If people don’t think that that’s pretty amazing, they’ve fallen off the coconut wagon, dude. Like, I mean, to turn around and almost be the first trillionaire on this planet is pretty amazing. No, it is. In most people’s eyes.

Like, that’s… Well… Well, look at history. He… People used to think you couldn’t even run a full mile under a certain time. And then once that got broken, everybody else followed suit. So he’s doing something. He’s paving a way, showing a path that, hey, if you want to be wealthy, this is what you do.

But how has he been influential to history? When when all he’s been, you know, all about was making money. We’re talking about people who’s influenced history like Abraham Lincoln. You know, you know, he influenced history and we know he gave thanks to the Lord. So you have a whole brand of, you know, generations, you know, celebrating the day of Thanksgiving because one man. OK, now you got a whole. So what is Elon Musk to us that, you know, the world is celebrating or does something or changed anybody? That’s what I’m saying.

Well, I mean, the few things that I can think of for Elon Musk, PayPal. Have you ever used any platform like that to compensate or pay anybody? All of it started with PayPal.

So he changed a monetary system and how to be able to transfer.

I use that stuff all the time, too.

Then the other one is getting us off of fossil fuels, something that has been existent for a long time and now moving into electric. and space exploration. And so these are things that are moving the masses in a certain direction.

Yeah, that’s very influential because when I think of Elon Musk, all I think of is him shooting rockets to the sky trying to go to Mars. And that’s all I think about him. Like, okay, how is that influential to the world? Because you want to go to Mars because you have an idea.

Okay, well, then if we’re not going to use Elon Musk. No, you can. Okay, then second I would go with the Wright Brothers. Because if they didn’t come up with flight, you know, what are we doing? Walking everywhere?
SPEAKER 04 :
Did you ever see that movie? The Wright Brothers? No. What was with Leonardo DiCaprio? Aviation? No. Yeah, Aviation. Was it Aviation? Yeah. I think that’s what it was called. Yeah, The Aviator. Yeah. Did you ever see that? Howard Hughes? Yeah. Is he the one who started it?

Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Wright Brothers, and there’s so many more. I mean, the list would go on and on. But at the end of the day, a man is considered influential when he can inspire or impact others. So the whole part of being influential is you’ve got to move people.

Yeah, but now, now we have like a whole industry built upon influencers. And I’m doing air quotes here, people, influencers, people who tell you to drink Evian water over Arrowhead that tell you to wear this deodorant over that one. And these are people who start like they have like a earworm or they get in your mind by watching their videos. And it’s funny. And then all of a sudden, you’re influenced by them in your life by buying certain things. So yes, marketing strategies and such.

Yeah, I think it’s crazy how the TikTokers are becoming so influential. I mean, that’s like the new-aged influencer nowadays.

That’s funny we’re talking about this. Do you think Michael Jordan, during his time in basketball, was more influential with selling shoes than any other player at any time in history? Any NBA player?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, of course.

Yeah, because the… The emphasis they put on him before he actually took a step on the court was so big and so gigantic that when he actually became what they thought he was going to become, then it just went to another whole other level.

People would be calling on the phone lines would be lit up with people saying, hey, man, I’ll drop a million dollar offering right into this.

People call in if you think Jesus would have been balling. at this time like like money money money let us know and if you think the other uh other other than that that he’d be uh modest and um really not flaunting influential men are typically those who value their opinions and are respected so they have an opinion that they follow
SPEAKER 03 :
If you really value what you’re saying, the opinions that you throw out are part of who you are, your DNA. You’re going to follow that stuff. And so I mean, look, there’s people going hunger strikes left and right to make a point. There’s people that start movements all around our globe to make a point. Maybe they have money, maybe they don’t, but somehow they’re so influential that they get crowds of people to follow them. Let’s take the Antichrist, for example. I can’t believe we’re even talking about all this stuff. But how in the world is the Antichrist going to get half the world to follow them? How is it even possible? You know what I’m saying? So he has to be able to speak in a way that moves a person. That’s got to be… I think, at least the way I think, and I’m just being real with you guys. I think if a person can speak in a way that causes another man to say, hey, you know what? I believe in that cause. I’m going to follow that. Not only are they going to follow you with their actions, but they’re going to follow you with their wallet. Because money is going to come behind it.

Can’t even get my mom to follow you. You know what I’m saying? I’ve tried to influence somebody to, you know, come to church, you know, receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost like I have.

I mean… I can attest to that sitting right across from you because you tried to get me to show up and I was like, nah. Nah. Nah.

According to Forbes published in May 31st, 2016, without influence, leaders cannot lead. This is because in order to lead, you need to be able to captivate and guide others through your influence. And maybe that’s the reason why you feel like you haven’t. you know, had somebody follow you or led somebody, maybe you just haven’t captivated them yet.
SPEAKER 04 :
No, see, you know what I think it is? Is I think is when you actually start speaking truth to somebody, then you’re fighting a different, you’re on a different course because then that’s when, you know, flesh and blood is removed and you’re fighting, you know, principalities and spirits. So once you’re speaking truth to somebody, then all of a sudden the devil’s going to come in, whisper in their ear, tell them, oh, don’t listen to him. And before you know it, I’m not trying to lead somebody. I’m fighting against a whole other, you know, I’m fighting a different whole situation. I never really took that into accountability, I would say.

To piggyback on that, I would say that it is, it’s conviction. When one has conviction in their own heart as to, you know, what they want to follow. Again, this goes for righteous or wicked. When you have a conviction of like, this is what I’m going to do, I’m going to set my mind to it, people start following you through that. They really do.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right, because that goes back to Adolf Hitler. Us three guys are sitting here right now and we’re saying that was the most wacko person on the planet. But if you were a German at that time… Do you think you would have been sitting back saying he’s a wacko?
SPEAKER 06 :
They were part of the club, either for fear or for money.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, so it brings up the next point. Look at the Ku Klux Klan back in the day. I mean, we have a black dude from Chicago on our show. Seriously, dude. I mean, if you go all the way back to times when racism was so crazy, how was it that in the South, Or even we can go back to like slavery. How is it that they were so powerful that they could convince so many people that slavery was right? How do you go against your conscience?

Right. Well, that’s greed is one of the driving forces behind somebody’s influence, just as oppression or overseeing or having put the thumb down on somebody, you know. So when they believe that they’re better than someone else, they’re superior than someone else.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. And that has to be the key because otherwise Ku Klux Klan wouldn’t even been around at all.
SPEAKER 06 :
And then the driving force behind it is you have the one person who is projecting whatever this this is a hatred in that matter. And there’s the inside little voice of the other people who are like, well, I guess I feel that way, too. They just follow along, follow suit.
SPEAKER 03 :
God, this is a good topic because if you think about it, in order to take somebody who is bad and influencing you to always do bad, you have to go against that built-in conscience of yourself. Somehow you’ve got to get rid of that.

We’d have to look at the origin of… you know, where the KKK originated from. Was it one man that actually orchestrated the whole movement? Was there one guy behind it all?
SPEAKER 03 :
That is a really good question he’s asking right there.

So I think he could be – I mean, he’s number one in the whole world, because he did something that, well, nobody else ever did. He came back from the dead. That’s true. Yeah. And then if you want to talk about influence, excuse me, by money, I mean, what’s the church worth today? I mean, Jesus would be worth trillions. That’s what I said. I’m going to say Jesus, from just what he did when he was on earth and after he came back, makes him the most influential. And then if you want to talk financially… he would probably be the most influential as well. Anyway, that’s just my two cents worth.

Right. So that just goes to show you that whether you’re a good person or a bad person, you can influence people that are like maybe not mentally stable, I guess would be the word for it. Right.

Yeah, because somebody. Well, what happens a lot of times is you create this cult of personality and people end up following after that because it’s the ideals or the ideology that they believe in. Like a better life, a better existence, more greed or wealth. Self-serving. It’s always self-serving. A friend of mine once told me, his name is Nathan, he said the difference between somebody who’s righteous and wicked is selfishness or selflessness. When you’re selfless, then that’s when you’re putting people before you.

So I got a question. Do you think somebody can be influenced if it goes against their values? For example, do you think people are more in tune to listen to somebody who’s who’s talking or speaking their language versus going against what what they believe?
SPEAKER 06 :
Influence is one of these little tiny like kind of influencers. It’s a small thing that starts to move the needle in the direction that the person wishes or wills it to go. How many of us have tried to buy a car?
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, yeah. No.
SPEAKER 06 :
And you start off, hey, this is the car and the car payment I want to get and everything. And then before you know it, you buy a car that’s three times the price.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s good. You’re influenced. It wasn’t your choice. It wasn’t your decision. You were led. But let’s take it to a greater level than that. What if you were taught to not… buy a gun your whole entire life do you think somebody could influence you to actually go out and buy a gun by painting a picture like hey man me and the boys are going hunting um it would be really cool if you came with this you’re going to miss out on that commodity do you think they could get you to switch your mindset if your whole life you were taught not to do something hmm i think he just answered your question No, with the car, because everybody needs a car. No, no, no. I understand the car salesman part, but I’m taking it up a notch. Because sometimes I think people are rooted and grounded in their values, but somehow somebody comes along and makes a change.

I guess it would extend from where your value comes from. Right. Where does that value, where does it originate from? Then that’s where you’re…

Now, there’s also broadening one’s horizons. One person might grow up America and American and only eating hot dogs and hamburgers and stuff and not have a palate for anything else until you begin to embark upon maybe Chinese food or Korean food or Mexican food or something. And then all of a sudden you’ve been influenced by this. And now you can indulge in it because you’ve broadened your horizon. You’ve gotten knowledge base. So I think ignorance does keep an individual trapped into a mindset.

That’s really good because while he was talking, a scripture came to my mind. peter would not eat anything unclean and he went into somebody’s house in the bible if i’m remembering this right and then the sheet of animals came down he was like nope sorry i don’t need anything unclean he told god that he told god that right isn’t that right since then god said whatever i like peter whatever i turn around and say is clean don’t say unclean and he was a rooted jew like they they’re not eating certain things period see So it makes you wonder, can something be so influential that it changes your being, who you are from the inside?

See, that’s why one of the scriptures that I really love, and I’ll quote it if you’d like, but it talks about there’s a freedom in Christ, and that freedom in Christ is so that every man can be sought after. So Peter, in that example, needed to stop believing what he believed so he could reach who he needed to reach. Hmm. in the scripture that I, that I, I quote for like me as an actor is, um, I become a slave to, I’m not a slave, but I’ve become a slave to all men that I might win the more to the Jew. I’ve become as a Jew that I might win the Jew. Um, To those who are under the law, as though under the law, that I might win those who are under the law. And this is the key right here. To those who are without law, as though without law, not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ, that I might win them more. I become all things to all men that I might save some. So you see what happened there is the freedom in Christ allowed that something that would seemingly be Lawlessness was allowable for the persuasion and influence of the gospel.

To Brock’s point, man, I think that when somebody is not comfortable and confident in who they are or by whose they are, if they are Christ’s, then we begin to be led astray. It doesn’t matter your age. You can be led by other people because you’re not confident in yourself. Yeah.

Yeah, so, I mean, I guess it would go down into the question, are you a leader or are you a follower? Because if you’re under the category of being a follower, you’re going to be influenced really easy.

Where it really matters, Brock, is that obviously, so a lot of people don’t know what’s going down, like how we run our show and everything. There are expenses and costs, and then we run this like a business, and we’ve really enjoyed our time here. But it doesn’t matter if we don’t start at the center of ourselves and begin to make change. We have to elicit change in one another. As a men’s group, we have to be able to lift and help one another. Sometimes it’s harsh. Sometimes it’s help.

And it starts there. And if we can do that for one another, then we can certainly have an impact and influence on another.

Because if you think about it, like, I’ve listened to all our shows. And people, this is us just being men talking. Like, we… This is how we chop it up at home over the barbecue. For sure. Think about our incarceration show. All the people that called want to know about people being incarcerated. Okay, so at the end of the day, we talked about that. The incarceration system is influencing young men and young women saying, hey, we’re going to let you out. But the second they let you out, you’re still stuck with a felony. You’re still stuck with an ankle bracelet. You’re still stuck with monitoring. So the judge may have gave you a sentence, but now society is putting another sentence on you, and they’re influencing what you do when you’re outside. And now you’re making the wrong situation, and you’re going back to prison. Influence is all around us.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, but I really just want to help influence. You know, men in their homes, with their families, with their kids. And their jobs.

Yeah. And their careers.

I mean, I want to give somebody, you know, before the show ends, let’s give tools. I want to help somebody, you know, influence, be a better influence as a husband. And I think that starts with emotional. Maturity. Yeah, I think, I mean, when I do a deep dive into… you know, people’s relationships, you know, there’s jealousy is like the number one, right?

You know how there’s IQs, bro? Like you have an IQ, there’s emotional IQ, there’s a spiritual IQ, intelligent IQ. It’s imperative that we level up in all of those realms, financial. And when there’s no financial literacy, back to ignorance, when you are not financially informed, you can’t make better moves for yourself.

For sure. I just think that. I want to just influence somebody. But I think that’s what we’re saying is as we’re sitting here talking, we’re opening men’s minds. I’m not trying to open anybody’s mind. I’m trying to give them a tool to give them a key. But once you open their mind, it causes a man, at least we’re men. Men generally want to stay to themselves. They’re reserved. They don’t really open up. So if we’re able to get men to start speaking about their situation, I think that’s the main tool that allows them to help their family, allows them to start talking about finances, allows them to start talking to their buddies about, hey, I don’t want to go back to prison.

For sure, if you get a person to open up and start talking, And I think that’s what we’re trying to do as a men’s group. I don’t think we’re just trying to say, oh, I want to help a man be a better husband, even though we want to.

But like Brian, I would like to say that, man. How many husbands and or fathers did get incarcerated? How many husbands and or fathers are being influenced in the wrong direction? So they need to. They’re probably listening now. Makes you wonder.

Because we don’t know. Listen, all three of us, and we’ll include Reno and Andre, we’ve all came from different backgrounds, different walks of life. I think as a man, the way you’re brought up starts with… your parents and and what was happening in their home like you know nature nature nurture right it’s uh there’s the nature and then and then the nurture and then the societal everything like in your school and your friends and the people all that has an influence because what’s the biggest influence on you today let’s let’s talk let’s talk finances is finances one of the biggest influences on you today as a business owner

I’d like to say that I think God’s finally put me in a position in the past like decade maybe of where – I’m not influential, but I’m not also influenced unless it’s by my own choosing to go a direction. So to learn about finance, that was a choice. And I embarked upon that to build a house, to build a business, all of those.

Brian, do you feel like what influences you most?

I would say my pastor. Okay. I’d say because he actually walks the walk. That influences me because that’s where my mindset’s at at the time, to be a better Christian, that you can live the word. The whole narrative is we’re all sinners. I think that’s just a hogwash cop-out to live your lifestyle and do what you want to do. So when they say, oh, well, we all have sin in your life, I just don’t agree with that at all.

Because like in the Bible, when the lady was caught committing you know, adultery, he said, go and sin no more. Like, is there a time? We’re all sinners. We’ve all sinned. Yes, that makes the Bible true. But it doesn’t make the Bible, it doesn’t say in the Bible that you can’t become, you know, you cannot, that you could become perfect in a time. It doesn’t say that.

No, you can’t become perfect. Oh, it doesn’t say that you could or couldn’t. You cannot become perfect. You don’t know that. You cannot. You do not know that. There’s no in a…

The Bible says that we are being perfected, but we will not be perfect. It doesn’t say if you will or won’t. Yeah, but then the individual begins to get caught up in law. So now they’re trying to keep the law as though they could trump Jesus on that.

Well, okay, okay. That’s another topic for another day. With self-righteousness. But what I’m saying is I think people use that narrative of we’re all sinners to accompany them to their lifestyle and the way they want to live.

I don’t think so. I think they realize that they’re sinners. I don’t think there’s any hidden agenda to that. I think the guy who’s an alcoholic who goes to a church, whether it’s Christian, Baptist, Buddhist, I don’t care what establishment he walks in and says, hey, man, I’m a sinner. Sure, I’m trying to do right, but I’m a sinner, but I’m stuck on the bottle. I don’t think he’s trying to hide behind a facade. I think he’s being a real man saying, I’ve got a problem with alcohol. But you’re disagreeing with that. You’re saying that we can be perfect. And this gentleman’s saying I can’t be. I don’t know, man.

Has to be. If you received Christ into your life and you became perfect at that moment, there ain’t no way on earth I’d pick up the Bible and read it because there’d be other books I’d read. I surely wouldn’t even, I wouldn’t step foot in the church because what’s the point of it? I’m perfect. Because you’re made perfect. No, I mean, unless you can dispute that somehow, tell me. I just don’t think you can. I mean, there’s some people that they like. Listen, guys, I would love to be perfect. I would.

If I was perfect, my goodness. Here’s what I know. I mean, at least in my walk, what I’ve experienced is I used to create a chasm between myself and God when I had guilt and shame over a sin while being Christian.

Well, one, yes, it sounds like conviction. But I learned soon enough to start coming back to God very quickly because he’s merciful, more merciful than you could ever imagine.

I just wanted to say, I’m a Christian, but I’m also a physician, and certain things, such as alcohol, there’s a thing called DTs, delirium tremens, and I’ve been dealing with alcohol and drug abuse in treatment for people for years, as well as regular churchgoers, and it is difficult on some drugs, like alcohol, somebody, yes, it’s nice to admit it, and you set yourself on a path, however… Some things can kill you if you withdraw yourself from that substance too quickly without medical intervention.
