Hey, you know what? It’s not too often I get to do speaking engagements standing barefoot with sand running through my toes. I know.

What can I possibly say? Unfortunately, we had to see your feet outside of shoes.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, hey, you know what? There you go. And it was interesting, too. It was kind of an overcast day, but there with my shiny white legs, everybody had their sunglasses on. So I’m trying to figure out why everybody was kind of an overcast day. You were wearing a welder’s mask, so I don’t know. Exactly. Hey, this week, a few different things we’re going to be talking about. First of all, we’re going to be discussing the whole Sidney Sweeney controversy, okay, her American Eagle ad, the controversy that is not a controversy, typical left wing to manufacture controversy when it isn’t there, but also the Texas gerrymandering controversy. controversy. What the Republicans are doing there, rewriting the congressional districts, okay, redrawing them. Is that wrong? Is that controversial? How do we look at that? And also, President Trump firing the Commissioner of Bureau of Labor Statistics as he tried to manipulate the jobs numbers himself. All right, so we got a lot, and Jerome Powell at the Fed, so many different things to talk about. But let’s start with the Sidney Sweeney thing. All right, first of all, for those of you who aren’t aware, Sidney Sweeney is a young actress, Hollywood actress. She’s, I think, 27 years old. She’s considered to be a very attractive actress, you know. Okay, fine. And so she does an American Eagle ad. Well, the American Eagle ad says, Sidney Sweeney has great jeans. Okay. Well, there’s a double entendre there with the word jeans. You could perceive that it’s J-E-A-N-S, which is like, hey, she’s wearing great jeans. These American Eagle jeans, right? She’s got great jeans. Okay. But also, genes are spelled G-E-N-E-S, and it’s a very common term for if you look at somebody who is attractive, it’s like, oh, hey, that person’s got great genes. In other words, the good looks runs in their family, if you will. That’s a very common saying. But leave it to the Democrats, leave it to the liberals, leave it to the press to find controversy when it isn’t there. So what have we been seeing? We’ve been seeing Democrats claiming that she has great genes, the play G-E-N-E-S. is a Hitler-esque kind of statement from eugenics where Hitler wanted to purify the race and make the white race the superior race and the only race and get rid of genetically inferior people. And so this is really a statement about white supremacy. And she has great genes, meaning that genetically she’s white. And it’s like, you have You have to be kidding me. But this is what they’ve been saying. And then to pour lighter fluid on this controversy, Sidney Sweeney comes out of the closet that she’s a registered Republican. Ruh-roh, here we go. And so I just – I find this head-shakingly absurd, but it’s typical for the Democrats and for the mainstream media to somehow, someway turn something racial when it’s clearly not. And, John, let me start with you. I’ve got to be honest with you. If a Republican, if a conservative, let alone if Donald Trump went into a Baskin-Robbins and ordered a vanilla ice cream cone instead of chocolate, that would get turned into some kind of dog whistle statement. So this is a joke in my part on the part of the Democrats.
SPEAKER 02 :
Oh, I’ve watched some of the, you know, man on the street interviews regarding, you know, the crazy loon lefties, I should say, where, you know, they ask, you know, what was really meant in this ad? And what do you think of the ad and different things along these lines? And oh, my word, guys, you know, I always talk about the left and liberalism being a mental illness. These man-on-the-street interviews talking about this particular commercial proves my point over and over again. These are people that have absolutely lost their ever-loving mind.
SPEAKER 04 :
Neil, which – by the way, Neil, I don’t even – to be honest with you, I don’t even know who Sidney Sweeney is. If you showed me a picture of her, I would not know that that’s Sidney Sweeney or that that’s even her name. So I guess that’s how disconnected I am from today’s culture. But I do want to, Neil, before I throw it over to you, let me read what Donald Trump has to say about this. He posted, quote, Sidney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the hottest ad out there. It’s for American Eagle and the jeans are flying off the shelves. Go get him, Sidney. On the other side of this ledger, Jaguar did a stupid and seriously woke advertisement. This is a total disaster. The CEO just resigned in disgrace and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad? Shouldn’t they have learned a lesson from Bud Light, which went woke and essentially destroyed in a short campaign the company? The market cap destruction has been unprecedented with billions of dollars so foolishly lost. So, yeah. But, you know, actually, Neil, to me, what would make sense, one of the smartest things Transheiser Bush could possibly do is hire Sidney Sweeney as their new spokesperson and try to undo the damage from that stupid Dylan Mulvaney nonsense. But I don’t know. What’s your take on the, quote, unquote, controversy surrounding the American Eagle ad of Sidney Sweeney has great genes?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I’m a little amazed, actually, that anybody has an issue with using an attractive model to sell product. I mean, come on. Just figure.
SPEAKER 04 :
Except Bud Light doesn’t do that. Bud Light uses a man. So, you know, whatever. A man in a halter top.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. But the point is, I mean, just look at every legacy media female anchor in America, right? Television anchor, including all their network affiliates across the country. You’re looking at a whole lot of blonde-haired, blue-eyed people, not exclusively.
SPEAKER 04 :
What do they all have in common?
SPEAKER 03 :
They’re all very attractive. Come on. Like, what are you kidding me right now? Obviously looks matter. And Sydney Sweeney is a very beautiful girl. I would not have recognized her either. I’m no, you know, genius when it comes to pop culture issues. I wouldn’t know. I don’t know anything to tell you about her history, except that she’s an actress and that she’s attractive. Obviously you can see that, but, um, The controversy surrounding it, just as John alluded to earlier, just underscores the madness that we have become, you know, that we now see in America and that has become of the Democrats and liberals trying to excuse beauty, actually. And now I’m not I’m not in favor of every last part of the ad. I think at one point they sort of focus on her breasts and she says something like, hey, eyes up here, guys. I’m up here, you know. And I don’t think we ought to be celebrating that kind of sexualization. But on the other hand, who in the right mind is going to try to sell any kind of clothing product with an unattractive person? Well, actually, it has been tried by some people, you know, on the woke side of the equation who say that stretch marks are beautiful or obesity is beautiful. And rather than focusing on public health issues, they’re trying to push an agenda that says, this is what you really want, people. You don’t want to look like Sidney Sweeney in those jeans. You just… You know, you want to look like this kind of thing because this is what’s right. And it doesn’t sell. It’s nonsense. It doesn’t sell. It’s not what’s attractive to people. And I think they’re out of their mind for trying it.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, you know what? I mean, Neil, if you think about it, how often have you and I had to say to women, excuse me, my eyes are up here. OK, you know, because, you know, let’s face it.
SPEAKER 02 :

The three of us are always getting solicited to, you know, to sell jeans because we, you know, whatever.
SPEAKER 02 :
I identify as a good looking man.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, that’s exactly – that’s my visual – that’s my aesthetic identity. All right. So we’re in – you know, actually, I think this controversy has kind of been a good thing because it’s really exposed the absurdity of the left wing in this country and how they somehow create and manufacture controversy when it isn’t there. Absolutely. And so I’m thinking, go ahead and make yourselves look silly. You’re just damaging your own brand. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 02 :

And my wife and I have probably seen every episode ten times, you know, of the whole series of Everybody Loves Raymond. So just a classic. Although the first year was kind of weak, you know, when Debra had short hair and the characters were still trying to find themselves. And if you remember, here’s a little bit of trivia you might appreciate, Neal. You know, Brad Garrett, who played Robert Barone, the cop, you may recall that in the first season he was pretty heavy. He was pretty fat. And then he was thin for all the rest of the seasons. You know why he was so fat is because he had just done that movie, the remake of The Honeymooners, where he was playing Jackie Gleason. And he deliberately gained about 60, 70 pounds to do that. And that’s the reason he was so heavy then. in that first, second season. He had to take the weight off then after playing Jackie Gleason. So see, there you go.

He’s absolutely one of my favorite characters. Love it.

Great character. Everybody loves Reeves. All right. We actually are talking about serious things on the podcast here, folks. Let’s move to the Texas gerrymandering controversy as the left is turning it into. So for those of you who don’t understand how this works, the… The legislature in individual states, they have the power, the legislature can, to redraw congressional districts. That’s why if you look at your congressional district, notice it’s probably not shaped like a nice little box. It’s probably shaped like a Picasso painting with weird strips going off in different directions. This is usually because there is a thing called gerrymandering of districts. And this is where you can literally redraw the district so that let’s say that you have a particular district that is a mix of let’s say of a district that’s overwhelmingly Republican. OK. And, you know, 80 percent of the people in your district are Republican. But right next to you is a district that 80 percent of that district or we’ll say 60 percent of that district votes Democrat in the district next to you. You redraw the lines so that you now include part of that Democrat district because you can afford to take 20 or 30 percent of Democrats from that district, put them in your district, and you still win Republican. But now that other district ends up going Republican, too, because they don’t have as much Democrats. Now, you might say, well, isn’t that kind of cheating the system? To a certain extent, yes, but it’s built into the system, and this is done by Republicans and Democrats in states all over the country. It is a regular, normal thing that’s done.
SPEAKER 02 :
Democrats do it all the time, especially here in Colorado.
SPEAKER 04 :
I know, all the time. Now, I do want to say, just for devil’s advocate and to pose the other side, it is commonly done right after the 10-year census comes out. That’s right. That’s when pretty much everybody’s gerrymandering their districts. And that’s why it’s so important to find out locally, are the local legislatures controlled by Republicans or Democrats? Because whoever controls them, especially right after a census, is going to be able to rewrite those districts and benefit their own party. Okay, so that’s why it’s so important to get Republicans in your state legislatures. You can’t dismiss that. However… It’s not usually done in between the census. It’s not usually done mid-census. It’s usually done at the end of the census once that’s taken. And that’s one of the reasons the Democrats are making such a big issue out of this in Texas because this is mid-census. census. And so therefore, look what they’re doing. And so the Democrats in Texas decided, well, then we’re just going to go ahead and flee the state, go AWOL. And they went to Illinois. And so now there aren’t enough members of the legislature to have what’s called a quorum, which is the minimum amount that you need for a vote. So consequently, Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, has said, fine, we’re going to issue arrest warrants for those Democrats because legally you’re not allowed to do this. You can’t go AWOL and abandon your post. And I agree with Greg Abbott doing this. The counter-counter argument to this is when people say, well, then aren’t the Republicans doing, aren’t they breaking with protocol by doing it mid-census? The counter-counter argument is, Yes, but guess what? Democrats do that all the time. They’ve done it mid-census in California, in New Jersey, Neal in New York. I mean, let’s face it, this is something that is common. And John, I want to throw it to you first. It cracks me up. to watch the left go all apoplectic about this when they have really cornered the market on gerrymandering districts and especially doing it during mid-census. So Texas is just doing nothing more than saying, hey, you guys do it all the time on the left.
SPEAKER 02 :
That’s right. It’s our turn. No, in fact, they could write the book on how to do this, Bob. It’d probably be a better way of saying it. So they’re ones that don’t want to say they invented this by any means, but when it comes to perfecting it and really making it work for them, which they’ve done here in Colorado, by the way, reality is whenever they’re in charge, they do that and they use that to their advantage anytime they can. So for them to be complaining about what’s going on in Texas right now, it’s laughable.
SPEAKER 04 :
It really is. I know this is really inside politics, but Neil, I mean, what’s your take on this? To me, this is not returning evil for evil. This is just playing the very same political game that the Democrats play all the time. If baseball allows you, if baseball changes the rules sometime in the past and says you’re allowed to steal second, then guess what? The Christians on the team should also steal second because that’s now woven into the game. And The Democrats are the ones who have changed these rules to do it mid-census.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, and sometimes I think that things may not be just on the surface right or wrong. They are what they are. I mean, I sometimes think of like – Maybe people intentionally walking batters to get to the next hitter. It’s allowed by the rules of baseball. Is it the right thing to do? People pay good money to see a guy like Aaron Judge hit the baseball. But you’re allowed to do it. And if it helps your team win the game, then take advantage of that opportunity. And right now in New York State, there’s an effort underway to do some kind of a mid-census program. gerrymandering thing in exact response to what’s going on in Texas. So it’s already before mid census. Well, I know the first time they would be doing it. No, but they need the approval of the state legislature and they’re moving in that direction. But the point is that it’s happened before and it’s happening again. Why? Because they can do it. Is it the right thing to do? I don’t know. You can argue the moral merits of it, but it’s not illegal, especially if you have the approval of the legislature. So they’re going to do it. And they’re saying this in direct response to what’s going on in Texas. So in other words, in response to blatant gerrymandering, it says here in a state of New York report, mid-decade redistricting would still prohibit partisan gerrymandering. So anyway, yeah, I don’t, it’s how the game gets played for whatever reason. It’s one of the dirtier aspects of politics, I think. I mean, no one likes to have a district, you know, a voting district redistricted so that it can’t go Republican or Democrat, whichever side you happen to be on, but that’s how it works. Bob, you said it earlier. It’s why you want members of your own political party in power in your state. That’s why it matters. It isn’t just who’s president of the United States or who controls Congress. It’s who controls the states as well, because they have power.
SPEAKER 04 :
By the way, can I also say, and John, I’d love to get your take on this, the Democrats, when you talk about how they’ve written the book on manipulating the system, look at what they do with illegal immigration. You know why the Democrats have been allowing a flood of millions and millions of illegals into their sanctuary states is because they get to count those people as part of the population in the census. That’s right. which means they get a disproportionate amount of congressional districts. And those congressional districts, because there’s a fixed 435 congressional districts. OK, 438 electoral, but 435 districts. It stays 435. So if California adds one or two congressional districts because they now have a bigger piece of the U.S. population pie, Those congressional districts have to come from somewhere. So it could be Alabama going from 9 down to 8 or something like that. So the Republican states that follow the immigration laws, they end up having to give up congressional districts to give extra ones to places like New York, Illinois, California. And this is a way for the Democrats to make it easier for them to get and hold on to control of the House and harder for Republicans to get and hold on to it. This is a total manipulation of the system that they’ve used open borders for. And it’s so inside politics, your average person doesn’t even know that.
SPEAKER 02 :
No, they don’t. And this is why I’m also so big on, you know, and I know that, you know, our side is very big on, you know, principles and we can’t ever compromise anything and all these different things, which I get. And on certain things, I fully understand that. But, you know, guys, you still have to win at the end of the day and keep your seats. If you can’t keep your seats, you know, we could use the big, beautiful bill as an example and take Thomas Massey’s approach, which, by the way, if he used his approach and everybody went the way he would, We would lose so many seats when it’s all said and done. We wouldn’t have any power left. So you can’t always get exactly what you want along those lines. That’s a problem that guys like, you know, Thomas Massey have while principled, you know, principally speaking, they’re correct. But in reality, Bob, you can’t do that. And the states have the same issue. We have the same issue here in Colorado with our party. They don’t look at the things that I just said. They only look at we want this candidate because he he checks all the boxes and he does everything the right way. And we know we can trust him no matter what when he goes in to vote. But at the end of the day, he’s unelectable or she’s unelectable. That doesn’t help us get done, Bob, what you’re talking about right now.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. So you know what you do if you’re out of power, though, when it comes to the gerrymandering? Back to that. If you’re the party that’s out of power, then you try to win the elections next midterm. You don’t go AWOL. So real quick, 10 seconds. Should the Democrats in Texas be arrested when they come back into the state? Yes. I agree. I agree. You don’t go AWOL. You don’t abandon your post. You suck it up and you say, well, this is what happens. These are the consequences of losing elections and not having control of the state legislature.
SPEAKER 02 :
That’s childish, too, at the end of the day. I mean, that’s just like saying, I’m going to take my ball and get off the playground because I don’t like the way you’re playing ball.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. Well, and guess what? Legally, you’re not allowed to abandon your post. Correct. It is, in fact, a political version of going AWOL. OK, it really is. So we got a lot more to talk. Yeah. Go ahead, Neil, real quick, like 10 seconds.

Just going to say that it prevents chaos. I mean, the bottom line is do what you were elected to do, and that is to show up and vote. And too bad if you don’t have the votes next time win the election.

And also Donald Trump, his administration for the 2028 Olympics will not allow visas to be issued to foreigners coming here. if they’re transgender and trying to compete, if they’re men trying to compete in women’s Olympics, they’re going to be denied visas. So he’s not just saying it’s the US who’s going to have men competing against men and women competing against women. He’s saying, hey, other countries around the world, this is on our turf. So don’t think you’re sending your hairy men here to take the gold away from some top woman competitor. So good for Donald Trump. There are people, though, that are making a big issue out of Donald Trump firing the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Erica McIntarfer. And she’s been fired by Trump. He’s looking for a new commissioner. And people are saying that this is Donald Trump’s way to try to manipulate the jobs numbers. Now, Trump has used a harsh word, rigged, saying the job numbers have been rigged. They are. Rigged might be too strong of a word. It might not be. John, look, I get where you’re coming from. Let me just, for those, because this is pretty inside politics, so for those who may not be aware, okay, the BLS, Bureau of Labor Statistics, what they do is they come out with their estimated, based on surveys, their estimated jobs created or lost that particular month, okay? Okay. Then as the data ends up rolling in, they modify those numbers and they end up revising either upward or downward. But usually the estimates are pretty close to accurate and they don’t have to get revised really upward or downward by that much.
SPEAKER 02 :
They haven’t been for the last five years.
SPEAKER 04 :
I know. And you know what? Since the in the age of Trump, isn’t it a coincidence, John, that during the election year of 2024, right, that right after Joe Biden dropped out, we had strong jobs numbers, strong jobs numbers. And then as soon as Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Oh, well, we need to revise these numbers downward. 818,000 jobs. And then in the two months leading up to the election, the jobs numbers were better for Kamala Harris until right after the election. Then they were down 4%. graded by 112,000 jobs. And that comes a point where you can’t blame Donald Trump for saying something. You are manipulating the numbers to make it look inflated when it helps Democrats and make it look deflated when it hurts Republicans. And that’s why Trump is like, I don’t trust the 73,000 job figure for the month of July. And I don’t trust that the two previous months had to be downgraded by a quarter of a million. Something’s going on. So, John, I’m thinking at worst, she has been manipulating data for political purposes, a Biden appointee, by the way, or at best, she’s incompetent at her job. Either way, she’s got to go.
SPEAKER 02 :
And for those of you that think this is Trump trying to manipulate the job numbers, frankly, it’s not. And there’s so much more we could talk about in regards to how they actually come up with this. Some of you would be shocked at how some of these numbers are derived, by the way. But at the end of the day, and I love Donald Trump, another one of his mistakes, though, should have canned her day one. I agree. I agree. Shouldn’t have even waited this long. Should have canned her and others like her day one. I don’t know why he dinks around and waits as long as he does on some of this stuff. I would have fired those like her from day one, Bob.
SPEAKER 04 :
I know. It could just be something that slipped through the cracks, but how do the BLS numbers slip through the cracks? They don’t.
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s very key to how things work, including interest rates and all that, which I know we’re going to talk about with Jerome Powell, but At the end of the day, that’s one of the key things, key indicators when it comes to how we handle the economy and the drivers of, and really quick for everybody listening, because most people don’t know this, Bob. In fact, I didn’t know this until I started researching this some decade plus ago. Everybody thinks that all these labor numbers come in from payroll companies like Paychex and ADP and so on, and that’s where all of these, how many people are actually working in the workforce comes from. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As you said earlier, it’s done with surveys but it’s not even a survey like most people would think they literally call on the phone different households i’d never been called by the way and try to determine how many people in that household are actually working and they’ve got different questions that they you know couch accordingly and so on at the end of the at the end of the day bob it has to be one of the most loony ways of determining who’s working and who’s not you could ever hear
SPEAKER 04 :
I know. So you cannot go by it. But Neil, what are your thoughts on this? By the way, I’m with John. I’m a little surprised that Donald Trump was so slow to fire her. I would have done it a lot faster. My guess is that Trump is probably smacking his forehead going, you know something? I should have done this months ago.
SPEAKER 03 :
What was wrong with me? Well, as I recall, it seemed like they were kind of busy the first hundred days of his presidency.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, if anybody can multitask, it’s Trump, though.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I get it. But that one, if what you say is true and I’m in agreement with you, I think it was major oversight and a problem that probably could have been avoided for this very reason. But what’s interesting about this, this reminds me, by the way, of like election results trickling in. And sometimes they’re saying, oh, we’re not going to have the election results for another couple of weeks, you know, or whatever. We’ve got to recount all that.

i don’t know we live we live in a digital age you can tell with certainty how many people are streaming you know a movie at any given time like netflix knows how many people are using their service at any moment of the day so why businesses that pay state and federal taxes aren’t required quarterly to say are we up 10 you know employees are we down 50 employees whatever that they would have to report consistently quarterly hit a button send the information and we have exact numbers
SPEAKER 02 :
They do. They do. They do, by the way, everybody in this again, for some of you that don’t know how this works on the employer side, we all pay taxes. We we are the tax collector for employees, meaning we’ve got everybody’s Social Security number. We’re filing that stuff in some cases, depending upon how big your business is. Three days after payroll, you know, X days after payroll, 30 days for some. The reality is they have these numbers as to how many people are actually in the workforce. And if you want proof of that, if you ever have a garnishment on your wages, just tell me how long it takes for that garnishment to show up at that employer. You go to work there and within a week or two, you’re going to have that garnishment show up as an employer for that employee. That’s how fast it takes. Don’t tell me that BLS can’t have this data more accurate and faster, guys.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, then why have they invented this other system where they’re- Because you can manipulate the numbers this way. But I mean, during Republican administrations, they couldn’t have fixed that.
SPEAKER 02 :
They should have. Well, I agree.
SPEAKER 03 :
Then that’s on the Republicans.

I agree with you.
SPEAKER 03 :
Because it’s all inaccurate at that point. I mean, yeah, like any kind of polling revolves around sample size. So like if you go to a restaurant and you ask three people, did you like your meal? And they say, yeah, it was really delicious or no, it was awful. Well, the other 97% could have felt the other way, but you didn’t ask them. So how confident are we in these statistics that they’re putting out? If they’re just kind of calling people on the phone and sometimes people are responding, and obviously sometimes they’re not, they’re saying they’re not getting callbacks or they’re not getting accurate information all the time, then how trustworthy are these numbers? And I don’t blame Donald Trump for raising the question. If something looks like it’s wrong, then check it out. And I think that getting rid of the BLS commissioner was probably the best thing he could have done to begin to get to the bottom of that.
SPEAKER 02 :
Really quick, the other thing that doesn’t get counted very well, it’s counted, but it’s very lax at best, is all of the gig workers that are now out there, all the people that decided, you know what, I can go do Uber, I can go do Uber Eats, I can go do this, I can be my own 1099 contractor, by the way, at the end of the day. And the reality is unless you’re called in this survey, they’re never counting you is my point. So the whole gig worker end of things, they’ll tell you that those people are counted, but it’s very loose at best.
SPEAKER 04 :
Absolutely. So true. And by the way, we’ve got a lot more to talk about. Like, for example, Jerome Powell, should he be fired as Fed chair? Now, again, I do want to kind of for some of our listeners who don’t understand a lot of the significance of why Trump is so upset with Jerome Powell, the Fed chair. Okay. The chairman of the Federal Reserve basically is the head of a board that decides whether interest rates are going to be lowered at the federal level. Well, when you lower interest rates at the federal level, it makes it easier for people to finance, businesses to finance. and such. And so consequently, it tends to trickle down and lower interest rates for people across the country. So therefore, you see interest rates for buying homes, buying cars going down. That stimulates more activity. However, there is a a potential downside to lowering interest rates, and that is that you can tend to weaken the dollar on the international stage and therefore weaken foreign investment into the United States. And so from Jerome Powell’s perspective, that’s why he’s like, we’re holding fast and not going to lower interest rates anymore. Donald Trump is saying, what is wrong with you? Lower the interest rates now because we need to get the economy booming. It John, let me start with you on this, first of all, because I know you as a businessman, you certainly understand business. You understand finances, economics. I would argue – and I’m a layman here. I get it. But I would argue that the reason Trump is right and Jerome Powell is wrong is because – If lowering the interest rates is going to cause a weakened investment into the U.S., Donald Trump is already proving that that’s not the case because he already got the EU to commit to $750 billion worth of energy purchases to another $600 billion in investments. Japan, $550 billion in investments. And when you look at the countries around the world, these tariffs are are actually getting us better trade deals, and they’re getting literally trillions and trillions of dollars of foreign investments into this country. As far as I’m concerned, that makes up for any potential temporary weakening of the dollar.
SPEAKER 02 :
It is. And you’re, you’re right on that. And first of all, Jerome, and I get where Jerome Powell, he’s thinking, okay, we still got to sell treasuries and do things along those lines. And we’ve got to make sure that we’re able to, you know, handle our own debt and so on. And I get that. And I understand that. Although the stronger you make the U S economy and the more robust it is, the more people will invest here because they know their investment is solid. Nobody wants to invest money in a country whereby they don’t think they’re going to get the return on their investment. So let’s get that right out of the way. And, Right now, one of the things that we need is a shot in the arm, and Trump is exactly right in this. Jerome Powell has been saying it on air now for the past – probably six months. Jerome Powell is so late to the game. He was late to the game in raising them. He kept calling interest rates. The inflation transitory at that point wouldn’t raise rates as early as he should have. He was late then. He is extremely late now. He’s basically playing politics right now, which the Fed chair should never do. Everybody talked about how he should be independent. Then he needs to act independent because he’s not. He has a vendetta against Donald Trump. It shows in just the way that he even has a facial expression towards Donald Trump. Anytime that name is mentioned, you can see it in his face. You can see it in his eyes. He is bound to determine not to lower rates until he absolutely has to just to try his best to be, you know, basically to poke Donald Trump in the eye when it’s all said and done. He’s doing all of this, by the way, on the backs of. of the American population, especially middle Americans. The rich, they get rich no matter what. The poor, they’re always going to be there. The middle Americans are really who he’s working off of on this, and it’s a travesty that he’s doing this. And any of you that would want to argue with me on this, I challenge you, because right now the real estate market is in a big slump. It’s in a big slump because of one person and one person only. It’s called Jerome Powell. The reality is because of people having low interest rates on their mortgages, which I don’t blame them for this, they don’t want to move or make any adjustments until they can get at least somewhere close to where they’re at with their current interest rate. Meaning if they’re in the You know, three and a half to four percent range. You know, they’re not going to go pay six to seven percent for a mortgage. They want to see that be five and a half, maybe five and three quarter. You might actually get them to move and do something that in and of itself will in and of itself will stimulate the economy, of course. So the reality is Jerome Powell is holding a lot of that back on my end as a business owner. I’ve got debt service on a lot of things that we do to grow. From lines of credit to your point, Bob, buying trucks, equipment, all those different things, the reality is for all of you listening, newsflash, most businesses don’t pay cash for all of that stuff. You can’t grow and do the things you need to do as a business by using your own money. It’s called using other people’s money that comes at a cost. And that short-term interest rate that the Fed sets has a lot to do with that. And before somebody sends us an email and corrects me, that short-term interest rate that the Fed sets, that they are not directly affecting 30-year mortgages. That’s true, but indirectly they do. If you lower the overall short-term rate, you will naturally see the 30-year mortgage come down as well. So anybody that wants to text us or email us and say, you guys don’t know what you’re talking about, I understand the principle of that. Trust me, I understand it probably as well as anybody, and I get that. But the reality is, Bob, you know it as well as I, short-term rate lowering will eventually lower 30-year mortgages.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. You are not going to have the Fed take interest rates down to 3%, 2%, 1% and still be looking at 6.5%, 7% mortgage interest rates. You’re not going to see that. So it does have a trickle-down effect. It’s not a direct, but it is an indirect effect.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, and for all those listening, the reason for that is because when you’re looking at one interest rate on, let’s say, a treasury, which are based upon the rate that Bob just said, and you can go out and buy a 30-year mortgage in a package of them, by the way, and you can do that at, let’s say, 5.5% to 6%, Bob, well, which one do you think you’re going to buy? You’re going to go buy the 30-year mortgages. And so that spread is always there for those of you that that don’t understand that there’s a two, two and a half percent spread that’s always there. So the minute you lower short term rates, that spread itself is going to lower itself. You know, the whole trajectory comes down. So please don’t send me an email saying I don’t know what I’m talking about because I do.
SPEAKER 04 :
And we need businesses to make decisions to borrow money, to invest, to grow their businesses instead of holding their breath.
SPEAKER 02 :
Especially now, Bob, with all the tax advantages businesses have with what Trump just did with the big, beautiful bill. Not a better time to lower rates and stimulate the economy. Jerome Powell is a moron. I’m sorry. I’ve been saying it. I’ll keep saying it. The guy is late to the game. He’s got a vendetta against Trump. And my feeling is, and I would not normally say this, if he doesn’t lower rates in September, if I were Trump, I’d fire him.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know what? First of all, his term is up in May of next year anyway, but I wouldn’t wait until May of next year. There needs to be one, if not two, drops by then. And I’m not talking about a quarter point. I’m talking about a half or three quarters. You know what? You’re absolutely right. Neil, what do you think? You’re on CNBC now. What do you think, Neil?
SPEAKER 03 :
Listen, I have a different question. Does he have the power to fire him? He can for cause. What would the cause be right now? Just that there’s a disagreement about him pulling the trigger too late?
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, that he’s basically mismanaging his job. I think your argument would be you’re stifling the economy right now and you’re hurting the back. You’re doing this on the backs of middle America.
SPEAKER 04 :
And he’s doing nothing more than just saying, you know what, you’re taking an early buyout because he’s already done May of next year. So we’re just not going to let you write out the rest of your year. We’re going to put somebody who’s more aggressive in that position. Yes, Trump is allowed to do that. And if it turns out to be a bad political decision, then it can potentially hurt him and Republicans politically. But if it’s a good and wise decision. Look, the reason this needs to happen now is because we got midterms next year as well. And we need to start seeing the economy booming in a way that it could. We need interest rates to be coming down. And that’s why Trump can’t wait until he finishes in May of next year. By that time, we’re too deep into the election cycle, Neal.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, but humor me for just a second. It’s just a question. Yes, the economy needs to be booming so that Republicans do well in the midterms. 100% agree. However, every decision, every policy also weighs in to that factor. And what are the optics on Trump saying, well, listen, you’re not doing what I want you to do quick enough. I don’t really have technically have cause, but I’m just going to call it cause. And I’m just going to get rid of you because I think you should have lower interest rates short term, at least sooner. Okay. And say the way that it is.
SPEAKER 04 :
I don’t care about the optics. Well, I care more about is the optics of people’s people’s interest rates still staying high and not buying homes like they should be.
SPEAKER 03 :
I get it. I get it. And people love, you know, when the economy is good, when, when it’s easy to go to the gas station and fill up or get groceries or whatever, all of that really, really matters. I get it. But the other side is trying to play the card that Donald Trump is a dictator. He does whatever he wants. He operates outside the guidelines of what a president’s really technically allowed to do. And is he feeding that narrative at all in any way by simply just pulling the trigger on this guy and saying he’s got to go because I want my guy in there who’s going to do what I want him to do?
SPEAKER 04 :
They’re going to lie about him no matter what. He does technically have the right to fire the Fed chair.
SPEAKER 02 :
He does. And it would be a risky move politically, as Bob just said. But I think Bob is right. You do this. And Bob, it’s not just because I’m your cheerleader. You’re correct, though, either way.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, no, no, John. John, you’re my yes man.
SPEAKER 02 :
Oh, that’s right. Yes, man. Sorry. Sorry. I’m your yes man. That’s exactly right. Bottom line is it’s got to be done now. Neil, if you’re going to you got to wait till September. See if he makes any moves by then. If he does, then he probably can stay and you’re on the right track and you don’t have to do anything. Hopefully that’s the way things will work out. But if he does not lower rates in September, I don’t think you have any choice but to let him go because you’re you’re then nine months. Not quite nine. You’re. You’re, what, 11 months, 10 months? Well, probably nine. Actually, I’m probably right on the nine months when it really comes down to the election cycle end of things, Bob. You’re about nine months out. You can’t do it January, February of next year. He’s going to be gone in May anyways. If you’re going to do it, you’ve got to do it now.
SPEAKER 03 :
What do you guys make of the impromptu press conference yesterday or whatever, when he pulls out the documentation saying that the renovation of the Fed was supposed to be a two point five billion project has, you know, has cost overruns and stuff. And I think he’s just trying to make Powell look stupid so that when he fires him, it looks like a good decision. I think you’re right. I mean, that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Look, I think you’re right. And so what? I mean, make him, you know, tarnish his image, okay? Because he does need to go. And by the way, this September, yeah, I think Powell probably knows. I’m not going to make it to my retirement date if I hold fast, if I stand pat on rates. So I’m going to have to lower them. Here’s my prediction, guys, and maybe I’ll be proven wrong. He ends up lowering rates in September, but only by a quarter point. And then Trump fires him anyway because it should have been three quarters, if not a whole point. That’s right. You’re right on that, Bob. That’s my best guess prediction.
SPEAKER 02 :
I know we’re kind of winding down. Really quick, if he does a half, he probably stays.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, it’s pregnant, my guess is. Which is really a shame because guess what? That’s not what the Fed is supposed to be doing, making politically strategic decisions based on, is this going to get me fired? Is this not going to get me fired? How’s this politically going to look? No, it’s supposed to be for the benefit of the country economically. And unfortunately, I don’t think the decisions are going to be based on that. I think you’re probably right. Although, I’m not sure, John. I think even if he took it down a half point, Trump might still say it should have been a full point. He’s still going.
