You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 06 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 18 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 19 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 25 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 19 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Charlie Grimes on this snowy Friday afternoon. We’re going to take a quick break. We’ll come back, do NFL picks. And then for those of you maybe just joining us right now, we will also do movies about manhood. Manhood. Again, as I asked a little bit ago, any specifics?
SPEAKER 10 :
Basically, these are movies that are the opposite of Tim Walls.
SPEAKER 08 :
So if they can load a shotgun in the movie, we’re okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’re there. If they don’t want tampons in men’s rooms, we’re okay. So really, it’s pretty wide. Yeah, that’s a big, wide definition. Manhood is really an enormously wide thing that encompasses half of humanity, except for Tim Walz.
SPEAKER 08 :
And a lot of Democrats.
SPEAKER 10 :
A few, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
It just is. All right. Let’s do this. We’ll take a break. We’ll come back. We’ll get things fired off. Andy and Richard will do NFL picks. And again, text us your Manhood Movies 307-200-8222. 307-200-8222. American National Insurance is next. My good friend Paul Leuenberger. And on days like today, you really need to make sure that you’ve got the proper insurance. All it takes is one accident and things could change dramatically. 303-662-0789.
SPEAKER 13 :
Paul Leuenberger will teach you how to pay for home insurance the right way, saving money on premiums while protecting yourself from catastrophic costs in the future. American National Insurance keeps premiums low by attracting clients who choose to self-insure the small stuff. Most people don’t understand basic economics, so they file claims all the time, driving up the cost of insurance year after year. You listen to Rush to Reason, so you probably have a better head on your shoulders, financially speaking, than the average homeowner. Still, you can learn new strategies from Paul Leuenberger to practice responsible money management. The smartest homeowners only file claims in emergencies, opting to pay out-of-pocket for everyday expenses. Personal responsibility benefits everyone, enabling you to afford total loss coverage. Call John’s personal insurance agent, Paul Leuenberger, with American National Insurance for details about his one-of-a-kind rebate program, 303-662-0789.

SPEAKER 05 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive. This is John Rush.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, and Richard, you are with us now, right? Hello, Richard.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you there?
SPEAKER 08 :
There we go. I am here. Are you people there?
SPEAKER 06 :
We are here. You ready? This is the first time we have spoken since the fateful day of Tuesday evening. And how great is it?
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m going to be honest. Two things. Number one, the buzz has not even begun to wear off. And number two, it really wasn’t until yesterday it really started to sink in with me. Donald Trump is going to be our president. And I don’t know if I’m happier because he’s going to be my president or if I’m happier because he’s going to be the president of all those vicious people on the left who tried to destroy him for the last several years.
SPEAKER 06 :
I was going to say, Andy, it makes my wife nauseous, but I enjoy it. I enjoyed watching MSNBC and CNN because I just love watching the torture, right? And I know I’m a bad person and probably a bad Christian for saying that. Richard, they raided Mar-a-Lago.
SPEAKER 10 :
My gosh. I mean, everything that they did, they shot him twice or they tried to kill him twice. They raided his home. They hauled him in on every charge they could possibly concoct. They told the whole world for years that he colluded with Russia. I feel no sensitivity to these people.
SPEAKER 06 :
None. Fair enough. And not to mention, none of it worked. And the fact that Andy, he’s, I mean, he may not win it by as much as obviously he is now, but the fact that he’s likely going to win the popular vote too is just a massive referendum against everything that the left has done.
SPEAKER 10 :
been against for the past four years yep yeah all i can say is it’s cold and snowy outside and i’m warm inside i feel great but okay shall we rip through some nfl games sir go for it i have not looked at these richard you’re gonna have to guide me here we go the giants are favored by six and a half on the road at the woeful panthers you said there’s the giants on the road right andy yep
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Andy, again, this is another woeful game. Which Giants team? Maybe they’re better. No, they’re not better than we thought, Andy. Maybe the Panthers are better than we thought, but probably not. This, Andy, to me is another pick-em. I have no idea who starts with for the Panthers. This literally seems to be a coin flip game for me, Andy. I’ll go with the Panthers just because they’re at home, Andy, and I know that they’re a dog, it seems like, but hey, that’s okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
I got no clue. I’ll take the Giants next game. The Patriots, they just look bad everywhere they go. They’re on the road at the Bears. Bears favored by six. Obviously, two big-time young quarterbacks.
SPEAKER 06 :
Two big-time young quarterbacks in kind of different situations, Andy, although the Bears are, in theory, positioned better. But, you know, they’ve still got a ways to go, too, which I think is sort of they’re waking up to that idea. I’m going to go… Well, for my son, even though he’s not paying attention right now, I will go with Caleb Williams and the Bears here, Andy, especially because they’re at home.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I’ll take the Bears as well. The Bills are favored by only four on the road at the Colts. That’s an odd spread to me, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, me too. That’s weird. I don’t know what to expect with Indianapolis. I think Buffalo, we’ve talked about it for a few weeks now, is sort of coming into their own. They’re starting to figure it out. I think they are the greatest threat to the Chiefs. In the AFC, and yes, that’s counting Baltimore even after their victory last night, I just think Buffalo’s starting to become a more complete team. So I’m going to go with the Bills here, even on the road, and again, I don’t know why that spread’s only four.
SPEAKER 10 :
I agree. I’ll take the Bills by 14. Okay. Big game for you, of course. Broncos are on the road at the Chiefs. Chiefs are favored by eight, but you know what? They have not been that impressive. And the Broncos, you never know which team’s going to show up. If they do, they’re tough as nails.
SPEAKER 06 :
You are correct, Andy. You don’t know which team’s going to show up, and then at the same time with the Chiefs, you feel like these games all are close, but they end up pulling it out. I would love to say the Broncos here, Andy, as I think I said last week, against, and I can’t remember who I picked, but this is not, it’s at home. It’s likely not going to be the Broncos, unfortunately. Mahomes is just too good. However, maybe this game’s closer than we anticipated, Andy, and then who knows what happens in the fourth quarter, but let’s be honest. Who are we kidding? We do know what happens in the fourth quarter of a close game involving Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and that is the Chiefs’ win. So I’ll go with the Chiefs here.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’ll take the Chiefs, too. Okay, next game, the Falcons are favored by 3.5 on the road at the Saints. Now, the Saints have been reeling. Is 3.5 enough?
SPEAKER 06 :
They just are terrible, Andy. They traded Marshawn Lattimore. They just fired their coach. I just don’t know, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, but some teams, new coach, they play fired up. You never know.
SPEAKER 06 :
I think the Saints need a reset as an organization, to be honest with you. So I’m going to go with the Falcons here, Andy, and I actually think they cover.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, by the way, the Saints are one of those teams that just destroyed themselves on the salary cap. They’re paying for it. I think the Falcons rolled. Next game, 49ers are favored by 6.5 on the road at the Buccaneers.
SPEAKER 06 :
Christian McCaffrey’s back, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, that means a lot.
SPEAKER 06 :
It does mean a lot. I don’t know if I love this spread, Andy. I think this game’s going to be closer than it indicates, you know, five or six points here. I think that Baker’s – again, we talk about this, I feel like, every week. He’s just a really good fit for that team, that culture, everything. But they just don’t have enough weapons, and it’s just unfortunate because I think if they had more weapons, he would actually – this game probably would be closer, and they’re actually a shoe-in to compete for Atlanta or with Atlanta for the NFC South title. I’m going to go with the 49ers here, Andy, but I don’t think they cover. I think it’s a tougher game than they anticipate.
SPEAKER 10 :
I agree. I’ll take the Niners. I think the Bucs are just too banged up at wide receiver. Okay, next game, good game. The Steelers are on the road at the Commanders. Commanders favored by 2.5.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Andy, young versus old to me in this, right? You’ve got your Jaden Daniels versus Russ, but not only Russ, but Mike Tomlin, and just the way that the Steelers do – I think the Steelers are going to muddle this game, Andy. They’re going to make it hard. They’re going to make it a slog. And Tomlin knows how to contain those running quarterbacks. He’s got experience with it, obviously, with Lamar Jackson. I think this will be a good game. It’ll be a good test for the young Daniels. But I’m going to go, Andy, with Pittsburgh. And as much as it pains me to say with Russ, it’s not a Russ thing. It’s just a Tomlin and a Pittsburgh Steelers team that is just a tough out.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, I’m going to take the Commanders just because they’re at home. But, yeah, this one, that’s a coin toss. Next game is not a coin toss. The Vikings are favored by seven at the Jaguars.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, come on. Yeah, well, the Jags are reeling. He likely will make it through the year, but he’s one of the first coaches fired on Black Monday. Yeah, and it’ll be the Vikings. They’ll probably cover. Again, I think they’re a very solid team. Don’t know how much they do in the playoffs, but they’re at least very solid against teams like this.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, the Vikings do not play like Tim Walls, so I pick them to beat the Jaguars pretty easily. Next game, the Titans are on the road at the Chargers. Chargers favored by seven. Are the Chargers the team that had a defensive end wearing a MAGA cap?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, that was the 49ers. It was his brother. That was the Niners. Oh, that was his brother. I didn’t know which Bosa. I forget him. And what also pains me, going back to the Broncos pick, is Mahomes’ mom is a big Trump person. I think Mahomes is. He’s much more quiet about it because his wife is. And I can’t… I understand that. But, you know, it just goes to show you, Andy, you can even find common ground with your mortal enemy. Yes, you can. But on to this. Yeah, Andy, the Chargers are at home. The Titans are reeling. I know Will Levis is coming back, which means he’s probably good for a pick six or two. especially against the stout Chargers defense. I’m going to go with the Chargers at home. Not sure they cover because I’m not sure Harbaugh cares, but they will win.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I think he’ll set a scoring record, just not with his team. Okay, next game, the Eagles favored by 7.5 at the Cowboys. The Cowboys, can they just run up the white flag, put a star on it, and run it up?
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, Andy, if Jerry was smart, he would bench Dak the rest of the year, sit CD down, sit Micah Parsons, basically sit all of his stars down and just get the highest draft pick that you possibly can this next year because you’re not going anywhere, especially with Dak on IR for four games at least. And honestly, you’re not going to beat Detroit when it comes to it in the playoffs. Whether you beat Philadelphia is irrelevant. So, yeah, Andy, they should raise the flag. And all of that saying, Andy, I don’t love the Eagles. I think that they’ve got a lot of holes and a lot of problems to deal with. But I’ll take the Eagles here just because Dallas is not very good right now.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I agree with you on the Eagles, but they’re playing the Cowboys, so what difference does it make? I’ll take the Eagles. Next game. This is a good game. The Jets. J-E-T-S. Jets, Jets, Jets. Aaron is finally getting… into a bit of a rhythm with his targets. They’re on the road at the Cardinals, who are also a tough team. Jets are favored by one and a half.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, they are, Andy. And again, it’s the Cardinals, again, up and down all over the place. Cardinals, right? You don’t know which team you’re going to get there. Same with the Jets. I think the Jets are good enough, Andy. They’re going to be playing in a dome. It’s perfect for Rodgers. I think he won’t admit how much the Achilles has affected him so far this year, but I think it’s affected him more than he’s letting on, right? Right. And ultimately, I think that this is actually a good matchup for them. I think the Jets will end up pulling it out, especially because they’re basically even, if you factor it in. So I’ll go with the Jets.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m with you. I’m going to take the Jets just because I want one for the old man. Next game, this should be a bigger spread. The Lions are only favored by 3.5 over the Texans. Texans are not looking that good since they had all those injuries.
SPEAKER 06 :
Sophomore slump for C.J. Stroud, Andy, and sophomore slump for Houston as a whole, which is very common, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Quick question before you run on here. C.J. Stroud, has the league kind of figured him out? Is this an off-season of tape?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, it’s an off-season of tape, Andy, and then it’s also teams, you know, you’re sort of taking the lead, but it’s likely what’s going to happen to Jade and Daniels next year, right, Andy?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Teams just get more tape on you, they get more, they know your tendencies a little bit better, and it’s why the great ones doing it for so long is so impressive, because… They just keep finding ways to do it. So I think this game will be fun, but the Lions, man, Andy, they are a machine right now. And as long as they keep improving, I think they’ve really got a shot to go to the Super Bowl for the first one for Detroit. So I’ll go with the Lions.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’ve said all along the Lions are the best team in football. I still say it. Next game, last game, the Dolphins are on the road to the Rams. Tight game. The Rams are favored by one at home.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Andy, the Dolphins I struggle with. Again, I know that Tua’s rusty coming back last week. I’m sure he’ll be better this week. I think maybe this will be an exciting game, Andy, but I think the Rams, especially last week, sort of coming back in overtime, Stafford’s figuring out when he actually has his star receivers that he can actually be pretty good. I like them at home here, and McDaniels is sort of from the McVay-Shanahan tree, and so Maybe this will be sort of the mentor-mentee getting taught how it really is. I’m going to all go with the Rams here at home, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m with you. I’ll take the home team. John, that’s it?
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s it for today? Yeah. It must be a bye week.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is.
SPEAKER 08 :
Those are some teams off.
SPEAKER 10 :
My Packers are off, which is probably the best they’re going to look in a while.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, okay. I’m very happy. I know you’re busy. We’ll let you go. Have a good rest of your night. All right, talk to you soon. Hi-Fi Plumbing is next. Don’t forget, they do electrical now, and with the weather we’re having, you might have some issues come up, whether it’s plumbing or electrical. Give Hi-Fi a call today, 877-WE-HI-5.
SPEAKER 04 :
You’ve got to get your electrical system checked out before the holidays, and right now you can call Hi-Fi for that, too. Hi-Fi has sourced some of the best talent in Denver electricians to bring you their new electrical division so they can handle any job, big or small. Because a small problem like flickering lights will become a much bigger problem if it’s ignored. You want to identify those safety issues and outage potentials before they happen. And Hi-5 can help you do that. When you schedule an electrical inspection, Hi-5 can come out the same day in most cases and check all your outlets, switches, and panels to make sure you’re safe to party through another season. And just like Hi-5 Plumbing, all their electrical techs are licensed and insured, so you can be sure you’re getting your electrical fixed the right way. SPEAKER 08 :
All right, if you’ve got any problems, especially accident-related, give Kevin Flesch a call. He’s there to represent you. He’s not afraid to go to court. 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 04 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. Call now for a free consultation. 303-806-8886

SPEAKER 09 :
Now, back to Rush to Reason, presented by Hi-5 Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Charlie Grimes. And since Richard had to drop off because he’s got some snow stuff he’s handling as we speak, you guys can call in. Feel free to do so. You can fill in for him throughout the next 30 minutes. 303-477-5600. But Andy, take it away. Okay, manhood movies. Let’s do it.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, it’s too bad Richard is not here because I got this one for him. Now, Richard’s wife is a psychologist, right?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. That means she’s also very sensitive, understands people’s feelings. Well, when she’s out of the room and Richard sits down his three boys, Josh, Sam, Caleb, here’s what he says to them.
SPEAKER 12 :
Welcome to Fight Club. Probably does. The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 12 :
The second rule of Fight Club is… You do not talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club.
SPEAKER 08 :
Is that Brad Pitt?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER 08 :
Tell from the voice.
SPEAKER 10 :
Now, Richard’s wife, she’s not aware of this until now if she’s listening right now, which I don’t think she is at the moment. So what do you think? Is he safe? Is his secret safe?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, that’s on my list. Fight Club is on my list.
SPEAKER 10 :
By the way, great acting.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Fight Club had great acting. That’s a man’s movie. That’s a guy’s movie all the way.
SPEAKER 08 :
What do you think? Okay, so you just reminded me of one because of Brad Pitt that I’m going to throw in. Even though it’s tediously slow, there’s a lot of lessons learned. manliness wise because these two boys are trying to figure out how to be a man and their dad is doing the best he can to teach them although as a pastor I think at times he struggles with that and that is river runs through it
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right? Yeah. Because that’s really all about manhood.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s very much about manhood. I did not think of that one.
SPEAKER 08 :
I didn’t either until I just heard the voice and I thought, well, there’s another one we’ll throw in.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. Now, the next one I got to do, and this is a movie that you and I love, but I’m not going to do the clip I always do because I wanted to do a different one. Here we go. Tombstone. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 19 :
It’s Marshall. Please don’t kill me, please. Take a good look at him, Ike, because that’s how you’re going to end up. The cowboys are finished, you understand me? I see a red sash, I kill the man wearing it. So run, you cur. Run! Tell all the other curs the law is coming. You tell them I’m coming and hell’s coming with me, you hear? Hell’s coming with me!
SPEAKER 08 :
Great movie. Oh, yeah. Great movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
My wife says that every time she goes into a mall.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, is that it?
SPEAKER 10 :
She’s very into shopping.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
That was a great movie, and what a great moment. I just love Kurt Russell.
SPEAKER 08 :
I have one that I didn’t think of, but a listener had texted me this late last night, and I would not have thought of this, so thank you, whoever the listener was that did this. Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes. Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Wax on, wax off. Hey, he taught some manhood. He taught him how to be a man, didn’t he? He really did. I love it. John and Cheyenne, you’re next. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, guys. My wife gave me two great ones. Okay. And they’re both with Mel Gibson. The Patriot.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s on my list. And Braveheart. Yep, both of those on my list.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I got to play a little Braveheart. Here we go. I haven’t played this in a while. Here we go.
SPEAKER 17 :
All right. Fight and you may die. Run and you’ll live forever. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I’m sorry. That was the wrong clip. That was Trump before Tuesday. Oh, there we go.
SPEAKER 11 :
That was Trump right after he got shot, wasn’t it? Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
I just couldn’t believe when he broke into a Scottish accent. That was very impressive.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right. I got two classics. The first one is John Wayne, the Cowboys.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes. Can I play just a little John Wayne? It’s just random. Here we go. Go for it.
SPEAKER 26 :
Nobody.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
Good.
SPEAKER 10 :
I love John Wayne. John Wayne, I’ve always said it, I’ll say it again, the most charismatic person ever on screen. I mean, he was a magnet. The second he was on screen, you just couldn’t wait for him to say one more line. He was incredible. Go ahead, John. I got one other one. It even had a song about men, and that was Mel Brooks’ Men in Tights.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yes!
SPEAKER 10 :
I love it. It even had the song that they’re manly men.
SPEAKER 08 :
Men in tights.
SPEAKER 10 :
I did not cue it up. I’m sorry. I’m a bad person. That was so funny.
SPEAKER 12 :
Tights.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, John. You too, man. Appreciate you very much. And Richard’s wife said she heard all that. Secret’s not secret.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, well, in that case, and this is in her honor also, the movie that Richard modeled for, you know, all the characters were basically taken from, you know, models of Richard, 300. Here’s the speech.
SPEAKER 16 :
And by Spartan law, we will stand and fight and die. A new age. An age of freedom. And all will know that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. Richard modeled for it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Manly men. Manly men. For sure.
SPEAKER 10 :
Not as manly as men in tights, though. That was better.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 08 :
Because I like Tom Hardy lawless. Oh, yes. Yes. I mean, he’s like the man.
SPEAKER 10 :
Tom Hardy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, here’s a question.
SPEAKER 10 :
He is like a man’s man amongst actors.
SPEAKER 08 :
Has he ever played a role where he’s not a man’s man?
SPEAKER 10 :
No, no. You know, and he can even be a bad guy. It doesn’t matter.
SPEAKER 08 :
Good guy, bad guy, doesn’t matter.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, when Tom Hardy’s a bad guy, I come out of the movie saying, you know what? I want to be a bad guy. I like Tom Hardy.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, that was one of those where he kind of was, kind of wasn’t. I mean, it was Prohibition. Yes. And he was, you know, a runner. You know, basically they had a still and all of that, and they were doing things, you know, illegally at that time. Yes. And the law was out to get them, and… The law, though, wasn’t really good either.
SPEAKER 10 :
No.
SPEAKER 08 :
Exactly. They were about as crooked as it gets. In fact, wasn’t… Make sure I’m saying this correctly, Andy. Wasn’t your movie about the convent, wasn’t he the same bad… Wasn’t he the bad cop in Lawless? Ooh, was he? Gee whiz, I think he was. I think he was the bad cop in Lawless. I’m not 100% on that. I got to look it up. I think he was the bad guy in… Don’t quote me. I got to look this up and see. Are you looking it up? Cillian Murphy? What was… Cillian Murphy is the name of the actor. I’m looking it up right now. Great radio here. If not, who was the bad cop in that?
SPEAKER 10 :
I don’t know. I don’t remember. It’s been a while.
SPEAKER 08 :
I got to look. Okay. No, not the same person I’m thinking of.
SPEAKER 10 :
No, that’s okay. But anyways. Okay, this one is also in honor of Richard. Okay. Because I know it’s going to bug you. And here we go, Fast and Furious.
SPEAKER 01 :
Don, this car is the fastest car on the island. Do you know what he has under that hood?
SPEAKER 18 :
He knows it doesn’t matter what’s under a hood. Yes. The only thing that matters is who’s behind the wheel. Oh, jeez.
SPEAKER 22 :
Are you one of those boys who prefers cars to women?
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m one of those boys that appreciates a fine body regardless of the make.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah! Vin! Vin Diesel! Oh, my word. Greatest actor of the modern age. Oh, my word. You know, he turned down the role. That’s why Cillian Murphy took it.
SPEAKER 08 :
I see. For Oppenheimer. Yeah. It was close. He does have some guns. I’ll give him that.
SPEAKER 10 :
He does have some guns.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, he has that.
SPEAKER 10 :
You have to admit, he’s all man.
SPEAKER 08 :
Is he?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well.
SPEAKER 08 :
Maybe that’s why he can’t act. Jeez. You’re so harsh. Okay. Okay, how about… Let’s see here. Jack Reacher. Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Either one. One or two. Take your pick. Doesn’t matter.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, nobody ever talks about Jack Reacher, too. I liked it.
SPEAKER 08 :
I did, too. I liked it a lot. I liked it as well as I did as one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, they were pretty close.
SPEAKER 08 :
They were both really good movies. I thought… Yeah, well, then they made the Amazon series.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I don’t like the Amazon series because the guy who plays Reacher there is a big-time leftist kook.
SPEAKER 08 :
I still like it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Anti-Trump leftist kook. Well, most of these people we’re talking about are… I’m sure Cruz is, too, but he doesn’t say it.
SPEAKER 08 :
He’s not very vocal. No, he isn’t. Tom Cruise knows how to make money. He keeps those opinions to himself. Well, yeah. He’s pretty smart that way.
SPEAKER 10 :
He listened to Michael Jordan, who said, Republicans buy shoes, too.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, and they go to movies also.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
So just keep those things to yourself.
SPEAKER 10 :
I will say Jack Reacher 1 was a little fresher, obviously. The character was new. But Jack Reacher 2 was really good.
SPEAKER 08 :
I enjoyed it. Absolutely. And you mean he is, like in that movie, the man’s man.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, absolutely. Okay, here’s a bit from not a good movie, and yet I love watching it. Have you noticed with some men’s movies, even though it’s a crap movie, you just like it?
SPEAKER 08 :
You still watch it, yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and this is another actor.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, really quick. That says something, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Which, again, the left doesn’t understand what you just said. Even though it’s not a great movie, because it’s a man’s man movie, you’ll still watch it, right? Oh, yeah. You just said that. That’s what the left doesn’t understand. They’ve missed what you just said.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, they don’t want to admit that the two genders are different. I mean, my wife will admit to watching, like, The Princess Diaries, which is not – she’ll admit flat out, look, not a great movie. See, I disagree with you. But she thinks it’s really cute and enjoys it.
SPEAKER 08 :
I disagree with you. I think they do understand their differences.
SPEAKER 10 :
They don’t care.
SPEAKER 08 :
But they don’t – thank you. They don’t care. In fact, they want to change all of that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, that’s true.
SPEAKER 08 :
So they do understand, but they want to change it. That’s right. They resent that there are differences. That’s right.
SPEAKER 10 :
And they want to program that out of us. That’s right. Hence Tim Walz. There you go. Have I mentioned him a few times today?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, you have. Least manly man. Okay, not to get off on it.
SPEAKER 10 :
That God ever mistakenly allowed to be created.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’ll do more on Tuesday, but really, Andy. Yes. Just why? Of all of their choices they have.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, gosh. Why? Let me ask you this. Now that he has been exposed as a national joke, and I mean he is. Don’t get me wrong. Minnesota is wacko leftist. I get it. But next time he’s up for reelection, you almost got to think the people of Minnesota.
SPEAKER 08 :
He’s got to be an embarrassment to the state, isn’t he?
SPEAKER 10 :
It has to be an embarrassment. The other 49 states had no idea. that the governor of Minnesota insisted on tampons being put in men’s rooms and allowed the BLM riots to burn down Minneapolis. They didn’t know that. That was up there. That was on the news for a couple days, and that was it. It already surfaced. Yeah. I mean, the entire nation watched this man. And, of course, then they watched him get cut up by J.D. Vance, a real man.
SPEAKER 08 :
Makes no sense. I don’t get it. Anyways.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. Anyway, here’s a bad movie that I enjoy anyway. It’s called Broken Arrow. Here we go.
SPEAKER 26 :
A broken what? It’s what we call it when we lose a nuclear weapon. I don’t know what’s scarier, losing nuclear weapons, or that it happens so often there’s actually a term for it. The only thing more dangerous than what he knows… They believe they’ve got an exposed core.
SPEAKER 07 :
They’ve got to send in a nuclear emergency search team. By the time they find us, we’ll be gone.
SPEAKER 09 :
…is what he’s prepared to do. $250 million by 0900 Utah time.
SPEAKER 07 :
If you have not… I don’t know what the big deal is. I really don’t.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, so the villain is John Travolta.
SPEAKER 08 :
I heard that.
SPEAKER 10 :
And he was terrific in that movie. And Christian Slater is the good guy.
SPEAKER 08 :
He does make a good bad guy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, and those two playing off each other was great.
SPEAKER 08 :
I loved their interaction. So Dan Muir said that she picked Tim Walz because she was drunk when she did. She must have been. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER 10 :
Or maybe she was. No, no, I know. I know. I know. She was angry because they said, you got to balance the ticket. You have to pick a man. And she’s just like, I can’t. I can’t. I hate men. I hate men. So she decided to pick the least manly man ever.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, as you know, but there are some conspiracies running around that she’s a raging alcoholic, which there’s times where I’d almost believe by her actions.
SPEAKER 10 :
Do you think she’s one of these drunks who is, you know… A functioning drunk? Functions better when she’s drunk?
SPEAKER 08 :
Possibly, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
And maybe she was, like, sober in her last couple interviews?
SPEAKER 08 :
Could very well be, Andy. I’m being serious. She was out of control. Could very well be. Okay, I’ll throw one in, then we’ll take a break.
SPEAKER 10 :
Dan, please replace him in Minnesota. Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, this one you probably wouldn’t think of as a man’s movie, but it’s young men trying to learn how to be men. They’re trying to run their own business. It’s not the kind of business that most would run, but it’s risky business.
SPEAKER 1 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 14 :
Good one.
SPEAKER 08 :
I like it. Okay. Yeah, yeah. All right. You want to go to break? Yeah, let’s take a break. We’ll come right back. Roof Savers of Colorado coming up next. SPEAKER 08 :
Oh. Cheesy, but good.
SPEAKER 11 :
Totally cheesy.
SPEAKER 08 :
The last one was awful.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, but talk about men. I mean, Sam Elliott and Patrick Swayze as bouncers.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and Joe, you know, look, Joe, I think we can all safely say you have a very high IQ. And you do. You have a very, very high IQ. It’s obvious. And a lot of us do, and a lot of guys do. And you know what? Then guys watch Roadhouse.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
We don’t care. It doesn’t matter if a guy is really smart.
SPEAKER 11 :
They like stupid, rough movies. Yep. Stupid, rough movies. By the way, I hope you have Tom Cruise in, what was it, Maverick was the name of the first one?
SPEAKER 10 :
I’ve got listed Top Gun, Maverick. I could have put Top Gun, too, but I just wanted to put Maverick.
SPEAKER 08 :
Both of them are good. Okay, just Maverick. Absolutely. I just want to make sure you had them. Nope, good stuff. Joe, thanks, man. Appreciate you very much. Okay, take it away, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, well, you’ve got to remember this.
SPEAKER 28 :
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the armies of the North. General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance. In this life or the next.
SPEAKER 10 :
Gladiator.
SPEAKER 08 :
Good one. Oh, yeah. Yep, on my list. You’re up, John. Let me squeeze a couple from listeners in really quick before we go on. So I’ve got three. True Grit, Outlaw Josie Wales, and Pulp Fiction.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh.
SPEAKER 08 :
So there you go.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m telling you what, True Grit was just wonderful.
SPEAKER 08 :
Both of them. Yeah. I liked them both, actually.
SPEAKER 10 :
Let’s play just a little bit of Clint. Here we go.
SPEAKER 22 :
Man’s got to do something for a living these days. Dying ain’t much of a living, boy.
SPEAKER 23 :
You’re a man who makes people afraid, and that’s dangerous.
SPEAKER 22 :
Well, it’s what people know about themselves inside that makes them afraid.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s good.
SPEAKER 22 :
I don’t deserve this. Deserves got nothing to do with it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Was not he a man’s man? Still is at 94 or whatever he is?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes. In that case, let me just say one of him in his aged years. Gran Torino.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s on my list.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, so good.
SPEAKER 08 :
So good. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’re up.
SPEAKER 08 :
Another one that’s on my list, and somebody mentioned Secondhand Lions. That was about teaching a boy how to be a man.
SPEAKER 10 :
That was a good one, too.
SPEAKER 08 :
Good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Really good. Okay, this is just a great moment from Rocky III.
SPEAKER 18 :
Damn, Rock, come on! What’s the matter with you?
SPEAKER 12 :
Come on.
SPEAKER 18 :
There is no tomorrow. There is no tomorrow. There is no tomorrow.
SPEAKER 10 :
I love Carl Weathers. He was so good as Apollo.
SPEAKER 08 :
Agree. Yep. Another one from a listener, Chariots of Fire.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, good one. You see, this is great. I would not have thought of chariots of fire.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’ve had a ton from listeners, so thank you guys all. I appreciate it very much.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, and what bravery and boldness in that. Okay, how about Handsome Rob in The Italian Job when he’s picking up a girl and what’s-his-name is talking about it. Here we go.
SPEAKER 21 :
How does he do that? How do you do that? What are you saying? He’s watching her pick up a girl. Hey, how are you? Nice to meet you. I’m handsome Rob. And you are?
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, my name’s Becky, but it’s written on my shirt.
SPEAKER 21 :
Listen, I’m going to need your shirt and your truck.
SPEAKER 20 :
Perfect. I’ll give them both to you. Would you like my virginity as well?
SPEAKER 21 :
If it’s on the menu.
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, you’re so witty. Why don’t you take advantage of me?
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, you’re not too bright, are you?
SPEAKER 20 :
No.
SPEAKER 21 :
Perfect.
SPEAKER 08 :
That was a good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
For all of those out there who have not seen Italian Job, all I can say is three words.
SPEAKER 08 :
Shame on you. Great movie. Yes. Great movie. There Will Be Blood. I have never seen it. Oh, you’ve never seen it, Andy? It’s slow. You probably would struggle with that a little bit. It’s a little slow, but it’s good.
SPEAKER 10 :
I can watch a slow movie now and then. Okay, here’s a different one. Learning Manhood in a Different Way. Dead Poets Society.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Trust me. It’s really good. No, it is. It’s not an action movie at all. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 08 :
We Were Soldiers.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes. I’ve played the speech too much, so I won’t do it again. Okay, all-manhood movie, Con Air.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I was going to say that one.
SPEAKER 10 :
I love Con Air. I’ve seen it too many times.
SPEAKER 08 :
All right, saving Private Ryan because my initial thought was they’re all pretty much men’s men, but then they even teach the one wimpy guy at the end how to be a man.
SPEAKER 10 :
I agree.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. How about another one where that kind of happens? Glory.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah, that’s a good one, Andy. Remember Thomas said he had to learn to be tougher. Good one. Yeah. Absolutely. Okay, this one, Forrest Gump, but not because necessarily, I mean, Forrest was too. Sure. But Lieutenant Dan. Lieutenant Dan. Is a man’s man.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, well, how about The Magnificent Seven?
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Classic, classic. Lots of men in that. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay, how about Patton?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely. How about a different kind of man that every woman wanted? Austin Powers. Jeez. Yeah, baby, yeah!
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, no, okay, I’ll give you that. I’ll give you that. Any James Bond movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Do you have a favorite? I like Skyfall, actually.
SPEAKER 10 :
I like Skyfall a lot.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s a really good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
I also like Casino Royale.
SPEAKER 08 :
I do, too. That’s another good one.
SPEAKER 10 :
We really like him. Okay, once again, I know I’ve mentioned this before. It came out at the beginning of the year, Boys in the Boat.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah, I’ve got to see that. I have not seen that yet.
SPEAKER 10 :
George Clooney, who obviously doesn’t know politics, sure knows how to direct. Good job, George. Rambo. Rambo! Okay, how about this one? Miracle. Oh, good one, Andy. Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
I forgot about that. Oh, I enjoyed that one. Good one. Go ahead. Cinderella Man.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, nice, nice, nice. How about The Expendables? That’s very poorly written, all men’s men stuff, and I enjoy it.
SPEAKER 08 :
Very well said. Yep, very well. American Sniper. Oh, good one. I didn’t think of that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Dirty Harry.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. Hold on. That one’s good. Somebody said good, bad and the ugly. I mean, you could take any of the spaghetti westerns and.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, but that’s on my list.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Total classic. Die Hard. Come on.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Just a cop, man. Just a cop. And he’s taking on all these Euro trash terrorists.
SPEAKER 08 :
This one you may not think of, but it really is a man’s, a lot of men’s men in the movie itself, Ford v. Ferrari. It’s on my list. Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
I thought it was really good. How about this one? Different one. United 93.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, good one, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. Talk about a real story.
SPEAKER 08 :
Todd, what’s his name? Mm-hmm. Good one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Dope.
SPEAKER 08 :
Jason Bourne. Any of them.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah. The Bourne identity. So good. So good. Well, here’s an obvious one. John Wick.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, you think?
SPEAKER 10 :
I know it’s crazy, but also he is both sensitive, an action guy, determined, and a total man.
SPEAKER 08 :
I can’t argue that. You’re 100% correct. All right. Here’s one. Cheesy but good. Armageddon.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay, here’s one. By the way, just because a movie has men being men, women can also be women.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s great. How about True Lies?
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s a good one, Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 08 :
Conan the Barbarian. That one is another one which, by the way, Jersey Joe likes. Okay, give us one more and we’ll take a break.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, 310 to Yuma.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, Andy, good one. Yeah, that’s actually because it’s teaching the kid especially how to be a real man. Would you agree?
SPEAKER 10 :
Not enough people have seen that.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s a great movie. Fabulous movie. All right, we’ll take a break. We’ll come right back. Ridgeline Auto Brokers is up next. Two locations to serve you. Yes, they’ll probably be around even with the snow tomorrow. On a Saturday, RidgelineAutoBrokers.com.

SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I said all mine.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, Lord of the Rings. I got a few more. Road Warrior, Point Break, both of them. That was Charlie’s recommendation. Lock with Tom Hardy and The Hunt for the wilder people. That came in from a listener, by the way, as well. So, guys, have a great night. Be safe out there in the snow. Don’t forget first thing in the morning. Fix It Radio followed up by Drive Radio.
