SPEAKER 01 :
At age 10, Father Andre escaped Christian massacres by living in caves in Mount Lebanon with his family. Today, Father Andre works tirelessly to encourage American leaders to keep God in the public square, defending religious freedom at home and abroad, so that all might live in peace for the glory of God. Founder and president of the Mission of Hope and Mercy, Father Andre has learned the secret to safety, joy, and peace. Love God and one another. Now, let us spend 33 minutes on the Lord’s Day, retuning ourselves to the truth of love in the hands of God.
SPEAKER 04 :
Praise be the most holy name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, now and forever and ever. Amen. We say in Latin, Send. Your spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth. My friends, one of my favorite, favorite feast days. I know we love Christmas. I know we love Easter. I know we love feast days like in the Catholic Church that are dear to our cultural heritage. life as well, like Our Lady of Guadalupe for Hispanic people and for Americans, you know, like the feast of Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception on December 8th. I know we love many feast days in the Middle East also for particular saints. But the feast day of the Holy Spirit is today. This is Sunday, the feast of the Holy Spirit. This is Pentecost. We are 50 days after Easter. We are at this day in which the Virgin Mary and the apostles who were locked for nine days in the upper room of Jerusalem, just like a conclave. And for our listeners on Good Sunday Morning with Father Andre on KNUS and 43 Minutes with the Lord every Sunday on KLZ, I want to greet you. Our homes, our churches, our places of worship, whether at work or at rest, whether you are traveling and whether you’re driving, as I heard many of my friends and parishioners who are driving, they were listening actually to the show this past Sunday. Remember now, all of us on this Sunday, the whole world is a conclave. And, you know, conclave, as you know, it’s time when cardinals usually need to elect a new pope. And we have had this beautiful experience over probably two months ago when a new pope was elected, or less than two months ago, for the Catholic Church. You saw the cardinals coming together, and they sat, and they closed all the rooms, and they basically did not allow any cell phones to break through, and all of that. And they stayed in the meetings until on the third day they elected a pope. We call this conclave, with keys. With keys, meaning they go into a room, lock that room, and then they don’t get out, not until God speaks. And when God speaks, it means they elected a pope. But where did this come from? Well, one of the forums, the most cherished forums in the church, is those nine days when Jesus, after 40 days to his resurrection, he went up to heaven, right? He ascended into heaven. And we call this Ascension Birthday. On the 40th day, Jesus will tell his disciples, hey, stay in that room. Stay where I told you to stay. Do not move from there until I ask my father to send you the Paracletus. And what is the Paracletus? The Paracletus or the Spirit of the Lord, who’s going to come and who’s going to support the apostles, who’s going to come and who’s going to dwell on the heads of the apostles, basically in the form of tongues of fire, as we know, heard from some. This is what we call the ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into heaven, both in body and soul. So what happened at that time? You know, the gospel tells us… As far as Bethany and raises his hands, you know, and then Jesus approached… All power in heaven and earth is given to me. Hello, Madame Germaine. Bonjour. Bonjour et bonsoir du Congo. We have a guest with us from Congo. Madame Germaine, nous sommes en train de parler. On a commencé le show. Alors, on vous écoute, on vous entend. Peut-être dans quelques minutes, on peut commencer à parler avec vous. I want to welcome Madame Germaine from Congo, from Tinshasa. And I want to welcome Gerard with us also on the radio. We are speaking about the ascension of our Lord. And today, as we are… celebrating the Pentecost Sunday, the coming of the Holy Spirit, We said how Jesus in the gospel, when he ascended into heaven, he told his disciples, go to the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature and to baptize and to teach him what he came meant. But he also told them after, before he was lifted up on a cloud, he told them, remain in Jerusalem, remain in this room until I send you the spirit. And of course, the descent of the Holy Spirit. Now, you know, the Holy Spirit is a parakletos. So the defender, the consoler, The one who said and who acts in us the wisdom of God and the love of God. You know, the Holy Spirit is revealed in the mystery of the Pentecost. But we have moments with the Holy Spirit that we have seen across the Bible. The very first moment, for instance, if you look in the book of Genesis chapter 1, you know, when God created heaven and earth, everything was formless and shapeless. It was almost chaotic. There was no form, no shape. But then there was darkness that covered the face of the abyss. We say in the Aramaic language, in Hebrew language, we say, And the darkness covered, was hovering over the abyss. But then the Bible tells us in the same chapter 1, probably verse 1 and true from the book of Genesis. And the spirit, the wind of the Lord was hovering or hovered on the face of the water. Well, we know the Spirit of the Lord creates the movement. But then also, let’s go to the New Testament. And then when the angel appeared to the Virgin Mary, right? When the angel appeared to the Virgin Mary in the… Probably the Gospel of Luke, and when we pray in the Joyful Mysteries, we say there is an annunciation, right? The mystery of the annunciation to the Virgin Mary. And if you read on the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, verse 26 and 27, you know when Gabriel was sent to the Virgin Mary in Nazareth, And he told her, hey, favorite one, the Lord is with you. And then he announces to her, of course, that you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive a new moon and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give him the throne of David, his father. And you will rule over the house of Jacob forever. And his kingdom will have no end. And then the Virgin Mary tell him, what can this be? And I have no man. I do not know man. And of course, the angel tell her, the Holy Spirit will come upon you. And the power of the Most High will overshadow me. Therefore, the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. You know, in this verse of the Gospel of St. Luke, chapter 1, verse 35, we see the full revelation of the Holy Trinity. This is why this feast day of the Pentecost Sunday means a lot. The Holy Spirit did not only cover the face of the water, and all creation. And in one of the Psalms, I believe, 147 or 47, we say, Send your Holy Spirit, send forth your Spirit, and it shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth. The Spirit renews the entire earth. but also the Spirit dwelled upon the Virgin Mary, the Father in heaven, the power of the Most High overshadowed her, and the one who was born from the virgin womb is the Holy, the Son of God. In all of this, we see now the Holy Spirit hovering on the actual apostles, and as they were locked in in the upper room of Jerusalem, when the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, according to the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. That’s the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to us with gifts. The Holy Spirit comes to us with the fruits. The Holy Spirit comes to us with life, renewal. Everything is manifested in the world. And also the Holy Spirit that He describes tells us this is the Spirit of the Father, the Consoling Spirit. Today, we are happy, my dearly beloved brothers and sisters, on this 50th day that we are celebrating the feast day of the Holy Spirit, the feast day of the Holy Spirit of understanding, the fear of the law, the good counsel, the courage, the knowledge, the fortitude, the piety. This is the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit that enables us to call Abba, Father. In our recent shows, as we said earlier a few weeks back when we started this beautiful radio show, I said we’re going to begin with a new theme. And the new theme is we’re going to go into the mind of Jesus Christ. We said that we will be talking about the mind of Christ and our mind as a human being. But also at the same time, the corruption of evil that tried to put in basically a confusion between the mind of Christ and our free will as human beings. And I defined that being the spirit of the world. Today in the world, we see many problems. We see many issues prompted in the world by confusion, by lies. You know, We live in Denver when Hope Jumple II in 1993, I believe, came to Denver, Colorado on August, basically 12 to August 15 for the World Youth Day. And he spoke about the culture of death and he spoke about civilization of life. He said, humanity is more and more endangered because actually it doesn’t tell the truth. It doesn’t abide in the truth. It doesn’t live in the truth. And lies, in fact, can affect the safety. So we do have a national security problem on earth today in the world. That is lies. And who is the father of lies? Satan. And he is a deceiver. He is a liar. Jesus calls him the father of lies. That’s why we as Christians, we have an obligation. We have a sacred duty to soldier up our world and favor Jesus Christ. And to start speaking the mind of Christ. To stand up against the spirit of the world. And this is how we will be in an utmost beautiful way utilizing our free will as a human. because we will be speaking truth. When we speak truth, the sun rises. When we speak truth, the sun sets on time. When we speak truth, we save lives. When we speak truth, people and the world will experience the joy, will experience the pardon, will experience the security in their own personal life. With us on the phone, from Kinshasa, from Congo, we have a beautiful lady, a collaborator and friend for the mission of Roque Amigosi. Who, in her own way, Madame Germaine, bonjour et je vous salue en ce dimanche du Pentecost. Je vous souhaite une bonne soirée à vous et je dis bonsoir. Comment allez-vous?
SPEAKER 05 :
Bonsoir. Merci pareillement. Je vais bien.
SPEAKER 04 :
Thank you, Father Andre. I am doing well. Madame Germaine. Oui, Padre. Les chrétiens en Afrique, ce sont des chrétiens particuliers. Ce sont des chrétiens qui ont le pouvoir, l’autorité de la joie. C’est quoi l’Esprit Saint pour vous? Pour moi?
SPEAKER 05 :
Oui, oui. Pour moi, l’Esprit Saint…
SPEAKER 04 :
that the Christians in Africa have a spirit of joy in them. You know, they face death. They face their persecutors. They face them with dances. They face them with worship. They face them with the blessed dupes. They face them with the proclamation of the gospel. So I’m asking Madame Germaine to refine, to express to us, who is the Holy Spirit for them in Africa? Allez, Madame Germaine, la réponse est pour vous.
SPEAKER 05 :
Pour moi, le Saint-Esprit, c’est le guide, c’est le paraclet, et c’est le consolateur. Holy Spirit, it’s really difficult and complicated to accomplish our mission and to accomplish our daily tasks. You know what it means? At every moment, at every moment, we must implore the fullness of the Holy Spirit
SPEAKER 04 :
Our life as Christians, to save us is of the trouble. This is where the Holy Spirit is for us. I thank you for this beautiful spiritual answer. Do you see me as we speak? Can you see me? I’m just trying to wave at you. Can you see me? Yes, yes. So, I have some questions to ask you about the community in Congo. And I’m very sorry. I know that a few days ago, the U.S. administration and President Trump issued a ban not allowing any travels from certain countries, including from Congo. You know, a few days ago, the American president launched… Why are we so afraid? What is the situation in Congo? Can you please speak to us about the context and the justification of the problem? Yes, Padre. Hello? Yes, we are listening.
SPEAKER 05 :
The humanitarian and security situation in RDC currently, there has been a great crisis. That is to say, a crisis that is complex, a crisis that is multidimensional, multisitorial. And this crisis is characterized by recurring armed conflicts and also intercommunal conflicts. And these different conflicts lead to a large number of internal movements, especially in the provinces of North and South Kivu. They denigrate the armed conflicts following the M23, FCM23, and to that also add intercommunal conflicts in the province of Tchopo, the province of Tanganyika, and also in the province of Grand Bandung, that is to say the province of Maindonde and Kwan. And this crisis has devastated… And this crisis has devastated… Many organizations, even the Congolese state, even humanitarian organizations, are in trouble.
SPEAKER 04 :
à répondre à cette crise. 2024 data, more than 25 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance, including 7.2 million internally displaced people and thousands of refugees in neighboring countries. I am asking Madame Germaine from Kinshasa, Congo, who is a collaborator and a friend of the Mission of Hope and Mercy, how despite this executions and the millions of the people under danger and the millions of children actually under danger and in famine and execution and mass murders, how are they able to live and express their faith in Jesus Christ? This is my question to Madame Germaine. Madame Germain, the answer is for you.
SPEAKER 05 :
For us Africans, we have a faith that is really, I don’t know, immeasurable. That’s really, for us Africans, and in particular the Congo. For example, you are in Kinshasa,
SPEAKER 04 :
Particular.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes. Et ce peuple, il espère qu’un jour, il y aura la paix, il y aura la restauration de la paix durable en RDC.
SPEAKER 04 :
And we reiterate our life in Congo every day. We pray until the day we will see a peace. So your prayer has a very special meaning. It’s a prayer for peace. It’s a prayer for peace. What is peace? What is peace? I am asking Mrs. Germaine, what is a peace now for a Congo people? What is a peace at this time and there?
SPEAKER 05 :
For the Congolese who are far away, for them, peace is first and foremost stability. Stability, security. It’s because when there is peace, at that moment, there is the possibility of putting in place all the development mechanisms, all the development mechanisms. And it is also the same for the Congolese who are in the West. For example, I am in the East. We do not feel at peace with everything that is happening on the other side. Even in the East, even in the West. For example, you take in the West, the province of Kwangu and the province of Maindombe. There are also intercommunal confines. And all that affects us.
SPEAKER 04 :
and respond to it for us as people from Congo and our community.
SPEAKER 05 :
If there is peace, for what is the development of our country? And if today the RDC is in peace, I will refer you to the map of Africa. The RDC is located in the center If we can make a good and positive Christian impact in a sanitary of Africa and all over Africa.
SPEAKER 04 :
This is very significant. This means to us this one. My friends, what I’d like us to do at this point, for the spirit, for the Holy Spirit in Congress, for the Holy Spirit in Africa, for the Holy Spirit here in America, for us at LERN, Let us pray. Because in a few minutes, our friends will come, okay? And you ask on Good Sunday morning, on the… will believe in us, and knowing that the man of Christ wants a peace for us, knowing that the man of Christ wants to save us, knowing that the man of Christ wants to give us his man, like the African people, like Christianity in Africa, we will meet our oppressors with hymns of praise and thanksgiving. We will get baptized. You can test our faith. And we profess to you as Lord and Savior. So in this moment, let us pray for the Holy Spirit to bless us. Come, Holy Spirit, come, and come to celestial home. Shed a way of light divine. Come, Father of the poor, one source of all our store. Come, within our bosom shine. You are comforters, the best step. You are the soul’s most welcome guest, the sweetest propensity below. In our labor we have blessed you with grateful coolness and heat, solace in the midst of woe. O Most Blessed, Right, Divine, shine within these hearts of yours, especially in Africa, here in the United States, in Ukraine, in Russia, and all over the world, in Lebanon, in our inmost being filled. Where you are not, we have nothing good in need of thought, nothing free from the hate of ill. Dear our Lord, Our strength renews on our dryness. Water stains are burnt away. Bend the stubborn heart and will. Melt the frozen. Warm the chilled. Guard the steps that go astray. On the faithful who adore and confess you evermore. In your seven-fold gift, descend. Give them virtue. Give them peace. Give them your salvation. Give them joy that never ends. And may Almighty God bless us all, protect us from all evil, but give us our sins. Give us peace, joy, and victory in our Lord and Savior Christ. And may God bring us all to everlasting life. My friends, don’t forget to go online, missionofhopeandmercy.org, missionofhopeandmercy.org, to support our world, our offers, to start to help our people in Congo, in Lebanon, here in the United States, in whatever world that might be. So the peace of Jesus Christ will be always proclaimed, and this gospel of the union will be always preached. Amen. And now, my friends, continuing with our beautiful opponents, staying with us, every Sunday morning with Fr. Andre and K. Ali. Gerard, I want to welcome you to the show. And going back to speak about the mind of Christ, if your microphone is unmuted, hopefully you can hear us. I want to say good Sunday to you.
SPEAKER 03 :
Good Sunday to you, Fr. Andre, on this beautiful Sunday of Pentecost.
SPEAKER 04 :
But Gerard, you heard the cries of Madame Germaine, and you saw how expressive her joy is, her joy, how honestly it influenced to see that she lives in a mix of war, as you say. Their prayer to the Holy Spirit, their objective is peace and hope, stability and security. What do you think about that?
SPEAKER 02 :
You know, Father Andre, listening to Madame Germain made me think a little bit about the realities of war that we lived in Lebanon in the Middle East. And she said, every 30 feet, there’s a church. If you go wherever you walk, every 30 feet, you’re gonna see a church, you’re gonna see a shrine. This solidifies the fact that people thrive on hope, thrive on prayer, and it gives them the attitude to keep moving forward. And I believe that is the mind of Christ. And I believe this is what keeps people joyful and gives them that gift of the Holy Spirit, the fortitude amid these wars and these trials. Because other than that, I cannot imagine how a human being can survive and still thrive for a good life and for hope and for prosperity in the midst of such a horrible war and amidst this very tragic and brutal persecution. So I believe that is the mind of Christ that Madame Germain was talking about, where we have the right attitude through prayers, through hope, and through perseverance to want to live. I just wanted to bring that up because it really brought back memories in these countries that were torn by war and dissent and persecution, where you always had that seed of hope coming from the grassroot of the people’s faith. and that manifested in having, let’s say, a church every 30 feet.
SPEAKER 04 :
It just brings… It’s impactful, honestly. I mean, I was looking at Kelly on the other side in the studio when she said, you know, they destroy our homes, right? But then we build a church every 10 meters. I’m not sure if people heard me when I was trying to translate that, but it’s very impactful. People have no money, they have nothing. I know, what does it mean for them to build a church? few stones, one pound wrenches on the screen on top to cover their heads, and just like a small altar and candle, and they pray, and they dance, and they exclaim. Madame Germaine, for the next week, you will speak again, to give an idea of how prayer is done, how liturgy is done. The liturgy of dancing, the liturgy of prayer, the liturgy of singing, the liturgy… with African life, let’s say, and we pray, we do adoration through the dance in Our Lord, I pray. So Gérard was describing a little this instance in which you said, It’s amazing to see this experience. I was telling Madame Germain that next time I’d like to bring her on a show to describe for us the type of worship, the way they worship in Africa, the way they do the liturgical dances, the music, you know, the praise and worship, the songs and the hymns are filled. I’d love for her to be on our show for next time. and to describe a little bit of the African worship. Gerard, we have a few minutes, and Madame Germaine was saying actually before the show, we were studying some sort, today we just wanted to give a context for the justification of the problem in Congo. You see, how much in the United States we do need a Christian task force. to address the humanitarian and the spiritual, unfortunately, and the security situation in Congo. Congo has people who are suffering. Congo has people who are willing to lead Africa, all Africa. towards faith, towards hope, towards peace. As you heard, Madame Durman telling us, our collaborator for the mission of Hope and Mercy, today live on this Pentecost Sunday from Kinshasa. Gerard, the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25, and we know that we have less than 40 seconds about that. When Jesus speaks his mind to the nations, Jesus speaks his mind to the nations. He tells them, I’m gonna judge you in the end of days. He’s gonna judge them based on what, if you can recall us, in the Gospel of Matthew 25.
SPEAKER 02 :
That’s a great point, Father. When Christ sits through people and judges nations, it’s going to be very simple for people to understand why they’re being judged as such. And as he says in chapter 25, Matthew 25, 35, well, I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. A stranger, you welcomed me. Naked, you clothed me. Ill, you cared for me. In prison and you visited me. This is what Jesus’ rule of measure is gonna be when he judges the nations. And this is what brings us to the reality and the inspiration of the foundation of our apostle, the senior of commission of Pope Mercy is what we aim to do because this is gonna be the measure of judgment. Amid wars, persecution, it’s very easy to get caught up in the politics of it. But at the end of the day, what’s really gonna make the impact and what’s really gonna bring peace is having that mindset of Christ where doing what Matthew chapter 25 says becomes second nature to us. And this is having that right attitude.
SPEAKER 04 :
Thank you all for being on this beautiful radio show on the solemnity of Pentecost. As we say in Solomon, or 4 to be, bless the Lord, my Lord. Lord God, how great you are. Close the mortgage to unglory. Wrap in light as in the robe. Remember, we say always, Don’t forget what Paul says in the Supper Letter to the Corinthians 517. To be in Christ means being a completely new creature. Everything of the old is gone. Now everything is made anew. May God bless you all and have a beautiful Sunday. Do not forget to go online, missionofwalkandnurse.org.
