The Colorado State Legislature advanced the bill yesterday, late into the night, which was the bill that takes away our rights. This is from Colorado Newsline. Colorado Senate Committee advances bill to ban guns that accept detachable magazines. And again, that testimony all went to very, very late yesterday. But this is taking away the right to keep and bear firearms to protect ourselves against bad actors. And so again, as we’re going through this list, policy, legislation, And so, yeah, the Colorado State Legislature, the Colorado Governor, the World Health Organization. I guess we don’t have to say that one right now because we are out of that. Land use codes, zoning regulations, force fees, conservation easements, national monument designations, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. If something’s a good idea, we should not need to use force to implement it. On the show, we’re focusing on the issues and not the personalities. And there’s always all these factions, which gets our attention off of the principles, these values, foundational values that we need to be reclaiming for our state and for our country. There’s a lot going on. Our word of the day is aperture, and it’s spelled A-P-E-R-T-U-R-E. It’s a noun. Number one, it could be an opening such as a hole, gape, or slit. Number two, a usually acceptable opening in an optical instrument such as a camera. Or a telescope that limits the amount of light passing through a lens or onto a mirror. And so that is our word of the day. I think that we could use it easily when we’re looking at the Trump administration. He’s kind of kicking in his aperture here regarding electricity. the mandate to reclaim America. The headlines are just, they keep on coming, and we’ll talk about those here in just a moment. Our quote of the show, or quote for today, is from George Whitefield. He was born in 1714. He died in 1770. He was also known as George Whitefield. He was an English Anglican minister and preacher who was one of the founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement. He was born in Gloucester, and he matriculated at Pembroke College, Oxford in 1732. He then joined the Holy Club and was introduced to John and Charles Wesley, with whom he worked closely in his later ministry. Unlike the Wesleys, he embraced Calvinism. And he said this, he said, “‘Press forward, do not stop, “‘do not linger in your journey, “‘but strive for the mark set before you.'” And again, George Whitefield, press forward. Do not stop. Do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. I did choose three things on this day in history that I thought were interesting. 1594, on this day in history, and I get this from on this day, mathematician John Napier dedicates his plain discovery of the whole revelation of St. John to King James VI. He predicts the end of the world in 1688 or 1700. In 1892, the Coca-Cola Company is incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia. And then I thought this was super interesting because I’ve asked this question and I have not really seen an answer to this. And in 2021, the proposal to prevent the feminization of male adolescence is published by China’s Education Ministry, and it asks schools to use sports to cultivate masculine masculinity. So China is doing that. That’s 2021. And over here, we’ve had this movement regarding the transgender activism, telling boys that they can be girls and girls can be boys and boys can be in girls’ restrooms. Trump is going to do something about that or is doing something about that. And in fact, this is from NBC News and says Trump signed sweeping order to further restrict trans care for minors nationwide. This is really, really huge. And it says the order titled Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation intends to restrict access to gender. They call it gender affirming care. It would be medical mutilation. or pharmaceutical mutilation of children, including puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and that they’re defined as those younger than 19. It prohibits federal funding from covering such care for minors, restricts Research and education grants to medical schools and hospitals and directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to issue regulations to end such care for minors. And then today, RFK Jr. will be on Capitol Hill for his hearing for Senate confirmation. And I believe that starts at 8 a.m. our time. And you can watch that live. That hearing and I know many, many people are going to be super interested in that. So this again is really huge with this sweeping order by Trump. So next headline that I wanted to hit as we. Had mentioned Donald Trump said that he was going to put a freeze on all federal grants and until we can get a hand handle on those grants and loans, a federal judge blocked that. So that is going to be interesting to see how that plays out. And then let’s see. Next thing, ICE has been very, very busy. And this is from U.S. News. Trump administration gives ICE quota of 1,800 arrests per day across the United States. And they are serious about this. Did see the photo of Kristi Noem as the head of Homeland Security. She had what looked like a flak vest on. She is pretty gorgeous, I have to say. She wore it well. But they’re serious. And so that is pretty remarkable. And here in Colorado yesterday, Let me get to this Colorado drug bust. This is from Fox News. Colorado drug bust uncovers cartel connected illegal aliens and approximately one hundred and thirty thousand fentanyl pills, which that could kill a lot of people. And this drug bust was near Denver, Colorado. And it was two cartel connected illegal aliens and the seizure of various drugs, including this very large stash of fentanyl pills. It was a joint operation of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s Rocky Mountain Field Division and the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force. They executed a search warrant at an apartment complex in the Denver area on Monday morning. And it showed the law enforcement officers approaching and then breaching the door to the first level apartment. And it says the two men were not identified by name, but they were arrested. And the message to the bad guys, the next door we kick in just may be yours. RMFD captioned one of its videos from the bust. So they are very, very serious. Let’s see. Next thing, Donald Trump. The Trump administration is offering buyouts to all federal workers with it’s not all of them, but quite a few ahead of their return to the office. And he’s offering this to 2 million federal employees to a buyout if they do not intend to return to work in person later this year. And this is from The Hill that I’m reporting this. It says, four sources confirmed to The Hill that the emails are set to go out beginning Tuesday evening to the federal employees informing workers that they can retain benefits and be paid through September if they hand in their resignation by February 6th. Let’s see. One other thing, this here in Colorado, this is from KUSA TV. It says a nonprofit receives an order from Trump, the Trump administration, to stop programs for immigrants. And it’s the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network has been ordered to stop three programs providing services and resources to to immigrants in detention or fighting deportation proceedings in Colorado as a result of an executive order signed by President Trump. So there is much going on and we want to keep you informed on that. Have great guests here. Well, great to have you. And let’s talk just a little bit about the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. You’ve been volunteering with the group for quite some time, and it provides an amazing service for the people of Colorado. We look at legislation that is proposed within our pledge and work to protect the taxpayer, which is everybody. Colorado’s Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights, also known as TABOR, property rights, school choice. And so we will review all of the bills that are scheduled for hearing. And then I will put that out. The bills that look like they fit into our pledge, I’ll put that out to our team on Friday evening. You guys work all weekend to come up with a position. If we have a majority position on that, then we will Take a position, obviously, on that. Send an email to all legislators, the governor, and our email list of our members, and really working to keep people informed, Wendy.

Yes, and this analysis, by the way, is really a synopsis of the bills and the problems or the benefits of that bill. Very easy to read, not something that’s time-consuming. You can breeze through it fairly easily to find the things that affect you.

I think you’re right. Yeah, it is coloradotaxpayer.org. So let’s jump in here to this first one, which got out of committee yesterday, I would say, unfortunately, and that is Senate Bill 003, which is the firearms, the magazine bill. And so that’s really an assault upon our Second Amendment rights, Wendy. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, this is part of a repeated effort of the current legislature and the media past ones to chip away at our Second Amendment rights. And every single legislative session, they come up with something more. This one’s pretty big. It prohibits the manufacture, distribution, sale, and purchase of specified automatic firearms. And it literally prevents Coloradans from their right that’s given in the Constitution of the United States to keep and bear firearms. It’s an assault on our constitutional rights. But this legislature keeps on putting more and more of these kinds of things into our law. Plus, they use the safety clause on it. And the safety clause means, oh, you the citizens are a little too dumb to know about this stuff yourself. We’re not going to allow you to create a petition to withdraw this law.
SPEAKER 17 :
It’s a real slap in the face. It is. And the safety clause was put in to Colorado’s constitution because if there was a real emergency and that the legislature needed to make sure that something – would go into effect immediately. That was why it was put there, but it is really used and abused. And on that weekly email that we send out to the legislature, the governor, and our members, we have an excellent synopsis at the bottom regarding the safety clause. And they are using and abusing it, as you said. So how about the next one, Wendy, and that’s Senate Bill 25. So how these are noted is it’s SB 25 or Senate Bill 25. So it’s in the Senate. It’s year 2025. And then the bill number is 045, the health care payment system analysis.
SPEAKER 09 :
And this is another one that is just a pattern that we see where the legislature authorizes taxpayer money to to promote a particular survey or piece of research that will then come back and propose exactly what they want. And they could say, oh, the research showed this. And in this case, it’s part of their effort to undo our medical care system and make it all government controlled. So this bill is to study a statewide universal health care payment system. In other words, a state run health care system. And again, they want to study this major change, and then they’ll come right back with a bill to propose to do that. They do this over and over again. And, you know, past experiments that states have done for state rent system have really failed. And all they’re doing is using our taxpayer money. to promote this socialistic scheme.
SPEAKER 17 :
And Wendy, what I’ve learned is typically when government gets involved in a program, the price goes up, the quality goes down, and the supply becomes limited. And we’ve seen that with socialized medicine across the world. And but it seems that they want to, as you mentioned, they have this analysis and then they’ll come back with the legislation on this. The prime sponsors on this is Senator Sonia Waukesha Lewis, Senator Janet Marchman, Representative Karen McCormick and Representative Andrew Bosenecker. So we do want to name those people that are pushing that forward. So, Wendy, our third one, and this is a good one, right?
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. There are good pieces of legislation. Usually they get shelved lately, but this one’s a good one. We’re looking at a House Bill 1069, and this is one that Stephanie Luck has proposed, and it’s to publish early, before the legislature starts, legislation that’s being proposed or thought of so that We, the citizens, can go in there and comment on them. We can contact people in advance before they even introduce the legislation to give our opinion and say, gee, could you tweak this? Think of all the legislation that affects small business. If they could see it ahead of time coming and could comment on it and maybe change it a bit so it doesn’t impact them so much, it would be great. This idea of publishing this, putting it online so that everybody could see legislation before it actually is introduced is great for transparency and giving the public a chance to react.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, because this last week there were 77 bills that were scheduled for hearing. And actually, I made a comment apparently, and I appreciated the call from Representative Dan Woog yesterday. He said that maybe months and months ago I had said something along the line, and I’m not exactly sure what it was, but that our legislators are passing legislation without actually reading it. And there are those legislators out there that really are working to get their brains around what all of this means. But with this 77 bills that were scheduled for hearing for this last week, it is very difficult for legislators to read all those bills and know exactly what is being proposed and what they’re voting on.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. If anybody reads those bills, I mean, any of us normal legislators, It’s page after page of legalese. It’s not easy, and it takes hours and hours. And that’s just to read it, but to really digest it or get other opinions takes quite a bit of time. It’s like they’re throwing so much mud against the wall trying to see what can stick. It’s a really scary way of approaching legislation. So I think this would be a great move.
SPEAKER 17 :
I think it would be. Again, that’s House Bill 25-1069, increased stakeholder participation by Stephanie Luck. And so there’s some really good pieces of legislation that have been proposed. There’s been legislation that’s been proposed to change or reverse, I would say, some of this bad legislation out there. And in fact, we’ll talk with… Representative Ryan Gonzalez in the last hour, he had a bill to to reverse this Hinn’s cage. Yes. And that didn’t make it out of committee. But I love the fact that we’ve got and it’s Republicans that are working to try to push government back into the proper role that it’s supposed to be. So, Wendy, first of all, you’re doing a great. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 09 :
I was just going to say, please read our synopsis and look for the patterns. We see many patterns like giving tax benefits to only one group versus everybody or making it more difficult for business. There were four bills that made it harder for small business. And those kinds of things we’ve got to pay attention to. There’s just patterns in this legislation.
SPEAKER 17 :

Good to have you. And lots happening in our world with the Trump administration. Now into office, Peter Berneger.
SPEAKER 07 :
It is just what a celebration for all the citizens of the United States of what Trump has been doing, what a real leader. And I want to share something with you. I have certain contacts and try to push certain things. And I know for a fact in the top five of his list to investigate, one of them is the Russian collusion hoax. However, on that list also is to expose the six swing states of them stealing the 2020 presidential election. And, of course, there’s other things. Many other elections they stole, too, from 2018 to 2022. Certain races, especially now on the November 5th race, a lot of the down ballot races like the four senators. And this is based on, you know, information and data. It’s not just speculation. And, of course, that explosive video that came out of Orange County. Colorado showing the election worker feeding the ballots through three times.
SPEAKER 17 :
So California, that was California, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Or was that Colorado? California. Okay. And imagine they have information that five congressmen in California had their races stolen. So imagine if we pick up five congressional seats and And it’s still a possibility because Congressman Comer said the other day that he’s he’s aware of it and they’re investigating. And but again, back on top on the list with Kash Patel, you know, the FBI director and the Pam Bondi is investigating the theft in particular of the six swing states. Now, this includes the voting machines. So I know Trump has said it multiple times. He has the goods. He has the information. And people like myself and others across the United States who have been working on this forever, we have the goods. And we’ve been supplying it to him and his team. And he’s coming. He’s serious. He’s going to come and prosecute. So this is going to expose it because it was all we could see over time. It was all interconnected here. This includes Jenna Griswold, so I’m getting back to Colorado, that they were all taking orders from somebody on a national scale, and I think it’s the National Security Council and probably some three-letter agencies I’ve named in my tweets. They’re coming for him. So that’s the fantastic news, and you can see that he’s deadly serious on what he’s done already, and it’s not even the end of January.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, it’s it’s remarkable. Well, talking about Colorado and the lawsuit that we were able to file because of, again, all of our listeners that stepped forward to fund this half of the lawsuit, you funded the other half. And of course, we used your Titan technology on this. This, I think, is good to have this lawsuit there. I think it as it looked as we talk about what Trump might be doing here regarding elections. Yes.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. And what what happened when we tried to first send a letter before the lawsuit was filed, we send a letter and General Griswold responds. And then it got handed off to Colorado’s real secretary of state, which is Christopher Beale. And then he tried to give what he did send us some nasty letters. which then the suit was filed, as promised. The suit is pending. And when you do get into this stage, frankly, it does get into a little bit of like watching paint dry. It’s kind of a ping pong ball going back and forth. And, you know, the attorneys arguing and filing motions back and forth. And now they have it went from Christopher Beal, though, to the lead attorney for Colorado on this case, Dan Bauman, B-A-U-M-A-N-N. So he’s the one now that we’re negotiating with, if you will, in addition to the lawsuit being filed to keep the pressure on. So I also could tell you and share with you this, is that President Trump and his team are specifically going to be going after the voter registration lists they know that’s the gateway to starting and carrying out the election fraud. So even though we have the lawsuit filed, it’s pending, I’m still hoping for the Calvary to come in and wipe all these voter lists in all 50 states and get them clean, get a proper system in place that’s maintained. And frankly, I always question, why do we even need voter rolls? on a statewide level. Why even have them? Because, for example, you know, we didn’t have them for hundreds of years, if you will, in the country. And then the state of North Dakota still doesn’t have a statewide voter list. They just have their local election clerk with the files in their office of the local voter rolls. So there is no electronic list. And that’s very attractive. So the bad guys can’t go in there and start changing the list or submitting registrations across the state to get phony registrations in there.
SPEAKER 17 :
So, Peter, how does that work regarding the Constitution? If Trump comes in and cleans voter lists across all 50 states, each state does have a they’re supposed to really be conducting their elections. So how how can that happen from a constitutional standpoint?
SPEAKER 07 :
Easy. He could cut off their funding. So it’s just like when they do road building or other projects for schools, he could cut off their funding and he can cut off federal funding for anything. So if they say you either clean up your rolls and do it this way or your funding for whatever for your schools is cut off, for example.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, and clearly after just a little over a week in office, he certainly would definitely use that tool in his toolbox, Peter Berninger.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, without a doubt. I mean, he already is. And another exciting thing is that yesterday he signed an executive order to stop funding all grants and loans from the federal government. Now, unfortunately… After that, they had a merging some nonprofit filed in the District Court of Washington, D.C., and they halted his executive order. However, you know, President Trump, he’s going to find a way. And what he what he did is pause all government grants and loans. to NGOs or nonprofits. And that’s exactly where the, uh, Biden administration went to. So I called it, I put it in my tweet yesterday at Peter Berger on Twitter racks, uh, that is the fifth branch of government. And, and we identified now all of them, 55,000 liberal, uh, NGOs across the nation. And most of them are being funded by the federal government, and that’s where all these liberals go and place themselves, get these big paychecks, and they’re just biding time, and they’re doing dirty work that the government can’t or won’t do. And so then if they do it in a nonprofit, then they’re hidden from Freedom of Information Act public records requests. So that’s what’s happening. Like the Department of Homeland Security, in fact, created its own – nonprofit called CIS, Center for Internet Security. They’re the ones funded by the federal government, but they’re not officially the government. And they’re the ones sticking their fingers into our elections.
SPEAKER 17 :
So and the other thing is, is on these NGOs and in the government grants. Yes, that’s been a huge funder. But also we saw, for example, Mark Zuckerberg in the 2020 election gave over 400 million dollars to the Center for Tech and Civic Life, which was a nonprofit. So connect the dots. He got a tax tax write off for that. So it’s it’s very. very incestuous on the left on how they’ve been able to make these NGOs work for their agenda.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, and all these nonprofits, they’ve turned so many of them, they’ve been taken over by liberals over the years or decades. And the Catholic Charities is a prime example. And I’ll disclose, I’m Catholic, and I can’t stand the Catholic Charities because they’re corrupt. It’s like the Red Cross. I mean, it’s stunning when you read about the Red Cross, Catholic Charities, There’s a certain sect of the Lutherans. There’s a Jewish family. I think I can’t remember a foundation or fund it’s called. And these are the ones who are getting these multimillion dollars from the federal government, again, to literally bring traffic human beings, including children, into our country. And it’s sickening, but that’s where the evil is taken over. using our tax dollars to ruin our country, to steal our country from us. So he announced and signed yesterday, President Trump, he did ban all money going to the Catholic Charities, and I know he’s going to do some more. Now, that was an individual executive order, and he stated he’s going to be taking away their 501c3 status, which is phenomenal. It’ll shut them down because it just turned into such a corrupt organization. You know, the name, the hiding behind the name.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, and somebody sent me over some information. Apparently the four bishops in Colorado issued a statement regarding the immigrant, which is certainly we care about immigrants, refugees. But what’s happened, Peter, is the thing, the good things about America that we care about others are The radical activist left has taken that, and they’ve used it against us. And then, to your point, Catholic Charities, I have a friend who’s Catholic, and she said, you know, she’s so conflicted about this because she cares about immigrants, but yet we’re realizing it’s been, and this is my comments, we’re realizing that that care is being used to invade our country. And I was… friends this weekend, and they had a new documentary regarding the trafficking of children into America under this guise of immigration. And it’s unconscionable what is happening with that, Peter Berneger.
SPEAKER 07 :
But there’s a solution, a very easy solution for your friend and others who want to help people and be a good Christian, is that you help them in their own country. Look, there’s close to 8 billion people in the world. You can’t have 8 billion people come to the United States. It’s not possible. So what you do is you keep them in their countries. And even the better news is if you privately give money or the federal government does give them money to help the poor, really help the poor, not skim it off, is that the money goes, you than if people move to the United States. So help them in their own countries to develop. That’s the solution to this illegal immigration and also still being compassionate to help people to get up a leg in their life. But they’ve got to stay in their countries unless they come through the allowed legal process. system of immigration in the United States. That would be determined by the government at the time. That’s the way to do it. Keep them in their countries and help them down there. That’s the way.

I was told by a person high up in the Trump team who’s an attorney now in the United States Attorney General’s office that 50 percent, of the Democrats in the U.S. Congress stole their elections. 50% of the congressmen of Democrats in the U.S. Congress have stolen their election. That’s how bad and prevalent election fraud really is. President Trump knows, and I am promising from the word I have, is that Trump is coming and he’s going to hammer these people and prosecute at least the top players are the ones who stole the election in particular in the 2020 election.
SPEAKER 17 :
What does that mean for Colorado?
SPEAKER 07 :
Because if people look at Colorado, I think it means that they’re going to expose your, uh, the extremely dirty voter list and, and fix it. And they’re going to get rid of the machines and the dominion machines. I believe, uh, ES and S and dominion and heart civic are going to be, uh, bankrupt, and they’re going to eliminate absentee mail-in ballots. They’re going to have same-day in-person voting, even having a federal holiday every four years for it. And that’s the big thing, voter ID on a national scale. And again, that comes back to Trump would enforce that by cutting off any federal funding to a state if they don’t do it. So those are the ones those are the changes that they’re looking at making.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, those are very significant and that certainly would affect Colorado significantly. So what the those that have pushed forward this voter fraud, what what do you think they’re how are they going to respond? What’s what’s the fight on that?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I think – you mean the people who committed the election fraud?
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah. What are they going to do?
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, they’re going to be prosecuted by Kash Patel and Pam Bondi. Trump has made that very clear, not only in private but publicly. He’s coming after them. One is you could see it from his tweets, and then second, again, from my sources, that that’s part of it, that he’s not going to let them get away with it, which led to all this – You know, it led to the assassination attempts. It led to him being prosecuted or persecuted by these bogus, unlawful lawsuits against him or the criminal ones. You know, Fannie Willis and Letitia James in New York and Alvin Bragg in New York. You know, those are all unlawful criminal prosecutions against him. And that’s why he’s so mad and focused, because, you know, obviously it happened to him personally. And it really was a slap in the face to all of us.
SPEAKER 17 :
So next question, if I remember right, some of those congressional seats in California, they voted or they were counting votes on that for several weeks. Yes. And ultimately, the Democrat was noted as the winner.
SPEAKER 07 :
And five of them were all tied to Orange County, and there was a fake bomb threat. And once you know it, everybody, the election officials, all the observers, get this, all the observers were kicked out because of the fake bomb threat. And then all the election workers moved to a different location. And that’s when they caught the video of this lady feeding the ballots through three times. It’s on joehoff.com. You can view the video for yourself. And that affected multiple races, and then they have other information in addition to that. But there’s also Senator Sam Brown, a candidate, the U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde here in Wisconsin, who, you know, they got their races stolen from them. In Wisconsin, just a side note, for the U.S. Senate race, Eric Hovde versus Tammy Baldwin, they stole the downed ballots by utilizing same-day voter registration. And we went to a ward, Ward No. 42 in the city of Milwaukee, at 2.30 in the afternoon on November 5th, to give you a real example. At that point in time, we asked the chief inspector how many people cast a ballot, and she said about 600. And that’s on Election Day, of course. And then we asked, because we saw all kinds of people with paperwork in their hands, why would you be standing in the vote with paperwork? 500 out of the 600 were registered as same-day registration to vote. Now, Wisconsin has that, unfortunately. It’s legal to do it, unfortunately. But out of one ward in the city of Milwaukee, I would expect maybe 10 to 15. would be a normal for that size of the ward. There were 500 same-day registrations. That was a key part of how they stole the U.S. Senate race from Eric Hovde.
SPEAKER 17 :
So two minutes left, Peter Berneger. With this down ballot manipulation, how is it that President Trump won? Now, Joe Biden received 81 million, purportedly, 81 million votes in 2020, and Kamala Harris received 76 million. One has to ask, where did those 6 million votes go? But how did Trump win?
SPEAKER 07 :
He won because patriots like us and others, we had – some were paid, private license investigators. We had 17 people at the Milwaukee Central Count, which is the largest location of volume of ballots in our state. We also had three people embedded up at the Green Bay Central Count and others in Wayne County, Michigan, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Fulton County, Georgia. We have photos, we have videos, and many of them have been published on the Internet, where we stopped them from bringing it in. Somebody got nervous, and the ballots were there. In Wayne County, you see the women carrying, they happened to be two black women, they were carrying boxes of ballots to go into the counting center late at night. They were stopped. The white trucks in Pennsylvania were stopped. the ballots down in Milwaukee were stopped from coming in. Give me an example. In 2020, Milwaukee had 170,000 absentee ballots. In November 5th, it was 108,000. So it dropped dramatically by 60,000 ballots. And how can that be? How could it drop from 60,000 ballots at one location from 2020 to 2024. We stopped them. We stopped them from bringing in the 60,000 fraudulent ballots.

And I would say that with all of these things that the Trump administration is doing, they certainly have have an aperture into reclaiming our country. And we have to do our part as well, though. We cannot just rely on. The Trump administration, we as individuals at the local, the county, the state level need to be engaged to reclaim our country and our state. And so he’s doing his part. We have to do our part as well. Our quote for the day is from George Whitefield. He was born in 1714. He died in 1770. He was an English Anglican minister and preacher who was one of the founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement. And he said this, he said, press forward. Do not stop. Do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. Great words. I think he was very influential in the Enlightenment as well, if I remember right. I have so much history that I need to learn. There’s so much out there. And speaking of that, just three things this day in history, in case you missed it in the first hour. 1594, mathematician John Napier dedicates his plain discovery of the whole revelation of St. John to King James VI. Sixth, predicts the end of the world by 1688 or 1700. I guess he was wrong on that. 1892, the Coca-Cola companies are incorporated in Atlanta. And 2021, again, super important. The proposal to prevent the feminization of male adolescents was published by China’s education ministry asking schools to use sports. to cultivate masculinity. Meanwhile, back at the ranch here in America with the Biden-Harris administration, they’re telling boys that they can be girls and that they can be in girls’ locker rooms and that they can compete in girls’ sports. You can see that China has a totally different agenda than what the Biden-Harris administration had. That’s why it is super amazing that Trump has signed this sweeping order regarding this whole transgender agenda and says that that is not going to continue to occur here in America. So that is a really important executive order. Another thing is that Google Maps are renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America here in all of, I guess, the American maps. They may still call it the Gulf of Mexico and some of the international maps, but they are changing that there. And another headline, this is from Bloomberg, the U.S. halts all defense contract signings. And so they want to get a handle on that. I think also get a handle on where DEI, diversity, equity and inclusion, has been pushed in the military. And yesterday was Caroline Levitt’s initial White House briefing. She’s young. She’s 27. She’s a new mom. And she is really impressive. And they’re changing some of the things regarding the White House press corps as well, that they’re going to have some independent podcasters and broadcasters that will be Part of the press corps and my friend, my friend Yvonne said, Kim, you need to apply for that. So I got to figure out how to do that for sure as well. Yesterday, let’s just some of these bills of the day. And I thank Wendy Warner for being on. She is the secretary of the all volunteer group, Colorado Union of Taxpayers. The Senate Bill 25003 passed out a committee. Apparently it was a 3-2 vote right down party line lines. The party line votes, and it’s the semi-automatic firearms and rapid-fire devices bill. It’s totally unconstitutional, and the prime sponsors on this are Senator Tom Sullivan, Senator Julie Gonzalez, Representative Andrew Boesenecker, and Representative Meg Froelich. And this basically is an assault upon our Second Amendment rights on the right to keep and bear firearms. And we continue to see this agenda, as Wendy said in the first hour, we continue to see this agenda. Every legislative session, there’s something that comes back. They just don’t give up. The radical activists just don’t give up. And this is our commentary on our recommendation on a no position from the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. It says Colorado is becoming more dangerous because of bad actors who do not follow the law. They use illegal firearms, and they have ill intent. This bill is an attempt to prevent everyday Coloradans from our right to keep and bear firearms, to protect ourselves and our families against law-breaking bad actors. This proposed legislation is an assault on our U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, and then very inappropriate use of the safety clause. And let’s go ahead and give a shout out to Stephanie Luck, Representative Stephanie Luck, for her House Bill 25-1069 to increase stakeholder participation concerning, in the lawmaking process, have early publishing of bills so that we, the people, can see what is happening regarding all of this legislation. It’s good to have you as well. Now, I grew up in western Kansas, Kevin, and a long line of farmers. And I’ve always just had a great affinity for that green paint and for John Deere. And this is of some concern. Set this up for us. What is going on?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, your grandfather’s company is a tractor company. It’s evolved into what they call themselves now a software company. So you’re basically dealing with big tech headed 1,000 miles an hour towards artificial intelligence and robotic farming. So that’s the scenario that we find ourselves in right now.
SPEAKER 17 :
Is that a good thing or is that a bad thing?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well… I think it’s a probable thing and the history will judge all this. And of course, you know, it’s, it’s a natural progress here. They call it innovation. I guess the question I have and the concerns I have is, you know, the robots are coming and who’s going to own them and who’s going to control them. You know, and there’s a thousand different things that can play into that scenario. And that’s why, you know, we started working with the right to repair. You credited me with writing the right to repair bill, but actually I had, 99% of the literature was written by Gay Gordon Byrne, who I called out of the blue to ask for help. She’s on the phone with me. And so this has been a 10-year battle, and we’ve lost at about every turn on the state level except Colorado. And I can’t say we’ve actually got a complete win in Colorado, but it is what it is.

Okay, I do remember that piece of legislation coming through because one of the other things that I do as a volunteer gig is president of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And I do remember that piece of legislation coming through and trying to understand what it was exactly. So Gay Gordon Byrne, welcome to the show. And Kevin said that you’ve been very involved in writing this right to repair legislation. So tell us about that and tell us about Colorado.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, happy to do so, and thanks for having me, Kim. Yeah, way back when Kevin called me, and he really did call me out of the blue and said, we need right to repair for agricultural equipment in Nebraska. And I said, cool. And the reason I said that is that I copied, you know, the original right to repair law that was passed in Massachusetts for automobiles. And I took out the word automobile and inserted the word digital electronic product. And because we didn’t want to be pinned down to just cell phones and computers, we said, hey, anything with a chip in it is already or will become hard to repair without dealing with the dealership or the manufacturer. And that turned out to be totally true. And so the bill really is the bill that was passed in Colorado. It’s actually three sections. It’s very comprehensive. And as Kevin said, it’s not a complete solution. And part of the reason is, is that deer is not in compliance. They have not offered to comply. They are not working on compliance. And the weak point really is that farmers, unfortunately, are the ones that are going to have to call the attorney general’s office and say, I have a problem. And that’s what terrifies farmers because they’re very reliant, beholden, stuck with the dealership technicians. And if they come forward and say – You know, I’m having a problem with John Deere. I think it’s a reasonable assumption that they would go to the bottom of the priority list for any repairs that they might need. So they are really quite terrified. And that’s unfortunately the group that needs to use their mouths, make some complaints and let the attorney general get pushing on Deere independently of the FTC action. And that’s probably going to take a long time.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay. And how is it that – yeah, it does. And it seems like if I remember right that there was both Republicans and Democrats that were sponsoring that right to repair bill in Colorado. And, again, I’m doing that from memory, Gay Gordon-Byrne.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yep, yep. That’s really common. Everybody needs to be able to fix their stuff regardless of the political party. And so it tends to be a really truly nonpartisan effort. Now, obviously, if the state is dominated by Democrats, it’ll look like a Democrat bill. If it’s dominated by Republicans, it’ll look like a Republican bill. But it’s really irrelevant.
SPEAKER 17 :
So, Kevin Kinney, how is all this relevant to the people living in the urban corridors regarding this John Deere not really allowing farmers to be able to repair their own equipment if they are capable of doing so?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, obviously… commodity prices have a translation to what ends up the grocery store shelf. Okay. And at the current state of affairs, John here basically has a kill switch for agriculture. Okay. And that, that would be not unlike the phone companies back in the mid eighties. I mean, there’s the ag monopolies that, um, you know, overcharged and the FTC broke them up. I, you know, I was a little bit young back then to give you all the details, but It is important. When rural economies do well in the Midwest, the big cities profit by that. It’s basically a total overall economic system that we live in, and we cannot have one single entity be this influential in agriculture and have it built over the fact that they did it with what I call illegal walks, which the FTC would call tying. I don’t want to get down in the weeds too far, but You know, we tried to get an MOU. The American Farm Bureau had the major ag equipment manufacturers sign on, and that stalled. And so now we’ve got the FTC lawsuit. And, you know, who knows where this is going to go. We’ve got a commissioner. There’s two commissions that have protested the FTC lawsuit out of three. So right now it’s three to two. And we really need people to call their state legislators and federal legislators to and keep the pressure on to get some kind of relief here. So that’s why I’m on the horn, and that’s why it’s relevant to the people in the big cities.
SPEAKER 17 :
Because ultimately it could affect our food supply or will affect our food supply. On the one side, the innovation of John Deere tractors, combines, it’s pretty impressive, but… But if they have a kill switch on that, and under the O’Biden-Harris administration, Deere was really focused on this whole DEI agenda, which divides us. I think it’s anti-human flourishing. And so how did this happen with the leadership at Deere and Company, Kevin Kinney?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, you know, a corporate entity has no conscience, okay? And so they’re going to take from the market what they’re allowed legally to take from the market. And then you could make the argument that there’s a law, then there’s a spirit of the law. And I’m not knocking anything in particular about Colorado’s right to repair bill, but it’s been in effect since January of 2024. So it’s been in effect for over 13 months now. And we still can’t buy necessary repair parts from John Deere dealerships in Colorado. So, you know, that’s kind of the issue that we’ve got here. We need to get together and have direction from the federal government on this FTC lawsuit. I mean, there’s absolutely nothing in the public domain from John Urgewitz dealers about being compliant with state law in Colorado. I can’t find any. And my interaction with a local dealer was a dead end. It was just like anywhere else in the country. They refused to sell anything. software driven parts that require payload files. And to not have that ability is not dealer level access. So, you know, we’re basically back where we were worse than where we’re at 10 years ago when we started all this.
SPEAKER 17 :
So another thing I think in some of the papers that you sent that, okay, this is FTC. This is the press release, I think. It says that this has driven up the equipment repair costs for farmers while also depriving farmers of the ability to make timely repairs on critical farming equipment. And that could be during planting or harvesting season, right, Kevin?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, see, that’s just it. You could compare the agricultural equipment systems to the over-the-road truck systems. The over-the-road truck systems have a similar cadence every week out of the year. I mean, you drive so many miles a week, you’re good. Farming is like the Army. It’s hurry up and wait, okay? So all the equipment wear and tear and all the repairs, the acute repairs that happen unexpectedly, happen within a very short period of time. I mean, you would be more likely to get an Amazon delivery truck to your back door than a John Deere technician during spring planting. And I guarantee all the farmers that are listening to this would probably agree with that overall. It’s getting worse as these dealerships consolidate. Nebraska basically has three major dealerships that I know of. They used to have well over 20, 25. And that wasn’t that long ago. So, you know, repair is even more complicated, and they build complicity into their repairs, at least that’s my opinion, to make it more exclusive on who gets to have the opportunity to do the repairs. It’s definitely not for lack of knowledge. There’s a lot of ex-employees and there’s a lot of current employees that would jump ship if they knew they could survive In the independent repair world, just like the vast majority of over-the-road truck companies or independent franchises, automobile repair, they don’t have these problems that ag repair has. And you can make an argument that ag repair and ag equipment systems are more crucial because they actually put food on your table, and that’s a basic need.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, it definitely is a basic need. And so, well, let’s go to break. I’m talking with Kevin Kinney and Gay Gordon Byrne regarding this right to repair for agricultural equipment. And it seems it sounds like John Deere really has a corner on that market today. And we always like competition. And so we’ll continue that discussion. We have this because of our great sponsors. And he wrote the first right to repair bill in Nebraska in 2015. And he is a clean diesel biofuel systems engineer and has a bunch of patents. And then also talking with Gay Gordon Byrne, who has written a lot of this right to repair legislation. So, Kevin Kinney, what is the ultimate goal with this particular suit with the FTC and the states and the Suing Deer Company?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, and I’m not an attorney, but FTC enforces the Sherman Antitrust Act. So this looks like an antitrust action. And, you know, to come to this, for the federal government to have to step up, they’re alleging that there’s multiple violations that have been brought forward by not only private parties with the Northern Illinois Court case that’s not part of the FTC directly. So this has been going on. The lawsuits, the class action lawsuits have been going on for a couple, three years now. And there’s been no relief with the MOU. They basically have ignored it, in my opinion, and by everybody else I’ve talked to. Gay would be a front row seat on how that happened and what’s happened since the MOU was signed. And I think she’ll probably agree with that. But, you know, when you get right down to it, you got to wonder like, well, Wayne Gretzky, they say he used to skate where the hockey puck was going to be, not where it was. And the big ticket item in precision agriculture is that this is the trade secret of the family farm and of the individual farm tracks themselves. Take, for example, Vizio. They build TVs. They sell half a billion dollars of TVs. But it’s reported on the Internet that their data cells have been $2 billion to $4 billion from taking consumers’ data. Now, I would say 99% of the consumers did not know or had no idea that their data is being harvested by the TV they’re watching. And the same thing goes into General Motors. They had OnStar data thefts. There was a $48 billion lawsuit against General Motors recently just over that same issue, which telematic system data is the core of what precision ag data is. And it’s all the equipment manufacturers and their logistic programs that they work with their member cooperatives. The exposure of trade secrets for farm operations is rampant, but it’s exclusive to just the people that handle the data in the cloud. And it’s subject to what the privacy agreements say, which basically says they’re going to take your data and ship it outside of the United States jurisdiction. That comment is enough right there to not only wave the red flag, but to shoot it up in the air with a missile. You can’t have this. And that data can be used against the farm operations. So hand-in-hand with Right to Repair, Nebraska stepped forward, and I think Governor Pillen, is in favor of the Agricultural Data Privacy Act. So Nebraska was the first one in agriculture, I believe, and Gay, you can straighten me out. I always like saying that, so just let me say it, please. Initiate a right to repair bill, right? Well, now we’re initiating the Agricultural Data Privacy Act, and who knows where this could go. But it’s like Reagan and Gorbachev. We can have Trust but verify. A bill that only trusts but has no verification or enforcement is a waste of everybody’s time on this side of the coin. And that’s what we have to be afraid of is having legislation that doesn’t have any teeth and does nothing at the end of the day to stop an ag monopoly from taking over agriculture.
SPEAKER 17 :
Wow. And Gay Gordon Byrne, the American farmer, the American rancher, has always been the epitome of individualistic freedom, that rugged spirit that really built America. And so am I gathering that all of this with deer is obviously the right to repair, but this data component is really important as well, correct, Gay? Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Totally, totally. The data that’s flowing off these modern devices tells deer, not necessarily the farmer, how many seeds you planted, how many gallons of fertilizer or other inputs, and then counts how many bushels of whatever it is you’re farming on the output side. They know everything. And they regard that data as theirs. It’s in their financial reporting. They say, this is the data that we own. They literally claim ownership of the data coming off the farm. And they use it to monetize. They sell a lot of data. They make a boatload of money selling data to the fertilizer manufacturers, the seed manufacturers, you can imagine. And then they also have this I call it an unholy relationship. Deere is a huge financer of farm equipment and a line of credit. So the farmer signs up to buy a piece of equipment, and he can also put his seed purchases and fertilizer purchases and anything else he wants on the line of credit. So the farmer winds up totally tied up in knots. And as you referenced with the The innovation and the self-reliance that is just totally in the DNA of farming, that goes out the window. You get to the point where, you know, something breaks down, it stops working. I think Kevin will tell me. I think it says it throws a code. And then no matter what you do, you’ve got to call the dealership. So it’s a very, very contorted system. It is breaking down. We’ve had legislation filed for right to repair for various products, including agriculture, in 49 out of 50 states. And it’s going to happen. I’m very confident about that.
SPEAKER 17 :
So ideally, Gay, what you want to get to is where there could be dependent businesses that could come and help repair this equipment. Because I can’t think that everyday farmers and ranchers are going to be experts on this pretty intricate technology. So the idea is to have competitors to come into the market. Is that right, Gay? Oh, totally.
SPEAKER 08 :
The bills that we’ve been filing are really just promoting competition. Because it used to be you could fix your own stuff, you could hire a local mechanic, or you could hire the dealership. And now there’s nothing in the middle, and you can’t fix your own stuff. So it’s, yeah, it’s all about competition. We should be able to fix – we bought this stuff. We should be able to fix it. As owners, we’re really kind of entitled to be able to control our property. So it has resonated very well as a property right, as a monopoly problem. It’s very – everybody is facing the same problem, whether or not it’s to get their cell phone fixed or their refrigerator fixed or their tractor fixed. We’re all being monopolized.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, Kevin Kinney. I have Lauren Fix on a regular basis, Car Coach Reports, and she had mentioned that there is supposed to be a kill switch, I think, beginning in the 2025 models of cars, that basically a computer could determine… That you’re distracted driving or you’re tired or you’re drunk or whatever and could turn on, do a kill switch on your car. And we’ve talked about the concerns with that. A computer can’t, no, in a computer, you can’t override a computer function. It’s inconceivable to me that this could happen, but what if for some reason they were hacked? I guess even that. Say what if John Deere was hacked and they turned a kill switch on on every tractor during planting or harvest season? Conceivably, because it’s so centralized, that could happen, yes? Yes.
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, I’d like to have somebody from corporate John Deere deny that they were hacked last fall. I’m not going to expand any more on that comment. But I can point to the fact that if you read the headlines a couple of years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine, the Russians were stealing Ukrainian tractors and they mysteriously all shut off at once. Now, think about that. Who did that? Well, obviously, the person in charge of the telematics system for the tractor, right? That was corporate John Deere that did that. you’d have to deduct that. They have the kill switch for agriculture. And, you know, it all goes back to the first hearing that Gay Gordon Byrne and Lewis Rossman, he was a repair guy. Now he’s got 2.5 million viewers on YouTube on repair discussions, a good friend of ours. He came all the way to Lincoln, Nebraska. We’re sitting in the front row listening to the manager of Landmark Implement, Mike Collins. And I’m going to quote him on LB 1072, February 2016. That’s almost 10 years ago. His quote is still relevant. These guys, this attitude has only gotten worse. He said, quote, unquote, times have changed. Our products have changed. And because of that, we need to control that product and control the repair or change of that product. It’s becoming important. So that’s their mentality and the echo chamber that these guys live in. They actually think they’re doing us a favor by controlling our equipment, and it can’t be anywhere further from the truth. So I get a little wound up on this, but, I mean, Gay talked to 100 farmers last week at San Antonio at the American Farm Bureau Convention. Gay, was there one farmer that was against right to repair? No. No. Nope.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, well, let’s button this up. Let’s go to you first, Gay, regarding kind of the final thought. And I will let you know, this came in on the text line. Well, a couple of things. Oh, gosh. Now, this is a question, but I’ve got to ask it. It says, John Deere and Bill Gates article. Bill Gates has also been purchasing a lot of farmland. for quite a few years. Gay, is there any connection that you have been concerned about with Deere and Bill Gates?
SPEAKER 08 :
Honestly not. We’re operating at kind of a national scale, even international, where all we’re trying to do is restore competition for the business of repair. And there’s a lot of inputs to that and a lot of associated, you know, follow-on things. And we’re not We’re not fighting, you know, who owns the land. We’ve stepped aside from that. So I can’t say anything about it. I’m not even read in on it.
SPEAKER 17 :
You can only do one. You got to focus on what you can do something about. And then also this came in from a listener. It says, I pray for the farmers and their families every day. I’ll include this in my prayers of what we’re speaking about today. And this is the kinds of things that Trump is trying to fight. So that’s from one of our listeners as well. That text line is 720-605-0647. So Gay, Gordon Byrne, your final thought. And then Kevin, I’ll go to you for your final thought.

I’ll go back to your first question, which is why should somebody in an urban environment care? And I’ll just reiterate, if you eat, you care. You might not realize how important it is, but farmers are operating on extremely thin margins. Pretty much everybody we spoke with at the convention said, I farmed like 6,000 acres, and I had these crops, and I lost money on all of them. So if farmers are losing money on the farm, they’re not going to farm very much. And the equipment is so expensive, I’d say that half the people we spoke to won’t buy new equipment, even though it greatly enhanced their productivity, because they can’t fix it. they can’t know when they head out in the field that the equipment’s going to stay working. And that kills the productivity on the farm, which turns into higher food costs. So, yeah, everybody should care.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay. Excellent point. And, Kevin Kinney, your final thought.
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, I want to give a shout-out to Trent Luce, who I’ve followed for years, a great spokesman for the family farm and the traditional values and Christian values that we all share. either want to have more of or appreciate all the time. Trent’s a wonderful person to work with, and he’s sick today. So Gay and I are just standing in trying to emulate his presence. But as far as I’m concerned, there has to be a way for John here to lose any ability to control a product once it leaves their doors. And the dealers can’t geofence their customers anymore. I mean, we need to just cut the umbilical cord. And we should have access directly to secure parts and whatever software-related items we need, just like the truck industry and the automobile industry. It’s that simple. They’re not going to change. They’re not going to change the way they do business. The attitude set, it’s got to get fixed. That’s basically my suggestion. But thank you, Kim.

And so he had this legislation to try to roll that back. So Representative Gonzalez, welcome to the show.

Hi there, Kim. Good morning. Can you hear me?
SPEAKER 17 :
I got you. And there’s a lot happening down at the Statehouse, but your bill, I thought, was so important. And you had a number of other sponsors on the bill. And it was heard in committee, was it yesterday?
SPEAKER 06 :
It was on Monday, actually, at 1.30 and the Agriculture Committee. Okay, what happened? So I gave my presentation, my case for the bill, why it’s important, why we needed to pass it, and obviously kind of highlighting the issues with mandating cage-free laws across the state, limiting consumer choice, impacting supply, hurting low-income people who are barely making ends meet. Affordability is something that I ran on. And obviously trying to prove the case that it’s not just bird flu. You saw it in the media. You saw these other people who were supportive of it in the past. They were basically saying it was just the bird flu, nothing else, nothing more. And we had a lot of people who were supportive of my bill. A lot of people testified. It actually took about over two hours of testifying from people on both for and against, but there was more that were for it than against it. Making the case, you know, how this law is impacting people’s lives, how they can barely afford eggs of all things. Eggs are an important part of people’s meals. Six grams of protein per egg. Restaurants are hurting. They’re feeling the pinch. Stores with supplies. Houses were barely able to afford the dozen eggs. So it’s just having a ripple effect now since the law fully implemented. at the beginning of this year. However, a lot of these people on the committee just continued to see that it was the bird flu and decided to kill my bill. It was eight to five.
SPEAKER 17 :
So, and that they’re blaming on the increase in egg prices on the culling of flocks because of bird flu. And again, Ryan, this is something we’ve talked about on a a few chickens in a flock that get the bird flu and they kill the whole flock. And I guess this is from the federal level, but that makes no sense to kill healthy birds, which would increase more and more natural immunity. They just have killed the whole flock. So the two things certainly probably both come together, but to totally blame it on the bird flu and those bad decisions, I think is not being totally upfront.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, it’s not. And again, it goes back to the whole issue of accountability. A lot of these elected officials don’t acknowledge the stuff that they, however well intentioned it was, um, don’t work. Right. And so they don’t want to admit that they made a mistake. And I think there’s that accountability where they just refuse to have that. And so they just downplay it. Right. And I think that’s an issue. That’s a problem. I was trying to highlight it from however well intentioned this law was meant to be. It had negative ramifications that we’re seeing today. And if you look at other states, which is what I said this in committee, states who have cage free versus the ones who do not, the prices are much higher. and those that have cage-free policies, because the bird flu is everywhere, right? It’s nationwide. And even the USDA said that while the bird flu has a contributing to the price increases, those states that have cage-free mandates were disproportionately impacted more. So their prices were higher compared to states who did not. But again, they just continue to see it as it was just the bird flu.
SPEAKER 17 :
Wow. And so that died in committee. But thank you for doing this. We need to be repealing bad laws. And so this is so great and so creative that you have done that. Representative Ryan Gonzalez, what else do you have happening down at the statehouse that you think people should be aware of?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, last night there was a hearing on Senate Bill 25003, which was the assault weapons ban. This is the third time that they’re bringing this bill, um, to the legislature after two failed attempts. There was hearings last night that went until 11 o’clock. I believe, unfortunately it did pass committee three to two. So now it goes to the Senate where I believe that that bill has 18 co-sponsors. So it’s very likely to get out of the Senate. I believe it’s very also likely to get out of the house. So people need to be aware that they’re infringing on the Second Amendment rights. As for me, I have a bill to repeal the Tencent bag fee. So that will be heard in committee in the coming weeks. It was assigned to Energy and Environment in the House. I am co-sponsoring it with Minority Leader Puglisi and Senator Byron Pelton. I also have a bill to review regulations, kind of sunset them, stripping these agencies from their rulemaking authority, and it gives it back to the legislature. It was assigned to the State Civic and Military Affairs Committee, also known as the Kill Committee, so we’ll see how that goes. Regulations is huge, so this bill is kind of a step in the right direction to review, get rid of excessive regulation, redundant regulation, sunsetting these, and just trying to make it more affordable when it comes to business, energy, food, all that stuff.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, and then also, Representative Gonzalez, you are really a protector of Tabor, Colorado’s taxpayers’ bill of rights as well.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, I am. Tabor is the hill I am willing to die on. It is my non-negotiable. A lot of these progressives hate it. In fact, in finance committee the other day, it was on Monday, we were talking about tax credit bills. And the majority on the committee said, attacked Tabor, saying that we had an outdated, antiquated system that is not fair, a 30-year-old tax system that has proven to fail, lacks of funding for that reason. So with the budget deficit, this is more ammunition that the progressives want to use to try to eliminate Tabor and blame Tabor. However, in committee, I spoke out and said, if you’re just tired of having to ask taxpayers for more of their money, just say so. You know, they like to say, well, people only like Tabor because of the refund checks, and that’s not entirely true. People like Tabor because it limits government spending, and it also gives the voters the chance to approve tax increases, which is the very reason why these progressives and the majority hate Tabor. And if people need to understand, these people need to understand something is that I would say over 60% of Coloradans approve of Tabor. That number could be much higher, but not everybody knows about TABOR. And mind you, this is a law we’ve had for 30 years. It’s a right that the taxpayers have. And it’s something that we have an opportunity to share with Colorado about how great TABOR is because it’s the only one of its kind in the entire country. And that’s something we have to highlight because it’s all we have right now in Colorado that works in our favor.
