait. The left and the legacy press, they wanted Trump’s scalp. They couldn’t get it. They wanted Musk’s scalp. They couldn’t get it. So they figured if they can’t take them individually, then we’ll go after the alliance. And that’s the first domino in the coalition. They view Musk as being the linchpin. Let me make this point incredibly clear. Blind loyalty has no place in a free republic at all. People are free to agree and disagree based on the merits of an issue. This entire nation was built on criticizing its lawmakers and the policies and airing grievances with all of it. The people who do not understand these basic concepts are as great a threat to this republic as the legacy press and the identity politic left that they purport to oppose. And like I said, there is an absolute art to disagreeing and remaining united. And the right has not figured it out as evidenced by now all of the fighting being done publicly. And I’m all about a good public debate. What I don’t like are the disingenuous statements made in support of one side or another. You know, like for instance, people have every right to criticize the big beautiful bill. If you support it in spite of all that, whatever. But people have every right to criticize it. We have every right to point out, okay, you keep telling us about these so-called tax cuts, but no one, everybody talks about the tax cuts, fails to mention that they’re temporary. They sunset in 2028, right as we’re going into another presidential election cycle. Dangerous. This is the time to do it. I think our strategy has fallen apart. I think there’s some kind of crazy mission creep now, and I have no idea what the right is doing. We got to figure it out. We have to figure it out. Now, I wanted to… There’s a couple of things. Because one of the aspects… This rarely happens with me. One of the aspects of this bill, this big, beautiful bill, which is separate from the rescissions package, I haven’t been super critical on, but I have thought that it is a very big issue. And I wanted to figure out more about it. And that has to do with the AI… regulation that’s in the bill. And we had on yesterday, Congressman Rich McCormick, who is on the Cyber Technologies, et cetera, subcommittee. And he made a very good point about it because the portion of the bill that pertains to AI was saying that states will essentially for the next 10 years not have the ability to regulate AI on their own. And I thought, that’s a dangerous thing. Why are we limiting states’ rights? Well, in the context of interstate commerce and national security, I do understand it. And I think for the first time listening to a lawmaker, I may be changing my opinion on it. That’s never happened, Kate. I mean, like maybe one time, but that’s maybe. It’s a big deal. Usually I’m in disagreement with most of them. But I thought that Representative McCormick, he really knows, you can tell that he’s done a lot of legwork on this. And he made some very good points. And we’re going to address this in context with what Marjorie Taylor Greene is saying on the floor about this aspect of the bill that she claims she didn’t read. And we’re going to talk about this coming up after headlines. Summer is all about making great memories. Backyard barbecues, road trips, lake days, even just relaxing in a hammock with a good book. Spending time with friends and family, catching sunset views. But if you’re living with pain… Those future memories can be stolen from you. SPEAKER 06 :
And now, all of the news you would probably miss. It’s time for Dana’s Quick Five.
SPEAKER 12 :
So, the, uh, they always, there’s, what is this? There’s always stories like this and I’m so tired of it. They’re saying now there’s an external factor that turns a male mammal into a female. Shut up. This is not even science. This is not, I’m so tired of this. Don’t they always do this? Like every, every make every, all the things gay month. So the Telegraph, the British, it’s the British version of Pravda. They said that POTUS killed Pride Month. They had alphabet events across the country that faced budget shortfalls as corporate sponsors ducked out in fear. I don’t think it’s an issue of I think it was the AIDS, the trans stuff and the grooming. I don’t think corporations had any individually objections to like, you know. Pride events. I think it’s when they started doing the transing of everything and that that there was an issue. But that like this has been an issue even before POTUS, just FYI. So I don’t know. A burning cargo ship carrying 3000 vehicles was abandoned off of the coast of Alaska. Three thousand. It includes 800 vehicles and a fire broke out on board. According to the operator, Zodiac Maritime, 22 crew members were safely evacuated after they failed to put out the fire. Now they’re trying to just salvage the vessel. They were evacuated via lifeboat and transferred to a nearby merchant vessel in tandem with the U.S. Coast Guard. It was about 300 miles southwest of Adak in Alaska. That’s the last place he would want to be. And Generation X, yes, is the coolest and happiest generation as well, according to a new survey. Stay with us. But you… Because I have some students at Columbia… you know, generally made an ass of themselves. Well, I can’t do that, but I can be for a party that everybody endorses the alternative for Deutschland, read the modern incarnation of national socialism, if you will. And I just find these kind of people, I literally, my instinct is, and they tell me that, they look me right in the eye. No, you just want your f***ing tax cut.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I mean, what’s wrong with, so wait, if you want a tax cut, are you a Nazi?
SPEAKER 04 :
Sounds like it.
SPEAKER 12 :
I guess only Nazis want tax cuts. This is where James Carville loses it. I don’t understand his reasoning. Oh yeah, they’ll vote for Nazis just to get a tax cut. Isn’t that anti-Semitic? Kind of. Kind of sounds anti-Semitic. Just saying. Welcome back to the program. Dana Lash with you. We’re at the bottom of the second hour. You can listen coast to coast and this. Let’s see. Channel 347, DirecTV, YouTube, Facebook chats at Rumble for now. The yeah, it’s a it’s a thing. I’m just I’m looking at we’re going to we’re going to continue following this bill. I know there’s a vote next Wednesday as it pertains to the rescissions package. And we’re going to we’ll cover that because you have the big, beautiful bill separate from the rescissions package and the big, beautiful bill. That’s the thing that’s in the Senate. And then that’s going to have to kick back over. Can I touch really quickly on this Korean Jean-Pierre book? So, Kane, what’s the count? How many votes? of these former staffers have now written books? Oh, wow.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s a good question, I think. Well, if you count Jake Tapper as a former staffer, because some people do.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, he was in the Clinton camp.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 12 :
For sure.
SPEAKER 06 :
But… Oh, he was in the Biden camp.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, no, I know, but he actually literally worked on the Clinton campaign. So Karine Jean-Pierre has announced that she’s written a book about the broken Biden White House and what she sees as the betrayal of Biden by the Democrat Party. And she apparently thought, well, other people thought she was apparently totally incompetent. Democrats thought she was incompetent. And now her book, it’s called Independent, A Look Inside a Broken White House Outside the Party Lines. She announces that she’s leaving the Democrat Party and she’s got a new book out. Oh, it’s totally thirsty. It’s completely thirsty. First off, no one believes that she’s smart enough to write a book, number one. Number two, no one believes that this was all organic. She is just pivoting because she’s seeing which way the wind blows. The money-making opportunities for talking people on the left are going to be moving to the center that’s going to be the thing for them because that pendulum is swinging back to you know towards the other way and so they’re not going to make money by being on the left they’re going to make money by being centrists that’s what it is and they’re going to go to the center of things and that’s going to be their grift for a while i don’t know how you can do that i really don’t know i don’t know how you can profess ideas that you actually don’t hold and act like it’s a big thing right I don’t get it. I told you guys at the end of the show yesterday that we had an offer from a group to read ads for them, and they’re doing a $4 million ad buy across numerous states, and they wanted us to read copy. And they were like, we need to know your answer now. And the copy they were asking me to read was, was about making the tax cuts permanent. And I’m like, oh, well, that’s a nice thing. Who doesn’t like it? Well, then the way that I had to do some digging because they were very, very vague with their wording. And I find out that, oh, well, they want everyone to, they want me to tell people to call their lawmakers and urge the passage of the big, beautiful bill, which I don’t agree with. And it’s also a lie because the tax cuts within it, I’ve literally read it. I’ve highlighted that portion of the bill for you on my sub stack are temporary. And so I said, no, I’m not going to accept any money and I’m not going to read this thing. I’m not going to read it. I got to tell you, there is a whole industry that people will take money completely on the right and left, and they will profess ideas that are not their own. It’s really easy to see on the right. The left has been doing it for years. The right just figured out the grift. But the left has been doing it for years. But the people on the right, you can see it fairly easily. But I can’t imagine sitting and talking to you guys every day, everybody out there in the audience, whether you’re watching or listening, and professing an idea that I don’t believe in. I just either I am not either I would be a horrible actress in another life or I don’t know. I just can’t. There’s no way I can’t figure out how. And she has the whole book on it, Karine Jean-Pierre. So, Kane, what do you think? Where does she do you think that she really believed the stuff that she was when she was a member of the administration as a Democrat? Was that her real belief or is this her real belief?
SPEAKER 06 :
To be honest with you, I don’t really know. But I suspect at the time she was the White House press secretary that she was doing what she was told to do because she had zero experience in this area. She was thrust out there in front of everyone saying things like amoritis and tyranny and the Nordstrom pipeline. It was clear her experience was nil. So I think she was just a yes person and just doing what she was told to do.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah. Well, the other Democrats are really mad at her. for coming out and being like, well, ta-da! Here’s my big reveal. I’m just, I’m not mad because that means that I would have had a hope disappointed and I had none. I apply the Stoics mentality. Stoicism is a great ideology for things like this. I don’t expect anything, and I have the worst opinion of everybody. So that way I’m always pleasantly surprised.
SPEAKER 06 :
You’re right. Actually, that’s a good way to do it. I just get upset because I see how the media treats two different administrations. They gave KJP so much grace and didn’t challenge her on pretty much anything. And Carolyn Leavitt can be out there with 100% facts, and they keep pushing on her as though she’s lying.
SPEAKER 12 :
carolyn levitt is like the younger sister of sarah huckabee sanders yeah more energetic and they both have this i’m gonna pull the minivan over and beat your ass like a mentality sarah sanders i think seemed a little bit more i like her a lot she seemed a little bit more are you kidding me like i think she actually would do it um But you’re right. And oh, my gosh, some of the stuff that cage. I mean, I don’t want to relitigate it because we lived it. But they said that. So one of the pieces that I was reading about her this morning was Axios. And it said the fighting within Biden world. OK, so let’s talk for a minute about the fighting within Biden world, because right now the media only wants to focus on Trump and Musk and the coalition on the right. Now, granted, that’s a fragile coalition. I get it. That’s I’m not subtracting from that. But. Do you realize the problems are very different? And here’s why. The problem on the right is because there are a lot of people and they have a lot of ideas that are on a spectrum of good to bad. But there are a lot of people with a lot of ideas, right? There is no shortage of people or proposals. On the left, who do they have? Trying to think. Who do they have on the left? Who? Who do they have? I want you to wherever you are. I want you to just do this quick exercise with me. It’s under 60 seconds. I want you to stop for a minute. And I want you to think if Democrats had to run another candidate for president right now, who would they run? Who would even be their VP? Who would they fill in their cab? Who would they have in their cabinet? If Democrats had to have a Speaker of the House, a legitimate speaker who was not a moron and actually understood parliamentary procedure, who would they be able to have in the House even? Because Pelosi’s actually too old. I mean, think of all of these important benchmarks. They don’t have anybody. They don’t have anybody. They’re having an existential crisis right now. They lied to their base. Said, no, this old fart is totally fit to run. He’s a fit old fart. He’s ready to run. Oh, wait, no, he’s not. We’re going to switch him out. And we’re going to put Kamala, who is completely not ready for primetime. And she won’t ever be ready for primetime. She is a total nepo baby. Kamala Harris has been given handout after handout after handout. Has she ever actually had to run for a seat? Because I think she’s been appointed to everything her whole life. I mean, aside from when she was on the presidential ticket, but that’s, you know, she was just sort of dead weight there. Everything, she was groomed, everything was handed to her because she checked all these boxes. She just, what she lacked in personality, substance, smarts, and any kind of presence, she made up for in spades with, you know, favors and nepotism and handouts. So, now… Instead of admitting that they went along with this whole grift, now they’re all trying to write books on, oh, no, I, too, was surprised. What do you mean you were surprised? You were there from the beginning. You were in that man’s pocket. How are you surprised? Like, I’m looking at this and they said, oh, man, and they’re coming for her with knives out. I think people are not going to read her book. I predict that her book will not be a bestseller because, A, girlfriend did not write this book. This is a ghostwritten book. B, well, listen to this. She had meltdowns after any interview that asked about a topic not sent over by producers. That’s one source. She was the most ineffectual and unprepared person I’ve ever worked with. That’s another source. She didn’t know how to manage a team, how to shape or deliver a message, and created more problems than she solved, said another. Another one. The hubris of thinking you can position yourself as an outsider when you’ve not only enjoyed the perks of extreme proximity to power, which bestows the name recognition needed to sell books off your name, but have actively wielded it from the biggest pulpit there is, is as breathtaking as it is desperate, and it’s difficult to see how this is anything but a bizarre cash grab. Another one. The amount of time that was spent coddling her and appeasing her was astronomical compared to our attention on actual matters of substance. Oh my gosh. Wow. Wow. Oh man. Oh, their quotes are coming still. Oh, oh, oh. And there’s a lot of receipts apparently. Hmm, like one of them said this is my favorite quote from her and it was apparently something that she had herself on Instagram quote We need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes Yeah How is she different from Kamala it’s like they share the same brain cell oh My gosh So now the chat thinks it’ll be Newsom and Moore, Gavin Newsom, Wes Moore. Newsom is almost ready for primetime, but there’s a lot of his baggage that I don’t know if it’s going to stand up to national scrutiny. That’ll be a big one. But who do they have? That’s the existential crisis on the left. All these people, I’ve never seen so many people in a presidential administration rushing out to write things. smack about their former boss. Not even with Trump. You didn’t even have this many people running out writing this many books under Trump this first term. That’s pretty unbelievable. You didn’t have anybody with Obama. I always am going to tell you that it’s incredibly important to make sure I think you should carry. I think you should train. I think you should carry. And I have no problem using lethal force to defend myself or my loved ones. The issue is that In some instances, we’re blocked from being able to adequately defend ourselves, whether it is due to a municipal restriction, whether it’s due to private property rules, whatever. And I especially worry for college kids that are too young to carry a handgun, but also want to be able to protect themselves if they’re walking to their car or whatever. This is where the burner gun comes in. Now, if you compare this to regular like stun guns, you got one or two rounds there. Burner gives you five rounds. It shoots chemical irritant projectiles that can stop threats from up to 50 feet away. There’s no recoil. It’s legal in all 50 states. There’s no background check. It does not care about gun free zone signs. It can be shipped directly to your front door. It is accessible anywhere. to everyone. There’s two versions specifically that I think you should check out. They’ve got rifles in that, but I think you need to look at for this purpose, the Berna SD or the Berna CL. That’s their new one, CL stands for Compact Launcher, and it’s actually 38% smaller than than the SD, which is their best-selling defensive model. And everything is proudly made in the USA. Visit Burna.com. Check out your options. There’s different colors. There’s different accessories and so much more. Get your hands on the new Burna CL. B-Y-R-N-A.com slash Dana Burna. SPEAKER 05 :
It’s his life mission to make bad decisions. It’s time for Florida Man.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh my gosh, this story’s horrifying. And the man’s mugshot is even… Florida Man pleads guilty to stealing pool floats for sexual gratification. For what? For personal, romantical times. With a pool float. 41-year-old Christopher Monin. Apparently he’s had several pool float theft related incidents over the years. He stored, oh my gosh, 75 of them in a vacant house. And yeah, he would steal only the pool floats. He would enter the victim’s back pool area or cut through screens or whatever and steal them. He admitted via smoking gun what it was for. Now he’s on what they call a community control sentence, which is an intensive form of probation. That’s like house arrest. I mean, he apparently told the police that he uses the floats instead of raping women. Can we kill him? Is it all right if we just murk him off the earth? Can we do that? Because I feel like it’s a matter of time.
SPEAKER 06 :
Was it like all a certain kind of floaty?
SPEAKER 12 :
They didn’t get into it, but I’m imagining things that he can mount, if you’re asking me, which I hope you’re not. Florida man sues Universal for $50,000 after a Harry Potter ride malfunctioned and left him stranded midair for an hour. An hour. I’m just wondering, is that what his time is worth? $50,000 for an hour? So he was stranded. His name is Casey Cossie. Of course it is. He said he suffered mental anguish. I just got anguish from his name. That he suffered mental anguish. He was on this park ride and he came to an abrupt stop. It strained the car mid-air at an angle that left him tilted backward and to the right. And it took an hour for him to be removed from it and put into an upright position. So he’s suing on two counts, premises liability and negligence. Well, I get it. They said that it had similar problems in the past. Fifty thousand dollars. I’m just wondering what that’s for. I mean, do I think that they probably are going to have to pay up? Yeah, but fifty thousand seems I don’t know. A Florida man hits an alligator, flips over the bike and slides across the freeway. Oh, my gosh. Two motorcyclists struck a six foot gator. On Interstate 4 in Volusia County, one was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, or both were, and they’re now recovering. They recounted the crash, and apparently they had it on, they had a little helmet camera, and you could see it. I mean, it happened so fast. And they’re recovering. The gator was injured, and they had to have Florida Fish and Wildlife come and deal with the gator. They thought it was a big blob on the road at first, and it was a gator. And the guy said, help me, Jesus. So they’re okay, and the gator, I guess, they don’t know the total, the extent of the injuries, but I think they’re rehabilitating it. That’s all we know. Good night. That’s, mm-mm. Let’s see here. Oh, no, not that one. Not going to do that one. This one, nope, we had that one. Nope, I don’t, oh, my gosh, okay. Oh no, these are so gross. This is the most innocent one I can use. A Florida man was caught on camera using a Ormond Beach car wash as a bathroom. Yeah, he was defecating in the car wash. And it was all caught on security footage. And he used the towels that they would. Oh, my gosh. The story gets grosser and grosser. Yeah, it was on West Granada Boulevard. It was an Ormond Beach car wash. And apparently a guy, 80-year-old man, relieved himself beside his car in the vacuuming area and then did a deuce and then used the towels that they used to wipe off the car and then threw it like it was just another windshield wipe into the basket of all the other towels. that’s gross third hour’s on the way that’s that describes congress as we move our partners the folks over at super barine you guys know about super beats uh helps with healthy blood pressure support but super marine this is a brand new product from the same people doctor formulated plant-based with a unique form of berberine and italian olive fruit extract for additional antioxidant cardiovascular support and it delivers nearly 10 times higher absorption than standard berberine this means fewer pills to swallow You get the metabolism and healthy blood sugar support that all those benefits in one highly concentrated. I don’t know of any police department that routinely wears masks. We know that there are other groups that routinely wear masks. NSC 131 routinely wears masks. Mayor, just to clarify, are you comparing ICE, you said, to NSC 131, the neo-Nazi group? Are you comparing them to a neo-Nazi group? What I said is that Boston Police and no police department that I know of at the local level routinely wears masks.
SPEAKER 12 :
I mean, she literally just gave a press conference the other day where she’s giving press conferences wearing masks. So is she a neo-Nazi? Just curious. What are they going to do? Didn’t she mask up? Wasn’t she one of those people that encouraged everybody to mask up during the RONA? It’s so ridiculous.
SPEAKER 06 :
Also, she’s consistently for the criminals. She’s never for her safety of the constituents, for the safety of those people. No. No, she never was. It’s always the criminal.
SPEAKER 12 :
Never was. It’s always neo-Nazis. You know, by the way, remember, the reason why they, that border agents are having to protect their privacy is because the left has helped encourage cartels to go after them. Yep. I mean, it’s kind of a big deal. So they actually have to because cartels have been targeting border agents and their families and putting out, you know, bolos on them. Welcome back to the program. Top of this third hour. Dana Lash with you. You can listen coast to coast as well. Coming up, we’ve got, when do we have Congressman Massey on?
SPEAKER 06 :
In 24 minutes and some change.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay. I was just looking at the rundown. Okay. So very interesting. We’ll have a discussion with him coming up. There’s a lot of stuff that happened today. And we’ve got a vote on rescissions next week. And we have this battle over the big, beautiful bill right now. It’s a lot happening. But in the meantime, we have an update about, you know, that terrorist who’s in who who set people on fire, by the way. Lorena is a great piece up over at Substack chapter and verse for you subscribers. They released more details about that terror attack in Boulder. Remember the guy who was here illegally? He’s not a neo-Nazi, apparently, according to the Boston mayor. Fifteen people now injured, including eight women, seven men, between the ages of 25 and 88, and one dog. The dog. The terrorist told police that he had planned this for over a year. And he made a video before the attack. You tell me if you think this is just a boulder dad. Audio soundbite 911.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s saying Allah is greater than F-35 planes and blah, blah, blah. He’s talking about the Zionists. So he made this video. Put it on F. I guess he wanted his family to do terrorism too. I don’t want to get rid of it.
SPEAKER 12 :
This guy was an absolute, I mean, he’s evil. And he set Jewish people on fire. He was going to do a heck of a lot more. He was carefully researching his targets. He had dressed as a groundskeeper. He even bought plants from Home Depot to really sell the idea. And then when enough of the crowd had gathered, Lorraine had noted he used the hose that was on his backpack to to spray gasoline on everybody and then try to light them and then lit them up with a homemade flamethrower. When that didn’t work the way it want, he used the Molotov cocktails and he had hid those in the bushes. But then he winded up lighting himself on fire and he ripped off his shirt and his vest to get the fire off of him. That’s why he didn’t have a shirt on in the videos. And then, He said that he only threw two because he said he had never heard anybody before. And Lorraine says that she thinks it was because he got hurt because he singed himself with the fire of the Molotov cocktails. And that kind of scared him. And so he didn’t do more. And remember this guy, he was here illegally. His visa expired. Then he applied for asylum. And then Biden gave him a work visa. And then that visa expired last March. And his daughter, they’re all Egyptian nationals. And the whole family was here illegally. And DHS was going to deport them all. And you remember hearing these sob stories. The daughter was like, I wanted to study medicine in the United States. You were here illegally. You’re a grown woman. You were here illegally. And at no time did you take it upon yourself to legalize your status. So I’m sure you can study medicine in Egypt. And so they were all going to be deported. Well, then this judge stepped in. This judge, Susanna Dvortzen, or sorry, she’s the attorney. She’s the immigration attorney in Boulder, Colorado, who filed the case. But they had a judge that stepped in and was like, no, we’re not going to allow this deportation to happen. It was a Biden judge that halted the attempt. They said it could cause, quote, irreparable harm to deport them. Now, on a scale of one to 10, like setting someone on fire and then having to study medicine in Egypt instead of the U.S., how would you rate that irreparable harm? goodness and then the of course the immigration attorney in boulder is a big o socialist who elaine noted once worked as an elector for a marxist candidate in california And she also didn’t disclose a lot of stuff back in 07 and got fired from her job back then. So it sounds like a real stand up person. Makes sense that she’s defending a terrorist. But the idea, all these individuals were coming out saying that it was just so mean, Cain, that that POTUS was and DHS, they were all they wanted to deport people. this sweet daughter who we actually still don’t know the extent of her participation in all of this. But again, she’s here illegally.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, by his own admission, he cared more for Jihad than he did his own family. Yes. He said that. So it’s not, you know, we’re just accommodating his wishes.
SPEAKER 12 :
I mean, this is how USA Today wrote it. A Boulder suspect’s daughter dreamed of studying medicine and now she faces deportation. It’s so sad. Yeah, because she’s here illegally. The end. She’s been here illegally for over a year. The end. So I know I’ve told this story before, but let me just tell you how this doesn’t fly in other countries. When I used to go, I do my Fox hits from my studio here. But I used to have to go to a different studio in downtown Dallas. And they always would have a makeup artist there that would get you ready for TV. And she was always very nice. And she had a daughter who went to study art in Ireland. and she got her undergrad degree and i think it was like two month and a half two months before she graduated she got a notice from the irish government saying that they were aware that she was going to be graduating and she had x amount of days after her graduation uh to leave the country unless she was planning on staying and seeking higher education in a specialized field, at which point she would need the Irish immigration officials to sign off on her being able to stay longer legally, right? And they kept following up with her. They started calling her. She even had a visit. And then she applied and wanted to stay. She didn’t want to take graduate classes. She wanted to just stay in Ireland. And she was going to just take a couple of college classes here or there. But they said that because those Those credits didn’t count for anything towards a grad degree and it was at her same level or lower of education that they could not grant her request and so she had to leave. And they showed up. They said they were going to show up on the last day that she would allow to be here in the country legally to make sure she was leaving. And she left before that last day. But she and her in the style, the artist was saying that her daughter was a little left leaning, was just put out of sorts by that. Like she couldn’t believe that Ireland was being so mean. It’s like they have a right to do that, though. That’s their country. Like if you’re if you’re not going to stay there and really contribute and you’re just going to take a couple of same level classes, they have no obligation to continue to allow you to stay. So she ended up coming back. We don’t do that here. That’s in Ireland. Now, Ireland is a super, they’re super lefty. They’re super lefty. The People’s Republic, the Republic of Ireland, very lefty. I mean, they you know, the abortion laws, everything else. But that’s one law that they apparently weren’t really messing around with. I think that’s changed in recent years. This happened like six, seven years ago. But even then, can you imagine if we did that here? Can you imagine instead of having all these stupid immigration judges? What if it was just that nobody actually goes and sees again? If we had. Yeah, we’re going to make sure you’re leaving. There’s nothing wrong with that. She was her stay was not going to be in line with what they wanted. And so that doesn’t and they have the ultimate authority on that. That makes sense, right? No, this but this girl, she thought she could still stay. They’re still investigating the family. It would be unusual if the family wasn’t involved. And I think if you know that your dad’s a terrorist and he’s planning on killing people and you don’t say anything, you need to go anyway. I mean, you can’t sit here and tell me that. I mean, this guy is such a fanatic. You cannot tell me that they were unaware. Like, did he just, like, not talk about any of this stuff at home? Honestly. I mean, he’s sitting here saying that he cares about jihad more than his wife and kids. You tell me. You really think that this guy didn’t talk about this stuff at home? And you heard him say he had asked his wife and son to apparently do some things. And when they didn’t do it the way he wanted, he got mad. So, yeah, I’m pretty sure the family knew. They all got to go regardless. We have no obligation to keep them here. No obligation to keep them here. And the people who argue otherwise, I mean, why don’t you just go ahead and – We go back to the days of the fall of Rome when you had the Visigoths and the Goths and the Huns and the barbarians and everyone else. And Rome thought that they just had to open their doors to everyone and make everyone a citizen regardless of whatever. And they ended up doing themselves in in part because of that policy. Apparently, we don’t teach history well enough anymore so that people can learn from it. It’s asinine. Think about the last movie that you saw that inspired you and kept you thinking long after the credits rolled. Movies have the power to change individuals, communities, and culture. SPEAKER 06 :
And now, all of the news you would probably miss. It’s time for Dana’s Quick Five.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, in Idaho, the legislature apparently is… They’re going to just… Well, they passed a bill called the Truck Nuts Bill. And it’s going to go to the Idaho Supreme Court, apparently. Sorry, this is a pain in the butt. They determined it was an urgent thing. The Idaho legislature declared that an emergency existed requiring it to immediately criminalize the public exposure of body parts, including truck nuts. And people would say, oh, they are offensive. In fact, the Idaho Senate minority leader said that truck nuts were gross offensive. Kids see them on the road. So why wouldn’t the police get a call and say that offends me? Pull it off the truck. Oh, my gosh. They said it because now the bill will allow it. And police said it would. Are you serious? Are you serious? Okay. I think that there are greater… That’s dumb. There are greater problems in the world than that. I mean… I would just, that’s a great learning opportunity for your kids.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’d venture to say there’s greater problems in that city than this.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, I just can’t, I mean, I can’t believe what I’m saying. A lion killed a businessman at a luxury safari lodge in Namibia after he stepped out of the tent to use the bathroom. Yeah, that’s a big issue. The lion killed the man at this luxury lodge. He was a well-known businessman. He was camping with other tourists at this tented resort, and he was attacked after he stepped out. The other campers managed to scare off the lion, but it had already killed him at that point. Hang on, I’m trying to read this story. Police were attending the scene, and they said a full report would be submitted in due course. Boy, measles is now showing up in, oh, wastewater. I mean, are you drinking wastewater? Does that matter? They said measles cases have been rare in recent decades. Blah, blah, blah. But now they said that it’s apparently popping up in wastewater. Sorry. I’m dealing with a new element on this computer system that makes reading these stories almost impossible. So bear with me. The scientists now have the idea because I’m just getting this too long to read and fight with this thing to scroll. Let’s see. Also, Generation X has been declared the coolest generation and apparently also the happiest. I didn’t get to get this. A survey confirmed that the 80s and the 90s were rated the highest for quality of life and the generation that was shaped by those eras. So it’s a very long story that buries the lead. But by and large, they it was because of the adversity that the generation faced. And Gen X, they were the kids of boomers, although older millennials are the kids of younger boomers and older Gen X people. They can have some millennial kids, but mostly it’s Gen Z. So I’m on the I’m a young Gen X. So my kids are Gen Z. Gen Z. Well, what comes after Gen Z? Alpha. What’s after Alpha? Martians. Aliens. Sasquatches. I don’t know. Or Sasquatch.
SPEAKER 06 :
But all of us that are… We were adults by the time we were like 10 or 11.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know what I mean? Adults.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah. It’s a big thing. But it’s the adversity. That was like the common theme. And this actually dovetails with another survey that was released a couple of months ago. We had a similar headline on it. And they had the same conclusion. So coming up, Representative Thomas Massey joins us. There’s a lot to discuss, I think. Stick with us. SPEAKER 12 :
Welcome back to the program. Dana Lash with you. We’re at the bottom of this third hour. You can hear us coast to coast. Channel 347 is the stream. Joining us right now with an epic backdrop and a great facial hair, Congressman Thomas Massey, the man of the moment, representing beautiful Kentucky, Kentucky’s fourth congressional district. And it’s not like we don’t have anything to talk about. What with, you know, rescissions, pocket rescissions, the big, beautiful bill, the Trump-Musk fight. AI, everything else. Congressman, it’s good to see you. I know you’re in your favorite place in the world, Washington, D.C.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, enjoy the view until they take this office away from me. This is my office and I’m in the middle of all those fights.
SPEAKER 12 :
I know you find yourself in the middle. And I I have to say it is you know, I was talking a little bit earlier about this very fragile coalition that we have on the right. And I really feel like a lot of people on the right are kind of getting baited into this. And, you know, talking about this big, beautiful bill, I got issues with it. You have issues with it. Elon Musk has issues with it. Will you clarify something for us all? Because one of the things that I keep hearing is about tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. Correct me if I’m wrong, Congressman, but I actually went through by read the bill. I mean, I controlled F my entire way through it. But these are temporary tax cuts that are set to expire in 2028. Am I wrong?
SPEAKER 17 :
No, you’re correct. The no tax on tips, the no tax on overtime, and the tax break for seniors all expire in three years. And that’s part of the budget gimmicks that they’re using to get this thing to balance over 10 years. Because they’re going to not tax you for three years. They’re going to spend more money for three years. And then in the next seven years, they claim Well, you don’t know this unless you’ve read the bill and you have. But in the next seven years, that’s when the taxes go back up on those particular items. And there’s no spending savings back there either. That’ll give the lobbyists time enough to get another green new deal.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, man. So why are we being told that these are tax cuts and it’s going to be the greatest tax cut then?
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, I mean, for three years it will be, but when Trump leaves office, they go back up. I guess this will be a reason for you to vote for another Republican. They can promise to give you the tax cuts back. Oh, guess what? That’s what we’re doing with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. People ask me, why did they expire in 2025? Why didn’t they go for the entire 10 years of that reconciliation bill that we passed in 2017? And I say, because in 2017, we knew the deficit and debt impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was too great to justify for the entire 10 year window. But now we’re giving you those tax cuts and extension of those tax cuts. For a little while longer and the the no tax on tips and whatnot for an even shorter period of time.
SPEAKER 12 :
One of the things and you made this point, Congressman, that we keep hearing is that, well, this is reconciliation, which is, you know, we’ll talk about the rescissions proposal. But this is reconciliation and we can’t you know, we can’t cut spending in this. So we can increase it, though, but we can’t reduce it.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, so they say that reconciliation is only for mandatory spending, but you can’t touch Social Security. So it could only affect things like Medicaid and Medicare and maybe some other mandatory items that you don’t really think about being mandatory. But they found a little magic switch they can flip on and they can spend discretionary money in here. That’s what the military spending is. That’s what the border wall spending is. That’s what some of the DOJ spending is that we’ve gotten this bill. they claim they can increase discretionary spending, but they can’t decrease discretionary spending. Wow. What a magic little trick they found that only requires 51 votes in the Senate.
SPEAKER 12 :
That is amazing. Now, that’s a gimmick. Now that I would just I would say that that is a gimmick. Talking with Congressman Thomas Massey on the big, beautiful bill, which what do you expect? How is the Senate going to what are you anticipating them giving back to you all?
SPEAKER 17 :
well you know our speaker said that he went over and told the senators that he’s crossing the grand canyon on a piece of dental floss and if they disturb this bill the least little bit he’s going to fall in the canyon the bill’s not going to pass in the house i would say it’s very precariously balanced here in the house it only passed 215 to 214. i was one of the no’s and they know there’s almost no way they can improve it in the senate to get my vote although it is possible It’s just not likely. The senators, I think, are starting with a blank sheet of paper. And maybe that’s a good thing. But I doubt their bill is going to be more conservative than the House bill. I see sort of a collision coming. There are a lot of people dug in in the House. We’ve got some Republicans from blue states. The BBB should be the blue state bailout. They secured from Speaker Johnson $390 million of tax cuts for states like California and New York, where rich, affluent residents of those states can write off up to $40,000 of their state and local taxes off of their federal tax obligations. That might not be in a Senate bill if the Senate bill starts from scratch. And so you might even have a problem with moderate Republicans in the House if the Senate sends us a bill that doesn’t have that little goody in there.
SPEAKER 12 :
Wow. And that’s that’s a that was a big point of contention the last time around. I wanted to ask you, too, and I wanted to play a little soundbite for you. I had on the show yesterday, Congressman Rich McCormick, who I know is on the Cyber and Technology Subcommittee. And everyone’s been talking about this specific portion of this bill that pertains to AI, specifically whether or not states can regulate it. And from what I’ve read in the bill, it’s putting like a moratorium on states for 10 years where they can’t regulate artificial intelligence. Can we play that for Congressman Massey real quick? Yes. We have it now? Okay, let’s play it. Uniformity. Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
I think once you get to 10 years, everybody’s going to see the advantages of having no interstate interference. Just like the internet. Nobody talks about it anymore on the internet. Because why? Because it’s already fully developed and we kind of do our own thing. Whether it be 5G or cable or whatever. We understand that whatever advances quicker wins. And I think once you get past the 10 year period, people will accept that we don’t need additional regulation. We have to have certain laws, make sure we don’t have deep fakes or or distort the truth.
SPEAKER 12 :
So one of the things that he mentioned in this audio soundbite, and I don’t know if that was clear for you to hear, Congressman, is because I asked Representative McCormick about it. I said, well, isn’t that kind of dangerous to take that power away from the states? where shouldn’t they be able to have you know 10th amendment that sovereignty to be able to regulate it he brought up the interstate commerce and i thought he made a couple of points i’m not entirely convinced yet but you know i’m open to being persuaded by good you know good information where do you stand on this issue
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, you know, they used to ask Ron Paul, did he read those thousand page bills before he voted no? And he said, no, I get about three or four pages in and find something unconstitutional and I can quit reading because I don’t need to read the rest of the bill. I am prefacing what I’m about to tell you because I’m almost embarrassed to tell you this. I went back and read that provision of the bill, knowing that you might ask about it on the show. And I found something I didn’t find the first time. which is they say in that bill, not only are they going to override state laws, they want to override state or local zoning laws. Now, what does this mean? When you think of AI, OK, well, we’re not going to regulate the software that runs on somebody’s computer. No, what they’re talking about are these data centers that could be located in your neighborhood. And there’s been a lot of contention over these data centers. I think that’s what the real intent of this part of the bill is. Facebook and some of these other big tech companies have met the, not in my backyard, the NIMBY resistance in areas. And AI wants to make sure that they don’t run into that. These data facilities can use a lot of water, use a lot of energy, and they don’t want the locals telling them where they can and can’t put these data centers. They’re going to want the data centers closest to where the consumers are. And so you’re going to have that tension. And I think I know. I went back and read the bill before I came on your show. This specific part says that they want to expedite the zoning and the routing, that the reason they put this law in there is to expedite zoning and routing. Routing also is basically code for eminent domain, running those wires, you know, these big fiber optic cables through anybody’s yard they want to. I think it’s really dangerous to take that power away. This has been an issue in my congressional district. And the local authorities were able to get a planned data center relocated away from the residential neighborhoods, but they wouldn’t have that power if this bill passes.
SPEAKER 12 :
What you just said just immediately dovetailed with something that we had happen here in Texas, in Austin, because they have been fighting for local control for zoning and routing. The very things that you mentioned, in fact, we just lost a big battle in Austin, Texas, over this, over municipalities, over different towns, being able to determine their zoning, et cetera. And I thought that that was such a weird fight for Austin to pick right now out of all times. But what you just said now makes all the sense in the world. Holy cow. That just hit. Wow. That’s amazing. So that’s that that’s what you caught in this. So obviously, you know, going by what you said just a little moment ago with, you know, with the Ron Paul context that there’s one bad thing in this, then it’s bad.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, you know, everything up here is a crap sandwich. I just wish I had two slices of bread and a pickle. And I could even do without the pickle. The problem is that I just don’t see enough bread to compensate for the crappiness. this thing and it’s going to I mean I can be pragmatic I voted for a farm bill once because they put my legislation to legalize industrial hemp in it that was in 2013 so I mean I’m not pure as the wind driven snow I have voted for crap sandwiches but give me a pickle or a slice of bread this one has too much crap and it’s going to add to the deficit those who tell you that it’s deficit neutral can do so with a straight face and not be lying because five years from now it starts to balance but here’s the problem with those promises five years from now there’s going to be an intervening presidential election and two intervening congressional elections between now and then and the lobbyists will know exactly what they got to work on between now and then and five years from now Dana When the money-saving provisions start kicking in, they’ll call it a fiscal cliff. They’ll say, oh my gosh, this previous Congress set up this situation where we’re going to have to spend less money on these projects and we’re going to have taxes go up. This will kill the economy. They’ll call it a fiscal cliff when we get to it.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, boy. That sounds exactly like what almost that’s a cycle at this point. It’s so predictable. Talking with Congressman Thomas Massey, I want to ask you really quickly with a couple of minutes that we have left. So the rescissions package, I mean, it seems like a step in the right direction, but it’s what, nine point four billion. That’s that’s is that what we spend in a day and a half? That seems like our federal spending in a day and a half. So that is nothing really.
SPEAKER 17 :
It’s not much. I say these are billion-dollar solutions to our trillion-dollar problems, which is to say it’s not going to solve the problem that the reconciliation bill does not address or exacerbates. In the reconciliation bill, we’re talking about deficits of trillions of dollars for the next 10 years. And with the rescissions, we can save, the first rescission package is gonna save, like you said, $9 billion. Now I went through and read what those rescissions are. Those are great things. I’m so excited. I am almost beside myself in disbelief that my colleagues are going to vote to cut funding for the United Nations and the World Health Organization. Like if we pull this off, it’s going to be awesome. But again, those are notational gestures. at solving our debt and deficit crisis, but it’s really good stuff to cut. They go in line by line. I just wonder who funded those things line by line. Oh wait, that was my Republican colleagues when they did the continuing resolution and the omnibuses before that. Those are pet projects that somebody got caught red-handed with.
SPEAKER 12 :
Exactly. Do you think that the pocket rescission strategy would be successful if that’s attempted?
SPEAKER 17 :
I don’t know. Again, I hate to turn it over to the courts. That’s where it’ll end up, I think, if Congress doesn’t weigh in. So I would prefer bring all these to the House of Representatives and the Senate. Again, it only requires 51 votes. We could be talking about other ways of rescinding if we didn’t have control of both chambers. But since we have control of both chambers, we don’t need to try any fancy ways of doing this. Just go straight up the middle. The field is clear.
SPEAKER 12 :
Last question for you, Congressman. I know that you have. You made POTUS mad and now he says that you should be primaried. But you got a lot of support in your district, more support than I would say certain Republican primary presidential candidates had received. Are you worried about being primaried? I mean, I don’t I do. They want a big spender to take your place. I just look at it like you’re trying to deliver on the promises that were made during the campaign. And I think that’s kind of important to voters. Does it make you nervous that the president is mad at you?
SPEAKER 17 :
It doesn’t make me nervous for two reasons. Number one, the president, he gets mad, but then he can get over it, okay? And I think there’s plenty of chances between now and my next election for him to see that the original Make America Great Again Make America healthy again candidate what he’s proposing. I’ve been for for the last ten years Okay, I just don’t see it in these bills and that’s what’s got him a little bit upset right now So there’s there’s a chance for things to change and the other reason I’m not too worried as I tell people I have Trump antibodies from a natural infection in 2020 where he came after me and told me he was going to come at me like never before. And he called me a third rate grandstander. And eight weeks later, and that was for opposing the CARES Act, another multi-trillion dollar bill that we couldn’t afford. And I predicted it would have caused inflation, and it did. But eight weeks after that, I got 81% of the vote in my primary. Now, I had to raise a lot of money and work hard. I prefer not to work that hard to get reelected, but I’m ready to do it if I have to.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I think you guys are, I mean, as you said, I think you’d be natural allies. And so I hope that the president sees that. And also, I mean, this bill, I mean, going by what Speaker Johnson said this morning, that’s been in the works for 14 months. Well, heck, POTUS has only been there for five. So, I mean, he doesn’t even have to take any credit for any of this or any responsibility for it. He can say it’s a swamps bill.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, and there are some swampy provisions in there like the AI thing. Who stuck that in there? Some tech company that doesn’t want these local authorities keeping them from putting their data centers in your cul-de-sacs. Yep. So, you know, I think Trump just wants the deal done. What might eventually happen, Dana, is the whole thing blows up. We have to skinny it down and just, you know, do some tax cuts, do some basic spending cuts, take out all of the other crap the lobbyists tried to get in here at the last second. And it might be something that I could vote for.
SPEAKER 12 :
