SPEAKER 07 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, April 24th, 2026. I’m Eric Hansen. This week, one Democrat acts like a Republican, while another acts like a traitor. Plus, the president promises to jump into the lion’s den. But first, let’s get some common sense on Iran, courtesy of columnist and podcaster Victor Davis Hansen.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, media narratives can form public opinion, can win over hearts and minds, and that’s why it’s so important to call the media out for its corruption, the legacy media. Thankfully, there are good people and smart people like Victor Davis Hanson, a good alternative to the mainstream media. Let’s check out what he said, courtesy of the Daily Signal, about what’s happening in Iran and how this thing is going to play out.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know a lot of you have been exasperated by the reaction to the Iran war from the Democratic grandees in the House and Senate. The liberal media, the New York Times, particularly the Washington Post, NPR, PBS, the network, even the Wall Street Journal’s news section. And then we have some people on the right who have also looked at the war and said it was lost, it went south, it was going to World War III, blah, blah, blah. All of them share one thing in common. Excuse me, two things in common. One, they wanted it not to go well. Wanted it not to go well because it would reflect… badly on Donald Trump and his administration. And if you were a Democrat, that would give you some momentum going into the midterms. And if you were a disaffected former supporter, it would prove to the world that you were right all along and Donald Trump is reckless and got us into a forever unwinnable war. But whatever the particular reason was, Both of them were not historical analyses. Both these people never were empirical. They were never historical. Had they looked at America’s wars in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and more importantly, more recently, the bombing campaign in Serbia or the bombing campaign in Libya or the first Gulf War or the second Gulf War or the Afghan, they would have come up with some data, some information. And then they could have compared this particular engagement and compared it with the others. Or they could have said to themselves, I’m not going to prejudice what happens. I’m going to look exactly what the data is on the ground.
SPEAKER 04 :
The data on the ground shows that we’re winning in historic fashion. It’s one of the most successful military operations the United States has ever participated in. And there’s a smart guy, Victor Davis Hanson, with really smart analysis. I can tell you with certainty what the common denominator is here. The left and the Trump haters, those who despise this administration, want America to fail. It’s really that simple. They are rooting against America. They are literally hoping Iran can prevail. Because if Iran prevails, Trump fails. And if Trump fails, they think that’s a victory. They refuse to acknowledge that Donald Trump is the American president for all people, whether they like it or not. He is their president. whether they like it or not. We know they don’t like it. But they don’t accept that. Do you remember years ago, Rush Limbaugh got into some hot water because he said that he essentially didn’t want Barack Obama’s agenda to succeed. And so he said, look, if he succeeds, that means his agenda succeeds, and I don’t want that. Oh my gosh. People lost their marbles. Look how un-American Rush is. He hates America. He wants America to fail, blah, blah, blah. Well, this is the same kind of narrative only on steroids.
SPEAKER 07 :
Not so long ago, Tucker Carlson strongly supported our president. Today, he’s apologizing for his enthusiasm.
SPEAKER 04 :
For years, I have always appreciated and supported and even admired Tucker Carlson. For me, the hour of Tucker’s show on Fox News was just, what was the old NBC phrase? Must-see TV. Never missed it. It was the one show I never missed. I found Tucker to be funny, compelling, interesting, quirky, different, and solidly conservative. For example, there’s no way that Tucker Carlson could ever believe that Kamala Harris would be better for the country than Donald Trump. Well, yesterday, Tucker made it official. Yesterday, Tucker revealed on his podcast that he is sorry for having misled people while he was campaigning on behalf of Donald Trump. I’m going to play this because I just want to share with you my apology for ever thinking this guy was the real deal. And it’s heartbreaking to watch. To understand what is being revealed by some of these folks is pretty depressing. Here’s what Tucker said yesterday.
SPEAKER 08 :
You and I and everyone else who supported him, you wrote speeches for him. I campaigned for him. I mean, we’re implicated in this for sure. Yes. It’s not enough to say, well, I changed my mind or like, oh, this is bad. I’m out. It’s like in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now. Yes. So I do think it’s like a moment to wrestle with our own consciences. you know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be. And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people. It was not intentional. That’s all I’ll say. But anyway, but the question does present itself immediately. Like, what is this? Was this always the plan? You don’t want to be a conspiracy nut. But like, clearly there were signs of low character. We knew that. Yes. But it didn’t. There are tons of people of low character who like outperform their character. It doesn’t have to be. Sort of the norm, actually, these days, I would say. I’ve outperformed my character a lot.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s his brother, incidentally, Buckley. So Tucker and Buckley are both expressing remorse for having misled people during their support for Donald Trump. Look, I can’t even begin to get into the mind of somebody like him or get into his heart. I don’t know what’s in his heart. I don’t know what’s on his brain.
SPEAKER 07 :
Tucker’s about face is disappointing, but in a game of hold my beer, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy wins easily. I’m going to share something with you.
SPEAKER 04 :
If I told you that in April of 2026, a U.S. senator was rooting for America’s enemy, Iran. I don’t think you’d believe me. I want to tell you a little bit about this Democrat senator, Chris Murphy. He and Waltz went over to, what was it, Spain this week? There is something so odious about a political figure, or even a media celebrity who hates America to go overseas and trash our president and our country. But that is precisely what this rabid lunatic from Connecticut, Senator Chris Murphy, did. Check out what he said in Spain.
SPEAKER 06 :
So I’m here as a United States senator, a member of the Democratic Party, and I want to bring you greetings as well from a nation that is in crisis. I’m not going to sugarcoat the gravity of what we face right now in the United States. This is the most significant threat to American democracy since the Civil War. Donald Trump in our country is trying to end our democracy. We are not on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. We are in the middle of it. He is trying to seize control of our courts, of our law enforcement, of our media, of our elections. His goal is oligarchic capture. He doesn’t believe in democratic equality. He doesn’t believe in shared prosperity. He believes only in the consolidation of wealth and the consolidation of power.
SPEAKER 04 :
Now, none of that, of course, is true. There’s not one word of that that’s true. But for a U.S. Senator to go to Spain and trash our country this way should make you physically ill. But it gets worse. Here’s a U.S. Senator on social media, same one, Chris Murphy, Somebody posted on X the following. At least 26 Iranian shadow fleet vessels bypass the U.S. blockade. Do you know what Chris Murphy wrote? One word when he reposted that news that at least 26 Iranian shadow fleet vessels bypass the United States blockade at the Strait of Hormuz. You know what he wrote? Awesome. That’s right. The same guy you just heard trashing America in Spain is now trashing America by cheering for Iran. Awesome, he wrote. A U.S. Senator openly rooting for Iran to defeat the United States in battle. That’s today’s Democrat Party. This is what they’ve become. This is who they are. They hate this country because the country elected a president that they don’t agree with. And so now they’re turning on America. I mean, this is not some county commissioner somewhere. That’s a United States senator rooting for Iran to defeat us. And he’ll never walk it back. I mean, there ought to be pushback. There ought to be resistance to that. There ought to be consequences for this. He won’t take any responsibilities. This is who they are. This is who they are. And we have to know what we’re up against.
SPEAKER 07 :
But despite that, one Democrat has a drop of common sense, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman.
SPEAKER 04 :
So I’m watching 60 Minutes last night, just shaking my head. Can’t believe what I’m watching. They interviewed an expert, a former White House nuclear advisor named Matthew Bunn. Check out what Matthew Bunn said last night on 60 Minutes.
SPEAKER 02 :
There’s no doubt that the combination of the strikes in June of last year and the ongoing war have seriously set back Iran’s capabilities. But the remaining capabilities are substantial. You can’t bomb away their knowledge.
SPEAKER 09 :
UN inspectors believe Iran has close to 1,000 pounds of uranium enriched to 60%, nearly ready to be used in a nuclear weapon. 970 pounds of 60% highly enriched uranium.
SPEAKER 02 :
What can you do with that? So that is enough material for, if you enrich it just a little bit more, for 10 to 11 nuclear bombs.
SPEAKER 04 :
10 to 11 nuclear bombs. They’re almost at the capability of producing 10 to 11 nuclear bombs. That’s on 60 Minutes last night. That wasn’t, you know, Life, Liberty, and Levin on Fox News. That was 60 Minutes. And that’s a former White House nuclear advisor. Who do you want to win? Do you want Iran to win? And sadly, I think the answer for many people is you do. I watched John Fetterman with Laura Ingraham Friday night. And I couldn’t believe it. I thought, you know, I guess we should be grateful that the Democrats have gotten so crazy radical extremist. Because if the Democrats were smart, they’d embrace the logic and the thinking of somebody like Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman. It dawned on me what John Fetterman is. Fetterman is a throwback to our parents’ and our grandparents’ Democratic Party. That’s what Fetterman is. Here he was making his debut appearance Friday night on Laura Ingram’s show on Fox News Channel.
SPEAKER 03 :
I mean, Israel has done what was necessary, you know, to break and destroy Hamas and to break and destroy Hezbollah. Absolutely. And also Iran as well, too. People, people, you know, if you have a platform and if you want to criticize someone, criticize Iran, criticize Hamas, criticize Hezbollah, you know, the entire, you know, they’re one gigantic war crime. They can’t they really can’t fight, engage in traditional kind of warfare. All they can do is just fire off rockets and civilians or they can they can create hostages or rape and torture them underground for two years. That’s all they are. That’s the thing, you know. So with Israel. I’m not saying Israel perfect. You know, America is not perfect, but we are the force of good. You know, as Israel is, if you have to criticize some side, you know, pick pick our side, stand with our special ally. And now this Democrat continues to abandon Israel. I’ll be the last man standing if that’s what’s necessary.
SPEAKER 04 :
Nothing but common sense from that guy. And if today’s Democrat Party reflected what John Fetterman represents, I’m not sure Republicans would ever win another election. Man, oh man. SPEAKER 07 :
This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. Democrats in Virginia celebrated a big victory this week. They won a vote to redistrict the state.
SPEAKER 04 :
Gerrymandering or redistricting is the practice of manipulating a congressional district and specifically the boundaries of a voting district to give one political party an unfair advantage. For example, in the Northeast, in New England, there isn’t a single Republican represented in Congress. And, of course, in New England, 30-40% Republican voters. They have no representation whatsoever. And that means that Democrats can inflict their will over people who… don’t have any semblance of what they believe in, what those elected representatives believe in. In this case, the reason Virginia did it, after Spanberger promised she wouldn’t, she campaigned against gerrymandering. And then as soon as she got elected, she dove right in to redistricting in Virginia. She’s a liar. She’s a fraud. She’s a total, total scam artist. She campaigned like a moderate, and she’s governing like a tyrant, like a radical. And that’s why she now, right now, enjoys one of the lowest approval ratings of any governor in the country. They hate her, and for good reason. And the other thing that you’re going to hear a lot of is, is that, well, Trump and Texas started it. That’s a lie. That’s a lie. Go back to New York, 2022. Look at Maryland. Look at Illinois. Look at New England. Democrats have been gerrymandering for years. Now, the reality is, the ugly truth is, both sides do it, and Virginia did it successfully yesterday. And it’s timely because this gives the Democrats… If Republicans don’t do anything about this, this gives Democrats a better chance of taking the House in the midterms. They picked up four seats. They’re going to pick up four seats in Congress. You know how many Florida can pick up if they do what has to be done now? Five. Florida can completely cancel out the Democrats’ victory yesterday in Virginia. 22 past the hour, 800-655-MIKE. Look, the whole thing is sad. All of it is kind of sickening. I don’t like any of it. And I’ve said this to you before. There ought to be fair representation in Congress. Districts ought to be drawn based on fair representation. Instead, politicians are redrawing maps to simply help them win more seats. And I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to deceive you, or I’m not going to be dishonest about this. Republicans have done it as well, and now we must. Now we have to. Hakeem Jeffries has given the marching orders. Warfare, maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time. Those 21 Republicans in Indiana who had a chance to do this back in December and failed… They shouldn’t get a moment’s sleep over how they betrayed the country, how they failed. And look, I’m sure plenty of them are nice people, but that’s the problem. Being nice with Democrats doesn’t work. They’re so enraged that they got their butts kicked in the 2024 election. They’re not over it. They’re so livid that the border is secure. They can’t stand it. All these illegals aren’t able to vote in Democrat elections.
SPEAKER 07 :
They may have won the vote, but the fight is far from over. Meanwhile, there was another tragic mass shooting in America this week, this time in Shreveport, Louisiana. Somehow, the mainstream media chose to ignore it.
SPEAKER 04 :
I saw the news reports yesterday about a man in Shreveport, Louisiana… who murdered eight children. This is a story of unspeakable evil. And I’m going to tell you that it’s not gotten the kind of national attention that one would think a story like this would receive. This was a guy identified as a 31-year-old Army veteran and a worker at UPS. He posted a picture of himself with one of his daughters hours before the massacre. His name was Shamar Elkins. And Shamar Elkins began his unspeakable carnage at three different addresses in Shreveport, Louisiana, shortly before 6 a.m. Central Time Sunday morning. The victims ranged in age from three to As a police rep read out all of their ages, the reporters gasped. This is a crime that is really unprecedented. And you know what’s disgusting? It’s not really that big of a national story. And I would ask you why that is. On social media, the assumption is because it’s due to the fact that this is a black family. Now, I don’t understand that. I don’t get why that would lead to sort of a media silence on a story like this. I saw somebody posted late last night, look, if a white guy had murdered seven of his kids plus another child, it’s all we’d be talking about in America the Monday after. This happens in Shreveport, Louisiana, and the guy, and he’s dead, by the way. The police killed him. He fled the scene of the crime, and then they had a big police chase, and they wound up shooting him dead. I don’t know the answer to this, because frankly, I don’t know why his race has anything to do with the media coverage, but maybe you do. As usual… The left and the Democrats blame the guns. It’s got to be guns. It’s all due to the guns’ fault. Now, it was already against the law for this guy to possess a gun because he had been convicted of a previous shooting. There is no gun law that would have prevented this. He wasn’t allowed to have a gun in the first place. And it’s been revealed that once again, another soft on crime district attorney got him probation. So this is a guy who didn’t mind breaking gun laws. Gavin Newsom posted after this happened, eight children murdered. This is a moral failure. It’s preventable. How many more kids have to be killed before the NRA stops paying off politicians? The NRA? What’s the NRA got to do?
SPEAKER 07 :
President Trump plans to attend the annual correspondence dinner in D.C. Now, I know he’s fearless, but does he need to jump into that pit of jackals?
SPEAKER 04 :
I know the man is fearless and I know he doesn’t care about a bunch of whiny journalists in Washington, D.C., but there really is no reason for him to go to this idiotic White House correspondence dinner. I saw that More than 250 journalists, including 94-year-old Dan Rather and 92-year-old Sam Donaldson, signed an open letter yesterday urging the press to forcefully demonstrate opposition to President Trump during the White House Correspondents Association dinner. We, the undersigned, call upon… Can you see 94-year-old Dan Rather… Courage! Courage! You know, Mr. Plagiarist got bounced from CBS because he wanted to smear George W. Bush so badly that he completely disgraced his career with false information about some National Guard story. Dan Rather, 94 years old. Sam Donaldson, remember him? A hundred years ago, he used to badger. Reagan back in the day, we the undersigned call upon the White House Correspondents Association to use the occasion of the White House Correspondents Dinner to forcefully demonstrate opposition to President Trump’s efforts to trample freedom of the press. Well, hey, Sam, what would you have them do? What do you want to do? You’re going to throw your walker at him? You’re going to take your cane, hit him with it? Hey, Dan Rather, what are you going to do? Are you going to throw your bottle of Geritol at him? What does forcefully demonstrating opposition look like to these old codgers? And 250 journalists signed it, including former Dateline NBC anchor Ann Curry. Well, she’s got nothing else to do these days. She used to be on Dateline. She used to be on it. So go ahead. Why not? Former NBC host Bob Dotson. Who the hell is he? Former ABC News correspondent Ann. And Obama official Lyndon. So all these formers are signing this letter saying that we should forcefully demonstrate opposition. Well, why don’t you do that? Why don’t you go on a hunger strike? That’s what you ought to do. Hey, journalists, just stop eating. Go on a hunger strike and really take a stand. Do something. Maybe self-amoliate. Is that the right way to put that word, Eric? Amoliate? Self-immolate? Light yourself on fire. Take a stand. They ought to wheel out Dan Rather. Dan Rather ought to get rolled into the room in a wheelchair, and he ought to light himself on fire and say, I am taking a stand. And poof, he goes up in smoke. Now, that would be something. Now, I would respect that, Mr. Rather. Why don’t you consider that? Just don’t have the person who’s pushing you in get caught up in the lighter fluid and the flames. It just should be you. Take a stand. Look, you’ve had a good life. You’re 94 years old. Go out with a bang. Light yourself on fire. That’ll really show the world Orange Man is bad. Trump’s a bad guy. He needs to stay home from this thing. He doesn’t need to go. He does not need to go to this thing.
SPEAKER 07 :
Mike’s headed out for a weekend in Vegas, but it didn’t come without challenges.
SPEAKER 04 :
I hear Vegas is struggling. And I screwed up the hotel reservations. So I made a hotel reservation using points. at one property and then I changed it thinking I could cancel, they’re not letting me cancel. So now basically I have an extra hotel room in a five-star hotel on the Vegas Strip that I can’t use and I can’t get my points back. And it’s so stupid. I’m like, are you kidding me? I mean, that was a lot of points. I think I used 170,000 points. from my, whatever you call it, visa thing or whatever. And they will not budge. They are saying, sorry, declined, refused. It was a non-refundable rate. Well, how do I know what a non-refundable rate is when I use the points to book a hotel room? So, hey, maybe I told Joey Hudson last night, maybe we ought to auction the room off for charity or something. Give it to a homeless person in Las Vegas. Because there’s a beautiful hotel that’s going to have a hotel room in my name Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night of this week that will not be used. I will not be in attendance. And I am livid about it. I couldn’t believe it. I could not believe it. But so be it. So be it. Believe it. This is the world we’re in. If you’ve got any ideas about what I can do with that hotel room, you let me know. Text me. 800-655-MIKE. Give me some suggestions. I think Eric Hansen’s got some ideas, but you need to work while I’m away, so nice try. 800-655-6453 if you’ve got any idea. Or my email, mike at mikeonline.com, because I’ve never had this situation before. They called me yesterday and said, sorry, Mr. Gallagher, they’re not going to give you your points back. I said, what do you mean you’re not? How are you not going to give me the points back? Well, it’s a nonrefundable rate, and they’ve already cashed in the points. You know, when you book an airplane ticket, if you book a flight on Delta or American, United, whatever, and you cancel and you use points and then you cancel, they put the points right back into your account. But not in Las Vegas, baby. They play hardball. They’re like the Democrats in Virginia.

Here’s something most people don’t know. When Warren Buffett was just 13 years old, he didn’t put his money into a savings account. While other kids were earning next to nothing at local banks, Buffett put $114 into a little-known investment. Today, that $114 would be worth over $15 million. And it wasn’t a risky trade. It It was an account that’s been around since 1888, and over the last 25 years, it’s averaged 29% a year. That’s what happens when your money is allowed to compound. Compare that to today’s savings accounts, paying less than half a percent while inflation quietly eats away at your buying power. Buffett understood early. Banks are great businesses, just not for savers. If you’d like to see what some investors call the 29% account, go now to secretaccount29.com. That’s secretaccount29.com.
