We’re on the forefront on that right here in colorado and what we’re seeing is the results of that is our economic growth has dropped to 41st in the nation and that is under this colorado governor we’ll see the world health organization land use codes zoning regulations force fees conservation easements national monument designations etc and we’ll be talking about these conservation easements and monument designations in both the first and second hour. But I thought he was really quirky in the interview, kind of a peculiar behavior. And so I thought, well, we’ll just choose quirk or quirky as a word of the day, Q-U-I-R-K. Your challenge is to use that in a sentence. And our quote of the day is from Ayn Rand. She was born in 1905, died in 1982. She was a Russian-born American author and philosopher. known for her fiction and for developing the philosophical system named Objectivism. She was born and educated in Russia and moved to the United States in 1926. And she had two early novels that were initially unsuccessful and two Broadway plays, but she became very famous with the 1943 novel The Fountainhead and then in 1957, atlas shrugged she said this the essential characteristic of socialism is the denial of individual property rights so any piece of legislation or any Ordinance or regulation or rule that denies property rights is moving us towards socialism, and that is happening quite a bit here in this state. So again, the essential characteristic of socialism is the denial of individual property rights. And that is why the work that the Colorado Union of Taxpayers is doing. And today the Colorado legislature convenes. So fasten your seatbelt on your rights and your property rights. But the Colorado Union of Taxpayers has been watching out for you since 1976. This day in history, 1790, the president, first U.S. president, George Washington, delivers his first State of the Union address. 1815, the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. uh was uh fought the war had ended on 24 december of 1814 but none of the combatants knew that and in fact colonel bill rutledge will be joining us in this a second segment of this first hour to talk about greenland but we had rebroadcast an interview on america’s veterans stories this last sunday that we had done regarding the battle of new orleans And that will be rebroadcast this Sunday night, 10 to 11 in the evening. And in 1835, the U.S. national debt is zero for the first and only time in history, and that was under the presidency of Andrew Jackson. And in 1853, the first U.S. bronze equestrian statue, which was of Andrew Jackson, is unveiled in Washington, D.C., 1902, I thought this was super interesting. Back then, this was just if you looked at a woman a certain way, and that was when men knew they were men and women knew they were women. But in 1902, New York State Assemblyman Francis G. Landon gets a bill passed to criminalize men turning around on a street and looking at a woman in that way.

In 1908, the first subway tunnel connecting Manhattan with Brooklyn under the East River opens in New York City. In 1940, Britain’s first World War II rationing includes rationing butter, sugar, and bacon. This I thought was interesting from a basketball standpoint. 1945, University of Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team sets an NCAA record by holding Arkansas State to six points. That game was 75-6. And 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson, a blizzard buries the U.S., causing at least 50 deaths. And that was in, let’s see. Oh, I got these things mixed up. And President, hold on just a second here. 1964, President Johnson declares the war on poverty. And then in 1996, a blizzard buries the eastern U.S., causing at least 50 deaths. Let’s see. I think that’s it on that. I wanted to get through just a few headlines. First of all, Mark Zuckerberg said that Meta, which was formerly Facebook, is going to end fact-checking program on Facebook and Instagram, which that was really censorship. And so I guess he’s admitting that they were censoring Americans during that time. Very, very Very serious. It’s good that they’re not going to do that or supposedly not going to do that anymore. Number two headline is these fires in Los Angeles and these photos of these abandoned vehicles. It looks a lot like this whole thing in Maui. This is pretty scary. So stay tuned on that. Just very tragic. Number three, the Massachusetts governor has changed her tune after vowing to fight Trump’s deportation efforts for illegal immigrants and now hopes that he fixes the border. And number four, again, all these marbles that Biden is trying to put in front of Trump and the American people, says Biden administration officials banned many new natural gas water heaters on December 26th in a regulatory push weeks before. Joe Biden leaves office, the new regulations on non-condensing gas water heaters would save a significant amount of energy and yield significant environmental benefits. He says, including decreasing carbon dioxide emissions. And as we know from the documentary, A Climate Conversation, that carbon dioxide is actually plant food. So again, Biden is trying to make it more difficult for Americans and for Donald Trump. And it is so important that we have these discussions, and we have them because of our sponsors. And now Greenland is in the news because Donald Trump is suggesting that Greenland become part of the United States or a territory. And so Colonel Rutledge and I were talking about it. I said, we should talk about this tomorrow on the show. So Colonel Rutledge, welcome to the show.

And this is super interesting, and you have such an interesting perspective on Greenland. So where do you want to start with this?
SPEAKER 21 :
Well, I think we should start by referring to recent comments by the president. He had mentioned earlier in the last week about our needs for better control and access through the Panama Canal. And then he also talked about the possibility of acquiring Greenland, maybe buying it directly from Denmark, which has been the supposed owner of it for the last 200 years. It’s really been like a satellite colony. And so it came out yesterday. He had a press conference at Mar-a-Lago that lasted about an hour and a half yesterday morning. And I was watching it. And he again introduced comments specifically about Greenland and then to a lesser extent comments about the Panama Canal. The one on the Greenland area really caught my attention because I lived there for a year in the most northern part of it at Thule Air Base from February of 1956 until March of 1957. And while I was there, I formed certain ideas about it, and then I subsequently did more research about Greenland. And the timeliness of his comments really caught my attention, so I went back to review my notes in one of the books that I have that relates specifically to Greenland’s history. So… The key is it looks like it’s sort of on the table for discussion, continued discussion. And then late yesterday evening, I saw his son, Donald Jr., being interviewed over Fox News, and he was being interviewed at Mar-a-Lago. He had just returned from a 14-hour trip, a round trip, to Greenland. And he had been on the ground up there for four to five hours talking with people. So there were tapes of the visit up there, conversations with the natives. And it just, it seems so timely and so significant. Because his view on Greenland and also on the Suez Canal, I mean on the The Panama Canal is that they’re both so strategic in the defense of the northern hemisphere, both us and Canada. And so consequently, I thought it was timely to address both of those, but specifically Greenland.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and he said that this is important to protect the U.S. and Canada from Russia and Chinese military and commercial routes through the Arctic Ocean. And he really is thinking strategically, yes?
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, let me address why the strategic location is so significant. The year that I was in Greenland, it was – a time when there was a great deal of hostility from the USSR. President Eisenhower was leading the American people, but we were very concerned about could the things which were happening in Europe have a big impact upon us. So consequently, there were times when the fighter squadron, which we had at Thule, and also we had a refueling squadron that was there every six months that came out of Omaha, and it was there to refuel the fighters and or any bombers. Well, the summer of 1956, we also suddenly had a squadron of B-47s, which was a medium-range bomber but we didn’t know it had nuclear weapons aboard. So there was a whole squadron up there, and the range on it is such that if they had ever been activated and sent towards the USSR, the closest route was over the polar area. And they didn’t have enough fuel to go around and trip. So there was so much it was… going on then. And that was a summer when the British and the French took over the Suez Canal from Egypt. It was also the time when the Hungarians were trying to break loose and gain their independence. So much was going on in the world. And the key that most people don’t think of is that when they associate China and Russia, they think of going across the Pacific or going across the Atlantic. But the most direct route is from Greenland over the ice cap.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and so are we in – what’s going on now with Russia and China there? Is there some action going on that has caused Trump to think about this?
SPEAKER 21 :
Well, yes. They have both expanded their naval capabilities, the Chinese especially. The Chinese have been in a very big building procedure for the last several years so that now the Chinese Navy – is actually numerically larger than the U.S. Navy. And the Russians’ Navy is smaller, but they are also pursuing opportunities to expand their polar capabilities by building icebreakers and just doing other experimentation in the Arctic area that is a much more direct route. Now, we know that we are in one of the cycles whereby the Arctic Ocean is warmer right now than it has been in a number of years, so that over on the northern end of Greenland, which is closer to the North Pole, that the water is warmer and so that some areas which before were not considered accessible coming from the European or Asian continent across the North Pole, now it’s conceivable that they might. And if the trend should continue, it would make it even more passable for both Russia and China. So consequently, the president very wisely said, looking down the road, is trying to be preventive and protective by acquiring greater control and access of Greenland. Because, for example, when I was there at Thule Air Base, which is the most northwesterly one, we would receive all of our food and most resupply of things in July and August. So that far north even, the Arctic Ocean is open. There’s a big long area called the Davis Straits that separates Greenland from northern Canada. So this would be a route that they would come down through on their way to Canada or the U.S., whether it’s for military vehicles, ships, or whether it is for commercial. But the main thing is it creates a concern, especially from the standpoint of military and national security.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and one thing, so you mentioned that the waters, that they might be warmer. We continue to hear about the polar ice caps are melting and that that is why we need to be concerned about global warming. And again, a plug for Climate Conversation. Check that out. And the podcast at a climate conversation dot com. But you had something very interesting that happened that proved that the Earth had been much warmer at a different point in time.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yes. There were two very distinct situations. The first week I was in Greenland, which was in the very last week of February 1956, I was staying in what’s called a transient BOQ area. a trench, an area for, like a small motel, things for officers and civilians who have just come into Greenland. And one of the people that I met there was a geologist, a civilian, and so I asked him, I said, well, what brought you up here? And he said, well, I am a geologist, and this is an international geophysical year. That is the year of Now, whether it was just the particular designation for the whole year of 1956 or just a 12-month period. Nevertheless, he was there and was doing experiments and tests out on the Greenland ice cap, which was about a 30-minute drive east of our air base. And so… I would visit with him as he would come in daily for about a week. And one day he came in and he said, we had a very interesting find today. While we were out, we were doing drills or taps down vertical into the Greenland ice cap. And he said, one of our findings today was we did a drill many hundreds of feet Down in directly down into the cap. And he said, then what we brought up, we brought up shards from palm trees. Now, you know, you wouldn’t have shards from palm trees unless the temperature had been such that it was tropical or subtropical. at some time, maybe hundreds, maybe thousands of years earlier. So this was an early introduction to that. Then later, I came across a book called 1421 that was written about 2002 by a British naval officer who had access through a very close friend of his in China to some of their archives. He was actually a submarine commander, but he worked very closely with this Chinese scholar and had access to some of the records that dated back to the era of the 1400s. He came across a map that showed Greenland that they had written. What had happened is in 1421, the Emperor of China had directed the commanders of his navies to go out and map the world, the navigable world. And one of the areas that was included turned out to be Greenland. And they had made a map of that was so close to what you would see today that it was amazing. But the only way they could have done it, they had to circumnavigate Greenland, which meant that the water up on the Arctic Ocean had to be open because they were traveling in one of those big Chinese junks, which is their big ships, and they’re all by sail. So they had to be able to sail around the North End in order to be able to complete their maps. And so when I read it, looked at the book and got all the information, I was convinced that what we were dealing with was cyclic type of change in temperatures and change in climatic conditions. But we’ve known this always. There’s a lot of reference to this in the Bible. So frequently they talked about, well, seven year cycle here and seven year cycle there. Now, these were for short term. But we also know from first and for those people, especially who watch the History Channel on television, there are many, many records that show that there have been tremendous variances all over the world. in climate. And all of this information was before we even talked about using carbon as a source of energy and carbon footprints. So none of this can be attributed to the contemporary concept that, yeah, these things are happening, and if we just quit using coal and oil and if we change this and change that, it will have a bearing on on worldwide climate and everything that relates to that. Well, it’s not really accurate. They fail to recognize history, and I’m looking at it from the historical standpoint, long range.

Well, absolutely. And as we were preparing for this, and we’ve had you on before, and again, thank you. I had the great honor to emcee your first event of Our American Lands. But you said that Sean has really been… On top of this, regarding the Stop the Dolores Monument, and then, of course, we’re seeing this conversation from the Biden administration that they want to, because of the Canadian links, limit access to thousands of acres in six states. So, Sean Pond, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 07 :
Good morning, Kim. Thanks for having me on.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, it’s good to have you. So, Sean, why don’t you set this up for us? There’s really several different things that are occurring. So what should people know first?
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, it’s a long, drawn-out story, and I’ll try to cover as much as I can quickly. But the Dolores Monument proposal popped into my existence in February of 2024. On February 20th, I started a petition to halt the Dolores Monument and honestly didn’t know a whole lot about these kind of issues, but I became averse quickly whether I liked it or not. So we started that petition. It gained a lot of traction, which created a lot of phone calls, emails from media outlets, from Congress, from Senate, and we quickly shed some national light on the issues of these federal land grabs and how it impacts local economies. And So here we are today. We’re, you know, what, 12 days from January 20th, and so far we haven’t had a national monument. So in my personal belief, I think that we’ve brought enough light to this federal land grab. I think we might beat it, and that’s started a whole new problem. So the environmental activists that originally proposed this 400,000-acre national monument said, have now teamed up with a few locals here in my area and proposed, in lieu of a national monument, a national conservation area. And they’re doing their very best to convince these people and the public that a national conservation area would be a good thing and a better alternative to a national monument. And the cases they’re stating are simply not true. The differences between a national conservation area and a national monument are and how they’re managed by the Bureau of Land Management are no different. They still pose the same road closures, trail closures. They close off access to natural resources and critical mineral extraction. And most importantly, they take liberty and freedom away from Americans.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so this had been out there, this Dolores Monument. Ultimately, it would have been a land grab. Now, was that all public land? Is there some private property in that as well, Sean, of this 400,000 acres?
SPEAKER 07 :
Kind of a two-part question. So it’s mostly Bureau of Land Management, and there is some Forest Service, and there is two large wilderness study areas that the boundary would encompass. it doesn’t take in and absorb any private property per se, but it surrounds an awful lot of public property and the private land ranches and where it doesn’t take it, it can, you know, eminent domain is a scary thing in our federal government with overreach and there’s, there’s property devaluation. There’s something called federal reserve water rights. Uh, there’s a whole rabbit hole to go down. So it’s, uh, it would be detrimental to these local communities, these legacy ranchers, cattle grazing allocations, the future of critical mineral extraction, and private property rights. These small rural towns in western Colorado, they depend on access to public land for logging, mining, ranching, and just outdoor recreation, just the ability to roam freely and enjoy freedom in this country.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and Josh Lowenstein, ultimately, it looks like the goal would be to limit human access to these lands. Is that correct?
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, that would be correct. And any of these proposals are serious as far as how they could limit the public’s access to the public ground. But the other thing is that from the point of view of being in opposition to these We can’t give an inch. We can’t compromise at all. And that’s unfortunately what Sean is running into with his area. And also it’s been an ongoing thing with a compromise here because in the Canales County conservation area proposal, there has been threats that come from the Senator Bennett’s representative in the area saying that if we don’t accept a National Conservation Area, we’re going to get a national monument, and it makes the people, the locals, in fear that they’re going to lose their permitted grazing ground and all of that. But the other thing about the compromises is it can lead directly into things that are actually worse than conservation areas and national monuments. It can lead towards wilderness designations, and even worse than that, it can lead to Should the natural asset companies get revived, it could allow Wall Street investors to buy public land, which could do all kinds of terrible closings and logging and unrestricted mining and things like that in areas that would have never otherwise been subject to it at all. So it could get worse. So our best bet is to stand strong against all of this stuff.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and Sean, I see that this could also really ultimately, you mentioned limit access to natural resources, but also you mentioned grazing, which ultimately that could affect our food sources. So it’s going to affect people in the urban centers and their lives. opportunity to buy abundant or have abundant food sources at an affordable price. Is that a stretch, or do you agree?
SPEAKER 07 :
No, you’re absolutely correct. And I can’t remember exactly now. I’ve done so much research in the past 11 months. But I believe there are 78 ranching families that have a total of 300 grazing allocations per and those are round numbers, within this proposed monument boundary we have over here. And of those, about 50%, if a monument or national conservation area or any restrictive government process was put on these lands that would affect the grazing allocation, they would go out of business. So you’re talking about legacy ranchers, you know, four- or five-generation ranching families that are no longer in business, and that does provide a direct chain directly to our food source for this country. Now, on the flip side of that, we have to be careful because the environmental activists, especially those in my area, and Josh has got the same exact problem, is they don’t tell the truth. They lead to these things by fear-mongering and spreading misinformation. So in this case, they will tell you, well, it won’t affect the cattle grazing allocations. And in fact, it’s a half-truth because it doesn’t – if a monument is created or a national conservation area or even a wilderness area, It doesn’t automatically mean that the grazing allocation goes away, but what happens is the roads are closed, accesses and trails are closed, and therefore the rancher can’t get into those areas to maintain ponds, to haul water to cattle in the winter months, to fix fences. So the grazing allocations become no longer economically feasible, and they’re not renewed. And I’ll give you an example of one over here on the western slope in Mesa County. It’s called the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area. It was created in 2007. It’s 278,000 acres, of which 66,000 acres is now a wilderness designation. When it was created, the rule book for the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area was some 40 pages deep. Today, as we speak… 90% of the roads in that National Conservation Area have been closed to the general public. They have created a no-shooting zone, so you can’t hunt that area. And they only allow paid camping in dispersed, regulated areas. And the rulebook as we speak today is 473 pages. And one of those rules tells a cattle rancher that before his cattle can enter the area, he has to decontaminate their hooves. So these are the type of restrictions the government comes down with. that affect all of us from whether it doesn’t matter if it’s oil and gas, logging, just motorized outdoor recreation, and especially ranchers. I mean, we’re talking about the people that feed America, and these type of government restrictions absolutely affect all of us from coast to coast.

And Sean, first of all, tell us, where was the Dolores Monument exactly? What was this area that they were trying to do this monument and now maybe a National Conservation Area?
SPEAKER 07 :
So the proposed Dolores Monument is along the Dolores River, and it’s a deceiving name because they call it the Dolores River Canyon National Monument Proposal and exists in western Colorado in Montrose and Mesa County. It’s really one of the last wild and free places in the state. It’s a beautiful area, and where they call it the Dolores River Canyon National Monument, the boundaries extend 50, 60 miles outside of the river. And it encompasses something called the Eurovan Mineral Belt. So while they call it the Dolores River Canyon National Monument proposal, it’s actually an anti-mining campaign. It would take in 90% of the largest and richest uranium reserve in the United States. So there’s a whole bunch of these environmental activist groups that come after for different reasons. This seemed to be a significant reason for this. But it basically runs, if you’re familiar with western Colorado, it’s everything from – a small town of Dub Creek, Colorado, up the entire Dolores River Canyon, stretching 60 miles outside of the canyon, all the way to the Utah state line. It would encompass towns of Paradox, Bedrock, Gateway, and the outlying towns of Nucla and Natterita, Colorado.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, so it seems, Sean, that the Biden administration is trying to fast-track so much of this before the old Biden-Harris administration leaves office. Will things change significantly when Trump is inaugurated?
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely. You know, when this thing started, every time that I spoke in public to the media on a show, a podcast, I always said the greatest defense that we had was changing this administration. This administration income in January 20th has an America First agenda, and it plans to put the American people and our industries first. So getting Joe Biden out of the White House and hiding his crayons and making sure he can’t execute these federal land grabs by abusing the Antiquities Act of 1906 is imperative. And I think the American people as a whole spoke across this country about And while Joe is like – I don’t know if people know this, but he created two national monuments this last week in California by abusing the Antiquities Act of 1906. So the threat is still real. We still have 12 days here to see if he will target this area. Word is he won’t, that we’ve had enough opposition to prevent that. And I think if he was, that Donald J. Trump and his administration would overturn it anyway. So I wanted to take one second to take that as a testament to people like myself and Josh Lowenstein, the organizations like Our American Lands, the Blue Ribbon Coalition. Standing up and standing our ground really can make a difference. The biggest problem that I’ve ran into is getting people involved. And I think if freedom-loving Americans across this country understand that land and liberty are deeply interwoven and that people will get up, speak up, and take a stand to preserve liberty and freedom, we have a real chance at changing this country, especially in the next two to four years under this administration.
SPEAKER 14 :
So, Josh, you are really staying on top of so many things. And another thing that has been is this designation for the Canadian links of thousands of acres. And there’s a commentary period on that. Bring us up to speed on that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, A, amen to what Sean just said. That was great. But B, on the Canadian links, I sent you the information to be able to put up on your website about the comment period, which ends on January 28th. But it is 5 million acres just in Colorado, 400,000 of which would be enveloped by this designation that is private property. And how that would affect it, they didn’t specify in any of their documentation so far. But it goes over six states, and it’s over 12 million acres that actually would be designated for the Canadian lynx. And in Colorado, which the lynx got introduced, what, 24 years ago about? And so far, they’re somewhere that they can count between 50 and 150 lynx in Colorado. and that they need, you know, 5 million acres. And, I mean, these areas are already protected by every kind of federal law there is and the designations related to mountain lions and the lynx and now these darn wolves that they’re introducing and the, you know, good Lord, when are they going to stop with all this stuff? You know, soon there’s going to be, you know, children being carted off. In fact, my friend Angel Cushing out in Kansas said that a coyote got a hold of a five-year-old kid and attacked it and started dragging it down a path that they were walking on. And, of course, it’s only a matter of time until, you know, it’s a wolf or a now-starved-out mountain lion that got run out of its food supply by the wolves that’s going to, you It’s only a matter of time with these silly designations. It’s crazy.
SPEAKER 14 :
All of it seems to be, thank you, Josh, all of this seems to be really anti-human flourishing. And we can be good stewards of our earth. and also coexist with nature and have human flourishing. But this is all very anti-human flourishing. And the last thing on this, Sean, though, is these environmentalists are not doing things to really take care of the land. Just hands off of the land, we see these intense forest fires. Of course, we’re seeing this fire in the Los Angeles area right now. And I think a lot of it’s because we don’t have proper management of our forests. If we no longer have cattle grazing on grassland, then we’ll have more intense fires. And so this is really anti-human flourishing, Sean Pond.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I’ll kind of comment on what Josh opened up with. The ultimate goal of all of these designations, restrictions, protected areas for wildlife habitat requirements, all go to one place, and it’s all driven by the United Nations 30 by 30 agenda. And if people think that that’s a hoax or a conspiracy theorist, I assure you it is not. A simple Google search will educate you. And the ultimate goal of the 30 by 30 is rewilding the West. It’s protecting 30% of all lands and all waters by the year 2030. Joe Biden called it the America the Beautiful Act. So like when these – I’m going to use an example of – the two national monuments that Joe Biden just created this week in California. He created something called Wildlife Corridors, which is a goal of the environmental activists and the ultra-left Green New Deal folks. He created a wildlife corridor by connecting all of the national monuments – well, all but one so far – in California all the way to the Bears Ears National Monument in Utah. Now, this is where my fight ties in. If they were able to create the Dolores National Monument or National Conservation Area, those would connect. So you’re talking about a wildlife corridor all the way from Southern California to Colorado. These wildlife corridors then create an environment with road closures, access restrictions, no drilling, no logging, no mining, and they now fit the definition for wilderness designations, which is always the ultimate goal. They want to rewild the West. They want all human activity off of these lands, whether that be oil and gas drilling or just us going for a ride on our side-by-side on a Sunday or taking your Jeep out with your family. They don’t want fossil fuels. They don’t want cattle ranchers. The ultimate goal is to combat climate change. They believe that if we don’t rewild the West, if we don’t save waters and lands, that we will have a global extinction event.

And then the other thing they’re trying to do, Joe, is force people into these urban corridors, into these apartments that are four- or five-story apartments, just little boxes, and they want everyday people to then ride around on trains or buses, bikes, or cars, and just basically be prisoners in these little, they call them, smart cities or 15-minute cities, trying to take away our freedom of mobility through limiting access to internal combustion engines. It’s all anti-human. And humans can coexist and be good stewards of our Earth. And that’s just really important to understand. And valuing humans is very important, I think, Producer Joe.

I definitely agree. And the other thing that I was kind of noticing was the limiting of resources that we can use. And now when they take the land and now people can’t use it for private organization of resources, now it has to be the government’s use of it. I don’t like that.

Yeah. And to limit logging, to limit resources, natural resources, development, limiting grazing. All these things are on the table. And that’s why it’s so important that we understand this. And thank you to Sean Pond. He was not involved in all of this until really, he said, February of 2024. And he has thousands of followers now. And he’s really made a difference. It could be an unpredictable or unaccountable act or event. Or it could be a sudden, sharp turn or twist, such as a quirk of the head. and there’s a lot of quirky things going on right now, I would say, with this Biden-Harris administration on their way out. One of the things, well, two things, is they want to limit our water heaters and make that more expensive for us to have hot water, and then also it’s more than quirky, I would say, this big land grab through these land… conservation easement designations or monument designations. And it’s more than quirky on that. So quote of the day, though, is from Ayn Rand. She was born in 1905, died in 1982, the author of Atlas Shrugged. And she said, the essential characteristic of socialism is the denial of individual property rights. So as we are getting ready with this Colorado State Legislature, which is convening today, anything that will be limiting or denying individual property rights is moving us towards socialism. And so that’s why the work that the Colorado Union of Taxpayers is doing is so important. and we would love to have you join us. And, uh, uh, property rights, homeownership has been a great way for people to create wealth, um, be able to live the lives that they want to live. And, um, uh, the cost of money interest rates has, has gone up significantly. Um, and where, where are we at on that? Is the cost of money still going to be right around these levels or what do you see?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah. I mean, for right now, it seems like it’s going to be that way for a little bit. Um, I was just looking before I came on with you and the 10-year treasury just crossed 4.70. So it’s like a 472, which is the highest it’s been since April of 24. So in the last, you know, notice that nine months. So that means mortgage rates are back kind of where they were spring of 24. So we’re in a situation here where, you know, we’re back to what you and I have been talking about for a long time, where people really need to be prepared. They need to get pre-qualified if they want to move. People are moving. People are coming to Colorado. People are relocating, but they just need to be prepared and make sure that they’re pre-qualified and that they’re aware of where the rates are at the time and make sure that everything works financially for them at that point. And then hope that, you know, in the next, However long, if and when rates do come down, we could help them get to a lower payment.
SPEAKER 14 :
And so the key, you say marry the house and date the rate. And, of course, I think right now with all of this spending of the Biden administration on their way out, we have way too much debt here, national debt. And so the cost of money probably is going to stay around these levels for a little while, yes?
SPEAKER 20 :
And it’s difficult because, you know, just the way we’re set up, we have different branches of the government, right? And they’re supposed to check and balance each other. It’s not really – it’s hard to do right now. And so you’ve got the Fed trying to control inflation and rein it in and hit this 2% number. But then when there’s a lot of money going out from another branch, it makes it difficult. So, you know, the Fed, like you and I talk about, is data-driven, and they’re looking at the numbers, and the numbers – aren’t forcing them to lower rates right now, which we were all hoping for. They did do it once or twice. We were hoping for several times in 2025, but they’ve said they may have to back off some of those cuts just to avoid a return of inflation from where we had it before. I got gas yesterday, and gas was down quite a bit, which was nice to see. But other things are being stingy and stubborn as far as coming down, as far as grocery store items and things like that. So it’s taking longer than they had thought. And I think the biggest fear is that it might go back up. And so the Fed is thinking they might have to stay for a little while longer with these higher rates, which is hurting people that want to take money out of their home or purchase new homes.
SPEAKER 14 :
Mm hmm. So that’s why. So but we will see adjustments in there’ll be creative mortgage products as well as probably adjustments on prices of homes. And so there will always be opportunity. The key is, is to be informed, to be ready to go. And so that’s why people should give you a call. Lauren Levy, what is that number? What’s the best way to reach you?

And because there is opportunity out there. And sometimes when it seems difficult, of course, they say with the stock market, Lauren, to buy low, sell high. But human nature sometimes does the opposite. When it seems like there’s a lot of uncertainty, there can also be opportunity. But again, it’s important to be informed, to work with real professionals. And that’s where I think you can take advantage of opportunities there. So, again, Lorne, your final thought on this.

I agree with you. I was just having a conversation with another mortgage person yesterday that we might see some more creative products coming out soon because banks are in business to make loans. And when loans slow down, they find ways to create new products that are good for people. So we might see some of that as well. And, boy, the people that feed and fuel us, their industry is so under attack, but what that ultimately means is for people that live in the urban corridors to that reliable energy, affordable energy, affordable and abundant food sources, all of that is under attack. And it’s because of the elites that control the United Nations, the globalist elites. That’s the agenda there. And in the first hour… Trent, we had Josh Lowenstein, the founder of Our American Lands on, and then Sean Pond, who is the, we’ve got a little static there, I don’t know what’s happening here, we may have to check on that. Sean Pond, who was the founder of Stop the Dolores Monument, looks like that may, the monument designation may not go through, but now you’ve got the activists talking about National Conservation Area, And we’re connecting these dots on the Biden-Harris administration and this whole agenda to limit access of humans to our land, our property rights, our public lands. And you’re all over this. You’re going to have an event this Sunday in Akron, Colorado on Stand for Property Rights, correct?
SPEAKER 08 :
I am participating in the event. I’m not organizing the event. The folks of Washington County, Colorado in Akron are going to have this event from 2 to 5 p.m. in the afternoon. And Chuck Miller will be with me from Brush, Colorado. He’s been on top of property rights as long as anybody in Colorado. And so Northeast Colorado, really not exclusive to Northeast, but the eastern half is under attack like so many other places. But I don’t know if you heard, there is a new rule that went into effect the same day as the Colorado free range, cage-free rule went into effect, January 1st, 2025. So I think what’s happening in Ottawa, Canada is going to fix all of these climate change problems, Kim. I don’t know if you heard about it.
SPEAKER 14 :
What is that exactly?
SPEAKER 08 :
The city of Ottawa, which is the nation’s capital of Canada, put in place a new law that you cannot idle your vehicle for more than 60 seconds before it moves. And they’re doing this to prevent climate change. So it appears to me that once everybody in Ottawa is not idling their vehicles anymore before they move, all of these problems that we thought we had will be gone.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, there are different areas that already have this non-idling thing.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, Colorado has a non-idling rule, too. Yes, you’re right. You cannot idle your vehicle for more than five minutes in Colorado.
SPEAKER 14 :
but what happened so i was up in wyoming in the jackson area this was a few years ago and jackson course it’s beautiful there but they are the boulder of wyoming and uh… there is uh… a rule of you can’t idle is sitting your car in idling it’s cold up there so let’s say that you’re waiting for the kids serve for something or or just waiting for somebody to come out of a grocery store whatever They say that you can’t stay warm, basically, that you can’t idle your car. This is Crazyville.
SPEAKER 08 :
So there’s 31 states. I’ve been on this this week. There’s 31 states that have an idling law in the United States. I don’t know anybody that ever enforces it. But most of those states have a provision that I went and read through a report of each one of them, have a provision that if it’s under 32 degrees, you are allowed to be in that for an extended period of time. But the mere fact, and I was trying to be funny with the Canadian thing, because all other states claim that they made this initiative, which, by the way, North Dakota did it in 1940. That’s how long ago this went into place.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, my gosh.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER 14 :
In North Dakota.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes. And they said that it was to protect from theft of these vehicles. I don’t need the government to tell me how to protect my vehicle or my property from theft. It’s absolutely asinine. But in Ottawa, Canada, unlike the 31 states in the United States, they made this initiative to protect. prevent climate change and to reduce emissions. So I went, look, guess how many, what percentage of the emissions of the world are generated from the entire country of Canada, not just Ottawa?
SPEAKER 1 :

You’re very close.
SPEAKER 1 :
1.6%.
SPEAKER 08 :
1.6% of all emissions in the world come from the country of Canada and And Ottawa somehow is trying to convince people that by reducing idling to less than 60 seconds, we’re going to put a check on climate change and emissions. That’s how ridiculous this whole thing has gotten. By the way, no more ridiculous than the state convening and saying we’re going to put in place an idling law so your vehicle is not stolen from you. I don’t need that.
SPEAKER 14 :
Wow. So I have a question for you. I’ve always wondered this. The newer models that will basically turn off at a stoplight or a stop sign and then restart, that seems to me like that could ultimately become a problem. a problem as the vehicle gets older, if it stops and starts? And I never really have asked anybody about this. I should probably ask Lauren Fix, too. But what’s your thoughts on these new vehicles that turn off kind of at the stoplight?
SPEAKER 08 :
So I don’t have anything like that, nor would I. I’ll hitch up a horse to a buggy before I own a vehicle like that. And I have been in vehicles like that, and it happens at a stop sign and turns off, and I’m like, I’m getting out. This is not safe. This is ridiculous. Who would drive a vehicle that shuts off at a stop sign? It’s going to be cause for a major concern.
SPEAKER 14 :
But, like, I think almost all the new vehicles do do that, don’t they?
SPEAKER 08 :
I don’t know the answer to that.
SPEAKER 14 :
I don’t know the answer to that either. But I thought that really what this is is a messaging thing, again, from the global elites. They’re making car manufacturers do this. Of course, it probably makes the car more expensive to have to do that as well. And so this whole idling thing is just, it’s every which way. You can’t idle in your car. Now Joe Biden wants to limit water heaters. What do you think about that?
SPEAKER 08 :
I think that Joe Biden is going to find a way to try to irritate and create chaos in any way, shape, or form in the next three weeks that he can think of. You know, the same day as he talked about – well, he wrote an executive order, didn’t he, to ban water heaters?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, at least 40 percent of them, yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
He gives two of the world’s most known criminals medals of freedom. All of that is simply to bait people into chaos. And executive orders need to go away. They’re not constitutional. We need Donald Trump, if he becomes president, to do one executive order to make sure that no more executive orders ever take place because they’re not constitutional and to eliminate every executive order that ever happened.
SPEAKER 14 :
Wow. Yeah. Yeah, that would pretty well take care of it, wouldn’t it?
SPEAKER 08 :
It would. That would solve so many problems.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. So when Sean Pond was on in the first hour, he was talking about – and I’ve seen all these different headlines of national monuments, conservation easements. He said that there was something that happened in California, which was connecting all of the – now I can’t remember exactly, but like the national – Parks or whatever, connecting them all the way to through Utah, which would make them like a wildlife corridor, which would ultimately be hands off for humans. It’s pretty, pretty aggressive what this Biden Harris administration is doing on their way out the door, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, no doubt about it. I do have a bit of good news. I’ll call it good news. You know, the Colorado Parks is going to release another 10 to now they’re saying maybe 15. Originally, they were going to release 10 wolves every year for five years. Now they’re saying they’re going to release 10 to 15 wolves for this year in Colorado. But there are three producers who have filed for a $581,000 predation bill. lawsuit against them that’s what the money they have available but there are some significant losses for ranchers and that doesn’t take into consideration the stress induced by wolf being present with this livestock so kudos to these three ranchers who are trying to take a stand and at least recapture some of what they lost
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, and we’re going to have Bonnie Brown on, I think, on Friday with the Colorado Wool Growers Association to talk about the wolves as well. But this is ultimately an assault upon our food sources. And we have taken for granted. abundant and affordable food sources at our grocery stores. And of course, with the government-induced inflation, the cost at the grocery store has gone up significantly. All of these things are connected. That’s why the work that Trent Luce is doing is so important. shedding light on this, on the people that feed and fuel us and the attack upon them, which is ultimately an attack upon our way of life. I think that artificial intelligence is going to eliminate humanity if we allow it to continue.

yeah and so we need and i i remember trent when i was on city council so this was 2012 to 2016 and i was still connecting the dots and there was this big meeting i can’t remember it was a luncheon meeting of course taxpayers paid for all of these electeds and and staff to go to the meeting and i think it was obama’s Secretary of Transportation that presented again are close to this. This was a while ago, but they were talking about the benefit of self-driving cars. And again, there was probably three, four hundred people in the room talking. So I finally raised my hand and said, I’m a little concerned about these self-driving cars because I love my computer and I love technology, but sometimes it doesn’t work. And I don’t really want to be going down the road at 65 miles an hour and have some kind of glitch with the computer. And Trent, you could have heard a pin drop. And then afterwards, I had several people that came up and said, you said the thing that nobody was willing to say. But they have been pushing this for quite some time, Trent.
SPEAKER 08 :
So most of the issues that I work on. are tied to the removal of what you talked about in the early segment and what we’re going to do in Washington County on Sunday this week, which is the removal of property rights. Fundamental property rights are tied to liberty and freedom, and it’s the very theme of the Constitution. And as I see, whether you want to talk about transmission lines, you want to talk about CRP, you want to talk about government payments, cage-free egg law that’s now in place in Colorado. All of those are hurdles to food production, which make it tougher. And the number one hurdle, by the way, is property tax. The ability to continue to afford to pay the property tax to keep something that you think you own, and yet you have to pay to own it each year. Makes no sense whatsoever. And if you do the math on all of that, you come up with a summation is that they don’t want people to own property. And I was speaking in Bismarck two weeks, three weeks ago, and I was talking about all of these challenges. And John Deere, you and I have talked about, is at the heart of every one of these challenges. They’re funding these challenges. They’re doing all kinds of things that are anti-farm, anti-property rights, anti-liberty. And they’re working in conjunction with the government to do this. And when I got done speaking at this meeting in Bismarck, a guy came up to me and he said, Trent, I got to tell you this story. He said, I haven’t told anybody because it just was too crazy to believe at the time. But he said it was early 90s. I don’t remember where the meeting was or when the meeting. And I just remember being at this meeting and the executive from John Deere was speaking and somebody asked him a question about what does he see in the future? He said, I see where farms will be owned by the government and we will have autonomous equipment farming all of the land.
SPEAKER 14 :
Wow.
SPEAKER 08 :
And he said, everybody just was like, oh, that’s funny. And everybody laughed in the early 90s. They’re like, yeah, whatever. That’s a funny joke. That’s no longer a joke. Because everything that we see taking shape is pushing people from the land and that we have a few corporate interests that believe in conjunction with it. And that brings me back to the Sustains Act, which went into play in 2024, which is about the continued development of the public-private partnership between government entities and private entities, typically nongovernmental organizations, NGOs. But, Kim, everything that we’re moving to is complete control by the state and elimination of the people who have the skills to take care of problems.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. And ultimately, farmers and ranchers, they care about the land. They are providing food to feed America and the world. And this is so, so under attack. And there’s a lot coming in on the text line. But this came in from Susan. She said she watched your podcast with the Ag Commissioner in Colorado. And we just republished my podcast. essay that I wrote in 23 regarding the cage-free eggs, cage-free hens, and selling cage-free eggs here in Colorado, and the price has gone up significantly. Tell me a little bit about this podcast with the Egg Commissioner.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, it’s actually the Executive Director of Colorado Egg Producers Association, Bill Scabby, and Bill lives in Brighton and represents the Egg egg producers of the state of Colorado. It was a great conversation. And he made it very clear that the direct impact of the cost of eggs in Colorado retail right now is a result of what the USDA is doing with control of avian influenza. And point blank, the birds that they’re killing is reducing the supply of eggs Bill doesn’t want to give as much credit, I’ll use the word credit, to the cage-free egg law that went into effect because, to his point, the millions and billions of dollars that the Colorado egg farms have invested in going cage-free, you know, somebody called him. He made this point, I think it’s a very valid point. Somebody called him and said, it was a legislator, called him and said, you want me to just enact a new bill to turn this around? He said, no. Really, we want government out of this situation. We want the farmers to be able to produce what the consumer wants and is willing to pay for. And at this point, all of these egg producers in Colorado have made these million-dollar investments. Causing them to do something else would only create more financial hardship. And who pays the price every time there’s financial hardship? The consumer. And so it just speaks to More government intervention leads to all of these challenges. But he’s quite content with where it’s at now. Just keep government out of more in the future, which that’s a pipe dream, we know. But we can all hope.
SPEAKER 14 :
The piece that I had done initially in 23, the place where I buy eggs had gone from $2.99 a dozen to $6.99. This was before the avian bird flu thing. This was as we were starting to have these regulations go through. Now the eggs are $8.99 a dozen. And one of our listeners said that she was talking with someone and they attribute all of that increase in egg prices to the avian bird flu. And you and I have had conversations on it. And that is that they are killing healthy birds. Millions of birds have been killed. And many of them are healthy birds. So now let’s think about this, Trent. Let’s try to connect this dot. We have those that put in this cage-free egg law because they said they care about chickens, that they want to have certain square footage, that they want to have dry dust baths, dust bath areas, certain nesting things, because they care about chickens. But my gosh, if you have an avian bird flu and a chicken test for that, test positive for that, they kill them all. That doesn’t seem like they care about chickens at all. I think it’s more about the food source.
SPEAKER 08 :
What do you think? I agree with you. It’s very complex. It’s not simple. But last year, the government, USDA, euthanized 60 million chickens. That would be a combination of not just egg-laying birds. It would be broilers, egg layers, and turkeys. And I’ve long had an issue with their approach and their protocol in eliminating the entire flock. There could be some positive birds in one barn, and they’ll eliminate every barn that’s at that location. It flies in the face of what we do in terms of animal stewardship and From day one, we identify sick animals, we isolate them, get them away from the rest of the population, and we move on. And so there’s just a tremendous amount of questions that should be asked about how the USDA continues to administer this protocol. And it’s going to get worse because, I don’t know if you heard this or not, but they are claiming, I believe it was a gentleman in Louisiana, Mississippi or Louisiana, that the first death attributed to avian flu, H5N1. Now, I don’t know what the guy really died from. I don’t know. Apparently there was a guy that died. But what I am telling you is that they are rolling out the red carpet to make avian influenza the next pandemic. And we need to remain rooted in what the true science behind it is. And eliminating the entire flock because of one positive is not science.
SPEAKER 14 :
Right. And what that is also doing, it’s eliminating birds that may have natural immunity, which will make the flock stronger as well. So as you say, you get rid of the sick birds, but you don’t kill all of them. That doesn’t seem like that’s very compassionate to kill all of the birds. And so we’ll continue. And the other thing is, Trent Luce, I was talking with someone about the price of eggs.
SPEAKER 08 :
Just before you go to that, I want to be very clear that that it’s the United States Department of Agriculture that has this protocol, not the Colorado State vet, not the producers. It is the USDA that has that protocol. I just didn’t want anybody to be confused on that. Sorry to interrupt.
SPEAKER 14 :
Not a problem. Thank you for that clarification. And now, of course, I forgot my important thought.
SPEAKER 08 :
You were going to go with price of eggs again. Oh, the price of eggs. There is no doubt that when you move to cage-free environment, you’re going to increase the cost of eggs. They’re going to cost you more. And that happened because of a few loud people. And this is the fight that I’ve been in. from day one when I started doing broadcasts, is making sure that the farmer decides what is best for the animals. In this situation, and what Colorado is now faced with on farms, because the consumer, not the consumer, a few loud people said, we want these chickens to be in a better environment. The mortality rate of a cage-free hen is extremely higher compared to chickens in a cage. Chickens were put in a cage for a number of reasons. Number one, protection. Protection from other chickens. The pecking order is something that is a real situation. And if you look at the data, because of my conversation with Bill, I wrote my column about this week. If you look at the egg production nationwide, across the board, in 2024, we have achieved a chicken laying 300 eggs a year. That’s double what they did 20 years ago. And we accomplished that by understanding light, because all of the barnyard chickens that are in my area right now, my in-laws and other people that I know, their hens aren’t laying anything. My mother-in-law got one egg two days ago. It’s because they’re dealing with the light and the cold temperatures. Chickens in a barn are protected from all of these things, and they’re laying 300 eggs a year because they have eliminated the stresses. And now by putting them in a cage-free environment, you’re increasing this level of stress for these chickens, and you’re going to see the performance actually go down because of what people perceive to be a better way for the chicken instead of asking the farmer what’s working best.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, and that is so important. Ask the experts on this. And when I say experts, I mean real experts, not the scientific experts that we’ve had in all of these different, quote, in so many different articles. Good morning, Kim. I just got a couple of quick points. First one would be if the judge claims that Joe Biden is not competent to stand for prosecution on his records that he was hiding in his garage, how can he be competent to sign executive orders? How can they have it both ways? He’s not competent and he is competent. Second point would be, have you heard about Polis’s sun train? No. Okay, this one is really good. They’re going to put batteries on a train and haul it to Pueblo, charge it up from all the solar panels, and then bring it back up to Denver and put it on the grid in Denver. My question would be, why don’t we put the solar panels in Polis’s backyard so that, you know, he can have electricity up here? It’s, you know, it’s And then I think those trains still run on diesel. And so the other thing is they’re going to have to rent the tracks from Burlington Northern. So they got they can do this because they got another government grant. So those are the two things that maybe you’d kick around also.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, my gosh. The Sun train. Yes. On diesel powered trains. Super interesting. Trent, your thoughts?
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, that’s about as wise as Ottawa putting in place a law to stop idling vehicles for more than a minute because it causes climate change. We’ve got to have accountability. We have to have enough people stand up and say, we are tired of this. We are going to take matters in our own hands, and we’re going to get rid of you. Through elections, by the way, is what I’m talking about. Elections and accountability. I mean, we have people conducting treasonous activity in the name of government at every level.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, we do.
SPEAKER 08 :
Treason is a violation of our statute. It’s a statute and a violation of our constitutions.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah. Yeah. So we’ve got a lot coming in on the text line here too, Trent. So I’m going to ask you this one. And it says, how did we allow the government to decide that we have to destroy an entire flock of birds when one bird is sick? And how can we turn that around? To have 60 million fowl destroyed is beyond ludicrous. Think of all the people that that would feed. Good point. Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Absolutely. It is ludicrous. And again, I come back to the same question. When are we going to hold them accountable to what they are doing? I do have one success story that I want to share, though, and I don’t want to run out of time. So one year ago this week, I was in Pennsylvania. I was at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, and I remember getting on a plane in Harrisburg and learning as I got on the plane that Amos Miller, a local Amish farmer, had been arrested again. He was running a PMA, Private Merchandise Association, where he was selling raw milk and products from his farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to people. His farm was raided, products were taken, and he had been basically arrested for violating food safety laws. This week, a judge has said that Amos Miller… of Lancaster County has been authorized to continue his farming operations and protracted the legal battle in which the state and federal authorities cannot touch this guy. So that’s pretty huge. This is big news, and it is a significant win. And I wanted to share a win because far too many times we talk about sun trains and stupid things that just make no sense whatsoever. Here’s a success story. And I truly believe that private merchandising associations, PMAs, are a vital part of our future in food and fuel, to be honest, but particularly in food.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. Next thing, a good point. Well, it says we don’t eliminate all the people who come down with some sort of a virus to protect the rest of the society. In fact, that’s how we build immunity. So good point. Again, this whole chicken thing is just pretty darn crazy. Let’s see here. Oh, gosh. Shh. This was from a listener. It said, the British TV show Clarkson’s Farm shows the future of farming in America. The government controls all aspects of farming operations via regulations. I would imagine that farming is probably not as efficient now in Britain, correct?
SPEAKER 08 :
Jeremy Clarkson does a great job. I don’t know him personally, but I know people that know him. And he has brought the real world of agriculture to many viewers in Europe and throughout all of Britain. The premise that we’re not as efficient, that is the one thing. And if we truly want to improve the environment, that’s our continued goal is to produce more with less. Use fewer resources more. to generate more of the essentials. That is our inherent desire every single day.
