SPEAKER 15 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 13 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush. My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 08 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 13 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 11 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 14 :
Actually, it’s Andy Pate. Party of choice. And I’m your host. This is our number two. I’m Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole. Man. And on the line right now, we got Richard Rush. We’re going to be talking some NFL games coming up this week. Richard, how you doing?
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, Andy, I was better last week. It’s very disappointing when your team loses. As you know.
SPEAKER 14 :
You won 11 straight. My team’s done for the year, dude. You guys are still the guys to beat.
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, well, it’s nice. It’s good to lose before the playoffs. I know people don’t say that’s true. No, it is. I think it is. Sometimes you need a reset, Andy, right? It’s like people on the show. When my dad’s gone, they need a reset to remember what they have or to remember what could be with Andy.
SPEAKER 14 :
So I am here so people will miss John more. You will go with that. We’ll go with that. I like that. I’m cool with it. I miss John. Okay. Are you ready for some football?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, yes, Andy. It’s another great week. We’ve got three early games this week.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. Is Josh there or is it just you?
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, just me today. He’s getting ready for Christmas lights.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. You know, Richard, I want to ask you something. Do you get excited about Christmas?
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, I love Christmas. I actually love to build up to Christmas. I think more than Christmas Day. Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, you know, Richard, I don’t want you to ever think that I never gave you anything for Christmas because I’m giving you three games. Are you excited? Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, I’m ready to roll. I don’t have to watch that god-awful NBA product.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, gosh, no kidding. All right, let’s jump in here. Here we go. The Dallas Cowboys are 6-8. They’re on the road at the Washington Commanders, who are 4-11. Dallas is favored by 6.5. Does anybody care about this game? Will anybody watch it, and who will win?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, yes. Well, first, Andy, you’re giving me gifts, but the NFL certainly didn’t give me gifts this year because they play for a team like the Cowboys, who’s usually a ratings monster, to still be in it. And then, obviously, Jaden Daniels. who are just being a real competitive game, and they just obviously aren’t going to get that. So to answer who’s going to watch better friends and family for the Commanders in Dallas, it’s just the Cowboys fans because they’ve got nothing else to do on Christmas Day. But they will probably tune in to this one. And that’s about it, Andy. As Josh said last week, Washington’s a bad team. Their defense isn’t very good. Their offense doesn’t look much better. That’s what’s helping.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, we’re losing you, Richard. Are you there? We’re losing you.
SPEAKER 15 :
Are you there now? Can you hear me now?
SPEAKER 14 :
Now we can hear you. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 15 :
I was hoping the Cowboys would do us a favor and beat the division rival Chargers. They didn’t pull it out. They will win this week, Andy. The Cowboys are just too good offensively, and the guys don’t seem to care.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree. The Washington defense couldn’t stop an old lady and a walker. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is. Tanner, who’s going to win this game?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, Jaden Daniels just means the Cowboys should win. They looked not so great against my Chargers, but Cowboys will win. They’re always going to get big games, even though they’re terrible.
SPEAKER 14 :
Should be a romp. Next game, the Lions. Boy, they’re fading fast, but they’ve had a hard year. They’re on the road at another team that’s had a hard year. The Minnesota Vikings got a divisional tilt here. The Lions are favored by six. Who do you got, Richard?
SPEAKER 15 :
Vikings have got nothing to play for. And the Lions do. They have everything to play for because they are fighting for their lives, I think, with your Packers, right, if I’m not mistaken?
SPEAKER 14 :
I guess so. Look, my Packers, by the way, Jordan loves to go on now. We are now missing like six of our top seven players, I think it is, or something like that. Something ludicrous. So I’ve written Green Bay off. I mean, you can only lose so many players. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 15 :
So many players. Granted, Malik Willis played really well in relief, but I’m with you. And again, the Lions have everything to play for. They should have won against the Steelers. That’s a different conversation. Give me the Lions, Andy. The game shouldn’t be close. I know it’s a divisional game, but it shouldn’t be close.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. How about the Lions, man? You got first and goal at the one and you get two straight penalties. Now it’s first and goal at the 16. You are just flat out stupid. It’s not your year.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Tanner, go ahead.
SPEAKER 15 :
Not your year.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. Tanner, he’s got the Lions. Who do you got?
SPEAKER 06 :
I got the Lions as well. I mean, the Vikings did beat them earlier this year, but I mean, the Lions are in win now. I mean, seven losses. I don’t think anyone saw that with this Lions team. And their defense can’t stay healthy.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, I’m going to tell you what. I’m going to go with the Lions too, but I’ve got to be honest. I’m not confident. I think they’re in free fall and the Vikings are at home, so you never know. Okay, next game. All right, we’ve got the blowout of the day. Obviously, the Broncos, who are going to be smarting and angry, are going to come out full of fire against the woeful Kansas City Chiefs. Denver is favored by 12 and a half. The Chiefs right now don’t have their quarterback. They can’t throw. They can’t run. They can’t stop the throw. They can’t stop the run. There is literally nothing good about the Kansas City Chiefs. What’s going to happen, Richard?
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, I was going to say, I mean, who would have thought you would have said those words at the start of the season? I mean, I think the NFL was hoping… The Broncos would be where they are, I think, in the best case scenario. And obviously, they were hoping the Chiefs would just maintain. And this was going to be a great Christmas night showdown after everyone’s had prime rib and presents and everything else. And they’re able to sit back and watch a great game. And I hope this game is as boring and as awful as anticipated in that I just hope the Broncos win. come out, wipe the floor with them, and then we are on to Tanner’s beloved Chargers next week with 10 full days of rest. So I can’t, Andy, I know I was picking the Chiefs earlier in the season. Maybe I did that too much. I don’t know. I can’t in good conscience pick them here. And if the Broncos don’t win this game decisively, decisively, decisively, then they don’t deserve to do anything in the playoffs. So to me, this is as much of a statement game as anything else. So I’ll take my Broncos. I lie.
SPEAKER 14 :
If the Broncos win by less than 14, then in my opinion, they need to start worrying about the playoffs and whether they can. Look, I still think they’re the team to beat, but it’s going to be tougher for them to go all the way through the playoffs if they can’t pound the living life out of this Chiefs team. Go ahead, Tanner.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, not only is Patrick Mahomes not playing, but Gardner Minshew is apparently out for the year or two, so they have some random guy playing quarterback.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, they called me, but I was busy. I was doing the show.
SPEAKER 06 :
Like you said, if they don’t win by 14, it’s not going to look great. Granted, the NFC is a lot better than the AFC at this point, but yeah, I mean, Broncos Patriots seem to be the two teams to be in the AFC, so this is a big game. I mean, if they somehow lose, and then that Chargers game becomes even more important.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, I tell you what, Santa put some lumps of coal in people’s stockings for this Christmas because those are three lousy games. Let’s see if they get any better here. Okay, on Sunday, Richard, we got the Cardinals, who are 3-12, going at the Bengals, 5-10. Bengals favored by 7. Could this actually be an entertaining game?
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s going to only be entertaining, Andy, because I think Joe Burrow is out to prove what can be when he has a healthy team and when he himself – is healthy. Outside of that, the Cardinals are a They are just a stricken franchise with whatever you want to call it. Black magic, injuries, whatever it is, that poor team. So, yeah, the Bengals should win by a lot, Andy, and I think Burrow is out to prove and sort of show, hey, if I’m healthy, this is what it can be. But we’ll see. I think that’ll be the case. So, Andy, I actually think it may be entertaining because there should be a lot of points scored, at least on one side. Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Tanner, does Joe Burrow lay a whoopin’?
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, they just dropped it over 40 this last week on the Dolphins. It’s not like the Dolphins are anything good, but they’ve been showing at least some fight recently. They won like four out of five games or something like that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, but the Dolphins, you didn’t know this, they have two teams. They have a Dolphins team and they have one called the Cardinals. They’re exactly the same.
SPEAKER 06 :
The Cardinals are a, I mean, Jacoby Brissett has, for a backup, has had a decent year coming in. But I still think the Bengals minus seven is probably what’s going to happen.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, I agree. Okay, next game, the Steelers. Hey, Aaron Rodgers. He’s 172 years old, and he can still throw the football. I love it. I’m rooting for him. He is favored by four and a half at the Browns, who, let’s face it, early on they had a good defense, Richard, but they have packed it in.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, Andy, it’s harder and harder to play defense, especially the worse and worse your offense is. Granted, I actually think Shador has shown something to where if I’m the Browns, I give him a go next year. Again, I still try to move on from Watson. I know they say they’re not, but I think you at least try. You’ll give him a full offseason, and maybe you get some receivers who don’t drop balls right in the middle of their chest for interceptions. But with that being said, Andy, Steelers have a chance to close out the division if they win this game. Mike Tomlin wants that. Then they can actually rest players because I don’t think they can go any higher than the four seed. So I think the Steelers close it out. But it is a close game. It’s still a divisional game. But I think the Steelers end up covering.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, last question really quick here. If the Browns get the top pick, do you still go with Shador or do you take the best QB?
SPEAKER 15 :
I’m not sold on Mendoza, Andy. And so, to me, you go with Shador just because I think that the Browns can use talent elsewhere or, in other words, probably trade it.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 15 :
Looking for that quarterback and you can get a lot more graphics.
SPEAKER 14 :
Sounds good. Tanner, who wins this week?
SPEAKER 06 :
I have the Steelers, but DK just got suspended for two games, so that will be a little interesting. He’s their only wide receiver, realistically. Of note. Right. Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson don’t do much, but I think the Steelers’ two running backs will be good enough, and Rodgers will do Rodgers’ things. The Browns, I mean… Like Richard said, I mean, I watched some of that Bills-Browns game. Some of the passes Shador was throwing, one of those, a guy pops it up in the air, Milano’s just sitting there or someone else. I mean, it’s just, it’s hard to watch the Browns, but I’ll be watching just because of Myles Garrett and hoping he gets the sack record.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, I’ll take the Steelers as well. And gentlemen, we’re going to take a quick break, come back, and we’re going to go rapid fire through the rest of the schedule. Up next is Paul Leuenberger. SPEAKER 14 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLC 560. On the line right now, we got Richard Rush. Richard, here we go. We got two teams that are red hot. The New Orleans Saints are at the Tennessee Titans, both riding one game winning streaks. These juggernauts face New Orleans favored by two and a half. Who you got?
SPEAKER 15 :
Juggernaut, exactly. I like the Saints here. I think they’ve got a little bit of mojo going. They’re kind of figuring out. Titans got lucky against the Chiefs. Or not lucky, but fortunate. So I’ll go with the Saints.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, Tanner, go.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m going to take the Saints as well just because of Kellen Moore.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’ll take the Saints. Next game, the Jaguars coming off their upset win at Denver are now on the road at the Colts. Colts are falling apart. Jacksonville favored by seven. Go, Richard.
SPEAKER 15 :
Old man rivers here, Andy. Yeah, Jags look like they’re on a mission. We’ll see if they complete it and get it done. They’ve got a couple rough, or tough, well, not any tough games to finish off the season. So, yeah, Jags buy a lot.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, Tanner. I agree. Somehow the Jags get it done.
SPEAKER 14 :
I take the Jags easy. Next game, Buccaneers are also falling apart. They’re at the Dolphins, who are also falling apart. Who falls apart more in this game? Tampa Bay favored by five and a half. Richard.
SPEAKER 15 :
Dolphins fall apart more, Andy, although I think they’ll keep McDaniel next year. But I think the Buccaneers set up a showdown for the division title next week against the Panthers.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right, Tanner, go.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I can’t believe the Bucs have fallen off like this. I’m taking them as well. No two, they’re not going to win.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree. I’ll take the Bucs next game. The Patriots are playing pretty good football. They are on the road at the Jets. Patriots favored by two touchdowns. Richard, what do you say?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, Pats are good here. Broncos can’t misstep anymore, or the Pats are going to get that one seed. But yeah, Pats by a million.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, there you go, Tanner. Agreed. I agree. Pats by a million. Next game. Interesting game. The Seahawks are on the road at the Panthers, who are surging. But Seahawks are also right now the number one team in the NFC. They are favored by 7.5. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, and I like the Seahawks. I think they got a little bit lucky last week. I actually like the Panthers. I just think that this is a little bit too much for the Panthers right now. I think they will be an exciting playoff team, but I’ll go with the Seahawks here. I just think they’re too good.
SPEAKER 14 :
Tanner.
SPEAKER 15 :
Agreed.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree, and the Panthers are a year away from being able to play a team like the Seahawks. Next game, the Giants. Oh, this is great. The Giants are at the Raiders. Raiders favored by one and a half points. Who gets the number one pick in the draft? Richard.
SPEAKER 15 :
Spoiler Bowl, Andy, it will be the Raiders because they want it more. They hate. Jackson Dart will come out and throw darts, as Joshua would say, and they don’t want that number one pick.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, Tanner, go.
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. I think the Giants are just better. They’re always in the games. Raiders are hardly ever in the game.
SPEAKER 14 :
You know what? I’m going to pick the upset. I’m going to take the Raiders because they do every stupid thing. And losing the number one pick is just a Raiders type thing to do. Okay, next game. Another stupid team, the Eagles. Oh, good game. They’re on the road at the Bills. Bills favored by two and a half. I’m not that impressed by either team. It’s a playoff team. But Richard, who wins this week?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, not impressed by either, Andy. I’m going to go with the Bills because they are at home. And I think they need a little bit of confidence in them. They need to beat an Eagles team. And honestly, I don’t think the Eagles… They have a little bit of seeding to play for, Andy. Not a lot, though, so I’m going to go with the Bills at home.
SPEAKER 14 :
And Tanner, what do you say?
SPEAKER 06 :
The Bills definitely have more to lose just because of the race in the AFC East, but I’m going to go with the Eagles just because they’re more talented on both sides.
SPEAKER 14 :
They are more talented. I don’t like either team. I’ll take the home team. I’ll take the Bills. I don’t like either team. Next game, the Bears are flying high. They are at the 49ers. Good game. Niners actually favored by three. What do you say, Richard? Yeah, best game of the week here, Andy.
SPEAKER 15 :
Bears, I think they’re doing well. They’re ahead of schedule two. Niners are hurt, but Kyle Shanahan has them playing. This is a coin flip to me, Andy. I’m going to go with the Niners just because I like McCaffrey and the other things. So I’ll go Niners at home. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m taking the Niners as well at home, even though they have some injuries. They’re just maybe the best coach team other than the Rams, so I’m going to take them.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, they are really well coached. By the way, so are the Bears, but I’m going to take the Niners at home because they’re at home. Last game, the Rams are just going gangbusters. They’re 11-4. They are favored by 7.5 at the Atlanta Falcons, who picked up a win last week. Richard, what do you say?
SPEAKER 15 :
Andy, the Rams are going to help themselves out in multiple areas. They’re going to be hopefully pushing to get back that one seed and to get back the NFC West. I don’t think they get it. And also help their draft position since they have the Falcons first pick. So, yeah, I’m going to go with the Rams here on the road. Andy, they need some confidence at the end of the playoffs and that they get it.
SPEAKER 14 :
How often do teams want to win to improve their draft position? I like that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Last three weeks of the season, for years now, people have been saying they’ve been rigging it just for Draft picks. I think the Rams are going to win by at least seven and a half. I think the Rams are the best team in the league, especially if Devontae’s playing. They almost beat the Seahawks without Devontae, and they should have won that game.
SPEAKER 14 :
I agree. I’m going to take the Rams easy. And by the way, what if the Raiders and Giants both go into this game and try to forfeit?
SPEAKER 06 :
They get a tie.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes. They both try to suck for the top pick. Richard, I think it’d be a lot of fun to watch. Richard, you got to run, don’t you?
SPEAKER 15 :
I got to run, Andy. Have a Merry Christmas, everyone. We will talk next week for picks, I believe.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes. Richard, have a Merry Christmas. That was fun, wasn’t it? All right. Let’s take a break. When we come back, I’m going to tell you, you know, it is easy for me to criticize or critique all of the Colorado GOP governor candidates. But when we come back, I’m going to tell you the message that I think our candidate for governor should use. Okay, because to win in this blue state, I think you can do it while still staying true to your values. We’ll do that next. Up next is Veteran windows and doors. You know how a great front door makes your whole house look better? Tanner, have you noticed this?

SPEAKER 07 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive. This is John Rush.
SPEAKER 14 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason. Denver’s Afternoon Rush. KLC 560. Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole.
SPEAKER 04 :
Man.
SPEAKER 14 :
And Tanner, we missed two games. I’m sorry. I was in such a hurry. I was trying to get through them all that I forgot the Saturday games. Okay, real quick here. Let’s do them. The Houston Texans are on the road at the Los Angeles Chargers. And the Chargers are favored by two and a half. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m surprised we’re favored since in the wild card matchup last year, they dismantled us.
SPEAKER 14 :
You don’t see any revenge? Yeah, but you’re so hurt. Are you still missing both tackles?
SPEAKER 06 :
Both tackles will be out no matter what. And somehow Herbert’s playing out of his mind. I mean, what a dog he is. He has a broken hand.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and let me ask you this. Are you going to get either of those tackles back for the playoffs?
SPEAKER 06 :
Not that I know of. Joe Alta maybe, but I know Slater. There’s no chance. But what happened last year is Will Anderson Jr. and Daniil Hunter just ran crazy on him. Yeah. Right. And then you get the big DTs. No one on our line is good. Becton might be the best, and he’s going to perform.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so you’re picking the Texans.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m picking the Texans, unfortunately.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m going to go the other way. I’m going to take the Chargers. Why? Because I don’t like the Texans’ offense.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
And that’s what it comes down to. I think the Texans will make mistakes on the road because I agree with everything you just said. But I think they’re going to throw a couple picks and get in trouble.
SPEAKER 06 :
And we have good defense. So, like, if C.J. Stroud throws a few bad passes, which he’s known to do, we can easily turn that into a touchdown immediately.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Next game, the Baltimore Ravens. They are on the road at my Green Bay Packers. Packers are favored by two and a half.
SPEAKER 06 :
um just so you know i’m picking the packers to lose every game the rest of the year so go ahead i mean the ravens really have nothing to play for after last night’s loss to the patriots so i’m gonna take the packers i thought malik willis looked fantastic for being thrown into the game after jordan love went out in the first half i mean the bears the fact that they barely won that game shows that i don’t think they’re actually that good they just could win games and ben johnson is a good coach
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, you know, I’m… Tell you what, I’m going to do a heart pick. You know why? Because it’s Christmas season. I always pick from the head, not the heart. I’m going to go with you. I’m going to take the Packers here just because it feels good, even though they’re not a good team.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’ll be a two-day late Christmas present.
SPEAKER 14 :
They’re a mess. Okay, are you ready to talk about campaigning? Now, as you know, it is so easy, so easy for us folks on the radio to come out and say… oh man, the candidate should say this, they should do that, they should do this, they should do that, but we never give our way that we would do it. So right now I’m going to give you my way that I think a candidate for governor in Colorado needs to campaign. All right. And this is true in any blue state. But I think it’s really true in Colorado because in Colorado, over half of the voters are unaffiliated. Okay. And the smallest party by far is the Republicans of the major parties. Okay. So we’re going uphill. Are you ready?
SPEAKER 05 :
Ready.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. First of all, you’ve got to have a slogan, folks. Because here’s the thing. You can’t… We have had three straight candidates who were all fine candidates in their own way, right? Beaupre, you’ve got Heidi Ganahl, you’ve got… I’m suddenly… Oh, I’m forgetting his name. But whatever. They were all fine. They all did well. But here’s the thing. None of them made a splash with their messaging. None of them came out and did something… That would surprise people. That would wake people up. That would be different. That would say, here is how the state is wrong and here’s how to be better and different for you. My slogan is three words. You do you. Okay? My slogan is you do you. I believe our candidate for governor should be basically saying you do you. That’s why I’m here, folks. And here’s why. Here’s the message. After eight years of a governor wanting his agenda to be everyone’s law, it’s time for your priorities to come first. Live your life your way, not the governor’s way. You do you. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think it could work. The problem is there’s so many people that Them doing them would be like, well, we want the illegals here. We think homelessness is good.
SPEAKER 14 :
That’s fine. That’s fine. But you got to keep in mind, those are generally issues where it’s at least 50-50 and sometimes 60-40 in our favor.
SPEAKER 05 :
True.
SPEAKER 14 :
So I’m okay with that. The left, the people on the left, you do you means control other people.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. It means overrun other people with illegals. It means, you know, crime everywhere and we don’t care. You get the idea, but we’re not trying to win them.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m trying to win the people in the middle. Gotcha. Now I’m going to apply this to many issues. Here we go. Education. Your child’s success should be the only agenda, left, right, or middle in public schools. You raise your kids your way while our great teachers give them tools to succeed. You do you. It is time for the state of Colorado to stop parenting your child. It’s time for the state of Colorado to stop telling, you know, listening to whatever activists have the governor in their pocket and pushing their beliefs on your kid. The school should do one thing, help your kid kick ass in the free market and nothing else. You do you, and we will serve you. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I like that. I mean, I think any parent that’s not out of their mind would just want their kid to learn and grow each year and be able to know more common knowledge is kind of what school starts out as, just learning about basics of math, basics of science, basics of history, instead of, oh, you can be whatever gender you want, little Johnny or Sally.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and by the way, understand, my personal view is we need school choice right now across the board. Yeah. You can work toward that, but first you’ve got to get in the office. So instead, first say the public schools shouldn’t serve any agenda except your child’s success. All right. Next one, transportation. Here we go. More lanes, fewer potholes, no excuses. Okay. You are the customer. So your transportation dollars should build what you use most, not what politicians and activists demand. These are your roads, so get ready to roll. You do you. Go. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I like that. Even just on my drives home from work, I know where the potholes are. My mind just naturally already starts moving the car one way or the other because I know where they’re going to be. It’s a nightmare out there. I’m from California, and I will stand by it. The drivers are worse here.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it’s not even close.
SPEAKER 14 :
By the way, and if people say, well, what do you mean by that? Aren’t we putting the money toward that now? Actually, no, we’re not. Okay. We’re putting the money toward a lot of things. Like, let me give you an example. Bike lanes. Now, I’m not against bikes. I ride bikes. Okay. But I believe we’ve got to set up cameras and we’ve got to analyze. Let’s say down off Broadway, they took away two lanes on Broadway downtown to make bigger bike lanes. Okay. Why? So people wouldn’t have to, you know, ride on the… on the side well here’s the thing i would station cameras and i would measure usage i want to know what you the customer use so where we have put these bike lanes how many bikes do we have in an hour two hours three hours during the heavy times of the day and how many cars Okay. And if there are more cars and bikes, then why are we putting the money, more money toward bikes and displacing lanes for cars?
SPEAKER 06 :
And there’s a lot more cars. I hardly ever see anyone running bikes, especially, I mean, we’ve had a mild winter, but once there’s snow on the ground, there’s no bike riders.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. And obviously, I understand that’s different between the mayor and the governor. I understand. But as a governor, you can be an advocate. As a governor, you could look at these mayors and say, hey, Hey, we need more lanes for people. That’s all they want. They want more lanes. They want to get where they’re going, baby. They want to move, move, move, move, move. They want to go. Okay. And you got them sitting while there’s an empty lane sitting there with one bike every 20 minutes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Now it’s not that bad, but I’m exaggerating, but you know what I mean? You would have had hundreds of cars.
SPEAKER 06 :
Instead of adding lanes, they’re adding more cameras to have us pay more bills.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. That’s Aurora. Well, they’re doing it in some other places as well. So once again, more lanes, fewer potholes, no excuses. What we are going to look at, we’re going to look at things like rail. Right. You can go by rail. You can go by car. You can go by bus. You can go by RTD. You can go by scooter. You can go by bike. What we’re going to do is we’re going to analyze the numbers and look at the usage. We’re going to look at what you, the customer, do. What do you want to use? Forget what we want you to use. What do you want to use? And we’re going to make more of what it takes for that. And guess what? The numbers are going to show overwhelmingly you want to drive.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
So why are we constricting it to make more other stuff?
SPEAKER 05 :
Agreed.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. We have made a lot of that other stuff, and I think it’s great. It’s fine that it’s out there. Guess what? It’s time to make more lanes right now and to take care of the ones we got next. Plastic bags. The choice of bags should be between businesses and customers, not imposed by politicians. Why are you paying for other people’s activism? Activism is great, but you should choose what activism gets your hard-earned dollars. You do you. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. I don’t even want to bring a bag in the grocery store now just to oppose the law.
SPEAKER 14 :
It’s just silly.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. Well, I bring a bag in and I’m like, this didn’t even fit everything. So what am I doing? And now I’m looking like an idiot dropping stuff in the parking lot.
SPEAKER 14 :
Now, I just do like Sam’s, you know, throw it in the car, take it out to the car. I’ve got stuff out there, and I put it in the back. But, no, it’s ridiculous, folks. Why am I paying for other people’s activism? Here, look, you go to the grocery store. The milk is in plastic jugs. Tons of stuff is sold in plastic. I get a bag of Twizzlers. They’re in plastic. You’ve got plastic all throughout the entire place.
SPEAKER 06 :
Essentially everything you buy.
SPEAKER 14 :
That is all going to be thrown out, and yet I can’t put these things in a plastic bag. I can’t agree on that between me and Safeway. That’s between me and safer.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. Wasn’t a relevant thing to police. Yeah. It means nothing. Right. And then the paper bags are so fragile, everything just falls through it anyways.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right, and you’re killing trees for those. It’s ridiculous. You do you. Let people choose their own bags and put that between them and the businesses. Get the government out of it.
SPEAKER 04 :
Come on.
SPEAKER 14 :
And I got news for you. Most people would agree with that. Next, economy. You deserve an economy people run to, not from. Right now, people run from stifling blue states to freer red states where people live their own way. So let’s be a to, not a from. You do you. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I keep seeing articles or just even people posting on social media with the information. People are leaving Denver and not like, you know, a couple here and there. It’s shutting down. Right. And even you drive around downtown, you drive around anywhere, you will see a lot more businesses closing. out of business compared to three, five years ago. An alarming rate. And it’s not just Denver. It’s happening in every major city in Colorado. Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Now, understand the whole idea of you do use this self-government folks. We Republicans have won. We don’t we can’t shower people with free stuff because to do that, you must rob other people who produce. Right. And we know that’s going to be bad. The one thing we can give people is liberty. And it sells. People like liberty. They like it a lot. So sell liberty in ways that they understand that will connect with them. You see what I would say if they say, well, what do you mean by that? I’d say, well, that’s very simple. When we look at all the proposals that are coming up, I’m going to tell you, I’m going to ask you this. What are reds? What are these states doing? Forget red and blue. What are these states doing where people are going to? And what are these states doing where people are going from where people are going from? The last thing you want to do is make us more like the froms and less like the tos.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
You see, and everything you’ve been doing has been making us more like the froms and less like the tos.
SPEAKER 06 :
Since 2015, Denver has seen, I guess, net migration drop 70%.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, where people were just piling in.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
And they’re still coming into Colorado, but it’s getting lower and lower and lower. We’ve got to end that. Okay, next, crime. No one hates a bad cop more than a good cop. You deserve lots of cops with DAs keeping threats off your streets. Car theft and other crimes have skyrocketed in Colorado, while leadership does nothing. But I want criminals punished so you can live free. You do you. What do you think, Tanner?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think if you oppose that, you’ve lost your mind.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Who wouldn’t want less crime, less homelessness? I mean, less drug use.
SPEAKER 14 :
Look, you can’t do you if you’re not safe out there. You can’t do you. You can’t do you if you’ve got homeless people out in front of your business driving away customers. You can’t do you if your kids can’t be safe walking down to the playground. You can’t do you if there are drugs going through your school. You can’t do you. You see how it goes? You can’t do you if crime is allowed to run rampant. Let me tell you something. You can’t do you In Baltimore. You can’t do you in Seattle. You can’t do you in Minneapolis. Do you want to be them?
SPEAKER 06 :
No. I want to be as far from them as I can.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, next. Energy. Energy policy should serve the most Coloradoans, not reward the most activists. Let me say that again. Energy policy should serve the most Coloradoans, not reward the most activists. Colorado energy prices are far too high, and it’s because a few activists get everything they want at your expense. Again, activism is great, but you shouldn’t pay for other people’s activism. They should pay for their own. Let’s let you choose the energy you use. You do you. What do you think?
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. I mean, paying an energy bill is not fun in this state.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. You want a gas car? Fine. You want a gas stove? Fine. Okay. You want to use the energy that you want.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it’s pretty tough because Excel seems to have monopoly not only on our state, but about five other states in the region.
SPEAKER 14 :
Good point. Monopolies suck, don’t they?
SPEAKER 06 :
They’re like, oh, we have a planned outage. It’s like, why is it planned?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
The grid should be working, but our grids are so outdated.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and also it should be supplied by, I’m just going to say it, folks, by coal, by natural gas, by nuclear. That’s where you’re going to get the electricity you need. You’re not going to get it from wind farms. Next, health care. We were talking about this earlier. You shouldn’t pay for anything you don’t choose.
SPEAKER 05 :
Agreed.
SPEAKER 14 :
Let me say that again. You shouldn’t pay for anything you don’t choose. Your costs are too high, folks, because you’re buying other people’s stuff. But only you should choose what coverage your dollars buy. You do you. Agreed. You want cheaper health care? It’s right there, folks. It’s right there. It means that you choose what you want. I want coverage for this and this and this and this, not for that, that, that, and that. Well, then no politician should tell you you have to get that, that, that, and that. It costs too much. Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I purposely make mine as low as possible. I mean, I’m a young, healthy man, so I don’t need much. But in general, I mean, I’m still paying over $100 and I don’t even really use it.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. And this is what, by the way, for those who don’t understand, if you’re a young person listening right now, Obamacare was designed to rob you blind. Obamacare was designed to make young people pay more. For old people. For people like me. I’m 62. Obamacare was designed to rob Tanner and pay Andy. That’s not fair.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
I like Tanner. I don’t want him robbed from me. Andy should have saved up. Sound fair? Sounds fair. Okay. Last one. Election integrity. No one, left, right, or middle, should replace your vote with an unlawful vote. Elections can be accessible for all and safe from fraud, ensuring your vote really counts. You do you. Okay? In other words, your vote matters. You can’t do you if we’re allowing a bunch of other people to unlawfully vote.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. You could have 50 illegals voting. My vote’s a joke.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right, or maybe just 50 people who are voting twice, three times. It doesn’t have to be illegals. There are lots of legal illegals.
SPEAKER 06 :
Or fabricated votes, even.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, by the way, in Fulton County, Georgia, we recently found out that, guess what, folks? A lot of votes were not legal. Three hundred and fifteen thousand were not legal. They just found this out, I believe, over the weekend or right before. And Fulton County was probably the number one county that concerned Donald Trump in the 2020 election. I was talking 2020. OK, folks, it is not a bad thing to ask somebody to provide a legal ID. Right. To vote.
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, I had to get a legal ID in like 2019. Yeah, it shouldn’t shouldn’t have been that hard. And I was a 19 year old all by myself.
SPEAKER 14 :
OK, here’s the conclusion. See where I’m going with this. I’m taking the greatest Republican priority, personal liberty, and I’m selling it beyond the Republican base. This unites us, draws others. Shouldn’t that be the goal?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
OK, Tanner, what would you do? OK, I mean, if you if you were a candidate talking to Coloradans and you only had Liberty’s sell. But by the way, Liberty should sell great.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
It’s Liberty is cheap. Liberty makes things cheaper for you. OK, everybody talks about affordability. Yeah. Liberty makes things affordable. It drives down costs.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
What do you think of this game plan?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think it’s a good one. Personally, my biggest concern is the crime, homelessness, and illegal population, but that’s kind of hard to run on, purely that. But I would… Mainly focused on we’re trying to keep our cities safe and keep people from ODing.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Well, here’s the thing. You need a slogan you can apply everywhere, right? Okay. You do you. You said, what about illegals? Okay. Can you do you when you get hurt and illegals are overrunning an emergency room?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, or they crash into your car.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, can you do you when you’re a parent and you already pay a lot in property taxes for good schools for your kids, and yet those schools, the costs are eaten up by too many illegal immigrant kids who are in them. And that doesn’t mean they’re not wonderful kids. They’re beautiful kids. All people are beautiful. Every child is a miracle. But we’re talking about money here. We’re talking about your money.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I mean, you’re paying for your kid to go to hopefully a good public or private school. But then when they have kids that don’t speak the language or there’s more kids in there, it’s harder for your kid to learn. Right. And that’s just not your kids. Every kid in there. Once you add more students, it’s harder to learn.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. See, here’s the thing. You do you means for the for all the money you pay on your home. And the taxes you pay. And by the way, even if you’re renting, it’s still that because your landlord is having to pay these taxes and that goes into your costs, right? So for all the money that you are paying for better schools, I want you to get your money’s worth for your kids. Okay. And OG, by the way, like I said earlier, I want your child’s success to be the only agenda in those schools.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. It’s what it should be.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Okay, if your child’s success is the only agenda there, is it going to be cheaper to run?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, a lot cheaper. If, okay, if we have fewer illegal immigrants bidding on the houses that you want to buy, are houses going to be cheaper for you?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, okay. If we have fewer illegal immigrants in emergency rooms, are they going to cost less, cost fewer tax dollars, and have more availability for you when you need them? See where I’m going with this? You do you works great with Trump’s view on illegal immigration.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. The few times I’ve ever even been in an emergency room, it takes three hours, if not longer, to even get helped. And I’m looking around, I’m like, I might be the only American in here.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Now, getting back to our previous governor, gubernatorial candidates, I guess you can call it that. It was Stapleton. That’s who I was actually trying to think of. Guys, we have had some great candidates and we have this debate right now in the Republican Party. Some want the hard line Republican, you know, who’s just going to come out and tell the truth and trust that that’s going to sell to the middle. look, I’m all for telling the truth, but how do you package it? I package it in terms of personal liberty. I package it in terms of personal liberty making their life better. Not you be like me, but you do you. And on the other side of the Republican Party, you’ve got the moderates, right? And they say, oh, we’ve just got to be moderate, moderate, you know, wimpy, wimpy, wimpy. No, none of those darn principles. That drives away the middle. Guess what? You will get milquetoast candidates who bore people.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. And don’t really stand on anything.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Guys, make America great again. It’s a slogan. You can apply it across the board to everything. You do you. It’s a slogan. You can apply it across the board to everything. We need a slogan. Before we even have a candidate, the candidate needs a slogan. If you don’t have a good sales pitch, guess what? You’re not going to sell, and I don’t care if you’re the best candidate out there. I don’t care if you’re Victor Marx or Scott Bottoms or whoever. These are great people, okay? But selling to our base only gets you about 20%, 21% of the market.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. And you probably already have them. Why not sell to the market that no one can tap, it seems?
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. Without… Alienating your base. Right. Okay. Without leaving your base behind, bring them along. So the reason I like UDU is we are selling self-governance to the people of Colorado in a way that the base can be proud.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it’s kind of like taking back your liberty. Yeah. Because it’s been stripped from us. Exactly. Especially in the city of Denver. If you’re outside, maybe a little less, but…
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. Well, tell you what, when we get back, so do we agree? Sound pretty good? Okay. Yeah. And, you know, it doesn’t have to be you do you, but something like that, folks, something that really sells personal liberty because that’s our product. Okay. Up next is a different product. SPEAKER 12 :
New regulations are about to make heating your home a lot more expensive. But Cub Creek Heating and AC can help you get ahead of the changes. Colorado’s new ultra-low NOx rules change the way furnaces and water heaters burn fuel. And once the current inventory is gone, the price to heat, repair, or replace a furnace could jump dramatically. Some estimates say by as much as 60%. These so-called high-efficiency units are also more finicky. They require precise installation. They’re more likely to break down if anything is installed incorrectly. And they could add $60 to $100 a month to your heating bill. So if your furnace is getting older, now might be the smartest and most affordable time to replace it and save thousands later. Rheem Certified Pro Partners at Cub Creek don’t upsell. They’re HVAC experts. They’re not salesmen. Let them take a look and give you an honest assessment of whether it makes sense to replace your system proactively. It’s worth a quick call. Reach out to Cub Creek Heating and AC today by visiting the advertisers page on klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 14 :
We inform you. Now, back to Rush to Reason. And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Okay, Tanner, let’s close with this really quick here. You went to chat GPT and asked them, what kind of slogan should we use, Colorado GOP and Colorado GOP?
SPEAKER 06 :
Protecting our values, preserving our Colorado.
SPEAKER 14 :
That would bomb. Okay, that comes off, folks, that comes off, doesn’t make a splash anywhere. It bores people. They would not see anything different in that. It wouldn’t cause a question mark to form above their head to where they would say, what do you mean by that? Okay, next.
SPEAKER 06 :
Common sense for the centennial state.
SPEAKER 14 :
Awful. Okay. First of all, the centennial state. People don’t want to talk about the past. They want to talk about the now. Common sense is about the most boring phrase. Look, this is the kind of stuff we can’t use. Okay. We have to use something that causes a splash that is repeatable, that people will instantly memorize it, and they can use it anywhere. And they can apply it and debate it and even argue about it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right. Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Before we go, because you’re a young person. I’m not. I’m as old as the hills. I saw them formed. It was volcanic activity. There was a poll. 64% of Americans support banning teenagers from social media. That’s Fox News poll. What is your thought?
SPEAKER 06 :
I grew up in the heart of social media with Instagram, Snapchat all coming out when I was in middle school. And everyone jumped on. It was very fun and friendly and everything was great. But I kind of agree at least until maybe 16 when they can drive. And maybe they’re not so still in their teenage years of anger, anxiety, depression, and maybe a little more removed from it. Looking at colleges, you know, kind of looking towards their future instead of relicking on, oh, I hate going to school every day. There’s just so much depression and anxiety prevalent now compared to when I was a kid.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, here’s my question, because I don’t like the idea of denying freedoms to people and all this, but, you know, we don’t let them drink and, you know, drink. Right. You know, what is it like for a young person? I know it’s hard enough just to meet the peer pressure at school.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
What is it like for a young person who is not formed mentally yet and emotionally yet to be exposed to the entire world on the phone?
SPEAKER 06 :
When you see so much on there, whether it’s… And you put your stuff on there.
SPEAKER 14 :
You put your posts on there.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. Well, as long as you’re not private, anyone can come on your page and say whatever they want, do whatever they want on your page or profile or whatever. But I think being able to see stuff that’s very terrible in the world and then you see people who pretend to be millionaires flying on private jets going wherever they want, luxury, all these hot babes around them when that’s not reality. And then they start thinking to their own mind, why don’t I have this already?
SPEAKER 14 :
You know, here’s another thing, and this is going to sound weird. We’ve got about a minute left. I look at a bunch of kids staring into their phones, and it’s like the wonder has gone out of their eyes.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
Nothing is a new experience anymore because you can see it either in real or CGI on your phone instantly.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. Even with, I mean, all the crime and terrible things that happen in this country across the world, we’re all numb to it at this point. Like, we see a terrible terror attack. Everyone’s just like, well, that’s, you know, kind of another day.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, well, what’s the age? You’ve got about 20 seconds. What’s the age?
SPEAKER 06 :
I think it’s at least 15.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so at 16, you can use a phone. I mean, be on social media.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s what I would do. I’m not going to allow my kids to have social media until at least then.
SPEAKER 14 :
Because social media is the public square. A lot of dangerous things and mean, nasty things happen in the public square. I don’t like kids jaded that young.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I’ve noticed it even as being an adult. If I’m on there too long, I am not liking what I’m seeing for the most part, and it makes me not feel great. So I stay off of it as much as I can.
SPEAKER 14 :
Tanner, you’re much wiser than I am on this topic. Really, I had never really thought about it. Okay, thank you so much. Tanner Coleman, did you have fun, sir?
SPEAKER 06 :
Had a great time. Merry Christmas, everyone. Or happy holidays.
SPEAKER 14 :
Either one?
SPEAKER 06 :
Either one.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, folks, that’s it for Hour 2 and Hour 3. Jersey Joe is going to join me, bring some politics and humor. Until then, keep it right here on Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
For each guy
