On this edition of A Guy’s Perspective, Heath welcomes actor and longtime friend Bobby Lee Black for a deep conversation about consciousness, ego, fear, trauma, love, and spiritual growth.
The discussion explores Bobby’s philosophy of “leaning into the spirit” rather than living through fear-based ego and emotional survival patterns. Together, the two unpack how trauma, resentment, anger, and expectation shape human behavior — and how gratitude, love, and presence can radically transform a person’s outlook and relationships.
Throughout the episode, Bobby shares stories from his own life in entertainment, lessons learned from fame and emptiness, and personal experiences helping strangers through
SPEAKER 05 :
I can’t hide myself I don’t expect you to understand I just hope I can explain What it’s like to be a man It’s a lonely road And they don’t care about what you know It’s not about how you feel But what you provide inside that home
SPEAKER 01 :
welcome to a guy’s perspective where they discuss real life topics that men today are dealing with whether married single parent or just single we invite you to call into this live program with your comments and questions and here they are
SPEAKER 09 :
Hello, hello, hello. Thank you for listening and chiming in to The Guy’s Perspective. I just want to shout out to the guys who are out of the office right now, which is everybody but Heath. So Brock, what’s up? Andre, what’s up? Reno and Brian, I hope you guys are having a good day today. And everybody else, I hope you’re having a good day. I just want to say Mother’s Day is tomorrow and make sure you know that you love on the mothers and make sure that you show them that they’re special. Without any mother, I don’t think anybody would be around. You could agree with me there, I’m sure. Um, let’s see. So for today, um, I do have somebody who called in, his name is Bobby Lee black and, uh, he’s an actor friend of mine. And we go back to a movie called rook that we filmed down in cripple Creek. And you could find that one on, um, probably Amazon prime, uh, not Netflix, but, uh, and some of the other ones, Hulu and Tubi and such. And he and I have been friends for a long time, and I think he wanted to talk about a topic called consciousness. Hey, Bobby, are you there?
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m here, man. I’m here.
SPEAKER 09 :
Hey, brother. It was good to see you today. We just saw each other.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yeah. We did a roundtable read for a project we’re getting ready to start.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, thanks for pulling me on, man. I was just letting the people know that we met on Rooks so many years ago.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yeah, we’ve done some stuff since then, and we’ve been having a good time, man.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. Hey, I was letting the audience know, just so you know, through KLZ 560 here, that there’s over 3 million listeners, man, all the way from Trinidad up to Wyoming and east and west of the Rockies here. oh you there well as as yeah as you know we wanted to talk about some consciousness today right yeah lay it on me man i know we started this topic when we were when we were in route to uh the table read this morning and and touched on a couple of things how i was telling you uh at least all the guys here we were reading uh think and grow rich and then there was another one that by napoleon hill and there was another book i was starting to read which is uh Earl Nightingale, and that’s the strangest secret in the world. And really just trying to tap into positivity and changing my mindset. And that’s when you started letting me know.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I do a thing and I teach a thing called leaning into the spirit. All right. Okay. And what we got to talk about first is the three types of consciousness manifestations. All right, the first is the ego, or the brain, the mind. The second is the body, and the third is the spirit. And the reason we’re going to talk about them in those categories is because I want to get the first two out of the way so we can talk about the important ones.
SPEAKER 09 :
So let me remind people, it’s the ego, the body, the spirit.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes. So we start with the ego. It’s a complex structure of beliefs, okay? that basically is designed to keep you safe. But what we’ve done is we’ve made the mistake of turning over way too much of our consciousness to our egos. We expect it to keep us safe emotionally, to keep us safe financially, to keep us safe socially. You know, we’ve put too much on it, okay? It’s not designed for that. Because basically what you’ve got is you’ve got a belief, okay? A belief is like a stone tower, and it’s made up of evidence, evidence that supports the belief. Then you’ve got a radio antenna sticking out of the top of the tower that sends out automatic thoughts based on the belief, okay? Okay. Those automatic thoughts trigger a part of the brain called the hypothalamus that releases these things called neuropeptides that give us emotions. All right. All right. Well, the problem is, is that we have a belief. It sends out a negative thought, creates an emotion. We have a feeling, and then we use the feeling to back up the belief. It’s a never-ending cycle. It’s a loop. Yeah, it’s just a loop of beliefs supporting themselves based on stuff it made up. So that whole process… in itself is doomed you know how does one break it now well that’s what we’re going to talk about next now now we’ve got now we’ve got the body okay now you now your cells reproduce themselves every 24 to 48 hours just constantly reproducing themselves And they would reproduce themselves based on, first, the cell that they were originally coming from, and then second, and most importantly, the environment into which the cell is reproducing. So if you’ve got a lot of negative peptides flowing through your body, you’ve got a lot of depression, or you’ve got a lot of outrage, or you’ve got a lot of anger, What’s going to happen is when that cell reproduces, it’s going to reproduce to have more receptor sites for the peptides of anger and disappointment on it than it has for happiness and fulfillment. Okay. And on a physiological level, on a cellular level, these cells, Jones, they crave these peptides that they have the receptor sites for. So your subconscious mind goes about the business of creating the circumstances or helping you find the things necessary to trigger those beliefs to have those feelings. And so we get caught in an addictive loop of being addicted to things that make us feel bad or feel good. It works either way.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, man. So it could be a good thing or a bad thing for us.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, the addiction is mandatory. You’re going to be addicted to peptides on a cellular level no matter what happens.
SPEAKER 09 :
Do we have control to make a choice?
SPEAKER 06 :
Absolutely. All right. That’s the key.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right.
SPEAKER 06 :
You see? So there’s another aspect of our consciousness that’s much more important than those other two, and that is the spirit. Okay? Imagine you’ve got a light bulb in the ceiling. It’s the source of all light in the room. Okay? Okay. You cover that light bulb with a box, and now it looks like the light’s gone out. But the light is still the source of light. It’s just bouncing off the inside of the box. You poke holes in the bottom of the box, and now you’ve got what appears to be individual beams of light. But they’re all coming from the same source. Okay? So that’s your spirit. Now you wrap your body around that spirit, and you have yourself an Earth existence. Now what you do with that is based on whether you’re identifying through the spirit or through the ego. If you’re identifying through the ego, the ego works on two fears. The fear of not getting what you want or the fear of losing what you got.
SPEAKER 09 :
And that’s something a lot of people don’t know, but I’ve heard that from you for years now. It’s the fear of losing what you’ve got or not getting what you want.
SPEAKER 06 :
Those two things are responsible for every rotten behavior and every bogus feeling that you’ve ever experienced. Okay? It’s one of those two things always that makes us do that. So that’s how the ego works. The spirit is infinite love. Okay?
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it works through the power of positive love as opposed to the power of negative fear. Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
So what we do is we lean into the spirit. And the way we do that is we start divorcing ourselves from outcomes. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. We show love to other people because it makes us feel good. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
We show love to other people and it makes them feel good. Yeah. In that process of showing love, the spirit flows through us. and circumvent the fear-based ego. But the key is that you have to be loving people because they need love, not because you want a desired outcome of them changing or being better or being good people or whatever. You know what I mean? And so you divorce yourself from outcomes. You find yourself back in the present, in the moment, not in the future, not in the past, but in the moment. and you love as purely as you can the people around you. And when you do that, you flood your system with joyful peptides, okay? And so when those cells reproduce themselves, they’re going to be jonesing for joy instead of jonesing for depression or anger. So now your subconscious goes about the business of creating the circumstances that are necessary to bring you joy. So one can see the world as it is.
SPEAKER 09 :
So one can kind of change their position or circumstance or predisposition just by leaning into the love, leaning into selflessness and and leaning into joy. Absolutely. But what about what about, man, when sometimes it feels like, you know, imposter syndrome or fake it to make it when when when somebody is just happy or jovial and it’s like it seems like a facade is.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s a whole that’s a whole different thing. Is that a trick bag?
SPEAKER 09 :
Is that a trick bag or is that is that a path to like what you’re talking about?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, it’s a trick bag. It’s a total trick bag because what’s happening is your feelings and your beliefs are remaining the same, but you’re just painting on a smile. You know, what we’re talking about here is we’re talking about the authoring of reality much, much more than we’re talking about positive thinking. Okay. Positive thinking is a very passive approach. You know, it, it, it, And it makes you feel a little bit better, but it doesn’t have an effect on your surroundings the way love does.
SPEAKER 09 :
Brother, I got a question, man. So you’re talking about authoring one’s reality, almost augmenting, maybe not even augmenting, but actually changing the circumstance and the reality that they live in. Is that because we are created and therefore we are created to be creators and we can create our reality?
SPEAKER 06 :
Absolutely, man. I mean, there’s never-ending mentions of this throughout all the spiritual texts, you know. And it’s important to know that there’s five world paradigms, okay? You’ve got the world paradigm of the world is a battlefield. That’s where you’ve got to fight for everything you get, and you’ve got to fight to keep it. Then you’ve got the world as a classroom where you’re here to learn lessons so that you can move on to greater arena. Then you’ve got the world as a trap where you’re just trying to ascend above the world because it’s messy stickiness. Then you’ve got the world as a machine. This one is the corporate reality. This is where you’re just another gear in a series of gears that does a particular job. But what the deal is, and the way that we can walk in this, is with the paradigm of the world as a loved one.
SPEAKER 09 :
The world as a loved one?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. And what do you want for your loved ones? Do you want them to be happy? Do you want them to have the things they want? Do you want them to be fulfilled? Absolutely.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
And so if you look at the world as a loved one, it will respond to you as a loved
SPEAKER 09 :
Hmm. Yeah. So so one can have the victim paradigm. Everything’s happening to me. Then then you can have some people swing at the other end of the pendulum, which is just I’m going to take it. Everything is mine for the taking. And sometimes those people seem to be quite powerful. But I would I would argue empty inside.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you know, I’ve been on top of the mountain a couple of times in my entertainment career where I’ve had way more than I needed and I had way more fame than anybody should have and all that kind of stuff. And it did nothing to fulfill me. Empty. Nothing to fulfill me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Empty.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it was really disappointing because I was convinced on my way up the mountain that once I got to the top of the mountain that I would be fulfilled. And that wasn’t true. It wasn’t any more true in the valley than it is on the top of the mountain. You’re not fulfilled by the things outside of you. You’re fulfilled by the things inside. And what needs to be inside of you is love, not hunger, not fear, not any of those things, but love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Because that’s what you are. Well, let’s just say Solomon is vanity of vanities. Everything is vanity and vexation of spirit and love. And so it’s all wanting. And then we also know that, you know, anything done in the world, whether we’re speaking tongues of angels and of men, whether we’re, you know, we can lay hands and heal people. If we do any of these things without love, it’s like worthless.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s nothing.
SPEAKER 09 :
It means nothing. It means nothing.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, and that’s the deal. You know what I mean? So when you let your ego do its thing… and get out there and start manipulating circumstances to get your desired outcomes and all that stuff, there’s never enough. Because you’re trying to fill what I call the God hole with, you’re trying to fill it with stuff. Right. It’s not a stuff hole.
SPEAKER 09 :
Everything under the sun, yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and I’ve done it. I’ve played the game. I’ve done all the things that you can do besides love people. And I’ve been successful in some arenas and other arenas I wasn’t. But when it’s all said and done, I was unfulfilled. Because I’ve been given a job on this planet. We all have. And our job is to love God and love our neighbors, okay?
SPEAKER 09 :
Can I quote that scripture? Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, body, and soul, and love thy neighbor as thyself. And Bobby, I want to tell you, man, with me, one of the things I’ve reverse engineered that, and the very last thing on that list is love thy neighbor as thyself, thyself being the last thing. But it’s almost like a position that is needed and for somebody to be humble because humility is selfless to be able to move forward with, but also that we’re included in that scripture, which is love thy neighbor as thyself. So how do I love myself? I’ve always said this. If I love me 50%, how could I possibly love anybody 100%? Absolutely.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s absolutely true. I have to love Heath. I look in the mirror and I love you, Heath. And the things that we hold against ourselves, our shortcomings, our bad behaviors, our mistakes, our mishaps, our slip-ups, things that we hold against ourselves are not held against us in heaven. You’ve got to remember that.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Don’t sweat the small stuff, man. You know, because here’s the deal, man. In the Old Testament, man, the old days, they used to do a thing where where they did the laying of the hands on a lamb, right? And then they sacrificed the lamb. Well, when you took the lamb to the priest, and the priest represented God in this circumstance, when you took the lamb to the priest, the lamb didn’t look at the dude. The priest didn’t look at the dude. The priest looked at the lamb. to make sure that the lamb was worthy of sacrifice. He didn’t look at the dude. He knew the dude was up to no good. That’s why he was here. He didn’t even look at the guy. He looked at the lamb. And they did the sacrifice, and that man walked away with the pureness of that particular lamb instead of the sin of his particular… Okay, so that flashed forward to the New Testament… Now we have the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, amen.
SPEAKER 06 :
So when I come before the throne to say, hey, man, I blew it, God sees Jesus.
SPEAKER 09 :
Not you.
SPEAKER 06 :
He doesn’t see me. He sees the Lamb, and he looks at the Lamb, and he says the Lamb is worthy of sacrifice, and it has been sacrificed, and I’m well pleased. So when Bobby shows up at the throne, God sees Jesus. And he’s stoked every time.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, and I feel that same way, man. That’s why I love being Holy Spirit filled is because I see it as a paradigm that Jesus laid down the gauntlet to tell people that, hey, your self-righteousness and your works won’t get you to heaven. And no one is worthy, no, not one. And he said that you’ve heard it said in the commandments that even if you look upon a woman with lust in your heart, you’ve committed the act of adultery. And even if you hate your brother, you’ve committed the act of murder. And so he simultaneously made it more difficult and more simple to be able to attain salvation.
SPEAKER 06 :
And the key to this whole thing is leaning into the Spirit. That’s our responsibility. You know, the responsibility that we have with this vessel we’ve been given, your Heath and my Bobby, is to lean it into the spirit so that it doesn’t act up. Yeah. So that it’s not scared all the time. You know, we were cautioned not to fear 365 times.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, do not be afraid.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do not be afraid. Do not be anxious. Do not pray, you know. It went on and on. Because when you’re in fear, you’re not in love. And if you’re not in love, then you’re not being a vessel and you can’t be used.
SPEAKER 09 :
So fear is like an alignment on a car. You’re out of alignment if you’re living in fear because it’s going to veer you off the road, man. You’re going to hit that curb or something you don’t want to. Hey, let me let our listeners know real quick. We got about five minutes for the half on this show. If you’re having a good time listening to the guy’s perspective here and Bobby Lee Black, who’s called in to talk about consciousness here. then give us a ring, and you could ask us some questions. I’m not sure if we could have two people on the line at once, but Charlie knows that in the booth. And so, oh, he says, yeah, thumbs up. Thanks, Charlie. So if somebody does call in with a question, I guess you could even ask Bobby, too. And let’s continue on this path, brother, if you want to keep on going.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, well, let’s keep on powering forward. Yeah, about five minutes until the half show. Okay. So when you lean into the spirit, you can tell that you’re there because you’re out of the future. You’re out of the past. You’re in the moment, you know, you’re just there doing what’s in front of you as it comes along. And this is where the peace beyond understanding comes from. Right. You know, we were told worry about nothing, pray about everything, give thanks, and you’ll know peace beyond understanding. Okay? So when you worry about nothing, that means you’re out of fear. Pray about everything. That means you’re seeking higher consciousness. And you give thanks for everything. That way you’re in a place of gratitude. Once you’re in a place of gratitude, you can’t be doing anything but love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Ooh. Yeah. Yeah. And you keep saying peace beyond understanding. I know it as peace that surpasses all understanding.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Same thing. Same difference.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. Yeah. And that’s the deal because you’ll be at peace when everything’s falling apart around you and it won’t make any sense. And the reason that it doesn’t make any sense is because you’re not running out and trying to manipulate your circumstances to make things go your way. You’re just letting things happen. Yeah. I mean, that’s what the dude did, man. That’s what Jesus did. The dude. He let it happen.
SPEAKER 09 :
I love it, man. There’s something that like you’re actually touching on this one guy, Propaganda. He’s like a rapper, a poet. And he says something when he talked to his dad who was on like his third marriage and all of this stuff, you know, just a wrecked life. He’s like, how do you make it work? And he says, you’ve got to look past the bombs, son, either the bombs that never got you and the bombs that never came. And so his wreckage of family was always because he was focusing on what didn’t happen or kill him and what hasn’t shown up. He wasn’t present. And so it’s about being present. Yeah, and when you’re present, you can have gratitude.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Because you’re not looking forward at what you don’t got, and you’re not looking back at what you didn’t get. You’re looking at what you have.
SPEAKER 09 :
Remember 38 Special, man? Hold on loosely, but don’t let go.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s the deal, man. Hold on loosely, baby. The tighter you hold it, the weirder it gets. You know?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, man. Sometimes you just got to float down the river instead of struggle up it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, stop trying to swim up the river, man. Get in an inner tube.
SPEAKER 09 :
Bro, I almost drowned in the Platte River, man, when I got kicked off of an inner tube with my cousin. And I was struggling swimming up it like a salmon. Almost drowned, and I gave it up to God, and it pushed me out. Jesus. That’s how it works. Yeah, man. Wow. This is great. So is this something that you actually kind of teach on, consciousness?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, yes, it is. I’ve got a website that deals with, it’s got some meditation tapes that help you get to that place where you can lean into the spirit a little better.
SPEAKER 09 :
Before we go into the half, give your website, man.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s called rememberers.net. So it’s just the word remember with an ERS at the end, rememberers, because I’m not teaching anybody anything they don’t know. I’m just helping them remember what they forgot.
SPEAKER 09 :
Brilliant. That’s brilliant. Man, it’s a joy to have you here on the show, Bobby.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, I’m glad to be here, man. I always love hanging out with you and talking about this stuff.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I know we do this a lot. We chop it up a lot just on the phone or in person, and it’s nice to welcome you to the show. And I wish the guys were around so that they could hear you too because we’ve got Andre, Reno, Brian, and myself, and Brock too. But they’re out of town right now, and so I’m happy to have your company, my friend. I think we’re about to go.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, man. Are you going to go into the half?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, if Charlie says it’s time.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right. Catch us on the other side, people. We’ll be here for you. All right. All right.
SPEAKER 05 :
I don’t expect you to understand I just hope I can explain What it’s like to be a man It’s a lonely road And they don’t care about what you know. It’s not about how you feel, but what you provide inside that home.

SPEAKER 01 :
welcome to a guy’s perspective where they discuss real life topics that men today are dealing with whether married single parent or just single we invite you to call in to this live program with your comments and questions and here they are
SPEAKER 09 :
Hey, hey, everybody. It’s Heath with The Guy’s Perspective here. I’m the only one in the studio today at KLZ 560. If you want to call in and you were listening to the other half of the show, I’m on the phone with Bobby Lee Black talking about consciousness. Our phone number here is 303-477-5600. Again, that’s 303-477-5600. Give us a call. Mr. Bobby Lee Black, are you still there?
SPEAKER 06 :
I sure am. We were talking about my website when we closed out just a little bit ago. Remembers.com. Remembers.net.
SPEAKER 09 :
.net.
SPEAKER 06 :
.net. And we’ve got some meditation tapes on there that utilize a lot of different technologies and a lot of different modalities that help us get to that place where we can lean into the spirit a lot easier. Okay? Okay. And one of the keys to that is going beyond the limited consciousness. Imagine this. You’ve got a cone, you know, like a cone. And at the top of the cone, the widest part of the cone is enlightenment. That’s where you love everyone all the time. You are experiencing life with everyone through love. Down at the bottom of the cone, we’ve got shame. That’s where you’re thinking about yourself all the time. It’s a very narrow consciousness. It only includes you. Right above that, we’ve got fear. Still, it just includes you. Right above that, we’ve got anger. Right above that, we’ve got revenge. Those are all very narrow consciousnesses down at the bottom of that cone. Because you’re thinking mostly of yourself.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay? And as you move beyond that consciousness, as you move beyond the consciousness of what happened to me, and you learn the truth that I am not what happened to me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Hmm. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
I am no longer defined by my trauma. My trauma is something that happened that does not happen now. You dig? Yeah, yeah. And so we get beyond the thoughts of revenge. Did you know that self-destruction is a form of revenge?
SPEAKER 09 :
Revenge on self? Revenge on the one who hurt you?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, we make ourselves suffer so those that hurt us can see that we are in pain.
SPEAKER 09 :
Brother, that’s kind of like, isn’t it said that with like hating someone is like taking the poison and hoping it hurts them?
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s exactly what the self-destructive act of revenge is about.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
We want them to see that we’re suffering. Ooh. Yeah. Heavy, man. It’s very heavy. Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
So I do have a question concerning the cone, man, not to interject too much, but concerning the cone. Were we all at one point acting in and working in love? I mean, do we all have the capacity to act in and work in love?
SPEAKER 06 :
When we’re little, before we learn how to talk.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. Words, man. Words hurt everything, huh?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. Yeah. Once we learn how to talk and we start developing our own little belief systems and our own little trip, our own little egos, we start getting further and further from the love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. And the more we lean into the third dimension, into earth, into the flesh, into the ego, the more difficult and the more struggle that we find internally. Even though we may go out and make a million bucks and have a big house and a beautiful car and a wonderful wife and great kids and a picket fence and a dog, even though we got all the stuff, we’re still struggling internally because we’re not fulfilling our purpose. We’re not fulfilling our true nature. See, that’s the thing. Not loving people is the hardest thing to do. It takes more work to not love people than it does anything because your natural instinct is to love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Does this – there was a book I read. I thought it was the – I don’t know if it was Key Person of Influence or – what was the other one? It was – Something to do with perspective. But when your opportunity meets preparation, then you’ll find your purpose.
SPEAKER 06 :
Absolutely. And the preparation, imagine yourself as a river, okay? And the water is flowing through you and out of you into the world, right? Well, you’ve got rocks in your river. Now, it doesn’t impede the flow. It doesn’t stop the flow. It just slows the flow down. It just makes the flow a little more difficult to get out because it’s got to get around your rock, your pride, your fear, your anger, your resentment, all those things that keep you from leaning completely into the spirit. And so your responsibility is to try to get them rocks out of the river.
SPEAKER 09 :
Because there are rocks. We’re the ones carrying them.
SPEAKER 06 :
There are rocks. Yeah, yeah. You get rocks in your backpack, baby. Every time something rotten happens, whether you did it or somebody else did it, they put a rock in your backpack, man. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and the load gets heavy. The load gets heavy if we don’t let them go.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, and if you’ve got a handful of rocks in both hands, right? And I come over with a bucket of gold and I pour it over your hands. Most of the coins aren’t going to stick because your hands are already full.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
If you drop the rocks, Then, when I come along with a bucket full of gold, you’re going to get two handfuls of gold. Now, if you grab a hold of the two handfuls and close your hands again, that’s the only two handfuls you’re going to get. If you keep your hands open…
SPEAKER 09 :
Keep your hands open. Yeah, on that same line, man, a friend of mine, Doug Fatt, he’s in the industry with us, he said that a closed hand and a closed heart can neither give nor receive. And what I understand this to be is conduit. Are we open? Are we closed?
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. And that’s what we are. We’re conduits. We’re just a conduit for that beam of light I was talking about that is within us that is connected to God.
SPEAKER 09 :
Man.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Man. So stop even holding on. Stop holding on. Stop holding on to the stuff in the past, people, and stop holding on to the hope of the future of the things. Be present right now.
SPEAKER 06 :
Be present right now because the abundance that is available to you right now, right here, if you’re being a conduit, is amazing. Yeah. There’s so much more to be had from life. than what you’ve ever dared imagine, you know. Since I’ve been on this walk, since I’ve been doing these things, I’ve had all kinds of amazing opportunities take place in my life. I’ve been a radio DJ, a professional wrestler, a columnist, a preacher, an actor. I’ve done all kinds of stuff.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because I was open. I had my hands open. I didn’t close my hands around any one of the gifts I was given.
SPEAKER 09 :
You dig? Yeah, yeah. I get it.
SPEAKER 06 :
And because of that, I’ve lived a life second to none. And I’m continually fulfilled because I spend as much of my life as I can in service of others.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’ve often said, and let’s kind of tie that back to something spiritual, which you said you found your position in the boat, if you will, which is to pull people into the boat and not worry about whether they stay on it or drop off and anything like that. You just pull them in.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s my only job is to get them out of the water, get them in the boat. That’s it. Where they go from there, that’s up to them. If they dive back in the water and I see them again, I’ll pull them out again. It doesn’t matter. Whatever. But my only job is pulling people out of the water. I don’t even turn around to see where they went.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Because you’d be out of your lane. You’d be doing things that really weren’t your purpose. Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ll tell you a great story, man. I love this story, all right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, lay it on me. One moment. Hold it there. Again, you guys are listening to The Guy’s Perspective at KLZ 560. And if you want to call in with any questions pertaining to this with consciousness, 303-477-5600. And we got Bobby Lee Black talking about consciousness.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right. So I’m, I’m in Walmart, right? I’m standing in line and I look over and a couple lines over, there’s this woman that looks like a total Karen. Okay. She’s just angry. Um, bottom job jutted out, you know, she’s ready to scream at a manager any given moment. And, and those women scare me really bad. Okay. I’m 6’6″. I’m covered with tattoos. I usually got a big, bushy mustache. I look like I just came off the last season of Sunday Hour.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, you do.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m the last guy in the world that a Karen wants to talk to. She will call the cops on me before she’ll talk to me. You know what I mean? So those women scare me. So I look at her, and I hear in my head, I hear, it’s not her fault. And I’m like, oh, yeah, I get it. It’s not her fault. She probably had a rough COVID and turned it into Karen. I get it. And then I look back at her voice gets louder. It’s not her fault. So it hits me three times and I realize, oh, man, I got to go talk to this woman and I’m freaked out, you know. So I go over there and I said, hey, you know, you don’t know me. This is going to sound crazy, but I’m supposed to tell you it’s not your fault. puckered up like she just sucked a lemon man she said what through her teeth you know and I thought oh man I’m going to jail and I told her look man I know this sounds crazy but God told me to tell you that it’s not your fault and she stood there for a minute and she started to cry and then she hugged me and then I started to cry and so here’s this biker and this Karen at Walmart hugging each other just sobbing like a couple of idiots you know what I mean And, you know, we pull our stuff together and get back in our respective lines. And she thanked me repeatedly. And I lit out of there like my boat was on fire. Now, I never found out what happened. I never found out what wasn’t her fault. I didn’t know nothing about it. But it’s none of my business. What my business was was to pull her out of the water.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. That was it. See, and I get that, man. And I know that from like an earthly view, there’s hindsight is 20-20, and you can look back and see what the purpose was. And sometimes when God chooses to reveal to you, like I’m certain in your life experiences that you’ve had some opportunity to see what your involvement in someone’s life meant or did. Yeah. But in this circumstance, as of yet, you don’t know anything about the Karen, the puckered up, lemon-faced, crying Karen.
SPEAKER 06 :
I have no idea. I don’t know what wasn’t her fault, but I know it definitely wasn’t her fault and she needed to know. You know, and And, and, and I just did it. I just, I just took the roll of the dice, you know, I’m going to look like an idiot. I’m going to get the cops called on me.
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t know what’s going to happen. That’s funny, man. That’s funny that one of your greatest fears is Karen’s. Are they still, are they still a worry after this experience?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, they still scare me, you know, because I know they got their cell phone. They got 911 on speed dial. They’re ready, you know.
SPEAKER 09 :
Wound really tight, Karens. Come on, don’t be wound so tight.
SPEAKER 06 :
Wound rather tight, I will have you know. Yeah, so that was just one of those times, and I could go on and on about those times where I just closed my eyes and jumped in the deep end of the pool and hoped for the best, and And it went great because the spirit knows what’s supposed to be done and what’s not supposed to be done.
SPEAKER 09 :
Is it pertinent or does it pertain to this storyline? The one guy that, wasn’t there a guy that came from like, he’s like a Buddhist monk and he came into the tattoo shop and he said he’s supposed to tell you something from God?
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah, the Indian dude from India. So, Dick, I’m sitting out in front of my tattoo shop, and I see this guy standing in the parking lot looking up in the air. And so I look up in the air, and I don’t see nothing, and I think, well, whatever. And then he comes and he says, I’m here to see a movie star. And I don’t consider myself a movie star. I’ve worked with a lot of movie stars. I’m just a guy that shows up and does his job. You know what I mean? I make the movie stars look good. That’s my job. But I said, well, I do movies. And he said, well, I’m here to see you. And so he sits down and he does a couple little magic tricks for me to show me that he knows stuff. And I’m like, yeah, I dig it, man. You don’t got to prove nothing to me. What do you got? And he gave me some beads to wear around my neck. And he told me that he would see me on television with those beads on. And I’m like, okay, whatever. And we just talked back and forth a little bit, and then he told me the things that I’m doing are the things that need to be done and to keep doing what I’m doing and to do it with 100%, you know, especially over the next couple of months. Do it with 100%.
SPEAKER 09 :
And sometimes we need that, people. I mean… Again, this is the Guy’s Perspective. We try to aim to edify and encourage and uplift people and give you an opportunity to kind of share your stories here at Guy’s Perspective, KLZ 560. Our phone number is 303-477-5600. But that’s the thing is sometimes just a word of encouragement, man, keeps people on the straight and narrow or at least on the path. Even if it’s a crooked stick, it could draw a straight line. And even if it’s a crooked path, it could lead you to the, I don’t know, to heaven, I guess.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, yeah, no, that’s absolutely true. And that encouragement thing is one of the things that we do to share love.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
you know i mean it can be something as simple as smiling at somebody in 7-eleven man it doesn’t it doesn’t have to be a big grandiose moment you don’t have to just run around hugging and kissing everybody all the time you know what i mean but people people need to be loved in different ways and if you let your spirit tell you how they need to be loved you will love them properly approachability man what about that what about people being approachable
SPEAKER 09 :
How does that matter?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, my appearance is very unapproachable. You know, I don’t look like the guy you want to walk up and talk to.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right, like you said, 6’6″?
SPEAKER 06 :
Covered in tattoos, look like I just fell off of the season’s anarchy. You know what I mean? It’s like, you know, most people would think this guy’s going to be mean, you know? He’s going to be mean to me. You know what I mean? If I share my feelings with him, he’ll make fun of me. But if they spend just a moment with me, they will feel that that’s not true.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, because I am approachable, because I keep my heart open. See, that’s one of the scariest things that we do, because our ego says, don’t keep your heart open because people will hurt your feelings. Well, the only way somebody can hurt your feelings is if you have a desired outcome.
SPEAKER 09 :
Expectation is the mother of all. Wait, how does that go? Expectation leads to disappointment.
SPEAKER 06 :
The mother of all disappointment.
SPEAKER 09 :
There it was. I knew it was somewhere on the tip of the tongue.
SPEAKER 06 :
If I don’t have an expectation, it can’t disappoint me.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s power.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s the key. If I don’t have a desired outcome in my behavior, I will not feel ripped off when I don’t get the desired outcome.
SPEAKER 09 :
Man, it seems so easy. It’s simple.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s not easy.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s simple, but it’s not easy. Oh, God, that’s true. Simple, but not easy.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s super simple, man. The simple thing is love God, love your neighbor, and shut up. You know what I mean? That’s the simple thing. It’s that simple. But to get your ego to shut up enough so that you can hear your spirit, so that you can do your work, that’s work.
SPEAKER 09 :
So it takes time. So coming into the last 10 minutes of the show here. Um, uh, so have you talked to us all the way through? Um, we’ve got ego and the body and the, the spirit. Was that where those things, right? Is there any other parting things that you need to kind of express to people about how they can find this, this, this way back to love? Like, again, we all have the capacity to,
SPEAKER 06 :
We all need to… It’s not about finding your way back. It’s not about working your way to it. It’s not about any of that. It’s about letting it. The Spirit is infinite. It is connected to God. It is nothing but love. And it is capable of everything. Right? Right. Yes. Because we were given a spirit, a Holy Spirit, to remind us of the things that we were taught so that we can get our egos to quiet down enough. that we can hear the spirit talk.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. It’s still a small voice, man. It’s still a small voice.
SPEAKER 06 :
That still small voice, if you listen to it enough, becomes a very clear ice and structure. You know? Yeah, that’s actually… Listening to it is the key.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, that’s actually something. I mean, you know me, man. I’ve read my Bible quite a few times. I certainly love the Lord and I love people. But I got to admit, man, one thing I haven’t had in my life is any of that clear voice and direction. And the only thing I can lean on in Scripture is, blessed are those who believe and have not yet seen. And so in a lot of capacities, I haven’t seen, I mean, or heard.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it’s super common, man. It’s super common, you know, because we develop our egos to the point that our egos think that if it’s not in control, it’s going to die. And this thing that a lot of people talk about, about ego death, it’s something that happens. But it doesn’t just happen once. It’s not like you just have an ego death and now you’re just groovy. You know what I mean? It happens regularly. where there are parts of our psyche that we let go of that no longer serve us, that no longer serve our purpose. And that’s part of our ego death. You dig?
SPEAKER 09 :
Is flesh and ego, because I think of, I don’t know if it was Paul.
SPEAKER 06 :
Same difference.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. So warring against one another when the flesh wars against the spirit and saying that, how did it go? The things I will to do that I do not do and the things that I will not to do that I do.
SPEAKER 06 :
And poor Paul, you know, he suffered, man. He had the brain of a Pharisee and the heart of a Christian. Can you imagine what that was like? That had to be suffering. His belief system, his brain, everything in his brain was legalism. Every inch of his brain. He was raised to be a Pharisee, so much so that he actually became a Pharisee and a Sadducee, a lawyer and a preacher. Okay? And His mind is completely legalistic. Every belief in his mind has something to do with legalism. And then he’s got this heart full of grace. And he fought with it. And if you read his letters, you can tell, man. You know, it’s like legalism, legalism, legalism, legalism, grace, grace, grace, grace, grace. Or it’s grace, grace, grace, grace, grace, legalism, legalism, grace. And that was his struggle. That was his thorn in his side that he talked about. And he struggled with it until the day he died. Because your brain is your flesh. It’s just an organ.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, well, well, so one of my favorite scriptures, Bobby, and it’s because, you know, I’m in film and a lot of people don’t know this man, but, uh, obviously, uh, as a Christian, I play all kinds of roles and stuff. I’m not Kirk Cameron. So I don’t, I don’t just lean into, uh, those, those happy go Hallmark movies, man. I play Satan. Um, I play Satan in bored as hell. And, uh, one of the scriptures that I use for myself, at least to, you know, make me feel better about it is, uh, Though I am not a slave, I have made myself a slave, that I might win the more. To those who are under the law, as though under the law, that I might win those who are under the law. And to those who are without law, as though without law, not without law toward God, but under law toward Christ, that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I have made myself weak, that I might… win the week. I’ve become all things to all men that by all means, I might save some. And I do all of this in the gospel that I might be partaker of it with you. The reason why I follow that one man for me is I do, I, I feel as though I’ve, I become a lot of things. I emulate, I mimic, I, I, uh, uh, you know, try to do that, but I do it for love. Like, you know, I, I want, I want to connect.
SPEAKER 06 :
What we do, you and I especially, because we approach this thing from a place of service to a place of love, we learn to be something that we would otherwise hold in dubious distinction. You know what I mean? Something that we wouldn’t dig. And I learned this from Gary Sinise. You don’t judge the character the way you judge another person. Because you don’t judge yourself that way. If you want to be the character, if you want to be the character, you have to find the humanity in that character that gives you his motivation and gives you his mindset.
SPEAKER 10 :
Wow.
SPEAKER 06 :
You dig? And so you become these villains. When you look like me, you’re always a bad guy. And you become these villains. And you’re able to be able to walk in their shoes, so to speak. Therefore, you can develop compassion for their struggle.
SPEAKER 09 :
Wow. Wow, man, I wish we had more time than this, Bobby. Obviously, you and I, we know each other. But to have this on the radio and have people hear this, we’ve only got about three minutes left. And I was going to ask, man, would you want to pray for all the listeners, the three million listeners, and maybe also talk about Mother’s Day and how that matters?
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, sure. Absolutely, man. Father, I come before you with my brother Heath and all those that are tuned in right now. And I just ask that you remind them that they are protected in your glory, that you are their strong tower, that they have your wings wrapped around them. They have hedges of protection. around them and their families and their loved ones, that all of their families will come into the fold of the Lord, because you said so, and your word doesn’t return to you void. Our names are written in Lamb’s Book of Life. We have new power. We have the power of Jesus Christ, who strengthens us and allows us to do anything. And just remember that we are your chosen children. that every single one of us that are listening right now and all the ones that aren’t listening, we are all your favorite kids because when we approach the throne, you see Jesus. And when you see Jesus, you’re well pleased. And we thank you for that. And we thank you in advance for all the abundance and all the love and all the power and all the strength that you’re going to pour out over the listeners of this station because we know that it pleases you to bless us. We thank you in advance for all that you do, seen and unseen. In the name of Jesus.
SPEAKER 09 :
In the name of Jesus, amen. And going into Mother’s Day, thank you, all you mothers, and my mother especially, for giving us the opportunity to live this life and walk this walk. Thanks for the talk, Bobby. Wow, man.
SPEAKER 06 :
And remember, man, be groovy with mom. Even though she may have been a bummer when you were a kid, you know, you only get one. And mine passed away a couple of years ago, and I had the privilege of being there with her the whole time. And she was scared to death to die because she thought she was going to hell.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, brother. My friend Philly, he says, one day there will be no mama. That’s a pretty bold statement.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, it happens, you know. It happens. So love the mom you got, even though she may have been a bummer. She probably did the best she could do with what she had to work with, man. Cut her some slack. She’s just people.
SPEAKER 09 :
Amen. Bless you, Bobby Lee Black, and love all you people out there. Thanks for tuning in to KLZ 560 and The Guy’s Perspective. We’ll see you next time.
SPEAKER 05 :
I don’t expect you to understand I just hope I can explain What it’s like to be a man It’s a lonely road And they don’t care about what you know It’s not about how you feel But what you provide inside that hole
