In this week’s episode of Rush to Reason, host John Rush dives into the critical connection between financial health and overall well-being. With tax day just behind us, financial expert Al Smith joins the show to dissect how managing your finances effectively can alleviate unnecessary stress and contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Whether it’s understanding different IRA contributions or planning for retirement, Al offers insightful advice on steering clear of financial pitfalls and ensuring a stress-free future.
SPEAKER 12 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 10 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 12 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 16 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 17 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 08 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 08 :
I am Hans. And I am Franz. And we just want to pop your ass.
SPEAKER 12 :
Welcome to Health and Wellness Wednesdays on Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 10 :
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through lifestyle.
SPEAKER 11 :
I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem. I used to grab bear claws as a kid, two at a time, and I’d get them lodged right in this region here.
SPEAKER 02 :
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.
SPEAKER 15 :
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m sorry that I’m fat. All right, welcome Health and Wellness Wednesday edition, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. And I appreciate you joining us today. Myself, Charlie Grimes, Al Smith, who hung around from his show about a half an hour ago, is joining us now, Golden Eagle Financial, because financial health, Al, has a lot to do with either too much stress, less stress. There’s all sorts of things, financially speaking, that really do contribute to your overall well-being, and it’s partially why we have you here on a monthly basis.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, I’m happy to be here, John, and I think having a comfortable financial picture for your own growth toward retirement and so forth makes it easier to remain healthy also. someone is stressed for financial reasons, it’s also difficult to maintain good health. That financial anxiety is not a good thing.
SPEAKER 09 :
You are 100% correct. One thing that I wanted to touch on today because yesterday was… tax day and a reminder of, you know, deductions and different things and so on. And some of you may have even filed, you know, extensions that, you know, you can then run through. I think it’s October 15th now, although if you owed, and I said this yesterday, if you owed, you still needed to get your tax payment in within 10% of what your actual dollar amount is, and then anything else that you were going to do for deductions, of course, had to have been done in 2024 for 2025, with the exception, by the way, of IRA contributions. You can always make those all the way up to the 15th of April, and Al, that was a reminder today with you being here that folks… sometimes can make a lump sum. Some people have that ability to where they’ve saved up all year long. They can make a one lump sum contribution to their IRA. A lot of others, though, will contribute on a monthly basis throughout the year. Maybe they do a quarterly payment or however. My point is, depending upon you and your tax situation and so on, you may be missing out. Some of the folks listening may be missing out on some of that because This is where you come into play and really sit down with them and determine tax-wise what works best for them. But point being is there is some tax savings, if you would, on certain types of IRAs and how you contribute, correct?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, you’re absolutely right. And not a lot of people who have kids in college or they’re paying for braces or one thing or another can write a check for $7,000 or $8,000. But with some budgeting, they can set aside $600 or $700, whatever the amount amounts to, so that Someone and his or her spouse can each set aside $7,000 toward their IRA. And like anything else, it needs some planning and some budgeting.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 18 :
And I know when I sit down with people in retirement who have a very healthy nest egg, many of them did not earn enormous amounts during their lifetimes, but they lived frugally and they were disciplined.
SPEAKER 09 :
So they lived below their means, meaning they were very disciplined in a lot of areas. And now, given that they’ve done all of that, it gives them the ability to, I don’t want to say be less disciplined now, Al, because those people typically are very disciplined even on through their quote-unquote retirement or elder years. But point being, they did things that got them to where they are today, which… For even a lot of folks that earn a lot of money but spend every dime they make, those folks might actually – it’s kind of like that tortoise and hare story. You know, that old tortoise does pretty well when it’s all said and done, and this is kind of an example of that, right?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, it really is. A financial firm that I used to work with, they even had two investment portfolios. They had a tortoise and a hare.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 18 :
And I thought that was very interesting. Okay. Something else that’s interesting is some of the people I’ve met who have a significant nest egg but have always lived frugally, they have sons and daughters that say, Mom, Dad, go on a cruise.
SPEAKER 09 :
Go spend that money.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, exactly. You know, we’re doing good. We don’t need it. We’d like to see you enjoy your retirement a little bit more.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Which, kudos to those kids, by the way, for saying so, because there’s a lot of kids out there that would be just the opposite, and they would be a little angry if mom and dad are spending some of what they think could be their money on down the road. So kudos to those kids for doing that. And I have had similar situations throughout the years, Al, along those lines, where it’s like, guys… You know, both both, you know, both sides of the equation, mine and the wife’s, you know, you go do what you need to do. We’re going to be fine no matter what on our end. So you go enjoy what you’ve built and what you’ve earned and what you’ve done through life. And, you know, don’t worry about leaving it behind. You go you go do what you need to do and enjoy life, because at the end of the day, you earned it.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, exactly. Mom, Dad, you got $2 million in your nest egg. Buy a new truck.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. Enjoy that before you’re not here any longer because you’re not taking it with you, right? What’s that old saying, Al? There’s no big wagons behind the hearse?
SPEAKER 18 :
No, there are no hearses pulling into the pearly gates, so to speak. And when they lower people in there, and I couldn’t help, I can’t remember all the details of where I heard it, but there was a burial taking place on some really, really loose ground, and the pallbearers fell in.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, I saw that this last week. Oh, yeah, not good, not good. That was a true story. It just happened not that long ago. But back to those of you that are listening and you’re thinking, okay, what ways do I have of preparing for those latter years of life? And, again, retirement, that can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. It’s kind of a – I’m looking at a box of tissue here. We call tissue Kleenex. It’s really a brand name, Kleenex is. There’s all sorts of quote unquote tissues out there, Al. So when I say retirement, it’s sort of like calling a box of tissues Kleenex. Retirement means something different For everybody out there, some may actually retire and not do anything. Some may want to just go and play golf every day. Some may want to volunteer at their church or other organizations. Some may want to go ahead and keep working, but maybe not work as hard as they once were. Point being, it’s a little bit different for everybody, meaning, and you and I talk about this a lot, there’s not a one-size-fits-all when it comes to getting there financially.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, that is so true, and some of the people I meet are doing fine financially, but they haven’t sat down and thought, well, how do I want to spend my time? I’ve been working 50 hours a week, and I have this healthy nest egg, and now I’m not sure how I want to spend my time. Is my wife going to be able to put up with me being homeless? All week long. And so creating a plan for what you want to do, if you want to give back, if you want to volunteer, if you want to spend time with your grandkids, that deserves as much planning as your wealth accumulation.
SPEAKER 09 :
Agreed. If you don’t have that plan, I encourage you, get with Al. He’ll sit down with you. You guys can devise a plan, and this isn’t something that’s done in one sitting. There’s different questions and things that need to go back and forth, and you need to probably even take some of that back home and have discussions among your own family as to what you want to do, answer some of the questions even Al just asked a moment ago, and then make some determinations as to, okay, this is the direction we want to head. Sit down with Al again, get that plan devised, and then, Al, I know the one thing that you do is help them stick to the plan.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, that’s most important. If we establish a plan but don’t have a follow-up plan to see if the plan’s working, then that’s not too good. That’s sort of like a checklist for the maintenance on your vehicle.
SPEAKER 09 :
But you never do.
SPEAKER 18 :
You don’t refer to the checklist.
SPEAKER 09 :
You never do. You never read that owner’s manual in the glove box, those sorts of things. Yeah. Folks, again, Al Smith, you can find him at klzradio.com. You can also find him at rushtoreason.com, drive-radio.com. Pretty much anywhere you find me, you’re going to find Al as well. And, Al, give him your phone number in case we want to call you directly.
SPEAKER 18 :
303-744-1128. You will either reach me or my office manager or sometimes voicemail, but I return those voicemail calls very promptly.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. Al, as always, I appreciate you very much. Happy Easter as well.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, God bless you. John, you have a very happy Easter also.
SPEAKER 09 :
And thank you for permitting me to be on your show. You’re very welcome, Al. I appreciate you being a supporter of what we do. And again, guys, give Al a call, klzradio.com. Veteran Windows and Doors coming up next. And Dave can help you with all of your window and door needs. And don’t forget, 35% off up to three windows or under. Four windows or more, it’s 40% off, and if you go to replace a door, that is 45% off. Windows you’ll install for free, and the door is at his cost. Give Dave a call today. Find him at klzradio.com. All right, and we’ll get you that here in just one moment. So let me do this. I’ll just kind of stack these up as Charlie’s getting ready to run all of these. Safe boxes will be coming up in a moment as well. $15 a month, as I always say, better than a bank. And it’s safeboxdeposits.com. And then after them will be milehighcoin.com. And again, they go together because you may want to take your valuables and actually put them in that safe deposit box on the same token. You may want to know what those valuables are worth. And by the way, all of this ties back into Al Smith at Golden Eagle Financial. But Mile High Coins, 720-370-3400.
SPEAKER 19 :
Veteran Windows and Doors knows that other companies only care about getting the sale. Those companies sell you on emotions, pressuring you to sign today to get the best price, but they don’t even know about the critical energy codes and ratings of the windows. Dave Bancroft, owner of Veteran Windows and Doors, guarantees he will get you the right windows and doors designed specifically for your home without the ridiculous sales tactics and needless pressuring. Don’t deal with just the sales rep. Work with Dave. For the month of April, when you buy up to three windows, enjoy 35% off. Buy four or more windows, you’ll receive 40% off, all with free installation. Just go to klzradio.com.

Listen online, klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 09 :
And we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Health and Wellness Wednesday, Shanisty Ireland joining us now. Shanisty, welcome back. How are you?
SPEAKER 20 :
Hey, John. I’m doing well. How are you doing today?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m good. It’s really good to hear from you. I appreciate you joining us. It’s been far too long since you’ve been with us. We’ve got several things coming up, though, that will involve snacking and so on. And by the way, there’s always something going on. I get it. We’ve got NFL draft. We’ve got, of course, NBA playoffs or MLB baseball and all sorts of things going on. Hockey. I mean, reality is there’s still a lot of get-togethers that people will do. And then, of course, we then start to get into… the spring and summer months and Memorial Day and so on. We’ll have to get you back as we get closer to some of that. But talk to us about some of those things and some great snacks and things that people can do. And we’re always, as you know, health conscious and making sure that folks are doing the best they can. But I’m not naive enough to know, Shanice, that there’s going to be times where people kind of go off the deep end, if you would, for certain events.
SPEAKER 20 :
I love these are the deep end. Absolutely. Because you know what? Honestly, John, winter’s been a long season. Yes, it has. People are ready to get outside. They’re ready to get together. As you mentioned, we’ve got a variety of sports events coming up. But, you know, if you’re going to be hosting anything, I always advise everyone to first and foremost figure out what kind of gathering you’re going to have. Is this going to be just a small little watch party where you’re going to have a few appetizers? Are you going to be serving a meal? And ask your guests when they’re going to be coming, ask them to bring something. You know, have them bring chips and salsa. It could be really simple. Have them bring little appetizers. John, my favorite way to entertain nowadays is just with bite-sized appetizers. I think it’s just so much easier that way. And it gives people a variety of options when it comes to eating and drinking. That’s for sure.
SPEAKER 09 :
Makes total sense. And I like what you said, too, a moment ago of, you know, Sit down and really figure out what’s this party, quote unquote, going to look like and entail. You know, you’re going to have five people there or 25 or 50. I mean, some of these get pretty big. So, again, I’m with you. Figure out exactly what you’re going to be doing. Is it just for the family? You’re going to be having some other family folk over. And I think the other thing, too, Shanisty, which is something you and I have never really chatted about, and that is a lot of times people will have other people bring things or people say, hey, what can I bring? Well, we can. We’re going to give some ideas on that today where even if somebody says, hey, what can I bring? You know, we’ll throw some things at them today.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, absolutely. And when people ask that, I think as a host, I always feel this way. Oh, nothing. Just bring yourselves. Well, in these times with this economy and some of these rising food costs, it’s not terrible to say, that’s wonderful. Why don’t you bring an appetizer? Or, hey, can you just bring a six-pack of seltzers or whatever it may be? There’s nothing wrong with that because if people are asking, honestly, they want to bring something.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 20 :
You are generous enough to open up your home and your space to them, so they want to be included in the process of bringing something, for sure.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, and I think the other thing about that, not to get off on a rabbit trail, Shanna, Steve, but I think when you tell people no, you’re in some ways giving them or doing a disservice, if you would, to them. Because to your point a moment ago, they really do want to be involved. They want to help. They want to be a part of what’s going on. And in most cases, to your point, if they’re asking, then go ahead and let them know what they can bring. And, you know, again, no, you don’t have to give them a laundry list of, you know, bring this, this, this, this, and this. No, I mean, to your point, you know, pick a couple small things out that you know they might feel comfortable bringing and let them do it.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, and because when somebody tells me no, my immediate thought is, oh, is my food not good enough? Yeah, yeah. Is what I’m going to bring not going to be good enough for you? Because honestly, I like to show off some of my recipes. I like to show off, and I think people like to bring something. Maybe it’s a family recipe or it’s something unique. Or as you mentioned, keeping the health conscious in mind, it’s something that may be keto-friendly or packed with protein or has a little bit of collagen added to it. And people may think, hey, this is really great. What is it? And they might be surprised to know it’s a secret ingredient or something like that.
SPEAKER 09 :
Great point. So, all right. So along those lines, give us some ideas. And we’ve had some great people that we’ve been involved with literally now, Shanisty, over the past several years that we’ll talk about today. But give us some ideas on what folks can make.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, the first one I want to talk about is Rayburn Sandwiches. John, I know I’ve talked about this brand on your show before. I’m still a firm believer in it because they’re bakery soft buns. They’re really simple. They’ve got this beef and cheddar melt that I’m obsessed with. They have a chicken ranch melt as well. And then they have, of course, the Philly cheesesteak. And what I love about it is you pop it into the microwave for 90 seconds, and it does not taste like a frozen sandwich.
SPEAKER 09 :
It does not. I’ll attest to that for all of you listening. They do not taste like that at all.
SPEAKER 20 :
Absolutely. And they’re very affordable, too. And what I love to do is, John, I love to just cut them in half or cut them into thirds and serve them on a platter with other things such as dip and chips and that kind of thing. So that’s really something quick and easy. And that’s something somebody could bring. And another brand that I love talking about on your show is Southern Recipe Small Batch Pork Rinds. I love these pork rinds. They have a variety of different flavors. They’ve got the spicy dill and the hot honey and they have the pineapple and all sorts of different flavors and you can do a lot with these pork rinds. You can quite literally crush them up, put them on a salad or perhaps you can have a baked potato bar. There can be a topping on that. You can go as far as to use them in place of breadcrumbs and coat your chicken with them and
SPEAKER 09 :
You can even have a fish fry, and you can coat those and use those instead of… Actually, if you want a little flavor on your Rayburns, just open that up and crush them up and put a little bit on your Rayburn sandwich as well. It doesn’t work too bad either.
SPEAKER 20 :
Absolutely. Just crush it up. And then also you can just serve it with your dips as well because it’s crunchy. It’s a little bit on the healthier side because it is packed with the protein and the collagen and they’re oven baked and they’re not fried. And they taste really splendid and really delicious. That’s for sure.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know what? You are 100% correct. The other thing, too, for a lot of you listening that you may think there’s a lot of, and I’m not a cook by any means, Shanice, I’m not you. You’re not my wife. I’m not as talented as you guys are. But what I do know is there’s a lot of recipes, salads and so on, where it will require like some of the shoestring potatoes and things like that. These pork rinds can take the place of those things in those recipes very easily.
SPEAKER 20 :
For sure. And the beauty of it is, is it can just be a side item. I’m all about these DIY bars, such as a baked potato bar, or even if you’re going to be having drinks out there, do it yourself because people will add their own topping. Some people may absolutely hate bacon bits or they may hate sour cream. And so if you’re going to have a baked potato bar, you can have all of those items on there and then you can absolutely… absolutely have the pork rinds there too. And if somebody asks, yeah, crush them up, stick them on there. It gives a really delicious crunch and really adds to the profile of the flavor as well.
SPEAKER 09 :
For those of you listening, we’re going to stick some of these recipes that we’ve also got, which we always have in our show notes. I’ll put those up a little later so you guys have the ability to see those. And again, for all of you that are listening, there may be some things coming up with the draft next week, which we’ll do our special draft day show next Wednesday. For all of you listening, we will not have health and wellness that day. My boys and Andy, they all do a draft day special. Shanna, Steve, actually do a great job. They’re not… How should I say this? They’re not sports talk show hosts on a regular basis, but I will tell you they do as well as any of the guys out there on a local or national level, and we get comments every year. These guys are spot on. They do really well with their picks, and it’s always a fun time. So those of you that are listening, you can look forward to that next Wednesday. But some of you might even have some big draft parties and things like that. These are things that we’re talking about that can help you with those things.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, absolutely. And I mean, as we talked about to start this off, there’s so much going on. I love springtime. It just gives us a really good excuse to get together with folks. Come out of hibernation. Enjoy life again.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s right. That’s right. Shanice, how do folks find you?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, head over to Instagram. It’s just at Shanisty Ireland. I’ve got a lot of even Easter holidays, Easter recipes up there, a lot of things for the springtime, just a lot of fun parenting tips, too, because, you know, I’ve got five kids, and it’s just crazy here.
SPEAKER 09 :
You have a crazy—I don’t know how you do what you do and even have the time to spend with us with everything you’ve got going on, but I appreciate you taking time and joining us, Shanisty.
SPEAKER 20 :
Thank you so much for having me on, and hopefully we’ll chat again soon.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, well, I would love that. Appreciate you very much.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay, bye-bye.
SPEAKER 09 :

All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Our next guest joining us now, Nick Reed. Nick, welcome. How are you? Hey, John, I’m doing fantastic. How are you doing today? I am great. I’m happy to have you on. And for those of you listening, Nick and I met each other through some other mutual family and friends that we have had together and glad to get to know Nick on a more personal basis. And Nick, you have got several things we’re going to talk about today. But to start with, you’re big into the health, fitness end of things, and you have got an app called that you are almost ready to, well, and correct me if I’m wrong, almost ready to fully launch. It’s in beta now, or is it fully ready?
SPEAKER 05 :
It is in beta. The app store on Apple is really difficult to get into. They’ve come back with some restrictions. It’s actually launched on Google, but we’re in the last phase of getting it onto the Apple.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. So for those of you listening, this will be available on all platforms in the not-too-distant future. Nick, tell us about Rise Up, and it’s R-Y-Z-E, Rise Up. Talk to us about that and how it works and what makes it different than some of the other, you know, and I’m sorry, Nick, I hate to say it this way, but, you know, some of the other dog and pony shows that are out there in the healthcare world, this is why you did this is to get away from the dog and pony show.
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. I’ve been a coach. I’ve been a personal trainer for about eight years, nutritionist for about six. And as I went down this journey, I found that there was so much misinformation out there. There’s a lot of people peddling quick fixes, fad diets, things that promise the world and just severely underdelivered. I built Rise Up to really break through the noise and bring the science-backed strategies that deliver results that don’t just help people get fit for right now, but fit for life.
SPEAKER 09 :
And for all of you listening, I will be using Nick’s program in the not-too-distant future. I was actually planning on doing that by the time we came on air today, Nick, but everybody else knows and I told you today that I ended up last week and had been developing for about the, I don’t know, previous probably seven days or so. the worst stinking sinus infection that actually was in my chest it was in my head it was one of the worst things i think i’ve had in about a decade and this is the first day honestly that i have felt a hundred percent you don’t hear it my voice or anything so i’m now ready to get going and i’ll be using some things here in the near future but i’ll be real honest with you and this is something we could chat about for a moment as well when you don’t feel good you don’t feel like doing anything
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. And that’s why health is literally the foundation for anything in life, for your relationships, your ability to show up for work or your business that you’re on. It’s literally the foundation for everything because when you’re tired, lethargic, you just don’t feel good, the only thing that you’re worried about is feeling better, right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and or just what’s that next task and how can I get through that? And then what’s the next task and how do I get through that one? And literally, when you’re not feeling well, that’s what your mind’s doing, and the idea is to break free from that. Now, I get it. Sometimes, Nick, people have other ailments and things going on like I had, and that’s not what we’re really talking about here. What we’re talking about is How do you get fit? How do you stay in shape? How do you be more healthy, which we talk about in this hour all the time? How do you do that so that life in general is just much easier?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, a lot of people think that they get fit by just going to the gym, eating healthier. But there’s a deeper layer here. And a lot of the programs out there, they peddle eight 12-week programs that are going to help you lose 20 to 30 pounds. You’ll overhaul everything. And then you get done and you start to question, was that worth it?
SPEAKER 09 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 05 :
Did I sacrifice everything?
SPEAKER 09 :
And really quick, Nick, I want to jump in, too, because I know this firsthand. The other thing that happens with a lot of those programs is there’s no mental shift in what you should be doing correctly. It is a, hey, I’m going to get to the goal. It’s like climbing a mountain or running a race. Okay, I’m going to run the race. I’m going to climb the mountain. But then when I’m done, I’m going to slide back down the other side and go back to my old habits. And the reality is if that’s your mentality, it’s never going to change.
SPEAKER 05 :
You literally transitioned into exactly what I was about to say. The real key to success is focusing on habit transformation. So one foot in front of each in front of the other. doing one thing well and then adding on to it, and then the main thing is focusing on your identity. A lot of times people fall down to the stories that they tell themselves. I was sitting next to a guy in the sauna the other day, and you could tell that he struggled with his health. And I was talking to him a little bit, and he’s like, I just don’t like to eat healthy food. And so the stories that he’s telling himself are what keeps him in this cycle of trying to lose weight, putting it back on. And it’s our identity and the people who truly see success long term. They don’t just try to work out or eat healthy. It’s who they are. They embrace that new identity as a healthy person.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. So RiseUpFitness.com, for all of you listening, is the website. And it’s R-Y-Z-E, RiseUpFitness.com. And as you guys can all hear, Nick’s got a totally different approach to not only – you know losing weight but staying healthy and again it can just be general health it can be weight loss it can be how you sleep it can be how do i get more lean muscle i mean nick i can go down the list the reality is and we’ll get into some of the supplements and stuff and such here in a moment as well but the program itself is designed to be tailored to that person and it’s not a one-size-fits-all correct exactly and that’s the biggest problem with a lot of things that happen in the health industry is that
SPEAKER 05 :
A lot of people will find programs on social media. They’ll give them a try. But it’s like trying to fit a square peg into a circle hole. Each person is different. Their lifestyle is different. Their time commitment is different. So when you’re trying to do these programs that you see online, how is that actually going to… And really quick, and I don’t normally do this, Nick, but I’m going to…
SPEAKER 09 :
Maybe not pick on is not the right word, but for some of you that are listening, you may have, because there’s lots of ads. These guys have done really well at pushing their particular product, and it’s kind of a virtual assistant. It’s an app. It’s app-based. And some of you are going to say, well, what’s the difference between that and what Nick’s doing? And I’m going to have Nick explain. But some of you have seen the product Noom. N-O-O-M. And, Nick, it’s one of the things you and I talked about because I’ve seen their product before, even kind of tested it at one point in time. And I will tell you that this is me talking, and I know Noom would probably argue with me, but I feel like Noom is also one of those. It’s more of a one-size-fits-all, and it’s not as tailored as what they might let you think it is.
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. And so each person, they go in, and I’ve done my research on Noom as well, and you do a little questionnaire up front, and they try to tailor your journey, but they don’t really talk to you at the beginning to say, hey, where are you currently at? What are you struggling with, and what can we do that’s realistic for you?
SPEAKER 09 :
So talk to us about what you do that make your product and what you guys are doing with your app different than them.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, that’s one thing that I really love that. That was a great question. The biggest thing that I see in the health and fitness space is that so many different programs focus on just one thing, whether it’s fitness or nutrition, behavior change. But we focus on health as a whole. So we bring together mindset, nutrition, fitness, and culinary under one roof. And we focus on that identity shifting and habit transformation. So it’s a very seamless process. And when you begin working with us, we jump on a call. We figure out where you’re at, what you’re looking to accomplish, and then we curate a personalized experience for your individual needs.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. So in other words, you’re doing, you’re taking that concept of what maybe they and some others started with, but adding a much, much more personal touch to it. Am I saying that correctly? Correct. Correct. Okay. So for For those of you listening, first of all, I would encourage you to go check out the website, RISE, and it’s R-Y-Z-E, riseupfitness.com. Now, let’s move into, Nick, sort of the supplement end of things. I shouldn’t say sort of. Let’s move into the supplement end of things because it coincides, and this is a big topic that we talk about here on RISE. Rush to Reason during health and wellness on a routine basis because supplements are a big deal. I’ve gone over this. My listeners know full well that the nutritional value in food is not what it once was. I’m a firm believer in you’ve got to have the ability to supplement certain things. And this is, again, going to be unique to certain individuals and another area that you can help with. But talk about your supplements and what makes them different.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, my supplement line is very comprehensive. I brought together a lot of the different supplements that people are deficient in. Like you said, the food now is just not as nutrient dense as it once was. And so we’re struggling with lack of energy, just health problems nonstop. And it’s because we have deficiencies on major minerals, vitamins, everything that we need for our body to actually thrive. And so I am a big advocate that food should be your main source of nutrition, whole food ingredients. But there are times where that just doesn’t do the job. And so you have to figure out how do I fill in those gaps, right?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Now, one thing, too, and I apologize. I should have said this rolling in. I know I talked about this in our promo for today, but for those of you listening, the other plus to Nick and what we have going on here is, Nick, you’re local. I’m not talking to you from Atlanta, Georgia. You are right here local in our Denver market, right?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, sir. I live in Reunion right out near the airport, and I am very mobile. We run different events across the Denver metro area, so keep an eye out for those over the summer. We’re definitely going to be focusing on bringing more community events because the goal is to help everybody rise up together, to become more.
SPEAKER 09 :
a community of people who are literally trying to become the best versions of themselves that’s where the whole rise up uh name comes from which by the way cool i agree with that you know how do we get people to you know collectively and or into and i get it some people it’s like listen i don’t want anybody else you know knowing what’s going on i’m going to do this on my own you know what that’s fine too to each his own but nick i get where you’re coming from there is power in partnerships Exactly.
SPEAKER 05 :
Community is a secret weapon. Unfortunately, especially in the health space, a lot of people, when they get healthy, they get put into this, I guess… bubble where people are like oh he’s being healthy like i don’t know if we really want to hang out it almost ostracizes you from some friend groups because they’ve seen that you have tried it before and you fell off and you keep trying going down like doing this dance and so the biggest thing is having that community around you that supports you and they want to see you win because when you go down a health journey a lot of times it kind of exposes people’s insecurities they’re like oh man he’s doing something i know i should probably be doing and You know, I haven’t been doing it, and so it exposes insecurities. But when you’re involved with a community of people who truly want to see you succeed, it really is the cheat code to long-term success.
SPEAKER 09 :
One thing, and this is something that you and I didn’t talk about prior to you coming on air, and if I would have known, I would have asked more questions, but you’re here now. You can answer this now. You’ve got an entire lineup of supplements when it comes to helping people sleep and get their brains reengaged and so on, which, again, another area where on this program during this hour we talk a lot about just sleep, brain health. how healthy it is for your brain to rejuvenate and so on. The reality is we need sleep, some sleep better than others. I think as we age, Nick, that can become a little bit more of a problem for certain individuals. So your line of supplements, what are they doing in that area?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, that’s a great question. We have medical-grade melatonin that literally will make you sleep better than you’ve slept in years. It’s an incredible supplement because melatonin is what your brain releases when it’s like, hey, time to go to sleep, that natural circadian rhythm. And so when you get that melatonin at first, you’re going to see that it’s going to take a little bit, but then your body comes back to an equilibrium. And then there’s a couple other things. When you take the supplements, there are some regimens that you need to follow as well. Having a bedtime routine, making sure that you’re staying off of the phone and not letting in blue light into your eyes, which is artificial sunlight before you go to bed. And then just making sure that your environment is ready to allow yourself. It’s going to essentially trigger your brain to go to sleep. And so there’s a lot of deep psychological things with sleep. But the supplements are to kind of kickstart that journey while you’re still getting into that habit of getting quality sleep.
SPEAKER 09 :
Talk to me about brain boost as well. I was reading some of that even over the past several days on one of those areas where, again, I have a lot of different folks that we bring on to talk about brain health and boosting your brain. We’re learning more and more now, Nick, that the more we can keep our brains involved, the more you fend off things like dementia and Alzheimer’s as well. Talk about that particular supplement also.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, the Neuro Plus Brain Booster is one of my favorite supplements. When I am busy and I just feel like I have to be on point, I take this supplement because it makes my focus crystal clear. And I even find that it helps me when I even don’t get quality sleep the night before. Sometimes I always tell people it can kind of feel like a crutch because you’re like, oh, cool. I don’t need to sleep that well. I can just go take this supplement and I’m going to be great. Right. And it works that well. Good point. But at the end of the day, it’s something that is a crutch. And so you have to install these habits. So the neuro plus brain supplement is something that is broke down. And it’s a nootropic. And these have come on storm over the past. I would say 10 years. And the studies, the science behind them now about waking up different hemispheres of your brain by giving your body certain supplements, it really is game changing. And so it’s something that I really love. I could go deep into the science, but I think by staying surface level right now and getting people to recognize and understand that supplements are just that. They’re supplements, and they’re there to help enhance your experience, but they shouldn’t be a crutch.
SPEAKER 09 :
I agree. I agree. I did get a question on the text line, which I should have said. My bad. I’m sorry, everybody. I got ahead of myself. I really didn’t even think about it. Nick, when the app becomes available on Google and the Apple App Store as well, what’s the cost going to be? How does that side of it work?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s a great question. So the membership is $97 per month. And what that is, is it’s way cheaper than what I’ve done in the past. Anytime I used to work with people in person, they were paying me anywhere from $600 to $1,000 per month, whether that was online or in person. I wanted to take a step back and say, how can I help more people? And with the craziness happening in the world right now, I wanted to figure out how to Make it more accessible to everyone. And the $97 a month price point is to that point where when you pay that, it’s just a little outside of your comfort zone. And I didn’t price it lower than this because when people pay for like $29, $47 things, they don’t use them. But when you pay for a $90,000 program, you’re like, hey, I’m invested, and I want to make sure that I’m actually taking action to get results.
SPEAKER 09 :
And I just did the math for all of you listening. Based on a 30-day month, which is what bankers use and so on, yes, I know some months have 28, some months have 31, some have 30. I understand that. But an average of 30 days a month, Nick, it basically ends up being three and a quarter a day, which is pretty cheap for your health.
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. It’s an investment for, there’s nothing else.
SPEAKER 09 :
Skip the Starbucks line and you’ll be okay anyways. How’s that sound? What’s that? If they just skip the Starbucks line and do your membership instead, A, they’ll be healthier and they’ll pay for that. Because, by the way, Starbucks is more than $3.25.
SPEAKER 05 :
like double the price now. And it actually is getting up to close to triple that price anymore.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s crazy. Yeah. So bottom line is, you know, you look at this and someone would say, yeah, it’s $100 a month. How am I going to afford that? I just gave you a way to do it. And I get it. Not everybody goes to Starbucks. But Nick, every time I, you know, roll past one, there is a line and a drive up and so on. So somebody is…
SPEAKER 05 :
100%. And one thing that I always like to get people to see is $97 per month isn’t a cost that you’re incurring. It’s an investment in your future. This is the only investment that you can make that will actually buy back quality time at the end of your life.
SPEAKER 09 :
Good point. No, you are so right on that. And again, it’s why we talk about these things on Wednesdays like we do. We’re going to be having Nick back on a more routine basis, too, for all of you listening. Great products. Now, I would also tell you, go check out all the supplements. Now, one of the questions I had on the supplements, Nick, before I get going, does the membership give you any other discounts or any availability to things that you wouldn’t have outside of the membership?
SPEAKER 05 :
Great question. And that’s one of the things that I wanted to do is provide members with a discounted rate. So anybody who joins our Rise Up membership, they get 20% discount on their supplements. And so I wanted to bring everything together under one roof. You’ll never have to go anywhere else to learn everything you need to know to take your health to the next level.
SPEAKER 09 :
So for a lot of you, and I know some of you use supplements on a routine basis, and depending upon where you’re buying them and what you’re paying, you may actually, and Nick, I don’t think I’m too far off on this, depending upon how many supplements you’re buying, you take your 97 a month, you get the 20% off, though, for buying the other supplements. In some cases, these people, folks out there listening, are spending well over that in dollars on supplements. Bottom line is you may not be paying a whole lot for this when it’s all said and done, depending upon how many supplements you use.
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. It essentially offsets probably half to three quarters of the cost. I was going to say half.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, that took the words out of my mouth. I was going to say half of that membership cost you could easily get back in your supplement savings.
SPEAKER 05 :
Exactly. Things like if you came in and bought a bundle. I’ve got my neuro and sleep bundle. And it’s sitting right now at about $3.29, and it comes with eight different supplements. And so you get 20% off that. You almost save money. yourself an entire month right there alone.
SPEAKER 09 :
There you go. There you go. Again, folks, it’s riseupfitness.com, R-Y-Z-E, riseupfitness.com. I have got one good friend of mine texted that said, you know what, if you hire a personal trainer, it’s about $700, $800 a month. So, Nick, it’s a pretty good bargain at $97 a month is what they were saying.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, exactly. My sessions when I used to be in person were $80 per one hour. And when you pay $97, you get a nutrition plan tailored to you. You get an entire workout plan, not just one session with me in person. You get an entire program curated to your specific needs.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, you and I will be getting together in the not-too-distant future. Now that I feel 1,000% better than I did just a week ago, we’ll get together, Nick. Again, appreciate not only the outside sources that got us together. I think it’s great. I’m going to enjoy this. We’re going to have a lot of fun together down the road here. And I appreciate what you’re doing. And for all of you listening, it’s riseupfitness.com, R-Y-Z-E, riseupfitness.com. What else do you want to add, Nick?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, at the end of the day, I want everyone here to recognize that they owe it to themselves to live their best life. And in order to do that, they need to make sure that they’re prioritizing their health. The only thing that you ever have in life at the end of your life is your health. Yeah, good point. So taking time for yourself is not selfish. It’s actually selfless because the more you invest in yourself right now, the more you can give back to everyone around you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Love it, Nick. Thank you very much, and we’ll send folks your way. All right, John. I appreciate your time.
SPEAKER 05 :
