Join us in this week’s episode as we dive into the intense protests against ICE, highlighted by a viral incident involving an American flag-waving conservative. We explore the reactions from political figures, including the Minneapolis Mayor’s controversial stance. As emotions run high, we unravel personal stories touched by tragedy, showcasing the raw human connections amid political unrest.
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, January 16th. This week, the mayor of Minneapolis objects to ICE, conservative media stars feud online, and a state senator in Kentucky feels bad about being white. We begin in the middle of a protest where one conservative had just about enough of the leftists who were swarming him. Have you seen the video of the guy waving the American flag surrounded by anti-ice protesters? And he has finally decided he had enough. And he starts wailing on all the soy boys surrounding him. And he takes them down one by one. Now, look, I’m not a violent person. I’m not advocating for any violence. But there is something satisfying in watching that video. And it’s hard for me to describe it and play it for you, so we’re going to send it out on the MyPillow text line once Tracy puts it together. It’s the wildest thing I’ve ever seen. It almost looks like it was staged. He’s waving a big American flag. There’s all these anti-ice… nitwits screeching and blowing their stupid whistles. And I don’t know what it is about the whistles. I wish I knew what the whistles meant. Do you blow the whistle when you think that there’s an ICE officer nearby? Are the whistles going to give some kind of protective cover to the anti-ICE people? I don’t get it. Anyway, he’s standing there and they surround him. They swarm him. And they’re screaming in his face and they’re spitting on him and they’re sticking, you know, one of them has a megaphone that he sticks in his face. Finally, one of them crosses the line and gets a little physical. He puts the flag down and he wails on them one by one and drops them. I mean, knocks them out. This one guy in a red jacket, he just gets put to sleep. And he confronts the guy. He’s going up to the guy saying, all right, buddy, you want some? You want some? And the guy just, the American flag-waving guy just lays that kid out. That kid just falls backwards and takes a nap. And again, I’m not advocating violence here. You probably shouldn’t do that. But at what point do you get to defend yourself? against these crazies. Have you noticed there aren’t any black or Hispanic anti-ice protesters? What’s up with that? Well, I think we’ve got an idea. There’s a great analysis. I think it’s over at Red State. We’ll share that with you in just a moment. Can I play a clip from Mayor Frey, often called Fry? This is Jacob, whatever his name is, in Minneapolis. he is now sort of backtracking a little bit with all of his filthy rhetoric against law enforcement. Maybe somebody got to him and said, hey, you know what? You are bashing law enforcement, right? You do know that. We do understand that these immigration and custom enforcement officers are just that. They are officers that are exercising lawful deportations and immigration enforcement actions. But he’s backtracking a little bit. Listen to what he said yesterday. I found this really intriguing, and I wanted to kind of get your take on this. Here’s the mayor now claiming, well, we don’t want ICE not to do the things that ICE is supposed to do. Check this out.
SPEAKER 03 :
What we are seeing right now is not normal immigration enforcement. We are not asking ICE not to do ICE things. We are asking this federal government to stop the unconstitutional conduct that is invading our streets each and every day.
SPEAKER 06 :
What does that mean? What is he talking about? What happened in the incident last week with Rene Good? How is that not an ICE thing? They were attempting, as I understand it, to apprehend an illegal who had, I believe, sex crime charges against him. A senseless crime in Ocala, Florida received almost zero attention in the mainstream media this week. We wanted to make sure you knew about it. Did you hear what happened in Ocala, Florida? I guarantee you didn’t. There’s a 64-year-old neighbor, a man in Ocala, Florida, named Harold Harper. We all know the name of, you know, Renee Good, right? Say her name, said the Philadelphia sheriff. Say her name! Maybe you ought to hear about Harold Harper. He was apparently a guy who loved to tend to his garden in Florida. And he was minding his own business and just weeding his garden on his knees when a stranger walked up behind him and shot him in the back of the head, execution style. Picture of the suspect, happens to be a black man. Picture of the victim, a white man. Now, and the poor wife… telling neighbors, my husband is dead, my husband is dead. He was in his front yard in Ocala, Florida, gardening. He recently had major surgery on his neck, and according to mysuncoast.com, he used gardening as a form of therapy. He didn’t have any tools with him. He just had a bucket for collecting the weeds. Officials do not believe that the suspect, a 29-year-old named Isaac Toy, knew Mr. Harper. 64-year-old man. Just a random attack. When do the protests start for this guy? When are the widespread protests going to start there, huh? Which police chief is going to weep for Harold Harper? If that happened in Portland, you think Chief Bob Day would be crying for the 64-year-old? Because we all should. We all ought to weep for this poor guy and his wife. Imagine his wife finding her husband dead in the garden with a bullet in the back of his head. And this degenerate, this coward, this demon saw a white guy in the front yard of his house, said, I’m going to go up and I’m going to execute this guy just because I can. Anybody going to cry for him?
SPEAKER 04 :
Hmm.
SPEAKER 06 :
800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Dave is in Tampa, not too terribly far from where this crime took place. Hey, Dave, welcome aboard. How are you doing today?
SPEAKER 08 :
I’ve been better, Mike. I knew Whit. We knew him as Whit Harper. I grew up with him. I went to high school with him. I graduated with him.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, no. I’m so sorry, Dave.
SPEAKER 08 :
Golly. I haven’t been in touch with him in a long time because I bought insurance from him, too. But Whit was a great man, a good guy, all right? True loss to the planet Earth, all right? Yes, sir. And I know that this guy was probably some psycho, probably triggered by the rhetoric we’ve been hearing by these fools, okay? Every time they get in front of a microphone, they’ve got to run their mouths, all right? And I’m sick of it, okay? And this is real-world consequences, all right? It’s a true, true loss to the community there.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I just wonder if these public officials who are complaining about their white privilege. I mean, he was, you know, your friend was white, right? And the guy, the shooter was black. Where’s the white privilege come into that?
SPEAKER 08 :
And there’s no motive. Everybody wants to know what happened. I guarantee you nothing happened. Whit was a soft-spoken guy, just a good man. All right. And he got shot in the back of the head, Mike. The guy was looking to kill a white person, apparently, or somebody. Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
The chief of police in Portland, Oregon, broke down in tears this week. You will not believe the reason why. This is the actual chief of police in Portland, Oregon, who finally had to come clean and admit that these two illegals, shot by a federal agent, have ties to Trendi Aragua.
SPEAKER 09 :
And what I can say is there is an association with the two folks yesterday and TDA. I hesitated to even share this information initially because I’m very aware of the historic injustice of victim blaming, oftentimes portrayed by law enforcement, including this very agency that I’ve represented so proudly for so many years. And historically, we have not been quick to disclose the potential criminal history of others. But I felt it was imperative because I was asked yesterday in the news conference what information we have. This is information we have. This in no way draws a through line to the actions or the behaviors that occurred yesterday. I want to speak for just a moment specifically to my Latino community. It saddens me that we even have to qualify these remarks because I understand, or at least have attempted to understand through your voices, your concern, your fear, your anger. This information in no way is meant to disparage or to condone or support or agree with any of the actions that occurred yesterday. But it is important that we stay committed to the rule of law, that we stay committed to the facts, that we stay a trustworthy and legitimate organization police department for all of Portlanders.
SPEAKER 06 :
He’s a police chief. Weeping. Weeping. And, you know, if you’re just listening on the radio and not watching Salem News Channel, you didn’t have the benefit of seeing him take off his glasses, get out his handkerchief, and start dabbing his eyes because he’s so emotional. over having to reveal that these two illegals, and thank you, somebody corrected me, it’s apparently a man and a woman, these two illegals have ties to the violent gang Trendi Aragua. Crying. Now, I wonder if he’s ashamed as he apologizes to my Latino community, as he put it. That’s when he got emotional. It’s his Latino community, apparently. I guess he owns them. But to my Latino community, and he starts weeping, right? He’s another lunatic leftist. Recent conversations on social media have discovered the greatest danger to our nation. The state senator from Kentucky exemplifies this perfectly. There’s a theme on social media that the biggest plague we have right now in America is the plague of liberal white women. I think there’s a lot of truth to that. I really do. Liberal white women, we all often affectionately call them Karens, they’re the worst. They’re just the absolute worst. A recent video went viral out of Kentucky. Have you heard about State Representative Sarah Stalker, a Democrat in the Kentucky Assembly? Um… The viewpoint she expressed has become sort of mainstream leftist ideology. The Hill, Ryan Staley, an opinion contributor over at The Hill, wrote of her comments, these detestable and abusive concepts, her vile and abhorrent views are not an aberration. They’re a feature of leftist thought. I want you to hear a state representative out of Kentucky by the name of Sarah Stalker.
SPEAKER 02 :
I’m going to be honest. I don’t feel good about being white every day for a lot of reasons. Because it’s a point of privilege that I get to move through the world in a way that so many of my other colleagues and friends and family members of the community don’t get the privilege to do. And I’m just a female, but just a woman, just a white woman. If I was a white man, I would be functioning from a point of even greater privilege. I think we’re missing an opportunity when kids… When kids have a moment to reflect about how the color of their skin does and does not allow them to move through the world, running to them and trying to stifle that and trying to say, you shouldn’t feel bad, so we don’t want to ever expose you to something that is going to make you have to pause and have maybe some internal feelings, it’s a missed opportunity for some really good dialogue.
SPEAKER 06 :
Now, you do realize that to many, if not most, if not all leftists, what you just heard is normal. What she said is mainstream. Which kind of helps explain these anti-ICE protesters. Because obviously this state representative, Sarah Stalker, is one angry, bitter, miserable, unhappy woman. Going through life feeling badly about her immutable characteristic of being white. And when you see these people getting in the faces of ICE officers and disrupting protests and screeching at people and all that, these are miserable people who are looking for some kind of validation. They’re desperately trying to be relevant. And I think we all, when you feel terrible, don’t you instinctively want to feel better? Don’t you want to improve how you feel? If you’re having a bad day, don’t you want to get over your bad day and have a good day? If you’ve got a cold, if you don’t feel good, you want to feel better. On the other hand, I do believe there are people who have a mental health aspect of their personalities, of their being, where they like being unhappy. This is the Mike Gallagher Show, week in review podcast. For weeks now, a lot of popular conservatives have been brutally attacking each other on social media. We reached out to Garrett Seawright of Barrett Media to try to make sense of these feuds. He’s been covering the rift. Barrett Media has an article today by Garrett Seawright. And Garrett is a… broadcaster’s guy. He spent years leading several radio brands. He’s a play-by-play voice of a hockey team, so he knows the industry. And he writes, listen to any recent show from Megyn Kelly, Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson, Mark Levin, or Candace Owens, and you’ll likely hear shots fired from one to the other. Those conservative podcasters have been taking aim at one another with Shapiro and Carlson, Shapiro and Owens, Kelly and Levin, Kelly and Shapiro, all of them trading barbs. That’s the way Garrett Seawright writes about it at Barrett Media, and I thought it would be kind of instructive and… Again, I don’t know what your level of interest is in this, but we’re going to find out. Let’s welcome Garrett Seawright, who’s Barrett Media’s news editor, to the Mike Gallagher Show. Garrett, the last time I saw you was on stage in New York City for the big Barrett Media Summit, which was a big success. How are you doing? Happy New Year.
SPEAKER 07 :
I that it was the last time we saw each other. It’s good to good to be on a show with you today. This today, Mark. Well, it’s good. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good to have you. Good to have you with us for the first time. Barrett Media is doing great work and we always appreciate kind of poking in and seeing what you guys are writing about. You know, you politely and diplomatically say that all of these high-profile podcasters and hosts have been trading barbs in recent weeks. Trading barbs? I mean, they are lobbying nuclear weapons at each other. It’s gotten personal. It’s ugly. It’s very, very angry. And you wrote about talking to various hosts. And for the record, I am not the anonymous host that you quoted. You referred to another nationally syndicated news talk host who did not wish to be identified. And by the way, I can’t blame him or her. Because all of these hosts have various armies and they unleash the armies on each other. But Garrett, what’s your takeaway in covering our industry the way you do and you do it so well? What are you finding? What are your sort of discoveries in trying to write about all of these feuds going on? It’s my sense it’s largely about Israel. Is that correct?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, a lot of it does stem from Israel, and there are branches to that, considering a lot of the consternation and a lot of the trading of barbs came out after the Tucker Carlson interview with Nick Fuentes. That kind of started it all, didn’t it, Garrett? It really did, that there was a faction of before that kind of – before that interview, there would have been a, hey, perhaps a text to Tucker that said, hey, I don’t think – between Ben Shapiro or Mark Levin that would say, hey, this isn’t a good idea, and I’ll explain to you why this isn’t a good idea, why you shouldn’t be platforming somebody like this. And that was kind of the line in the sand for, I think, Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, and others that said, wait a second – This is a bridge too far because I think in their eyes, Democrats have not done a great job on the Israel versus Gaza since October 7th. That has not been a situation that I think they’ve won with a majority of Americans. And so I think to some conservative media members, it is a why are you opening the door to for us to be criticized for this? taking the wrong stance on this issue. And that just devolved into, I mean, Tucker Carlson’s gone as far to say Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire won’t be around in five years because they’ve been illegitimately propped up by Facebook. That has led to, you said, I politely said they were trading barbs. I think the polite society in conservative media is somewhat over now. It can obviously come back to taking these things offline, but it is been everybody in the, in those five people mentioned at each other’s throats. And you, you mentioned also Dan Bongino now coming in where he’s made really no bones about on social media. I’m going to have stuff to say about these people in fighting and these people trying to take over our movement because this isn’t how it should go. And we’ll see what layer that adds to it here in the coming days and weeks. Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Dilbert creator and podcaster Scott Adams passed away this week, but not without some debate, even in death. Gosh, I was just watching a video clip from Scott Adams made not long before he died that said, what would you think about of your life if your life flashed before your eyes, if you were dying? I don’t know when he made that particular video, but he got emotional, so I suspect he was already sick. When he shared those words of wisdom, he said, what would you think about it? Because in my case, I wouldn’t think about my Dilbert career. The 35 years that I spent drawing the Dilbert cartoon strip, I would think about watching Disney movies with my kids. The things that matter. There’s been some criticism of Scott in accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior because of the way he worded it. He basically said it was a risk-reward proposition. And, you know, he said something out loud that I guarantee you a lot of people have – that’s a path that a lot of people have traveled. I promise you. All the death row inmates who suddenly find the Lord after they massacred six people, and they lived a horrible life, and now they’re behind bars, and they’re about to meet their fate, they’re about to be executed, and suddenly they become saved. It’s a risk-reward calculus for them. They’re saying, well, I don’t want to spend eternity burning in hell. I’m told… that if I accept Jesus as my Savior, if I accept Christ, if I become saved, I’ll have eternal salvation. I’ll be in heaven forever. So I accept Jesus. Because the Bible says that all of my sins will be forgiven. And Scott, essentially, in his final statement that was released after his death, said, sort of said, he said, I’m not a believer, but the risk-reward calculation is pretty tempting, so here goes. I accept Jesus as my Savior. And that really infuriated a lot of people because it’s like, it doesn’t really work that way. It’s not the way you’re supposed to do it. You’re supposed to sincerely accept Jesus. And my prayer is that Scott Adams sincerely accepted Jesus. Jesus as his Lord and Savior. And that’s my hope for everybody. My prayer for everybody. Because Jesus is the only way. And Christians know that. And look, I’m not going to open up the phone lines and get into a whole biblical, spiritual conversation about what that risk-reward calculation is like. I probably should. It might be interesting to people, but I am ill-equipped. I know there’s a lot of people who are definitely unhappy with that equation. Well, I’m told, you know, that if you accept Jesus, you’ll make it. So I accept Jesus. Here goes. You know, it’s kind of like fingers crossed. And incidentally, I think Scott would appreciate the debate that he left behind. Because he was all about that. He was all about debate and conversation and wisdom. Just absolutely beloved. And kind of a fascinating, just a real fascinating guy. Coffee with Scott. And I’m not going to discourage you from calling if you want to talk about this. I’m just going to tell you right now, I’m not real enthusiastic about somebody saying what Scott said and how we’re supposed to respond. Again, all we can do is pray that Scott is with God right now. We talk every day to our audience about the issues that matter to you. We hear from people all over America who share a wide variety of opinions. This here, by a country mile, was the call of the week. Angela in Ohio. Tell me where I’m wrong, Angela.
SPEAKER 10 :
So here’s the thing. When you have law enforcement and you have them coming into a community and they are very, very aggressive, very hopped up, almost like military on steroids and they are angry men and they have masks on and when they come in they aren’t doing law enforcement they are attacking people and so when people are standing there and then you have p see someone being just violently attacked forcibly That is really hard to witness because you are not used to seeing that from a law.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I have to say, and you sound like a very nice lady.
SPEAKER 10 :
You have to understand, when there are men, men are supposed to protect us. They are not supposed to make us feel afraid. And they make us feel afraid when they come and are attacking like that. They come to her door, and they immediately grab and start shaking at her door to get out. Do you understand? They have been terrorizing people. And just like people that look like regular people, but then they see them, and then they chase and run and attack them. And they hurt them. They’re really not nice men. They’re bad men.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, can I respond?
SPEAKER 10 :
They’re not the good guys.
SPEAKER 06 :
Can I respond, Angela? They’re not the good guys. Angela, can you hear me? Can you hear my voice? Yeah, I can hear you. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
I need you to understand that’s why people are protesting.
SPEAKER 06 :
May I respond to you? Yeah. Okay. You have completely mischaracterized what’s actually going on.
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I’ve seen how they’ve done it. I’ve watched how they go in so forcefully and all these areas they attach. These are not law enforcement. They are not trained like regular law enforcement people. They have a very different directive. Their directives are different.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you going to let me talk at all, Angela? Are you going to let me speak? They don’t act like regular law enforcement. Angela, are you going to let me speak? I’m asking you. Is there a new law? Are there new laws? Angela, am I allowed to respond to your emotional tirade? First, are there new laws? If you’re not going to let me speak, we’re going to move on.
SPEAKER 10 :
Go ahead.
SPEAKER 06 :
So let me respond so that you stop crying and trying to talk over me. I understand you’re emotional and you’re upset, and it’s because you’re fantasizing. You’ve got a fabrication. In your mind, do you know you just characterized ICE officers as going into communities all aggressive and hyped up, hopped up, and they’re just snatching people off the street just at random? They are. They are kidnapping them. That is not what’s happening, Angela. You are wrong. You are wrong.
SPEAKER 10 :
There are people that have not seen their family members.
SPEAKER 06 :
These are illegal immigrants who are being deported, Angela. Do you think illegals… You’re either delusional or you’re purposely lying. You’re either lying or you’re delusional, Angela. You are. Well, then maybe you’re delusional. Maybe, I mean, listen to you crying because of people you don’t even know you think are being snatched up. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Do you know why they’re, do you know why they’re men? Do you know why? Do you know why they’re, do you know why?
SPEAKER 06 :
I can’t. And to the audience, you’ve got to admit that I tried every chance I could not to be interrupted by this lady. And so get mad at me. And then the worst thing is the audience will accuse me of interrupting her. And she wouldn’t let me say three words because she’s so full of this rage and emotion. Typical white liberal woman from Columbus, Ohio. Finally, lest you think that our nation is populated by angry protesters, criminals, and random whack jobs, listen to this story from CBS Sunday Morning. It’s proof positive that most people are actually good. I admit CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley can sometimes be hit or miss. I typically like it. Once in a while, they go down the woke path. you know, the woke lane, but often it’s just got great content. And I love this report about a man in South Bend, Indiana, who became a bit of a punchline. People were making fun of him because this hardworking guy had a pickup truck that was mangled, but he was still driving it around because he couldn’t afford to replace it until the community got involved. Here’s the report.
SPEAKER 05 :
In South Bend, Indiana, there have now been multiple reports of a UDO, an unidentified driving object. The whole town is abuzz. I thought it was AI. I didn’t know if it was real. It’s unbelievable how the thing even moved.
SPEAKER 10 :
I did a double take because I couldn’t believe the sight of it.
SPEAKER 05 :
But it’s real, and it belongs to this man. Wait, is this it? This is it. Mo Ryle’s truck looks normal enough from the front. 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500. But start it up and look at it from any other angle, and you’ll see why folks have been so shocked at the sight of it. What in God’s name happened to your truck?
SPEAKER 04 :
Let’s go with what didn’t happen to it, okay? There’s too many documented incidents for me to even go there.
SPEAKER 05 :
Combine those mishaps with the fact that Indiana does not require vehicle inspections, and you have the makings of a social media frenzy. For the past few months, thousands of people have been sharing their sightings online and mercilessly poking fun. But a few weeks ago, one local resident saw that wounded duck of a truck limping down the highway and didn’t just make a mockery. He made a connection.
SPEAKER 01 :
I just thought there’s got to be something more to why this truck looks like this. What did you learn? I just put two and two together that this is this person’s only means of transportation.
SPEAKER 05 :
Colin Crowell, owner of a local detailing shop, met with Mo and soon after launched a crowdfunding campaign to get him a new truck. Raised about $22,000 from about 500 different donors.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s the part that knocked me over, bam. Here’s a human being seeing another human being struggle. And I’m like, wow, what did I do to deserve this? You know?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, for starters, he has worked hard his whole life, most recently at a Dollar Tree. He’s had some health issues lately and could really use a reliable ride to get to doctor’s appointments. So last week, Mo took his truck for one last ride to the local Chevy dealer, where he was gifted this shiny 2019 Silverado. But he says the real gift was far less tangible.
SPEAKER 04 :
This whole thing is not about me. It’s about this community bonding together. God is good.
SPEAKER 05 :
Once again, evidence that people are good, too.
SPEAKER 06 :
I love that story. I so appreciated what that community of South Bend, Indiana did for that guy. And the reporter is right. People are good. God is good, and God moves through people in extraordinary ways. That wraps up the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast for Friday, January 16th, 2026. Be sure to subscribe to all our podcasts.
